Kath, I’m so glad you are doing tutorials. You have been really inspiring to me. I have gone off and purchased many patterns after watching you. I love the in-depth reviews. Thanks
Great Video Cath ….you are a good teacher! I have made the Megan Neilson ones a few times but must try the other ones after seeing yours! Your channel is so good and I love watching it! 😊
Fab tutorial, thanks Cath! 😊 I especially liked the tip about using a pin instead of a clip at the start of the seam - I always find that my clips get caught up under the presser foot too, so this is a great way to solve the problem! X
Thank you for doing this tutorial! I have this pattern and will need to give it a go! You are right that it doesn't require a lot of fabric to sew up a pair! Looking forward to other future tutorials!
This is a super awesome sew along!! Sooo helpful. I loved all of your tips and it was great to compare the patterns as you went! Thank you🤩 Also your camera angles were so good and it was very easy to see everything you were doing!
Thank you so much Cath, a great tutorial. You explain the process so well. I have made many pairs of the Acacia knickers for myself and the mini ones for my grandaughters however I have just purchased the Iris pattern from TATB. It will be interesting to find my preference.
Hello Cath, thank you for a great tutorial. I have the Iris knickers pattern, and I am glad you said the mid rise comes up high, I have made a couple of pairs and find the same issue so I will remove some of the height. Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Phaedra, yes I much prefer the Iris knickers with a little adjustment to remove a bit of height, I hope that works well for you too. Thanks I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend too 😊
Thank you for this, I just purchased the Iris pattern last week and I’ve been wanting to make some but I’ve been trying to find a sew along for it to give me more confidence and this is what I needed!!!!! Great tips on the tension you truly are amazing!
Thanks for the tutorial Cath. Good tips re FOE tension and interesting to have the comparison with the Acacia pants. Spooky timing, as I woke up this morning and decided I would watch the online course for the Iris pants to try and get my sew-jo back. So hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have a new pair of pants 😀 I also bought the Wonder Undies pattern from Waves & Wild so will also be interested to see how they compare.
@@madebycathcraft I got my fabric cut out but when I went to sew them up my machine got in a bad mood and ate my fabric!! Will give them another go this weekend 😀
Thanks for the great tutorial, you made how to attach the elastics really clear. I made a curvy acacia pair this last week and am v pleased with the fit ( I added an inch to the rise length for back and front) compared to shop purchased knickers. I also used inch wide elastic for the waist as the cotton jersey had no lycra so I was worried about saggness. Do you use jerseys with / without lycra and if so do you use any different construction of fitting methods. And please make more tutorials.
Great tutorial, I male underwear for my children but not any for myself yet. I've not heard of this tilly and tge buttons pattern before so thank you for sharing x
Great tutorial Cath, I have only ever seen the Wicked Knickers for girls and how found them very successful, I will have to give these others a go and make some for myself 💕
I really enjoyed and value this tutorial Cath. ( Well, to be honest, I always enjoy your vlogs). Anyway, I too was worried about the elastic ! But what the heck, I’ve just ordered the pattern. A mountain of scraps awaits 😅 Thank you x
I agree, great job demonstrating how to make the nickers. It looks like you purchase the elastic in bulk….how much do you buy at a time and where from? I believe you said it’s 16 mm wide? Thanks again!
Great tutorial, thank you. I tried the acacia knickers with picot elastic, they are either too big or the elastic is too loose. Do you think the fold over elastic is better? I will give them another go, using your tips.
Thank you very much. I haven’t sewn any knickers with picot elastic but I do find the foldover elastic has a nice firm stretch to it which seems to work well
This tutorial was so good!! I've been scared to try sewing my own Knickers because of the elastic, but you've made it a lot less scary! X
I’m so glad you found it useful! I hope you enjoy sewing your own knickers. I definitely found it less daunting than I expected once I got started 😊 x
I can see why top stitching the fold over elastic is your favourite part. It makes the knickers look so professional and well made. Great sewalong!
Thank you very much!

Thank you so much Isobel! 😊
Those knickers you had made for yourself look great. They are the type I loved when I was a schoolboy and a teenager.😊

Thanks Lauren! I’m so glad you found the pin tip helpful! X

Great video Cath. I have the pattern and must have a go..do worry about the elastic tension though. Thanks again.
Thank you very much Ruth. I definitely found that having a play around with tension on scraps helped before I started on my actual knickers 😊
Very nice!!!

Love this video alot❤️ i have megan neilson and i did tried it but it created so much wave on the knickers

Thank you very much. I’ve been mostly using leftover scraps of cotton jersey with 5% Lycra 😊

Yes I buy 16mm foldover elastic and usually get a few metres, it gets used up surprisingly quickly
I didn’t know you had a RUclips site! …had the knickers pattern since it came out …and no clue 🙂
I’m glad you found my RUclips 😊 hope you find the video helpful
I love your big tin. Where did you buy it from ? Thank you , hope you don’t mind me asking ❤
Thank you! ❤️My mum got it for me and I think it came from John Lewis, but quite a long time ago!
Great tutorial, thank you. I tried the acacia knickers with picot elastic, they are either too big or the elastic is too loose. Do you think the fold over elastic is better? I will give them another go, using your tips.
Thank you very much. I haven’t sewn any knickers with picot elastic but I do find the foldover elastic has a nice firm stretch to it which seems to work well
Can you sew this by hand?
Don’t have sewing machine
I think it might be hard to get the right tension when inserting the elastic without a sewing machine
What if you don’t have a surger ?
You can make them without a serger as jersey fabric shouldn’t fray
