Midnight Mass is more of a tragedy than horror. All the characters are so well developed and multi-facetted. Even Bev Keane, who appears pure evil, finally showed her true colors at the very end. She wasn't pure evil, she was just living in a state of constant fear of everything in her miserable, loveless life. That fear made her self serving, bitter, and callus enough to see everyone around her as monsters.
She killed a dog, an innocent animal. You can't justify her actions just like that. She grew hate on a dog without a reason. I can see she didn't like Joe Collie, but come on, the dog? There's evil and just that. It was her desire to cause pain. But you're right, she was a miserable being, unworthy of mercy.
She was a self-righteous evil person. She liked to dominate and intimidate to get her way. If anyone steps on her toe she gets rid of him, one way or another.. why would she kill Joe's dog and Why did she poison father Paul?! She was a monster, and she found herself in a position of power, power over monseigneur, Sturge, the maire... The masacre on the island was her fault. A bitter and a monstrous religious nut!
I do think it is despicable that she called Joe’s dog- but I don’t think it had anything to do with Joe himself. I think, from the very start, she was offended that an innocent creature disliked her so, and she felt threatened- like the dog might know something about her. I don’t think she ever saw that dog as a living, loving thing- I think she saw it as an enemy. Maybe she even viewed it as an insult from god or the devil- and, in the end, we never see if she *did* kill the dog on purpose. Either way, she didn’t seem remorseful that she was responsible.
"I brought you out here so I would have nowhere to go... I'm not as strong as you. I never was... What do I want? I want you to take this boat, row to the mainland, and leave this place and never look back. But I knew you wouldn't do that.. I knew you wouldn't believe this unless you saw... I want you... To run. But I know you're gonna row back there and try to save as many as you can. ...I'm just sorry you have to see this..."
I can not express strongly enough how much the ad break NEEDS to be removed from the middle of the song. Sensitive times when this might be played should be taken into account.
And so it is said, that when night falls on the Atlantic Ocean, the RMS Titanic will rise up from the depths and attempt to complete its journey to New York...
"I did my best..."
That line actually got to me quite a bit.
You did
Who said that again?

My God this version is very haunting.
My heart still aches about the ending of this show..
"I brought you out here so I would have nowhere to go... I'm not as strong as you. I never was... What do I want? God damn, I wish so badly that I had the strength of those who believe. This show is easily one of the absolute best of all time
15 min ago I watched the end of this masterpiece, for the fourth time... Midnight mass is a true masterpiece...
I wanna say its my favorite movie of all time even tho its a miniseries
When I realized what song was playing in the background...bruh this broke me.
I love you Erin Green.... I always have in one way or another...
I cryed my eyes out in this scene
The moment I recognized this song in the show, I got goosebumps.
Moment I recognised it, I thought... "He's (the director) done a Titanic".

I did my best ...... I did my best 😢
That line got me choked up and teary eyed....
This version is perfect. It resembles the emptiness inside me, after the deaths of my family.
Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine...✝️🕊
In the end, no matter who you’re with, so where you are all you have is self-respect
I understand and appreciate your pain :(. It hurts to know there is others out there like me, i hope it comforts you ❤
Beautiful

@The Newton Brothers should it be `Thee` instead of `Three` in this title? :)
I agree - funny! Did not notice the typo until you mentioned it.
Could be a reference to The Trinity
The song is about making lunch plans that got delayed and it's actually "Nearer, my god, to 3pm"
