Hello friends! Thank you so much for watching my video! I just want to reinforce the idea that if you use T-shirts, they need to be made from Cotton Lycra (or spandex) and have at least 5% Lycra. T-shirts made from 100% cotton won’t stretch and recover :) Happy sewing!
@@flowerchild777 No I didn’t because I didn’t think they would be stretchy enough. I bought some 95% cotton 5% spandex at hobby lobby and it worked great.
I appreciate your modesty and you are NOT weird! Thank you for your manners and humor! I have been sewing my own underwear for about 30+ years using a Stretch & Sew pattern. Sew Sassy Fabrics in Alabama, U.S.A. has great supplies. Love the sunglasses pair!
I love this! Informative, detailed and hysterically funny! I was just thinking about getting rid of the old concert t-shirts I've been saving, not anymore! I'm making these bloomers. Now to decide whether the face goes on the front or back. 🤣😂🤣😂
I was like you, thinking I would never sew underwear. But when this pattern popped up in my email, I found myself considering it. You now convinced me. Off to buy, through your link ofcourse. 💕
Loved the tutorial video. These are exactly what I’ve been looking for in an underwear 🩲 style. I’m definitely going to try this. It’s getting harder to find the right ones that I like that are comfortable and cotton. Thank you ❤❤❤
You are a treasure! This video & pattern will help me make some comfy undies, at last. Thankyou for seeing that we really needed help with the how & why! Now to raid HIS tee shirt drawer, LOL.
I had a bag of clothing ready to go to the thrift store that I just dug out my shrunken T-shirt’s! This timing was perfect 🤩. I would have been quite upset with myself if I had given them away. On to sewing undies!
Karina, I am admitting to u something I have not told very many people. I'm an old hippie and I gave up on undies long time ago. But you, you have got me thinking about giving up the commando style. I like the idea of underpants but could never get the comfort. Just for clarification under dresses and skirts I wore body shapers. So this is great. Every time I think u have nothing else to show us u always delight us with your expertise.
Thanks Karina. In the short tome I have been following you my sewing has improved considerably! I have used your link for the pattern. I have also bought a bra pattern from elsewhere. PLEASE do a bra! Off to raid the tee shirts.....
These are every bit a comfortable and fun as she describes. I love the old T-Shirt idea! Thank you for your excellent, easy to watch, inspiring, informative videos.
Undies! That made me smile, it might be a long time since you left Australia Karina, but the local dialect has stayed with you. I only use cotton for undies when I am recycling a rtw tshirt. If I am buying fabric I will use Australian Tencel, Modal or bamboo. These fibres are more sustainable than cotton. My favourite is Tencel... softer than silk, cooler than linen and more absorbent than cotton. I've never bought a pattern (just cloned my most comfy undies), but I do like the look of that waist band... might have to try it out.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Undies is a very Australian word. Did your family move here before you started school? Tencel is sourced from eucalyptus (hypoallergenic and versatile), it's one downfall is that it resists dyeing. I avoid buying it in dark or very bright colours because the treatment required to get deep colour isn't terribly good for the environment and it is prone to fade anyway.
I love this tutorial. I think I may give undies a go. Great idea to use t-shirts. I would have never thought about that. I do have some t-shirts made with cotton lycra that I do not wear. Thank you.
Love these, look so comfortable. I have followed you since I started sewing 4 years ago and think you are awesome Thankyou for all your amazing content ✂️xx
God bless you I think the sewing community is absolutely sweet. They share so so much! I'm very new at sewing and I really appreciate the information that share.❤️
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. You are so good at explaining and I really love your modesty. Please could you let me know how to order this pattern as I've not done it before but I too, am fed up with badly fitting and uncomfortable underwear. Will you be doing a tutorial on bras, in the near future. Especially for those of us with a really large cup size. Bras with large cup sizes are 3 times the price of bras with a B or C cup. But we have to wear one and they are usually badly fitting anyway. Thanks a MILLION, Karina.

I have sewn a few sports bras and I really enjoy them :) those I’m happy to sew.
Making your own underwear, that’s the beat idea ever. Underwear are sooo expensive and cheaply made now. Great tips and great video! You always give such great information! Thank you!
I love the captain America panties. I think your fun using the prints the way you did. I will try to make some. I use to years ago. Thankyou. You did a great job! May Jehovah bless you for your generosity in teaching and sharing. Good job!
I love 💕 high waisted panties too, but I hate the name granny panties. They were just normal fashion when I was a schoolboy and a teenager. Granny panties sounds old.
I never thought I would ever make undies until Covid hit. I use my knit scraps from sewing projects. The undies are quite comfy and make use of the lovely fabric scraps. As my sewing has improved, so have the quality and fit of the undies using all the great techniques I’ve learned from this channel. Thank you!

I used your link last week for the underwear and I have now made 5 pair!!! They have all been with the bands and I love them! I don't have any lingerie elastic right now but will get some on order!!! Thanks for the video❤️
Thank you for this! I’ve purchased the pattern after watching this. Tried all the free versions of panties and couldn’t get them to fit. This one looks perfect! Thanks ❤

Lovely knickers🤣🤣 I made my own years ago and have been thinking about doing so again as my favourites have changec the fabric to a more silky one and I hate it ! I still have the pattern I used 😁
I love your undies. I have made a ton of children’s undies from upcycles t-shirts. These look wonderful. Just got my new jet air serger and it is so easy to thread. I’m going to order the pattern for me. Thanks for sharing.
I was so excited to find your channel. We are the same size 💖 I’m tall as well, 5’11” and have issues finding anything that’s long enough. I’m so excited to sew these. I did purchase the pattern through your link and have it printed off and ready to go. Looking at all my tee shirts, all are 100% cotton! I’ll need to check with my husband and grown sons and go through my fabric stash and remnants, might be something there. But I loved this and can’t wait to view more of your videos.
What a fun project! I did start sewing my own undies a few years ago, and that first pair is still the best-fitting pair. I used activewear and swimwear scraps. Just a silly story to share -- somehow I thought using my man's waistband from a pair he didn't care for would somehow make mine look super professional. They looked awful, so bad that I was embarrassed at gym in case anyone saw me. So I just cut it off and replaced with self-fabric, and now they're my favorites. Just a tip for anyone else, that I took my re-harvesting too far! :D
I cut out fabric using a pair of panties as a pattern, and used white stretch lace. I made another pair for my sister using her measurements. I sewed ribbon roses with ribbon leaves center front on each. They look beautiful! Thanks for your video!

Brilliant! And well presented. I have looked at a number of underwear RUclipss to figure this garment out and yours has the best explaination for deciding on the measurements and the process. Thank you!
Wow Karina , those undies did make me laugh , they are just great and who would of thought about using up the leftovers into undies , I love that idea , so now I need to go and grab that pattern from below and buy some picot elastic , thankyou Karina you are a star ⭐️🌈
I was looking exactly for this type of underwear. TY I hope this company knows the only reason I downloaded this pattern ( since there are plenty of free ones) is because of your recommendation. The bands rather than elastic are also much better than elastic for me.And thank you for the time stamp. So helpful when you are following a tutorial.
They came out wonderful I just printed the pattern and trying to put it together and try this . I’ve been trying for three weeks to sew my own by copying my own underwear…I’ve cut out ten and destroyed 10 lol. Thank you can’t wait to try! ❤
I'm older and use to be trim a few years ago. I have developed some digestive issues and get bloated easily. Finding comfortable underwear has been a real challenge. Thank you for this review Karina. I am purchasing my pattern now! I love the fact that these makes were up-cycled!! This is a pattern that you can use forever! Purchasing mine now. Thanks again

So lovely panties 😍 Thank you for the recommendation of the Kiki pattern. I haven't thought of the fixed and loose gusset, most of my bought panties have fixed gussets. But my jersey fabric is thicker than the fabric in the bought panties so I think the loose gusset will be best. I've bought the pattern now and will make some panties to go with my homemade Darcey brahs.
Thank you Karina. Yet again you were the one inspiring me to buy a pattern! I own a few panty patterns already and actually cut a pair out last year, but never got to sewing it... I'm also in the cotton undie camp, but up to now only used beige. I'll have to expand my horizons!😉
Thank you! This is an excellent video just what I was looking for! I will be using your purchase link if it is still available regardless of the price. Because you did such a great job explaining the pattern I feel confident purchasing this pattern.
You a hoot! I think those are adorable and fun what you made. I will try to make some. Definitely need some. Thankyou for sharing your projects with us.
What a terrific idea to use upcycycled t-shirts! I prefer 100% cotton undies except the bands. They are getting really hard to find. The fabric is also impossible to find here. I now what to do with some of my husband's old tshirts.
The thing with 100% cotton is that they don’t stretch, so the fit will be different. My mum also prefers 100% cotton and finds it near impossible to find any. The T-shirts I used have 5% spandex, so they stretch.
Just bought the pattern though your link and with your instructions I am sure they will come out perfect! Thank you for your hard work, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the informative video - love your new undies! I have just bought the pattern too; it seems so luxurious to make undies in Petite sizing!
Love this idea! Can't wait to try this. Using your affiliate link 😊
Thanks Karina. I'll buy the pattern and have a go.
Thanks for such a detailed tutorial. I now have a much better understanding of how to do the elastic and want to give it a try! Love recycling!!!
