I lost my faith when my husband died from long-term Covid December 2023.. He was the first wave before vaccines or medicines. It took three years to take his heart, liver and kidneys. He was chronically fatigued. I had the honor of caring for him. The pain and longing all humans suffer connects me with all of you. We are in this together, brothers and sisters. Peace be with you.
My heart goes out to you, l lost my dear husband of 50 years just over two years ago and pain of loss is almost unbearable. You may feel that you have lost your faith but God will still have his loving arms around you, take comfort from that and return to him for as you know, we have a wonderful saviour in our Lord Jesus Christ
I was baptized into the LDS Church as a senior high school student on 3/14/1970 in Taipei, Taiwan, and have remained as a member as a retired college professor now ever since my being baptized. It's rather equal which religion we have, but this song has no borders for each of us. I'm catholic, living in Germany and played this song on my saxophone as my mother died, 600 km away from me, I just had to play it an at the same moment I knew, she was leaving us, away from pain, but I had to accompany her with my music and so we shared moments as mother and daughter, moments that we never had before. It was a great honour to share these moments with my big Mom, moments of peace, showing into the light, forgive and forget all those horrible things done to us. I also struggled with the passing of my mother, it was replaced with hope after six long years of blaming my Creator. It would only be after a missionary spoke to me with such conviction in his voice. I felt the Spirit of God testify to my heart that all of us were created by Him and continuity in that journey is dependent on our obedience to His commandments. I truly think you created a bond to remind you of all the joys your mother brought from that single moment. One that extends from birth until her passing, not many persons have that opportunity. No amount of temple work we do or sacrament we take or self reliance can save us. Only Jesus Christ can do that. God doesn’t delight in empty works. Don’t get me wrong, sacrament and the temple are important but they aren’t the only way to salvation. Only the grace of our savior can save us ❤
Hymns and choral music generally are a gift to the world from the Protestant churches. Catholics had mainly chant, responses, liturgy, a few a cappella masses, etc. Protestants rejected many forms of visual decoration but fully embraced music. Hence....Bach and all the German chorales and English hymns.

This song has always had such a profound effect on my soul and has been very comforting to me when I have gone through hard times. Just as the prophet Jacob felt the presence of the Lord during his difficult journey from Beer-sheba to Haran, I can feel the Lord's presence during the difficult parts of my journey through life, as can we all. I struggled a lot last week after scoring poorly on some midterms and accidentally skipping my Book of Mormon class, but this song was able to help me to feel God's presence and to be at peace in spite of my many failures. I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true and that our times of greatest difficulty are the times in which we have the most potential to grow nearer to God. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Honestly I didn’t feel touched when I was watching the movie Titanic , yet when I heard this song played by the band in the scene, while the cruise was sinking, the tears came out. I was baptized seven years ago and Iso proud now I am child of God!

It's rather equal which religion we have, but this song has no borders for each of us. I'm catholic, living in Germany and played this song on my saxophone as my mother died, 600 km away from me, I just had to play it an at the same moment I knew, she was leaving us, away from pain, but I had to accompany her with my music and so we shared moments as mother and daughter, moments that we never had before. It was a great honour to share these moments with my big Mom, moments of peace, showing into the light, forgive and forget all those horrible things done to us. I am so sorry to hear of your loss Irene...but I am sure, at those few last moments, she was feeling your music and at peace. My Dad passed away about 8 yrs ago and I still struggle with it daily and I still think of him daily...it is hard when you lose a parent but I bet your Mom felt this song as she went to be in Heaven and that you will one day see her again. I also struggled with the passing of my mother, it was replaced with hope after six long years of blaming my Creator. It would only be after a missionary spoke to me with such conviction in his voice. I felt the Spirit of God testify to my heart that all of us were created by Him and continuity in that journey is dependent on our obedience to His commandments. I truly think you created a bond to remind you of all the joys your mother brought from that single moment. One that extends from birth until her passing, not many persons have that opportunity. God bless you and keep you.

@@littled6698sacrament doesn’t guarantee salvation or exaltation. It’s not a magic potion you can take to erase sins. God revealed that to me recently that Sacrememt in vain is empty works. No amount of temple work we do or sacrament we take or self reliance can save us. Only Jesus Christ can do that. God doesn’t delight in empty works. Don’t get me wrong, sacrament and the temple are important but they aren’t the only way to salvation. Only the grace of our savior can save us ❤

Hymns and choral music generally are a gift to the world from the Protestant churches. Catholics had mainly chant,
responses, liturgy, a few a cappella masses, etc. Protestants rejected many forms of visual decoration but fully embraced music. Hence....Bach and all the German chorales and English hymns.

This song has always had such a profound effect on my soul and has been very comforting to me when I have gone through hard times. Just as the prophet Jacob felt the presence of the Lord during his difficult journey from Beer-sheba to Haran, I can feel the Lord's presence during the difficult parts of my journey through life, as can we all. I struggled a lot last week after scoring poorly on some midterms and accidentally skipping my Book of Mormon class, but this song was able to help me to feel God's presence and to be at peace in spite of my many failures. I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true and that our times of greatest difficulty are the times in which we have the most potential to grow nearer to God. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
