I had a PAE procedure in Reno Nevada at CIC with Dr Evans and it worked great after 7 weeks before PAE I was in a bad state not able to urinate and had a catheter for 3 and 1/2 months not fun so when I did PAE I waited because my urologist and his stupidity made me do a biopsy which was unnecessary since I don't have cancer and that made my prostate in large more of course so it took 7 weeks for the PAE to kick in and everything's working great now again and it cost me $12,038 to get it done I have an appeal with insurance company I think it's a great procedure and I think it works for most men I hear it's 90%
Urologist did not recommend PAE I found it on my own with Dr Evans radiologist at CIC in Reno they have offices in Arizona salt lake City and other cities it's consolidated integrated care and they're on the internet there's lots of information about PAE on the internet Dr bagla's 1000s of these and he's in Washington DC it's very safe works great I highly recommend it not intrusive easy and it works That's the main thing it works
Yes prostate artery embolization works great, I had it done in September 2023. My only angst is the cost. The interventional radiologist billed my insurance $24,700 for procedure that took approximately two hours, was an outpatient, and used light sedation only with no anesthesiologist. I was in the whole facility, a total of less than four hours. So while it’s convenient and except for feeling like I had a goose egg up my bottom for about an hour and a half or two after the procedure it was relatively painless with no use of peridium or Motrin or anything post procedure. The other thing that was very uncomfortable was the hard platform required to lay perfectly still on during the procedure without moving for obvious reasons. However, once I was able to move, it was much more comfortable. It’s now been two months since the procedure, and I noticed a significant decrease in urgency, frequency, and general bladder, spasms and discomfort.
A few question, if you will, please: 1. On average, what is the final size of the prostate, after it has stopped shrinking, as a percentage of its pre-PAE size? 2. Does the prostate size then stabilize or does it resume growing at a slower rate? 3. Should a person take prostate shrinking drugs for some time before the procedure? Thank you very much!
i am worried about the 2 to 3 hours of laying on your back, i understand u are not completely sedated, after beads are put in the veins, do they dissolve in the veins, what happens to the dead tissue, if the veins are now dead? u stated there would be some pain and burning after the procedure is there any meds given to control this pain after the procedure.? Last question I am really concerned, worried that the doctor who is the procedure is really qualified a doctor that does this procedure qualified to do this type of surgery. my thoughts its should done in a hospital setting.
Since you are starving the prostate of blood supply and it shrinks, does it become a problem organ in other ways - such as a decaying prostate or one subject to other disease or cancer?
That's a good question. I read that cancer loves a low oxygen environment. Less blood, means less oxygen. Therefore, if you have very small cancer cells in you prostate, will the low red blood cell access to the prostate accelerate cancer growth. (As a side note, they've been doing this procedure for several years now, and I haven't read anything to substantiate the theory).
I had this done. It worked at first, but the same problems came back. I delayed the follow-up MRI because of covid, but when I had it after about 2 years, the prostate was basically the same size. (5xnormal) To this day i wonder what ever happened to all those beads. There are side effects from this procedure, including bleeding, pissing out the dying prostate, pain 3-5 days, and risk of damage from the beads to other tissues including the penis. I do not recommend this procedure to people anymore.
I had none of those side effects.... Peeing blood is not a side effect of the procedure that I know of... my experience with the PAE procedure was truly AMAZING . What did your radiologist say when you went back??
@@InfusionFotoMpls His replacement said they could not help me any further. I am looking into aqua ablation now. In the meanwhile, I have had a couple of clogged arteries in the heart. At "The Ohio State University", PAE is done in the Interventional Radiology Dept. It is a six hour procedure lying flat on your back and awake. A Foley Catheter and urine collection bag is used. Won't the body regrow the blood supply with alternate routes?
My question all along that I have never found an answer
@@billg1995 the prostate gets just enough blood flow to stay alive . No need to regrow new vessels.
