You might like the sewoverit Carrie trousers they are simpler and narrow legged with elastic back. I’m not a fan of SOI but really like these trousers but remember I had to lengthen them. The free range slacks by SH7 are a favourite, they are panelled but easier and have very roomy pockets . Elastic all round but very nice and nice finish on the seams

Your Petra’s look Amazing. You are very patient. I watched sequin girlie creates and she had a really bad time trying to alter to fit her.

I have been thinking of making the Pietra pants for ages and you have definitely inspired me to do it! And I could make the lovely shorts next summer too. The combination of the LB with the pants would work so well! Great video as usual, Cath, lovely to see you back!

Hi. I like the pants. Maybe you can try a stable knit or a ponte if they need to be warmer. I love the shawl. You can wear around your shoulders for the red dress or an evening dress. It kind of finishes the look. Good luck with your future plans.

Lovely to see you back again. Funny that the Pietra pants have been highlighted by a few Vloggers lately. I have been humming and hawing about them for a few years. Between you and Theresa from Lost my Thread, I am convinced to give them a go. I think a thin needle cord would work for winter, and the version would depend on whether you want to tuck them into wellies or wear loafers or ballet flats with them. Extending the tapered leg down a bit to cover your socks in a winter weight fabric should be fine especially if you want to pair them with a loose fit pullover like your black boxy turtleneck. I think a cotton sateen with a bit of stretch would be wonderful too now that I've seen your pretty print version. I wonder what they'd be like in a brocade using the side zip recommendation to reduce the gathers at the back so they aren't too bulky.

Welcome back! I love the crochet project in that beautiful blue color, it makes a great scarf for winter. The other makes are also very nice. Good job jumping out of your comfort zone, that is not easy.

Those pietra pants turned out beautifully. I bought the pattern a while ago becuase so many youtubers seem to love them and have made such nice pants from the pattern. Its finally time for me to make my own. This is the first time I think ive seen them made in a patterned fabric and I LOVE it.

I wonder if a needlepoint corduroy would work for the pietra pants? Or whether that would get too thick for the gathering at the back...

i really have a hard time choosing prints for projects., i can only imagine them in a plain colour like the closet core pattern envelope, but your pietra -! wow!! i wish i had your eye for prints and knows what would look good or not. BTW welcome back!

I have made the pietra trousers a lot, I make size smaller back for the back than front, they fit perfectly ❤

Lovely makes Cath! The Fleur is quite oversized & it’s meant to be so I’m wondering if it’s more that you are not used to that silhouette as I think you tend to wear more fitted garments but I think it looks lovely on you & I love your use of different ginghams 😊

Great review Cath. Your new dress looks lovely on you. I appreciated hearing about the instructions. I think I have a Vera top pattern by Forget-Me-Not patterns that I haven't sewn up yet but have heard many positive comments about. Also appreciated your chat about the type of fabric. I love cotton gauze and often see it on woven pattern fabric recommendations. One top I made with it is sooo comfy but it definitely grew since the sew and I don't think I would want a shirtdress out of it. Still..have a couple pieces left I need to figure out a pattern for. One I'm going to use for a nightgown as that won't matter if it loosens. xx Karen

Ogden tee for the granny squares? Floaty skirt or Ogden hack dress would be wonderful for the floral stripe. Paper Theory sweater would look great on you Basics are great and if you don't have a scoop neckline then you should make it.....but...if you don't think you'll reach for it....stick with your favorites.

Love all those colors in the Mave skirt you're wearing. That multicolor fabric seems to match the vibe of your skirt. Admire your discipline with a small fabric stash. I only have a few more days of summer vacation and have been batch cutting out matching existing patterns to existing stash. I'm pleased to see more room in my sweater boxes and hoping even a few hours of sewing on the weekend will help me finish out some projects. For that cozy white rib knit, I would love to see you sew up the open neck Agnes top. Fun to follow your journey. xx Karen

I just made the Seamwork Hansie top (it's a free pattern, I think?) from some leftover linen and really like it - it might also be lovely in your tile-print cotton, I think. Maybe with a black patch pocket to add some detail?

21:49 Hi Again Cath, your videos always inspire me. Thank you for introducing me to Higgs and Higgs and in particular the faux angora cable knit you have in your stash. I ordered 2 metres with a view to making a sweater dress. I hope you don’t mind me picking your brains but you are an expert on indie patterns and knit fabric combinations 😁On receipt of my cable knit I realised that the cable runs horizontally and the stretch is greater that way. It is also more drapy than I expected although I do love it. I have the Nina Lee Southbank dress pattern but I’m wondering if that would however be a good combo given the characteristics of the fabric? Can you suggest a more suitable sweater dress pattern?
