Thank you, Karina, for always including the information/knowledge about the fabrics in your content. As an unexperenced sewist this has been the reason for most of my successful garments.
I wasn’t going to get this pattern until I watched your presentation. I love yoga waist lines too. Thankyou for showing us how to achieve such a professional way of doing the pockets. Great details as always Katrina.
You always give the best tips and tricks to make better sewing easier. Thank you! I was thinking of getting the pattern, and watching you sealed the deal! I used your link to purchase the pattern. Thanks again for all your hard work and creativity.
They look so comfortable! I love both pairs, especially how you styled the black and white print. The burgundy pair is great too, but I am not a fan of the side pockets. That red trench is amazing!!!
I love all your looks, especially the one with the Rosy cardigan, and it was lovely to see your beautiful trench coat again. I know you've spoken about yoga waistbands in other videos, but I wasn't sure if I would like them. Anyway, I've bought the pattern so I can try one. Perhaps I will become a convert! I've already got the Rosy pattern and I think they look so good together. Thanks, as ever, for the inspiration.
After watching your previous videos I am now addicted to yoga waistbands. As always your pants look fabulous - I think I will try this pattern. thank you
This pattern comes at a perfect timing! Had a pair of yoga waistband pants that have worn out, and now I can try to make my own! Thank you sooooo much for these great videos I’m a real fan. I love your styling burgundy linen pants paired with the vest. I was wondering if you could give us the name of the vest pattern. ❤
I find that when matching a plaid with pockets, I lay the pattern on the leg, then lay the pocket piece on that. Next I take a felt pen and trace the plaid through the pattern paper pieces onto the pocket pattern. Then lay the pattern with the plaid drawn on it to the fabric. Make the pattern plaid drawn lines match to the fabric to be cut. This way, the pocket will exactly match the leg plaid, both vertically and horizontally. Perfection. I figured this out while sewing a collage wardrobe for myself in the summer of 1968. I had purchased yards and yards of plaid wool fabric And matched lines till I had to figure out ways to get them right. I’ll never forget the pleated skirt had 21 pattern pieces!
I have been waiting for this video. I was considering lengthening the Jakarta shorts for a similar look. How would you compare the two patterns, especially since they both have yoga waistbands. I have been adding yoga waistbands to RTW skirts that I have cut shorter and my Allegro skirts (and pants, eventually hopefully). I need comfy clothes to teach my preschool students. Your gray/white pair look fabulous and so professional. The burgundy ones look great too and no one will know how comfy they really are.
They fit very differently. The shorts have way more ease than these. I prefer less ease for full length pants like these. You’d also have to deal with the taper of the shorts……
Karina, another fab review/sewing tutorial! The Dune pants look amazing on you. I'm only 5'2" and have a feeling I would require a ton of adjustments. Big sigh. But that didn't stop me from buying them! haha. Also wanted to say one of my favorite parts of your vlogs are the style options you put together. It's so helpful to see. Thank you for all your time!
The petite file will help you for sure and you’ll start fitting already with a lot done for you. It’s it just about the inseam. The height files also account for the rise too :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I have many Sinclaire patterns but have never tried their pants. I totally forgot they do petite files as well! Thanks again, Karina.
Very pretty. I do have the pattern, just need to find the courage to sew my first ever trousers 🙈 Would a viscose fabric work for the simole version with inseam pockets?
Thank you for presenting all your skills to all of us. Just one question: Tencel and rayon aren't the same, but Tencel is produced more ecoligically, cleaning and reusing the chemicals necessary for the production of rayon (viscose)? Great technique for sewing cargo pockets and you did a very good job matching the lines.
I feel like you are not asking a question about rayon and tencel. You give a lot of information I really don’t know what you want to know. I never said that viscose and tencel are the same 🤷🏻♀️.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Hello Karina, Thank you for your reply. I think that the material is the same, but the way of production is different. Therefore I was wondering about the fabric recommendation rayon twill would be too slinky but tencel twill is fine. But I may be wrong and wanted to insure myself. Tencel and Lyocell seem to be the same as Modal and are a kind of a bit more ecologically produced, hardened viscose. Modal is more durable or longlasting than viscose. So your recommendation makes totally sense. I'll try to make some trowsers out of this material.
I don’t really see how power mesh can be added comfortably into a woven pant. I see that more of a feature in knit pants. Woven fabrics in themselves do provide more support when they are nicely fitted.
Hey Karina. I noticed when you sewed the pocket flaps and trimmed your seams before turning and pressing you cut off your backstitches. Do you ever have any issues with seams coming undone?

Wonderful! I’ve been accused of talking too much before 😃😃. I’m glad you like the fabric chat.
Those black & white pants are very cool. I love the burgundy set with the black top. Striking.
You had me at “yoga waistband” 😂
Ha ha lol me too!

These pants have the best of both worlds! Woven with a yoga waistband! The fit, fabric and styling on yours is perfection!

The burgundy pair is great too, but I am not a fan of the side pockets.
That red trench is amazing!!!
I like that there’s a pocket for all preferences here. I know the cargo pockets are not for everyone 😀
So beautiful. The last look with the Isla Red Trench is fantastic. Thank you for the guidance on this pattern love love love it!

I think rayon could be too light. Maybe a rayon twill that’s a little heavier would work better but I still prefer more structure .
Beautiful pants. Love the yoga waist band. Enjoy all your videos. Do you ever purchase fabrics online? If yes where. I find it challenging.
I do buy online but here in Brazil. It helps that I already know the types of fabric and the compositions so I know what to expect.
These make you look very tall and very stylish
Thank you! I appreciate my height now lol. There was a time I was taller than the boys and that was annoying 😃

Lovely wool pants Karina!

I know this pattern was designed for woven fabric but would it be doable to use knit fabric? Something like an athletic fabric?
I talked about this in the video 🤓😉
What is the foot you used to sew the pockets? That looks nifty.
It’s an adjustable blind hem presser foot. Mine is Janome and it has an L on it. It’s the best.
Hey Karina. I noticed when you sewed the pocket flaps and trimmed your seams before turning and pressing you cut off your backstitches. Do you ever have any issues with seams coming undone?
No because I use a shorter stitch length and then it’s top stitched all the way around. I’ve never had an issue :)
Can you share which presser foot you used? I looked in your amazon store but didn't see it. Is it a blind hem foot?
It’s an adjustable blind hem presser foot. It’s Janome and has the letter L on it.
where to find cotton spandex 10%?
I buy it in Brazil. You could as in a sewing facebook group and get local recommendations.
When did you attach the waistband?
That’s the last step :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedlesI saw where it’s on, but I was hoping to see the application. Still can’t find it, what is the time stamp please.
