There's a meme along the lines of anyone can write a song about their ex like Taylor Swift does, but only Stevie Nicks is badass enough to make him get up on stage and sing it with her.
@@carla68 Stevie singing directly to Lindsay Buckingham, him singing right back, Christie on keyboards and John on bass were also recently divorced...there is no beef backstory like Fleetwood Mac!
"Taylor Swift writes whiny songs about all her ex's. Stevie Nicks made her ex play guitar while she sang songs about what an a-hole he was. That's badass. ..." THAT was a great statement!
badass in a way, would be more bad ass if she wasn't an ass hole herself and he didn't also do the same, as in making songs about her and making her sing them with him.
Yes, Stevie and Buckingham were together way back in HS in their teens. By the time they broke up (really) after joining FM, they had been together 11 years. Both have written tunes to and about each other. Over the decades, they have been off, on, and indifferent. The beauty of this tune is revenge. She wrote it in response to one of his songs about her on the 'Rumours' album. But it did not make the cut. It enraged her. Flash forward decades, this song and this performance wins a Grammy. Guess she was right.
Trust me...he's giving it right back. They had an on again off again relationship for many years!! She wrote this but he's written some of his own too. 🎵🎼🎶🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🥁🔥🤘
She was ABSOLUTELY singing about and to Lindsey Buckingham…the live she had and has for him will haunt him until his last breath. Nothing like a woman scorned.
Song is definitely about him. What made this so powerful is that Lindsay cut the song from the “Rumours” album. She was devastated and almost left the band. They finally released it twenty years later and this was her redemption for him doing that to her.
You're right! There was big beef! She wrote the song about him and it was intended for their award winning album, "Rumors." He didn't want it on the album, even though "Go Your Own Way" (his song about Stevie) was on the album. It ended up on the B side of the Album and Stevie was pissed. This was 20 years later and the first time she performed the song. So years of anger towards him unleashed. 😂
These people are all in their 70s now, maybe even early 80's. The wonderful gal on keyboards died just a year or two ago. Her name was Christine McVie. The band is named after the the drummer, Mick Fleetwood, and the bass player, John McVie. The band really took off when Lindsey Buckingham, the guitar player, joined the band and insisted that his girlfriend, singer Stevie Nicks, join as well or else he wasn't joining.
Fleetwood Mac makes some of the most beautiful soothing music that has ever been made jumping from genre to genre effortlessly but don’t let that lul you into a false sense that this is not a rock band!!!! That guitarist is a demon on the guitar and that pianist sings some of their most beautiful songs!!!! From 1967 to 2023 I dare you to find anything they made that was bad!!! The Mac forever!!! Rip Christine
Frist thing I said watching this video... "Somethin up with these two".. Turned out to be one of my favorite live performances of all time. I mean, you can taste the emotion in that song.
Before they became famous with Fleetwood Mac Stevie was with Lindsey. She used to wait tables, clean houses worked hard to support them both as they worked at their music. She's amazing❤
I saw them on their reunion tour in the late 90s. She was definitely singing to him! It was so emotional you could feel it. When she was singing to Lindsey, he was using his right fist and hitting his chest showing his emotions as well. It was intense
Yes, Lindsey and Stevie joined fleetwood Mac as a couple and and the bass player and the keyboard player were married but things got crazy and band members fooled around with each other at different times and rhere was a lot of disfunction (as you could imagine)...
Bro, you TOTALLY figured it out! Great observing... I love it. And beyond that, you really dug and appreciated the music of the song. It's my favorite of theirs.
Shon everything you said was correct. I think Rollimg Stone said she was letting Lindsey have it, and all had to protect himself with was his guitar ❤❤
the other must-listen song from this '97 concert is "landslide". it's one of the few where i prefer this live performance to the original studio recording. as with pretty much all the songs from RUMOURS, it's about their disintegrating relationships. "go your own way" and "you make loving fun" are my favourites - worth checking out, shon 😊
They met very young. They had their own group, Buckingham Nick's , before both joining a failing Fleetwood Mac . They were a couple long before joining Fleetwood Mac.
Yes!!! I'm so glad you picked up on the tension. So many folks don't. The whole band had relationships with one anther but this song is DEFINITELY about Lindsay (Buckingham) and Stevie.
If I can recall correctly, they had more than a few live performances with this much tension. They wrote and sang their issues out on the regular. Stevie always kicked his @$$ with her writing too.
I read a review once that some musicians talked about their breakup, but Stevie Nicks made Lindsey Buckingham sing about theirs. Oh yea! And Mick Fleetwood be like, hey do your drama, I love my drums.
Thank you for getting to this banger, knew it would go start to your heart, so many good songs came from all their heart ache and pain, good for us Fleetwood Mac fans!
You got the gist of it all! They came into Fleetwood Mac together as a couple, and then broke up while writing songs for the Rumours album. “Go your own way” is his song to her, with lyrics that are biting as hell! They played for years singing and “mean mugging” to each other while performing…it’s part of what made them a great band!
And this was 20 years afterward so just imagine! This is 20 years of anger and frustration because his breakup song, "Go Your Own Way" made it on their eponymous album Rumors (which is about all of the band's relationships breaking up) and hers was cut. She never got over that slight so when it was added to their album The Dance 20 years later, she lets him have it in front of everyone during concert after concert. LOL Let me tell you, these two are fascinating. They get together in the late 60's and break up about 10 years later when they write their famous love songs and breakup songs and they stay with the band for about another 10 years until she goes her own way. And through all the band break ups and getting back together, these two have a love hate relationship that will not quit. Lindsey said in the 2000's that he would always love Stevie and be there for her so he never got over it either. If you listen to Landslide (the version she dedicates to Lindsey in front of the audience) you will see the love part now that you've seen the hate part. Just watching these two made every concert of Fleetwood Mac worth it. LOL Not to mention they are musical gold. She would have never been in the band if Lindsey hadn't insisted Mick Fleetwood had to take her when he wanted Lindsey as the guitarist. Agreeing to that was the best decision Mick ever made. But anyway, without knowing all this, you nailed it. She is mean mugging him for sure. If she could have burned him to ash here, she would have and then probably sang a song about how she regretted it!
there is always strong body language between them. Some of it is showmanship, but it is undoubtedly based on their emotions towars eachother. Watch some of the live of "the chain" for a different emotion see the live versions of "say goodbye". They apparently couldn't make it work together, but always had deep feelings (love or anger) between them.
I read an article about him that called him "the thinking guitarist's hero," since he was the rare musician from that era that wasn't about flashy playing and effects. I mean, the man still won't use a pick! It's not a wrong assessment.
There are live performances where she could not finish the song and he had to..this song means a lot to them both and they feel all the feelings every time. They almost got back together, but his then girlfriend got pregnant and that ended that.
Almost every single of theirs is about the best and worst of their relationship! Notice that the rest of the band is looking everywhere but at Lyndsey and Stevie
I have a friend who regards Go Your Own Way as the greatest song ever. I have told him that as far as I'm concerned, all you have to do to find a better song is to play the B side, Silver Springs.
Both Buckingham/Nicks and John/Christine were couples. The only exception was John and Chris were married. There was rumor that Stevie and Mic were fooling around also before her and Lindsey officially broke up. Another part of the latter rumor was that, the single to be released from their upcoming album was titled 'tusk'. It was also Mics 'pet name' to his .. uh hum uh hum .. so when it came time to name their fourth album [I think it was], Stevie protested and voiced her opposition but lost. She never liked it.
Ooohh I love me some Fleetwood Mac. To check out Lindsey Buckingham's voice you need to react to Tusk, for sure. Very, very cool son̈g I think you'll love beat. (Official Live Video) You can't go wrong with any song the sing. Rhiannon (on the a midnight Special) and most definitely Landslide!!
Stevie was introduced to Fleetwood Mack through Lindsey Buckingham. They were an item for a long time and then he screwed it all up. She is singing to him. When you have to work together, you have to be able to work around those screw-ups. Sometimes it hurts though.
Will my suggestion to you is if you like Fleetwood Mac then just start with the whole album of rumors the whole album is immaculate it's probably the best album ever put out Rock and Roll history and maybe even the number one selling album of all time to this day every song Anna is a big hit so just start going down the list my friend
Shon please do reaction Hall and Oates 1976 at the old grey whistle test She’s Gone for my 64th birthday which is the day after Christmas?? Please!! Hugs and Merry Christmas everyone! Suzy from Michigan! 👱🏻♀️🎄🦋
That's right.
She was singing DIRECTLY to him. But to me, he's kinda encouraging her to "Go ahead. Get it off your chest, I can take it." 💪
There's a meme along the lines of anyone can write a song about their ex like Taylor Swift does, but only Stevie Nicks is badass enough to make him get up on stage and sing it with her.

PRETTY MUCH THIS YEP.
Lindsay Buckingham took his lumps in front of thousands. And this song has one my favorite hooks ever.
Yes, Stevie and Buckingham were together way back in HS in their teens. By the time they broke up (really) after joining FM, they had been together 11 years. This emotional song hits deep. She sings her heart out. ❤ She is singing to Lindsay Buckingham…the guitarist to her left.
Shon: " she's mean muggin him"
OG fans of this performance: " you haven't seen anything yet" 😮💨😂
One of the most electric moments in music history. You nailed the dynamic.
She was ABSOLUTELY singing about and to Lindsey Buckingham…the live she had and has for him will haunt him until his last breath. Nothing like a woman scorned.
He never could get away from the sound of her voice, either, because her songs played then and now everywhere. Just imagine.
Song is definitely about him. What made this so powerful is that Lindsay cut the song from the “Rumours” album. She was devastated and almost left the band. They finally released it twenty years later and this was her redemption for him doing that to her.

you CLOCKED THAT TEA immediately! love how intuitive you are, Shon
You called it, man! I died laughing "mean muggin' him" LOL!!
Yup, you nailed it. Stevie was looking daggers at Lindsey.
These people are all in their 70s now, maybe even early 80's. The wonderful gal on keyboards died just a year or two ago. Her name was Christine McVie. She was staring through to his soul and found it lacking. Stevie is Mother. ❤
She was definitely singing to him!!

This band is my GOAT, You have it absolutely correct!
I saw them on their reunion tour in the late 90s. She was definitely singing to him! It was so emotional you could feel it. When she was singing to Lindsey, he was using his right fist and hitting his chest showing his emotions as well. It was intense

Almost every Fleetwood Mac song is about their relationship. Made for one of the great soap operas, set to music, for a decade.
Shon everything you said was correct. I think Rollimg Stone said she was letting Lindsey have it, and all had to protect himself with was his guitar ❤❤

Watching the live version of the song say goodbye has the same vibe

Yes!!! I'm so glad you picked up on the tension. So many folks don't. The whole band had relationships with one anther but this song is DEFINITELY about Lindsay (Buckingham) and Stevie.
Saw the classic Rumours-era lineup live about 10 years ago and they closed the show with this classic. Amazing concert.
If I can recall correctly, they had more than a few live performances with this much tension. They wrote and sang their issues out on the regular. Stevie always kicked his @$$ with her writing too.
You are spot on son! Fantastic music was created in reflection of the relationships in that band 🎶
This has so much passion in it. Their relationship was toxic to say the least at times.
Fun fact: The guy she's singing to is on the stage with her. (The guitar soloist)
She had relationships with a couple members n wrote songs about them and made them sing them.. that's gangster 😂
I read a review once that some musicians talked about their breakup, but Stevie Nicks made Lindsey Buckingham sing about theirs. Oh yea! And Mick Fleetwood be like, hey do your drama, I love my drums.
That is what heartbreak sounds like!
Fleetwood Mac 🐐 🐐 🐐
Fantastic song. They both wrote some really great breakup songs about each other

9:23 Shon i seriously was waiting for you to listen to this one😂 ..you right on point !
The fact that you picked that up without knowing is awesome
A stellar song + real-life drama, based on actual past events.
I've had a crush on Stevie Nicks since i was 9 and I'm 62 now
This is one of the best and biggest breakup album ever made!
Fleetwood Mac is so awesome!!
One of my favorites!!!!!
Like a real Man , Lindsey took it...cuz he knew. 😂❤
Mean muggin? Lol Yup and she's pretty good at it too! Great reaction!!
fabulous reaction❤😊 You have got to check out “Big Love” from the same concert. Lindsey’s guitar playing is a masterpiece in music😊
Wow so beautiful! It hurt my heart, thank you Shon
This song was supposed to go on Rumours. When they resurrected it for The Dance, the earth shifted. Firmly planted on my all time favorite list. ❤❤❤

my favorite fleetwood mac song❤
Shin you are amazing at picking up on performers back story. You must be an empath. Love you man.
there is always strong body language between them. Some of it is showmanship, but it is undoubtedly based on their emotions towars eachother. Lindsey Buckingham very underated
I read an article about him that called him "the thinking guitarist's hero," since he was the rare musician from that era that wasn't about flashy playing and effects. I mean, the man still won't use a pick! It's not a wrong assessment.
The stink eyes were shining bright that night, lol.
That time Stevie Nick's handed Lyndsay Buckingham his ass in front of a live audience, lol
Your videos make my heart smile
The song Don't Stop on the live album the dance with the USC Marching Trojans
this live version is fire
One of my favorite songs so emotional
All the songs are about their relationships. Up, down, good, bad. But they all vowed to keep the band together.
You are so insightful I love that about you , that and how you recognize and appreciate great music!
Big love and you make loving fun from the same concert 👌🏼❤️
There are live performances where she could not finish the song and he had to..this song means a lot to them both and they feel all the feelings every time. They almost got back together, but his then girlfriend got pregnant and that ended that.
This song is about him most definitely 😂😂
MEAN MUGGIN HIS ASS😂😅😂
My favorite song by Fleetwood Mac 🔥🔥🔥🔥
❤So beautiful!
Go Stevie! 🤘
Great reaction as always, I'd love to see some more avenged sevenfold!! I think you would really enjoy a song called "the stage"
The song was sup[posed to be on the Rumours album but got cut for whatever purposes. So great that it finally got greed during this concert.
Go Your Own Way is also about their breakup.
Almost every single of theirs is about the best and worst of their relationship! Notice that the rest of the band is looking everywhere but at Lyndsey and Stevie
Stevie gets all the glory but Christine always got my attention 💚🎶🎵
🌸 my very favorite Fleetwood song is called Gold dust woman.... I think you would really like that one
You need to hear Fleetwood Macs Tell Me Lies
Heartbreaking. 😢
4:17 always brings back memories...i remember when this came out and had the 45 ..this was side B ... Still makes me 😢 every time
❤
You have the best reactions ever, my brother.
Lindsey isn't exactly backing down either. Is he also "mean mugging" back? Two sides to every story... Great reaction Sir Shon.
…..you hit the nail on the head !!! It was about her relationship with Lindsey 💔
I have a friend who regards Go Your Own Way as the greatest song ever. I have told him that as far as I'm concerned, all you have to do to find a better song is to play the B side, Silver Springs.
The guitarist is who she's singing to. .

one of my favorite songs and my favorite version (live).
Taylor Swift writes whiny songs about all her exes, while Stevie Nicks made her ex play guitar while she sung songs about what an a**hole he was.
Love ya bro!
Great reaction!
Taylor Swift writes breakup songs about her exes, Stevie Nicks makes her ex sing her breakup song 🤣
Stevie was introduced to Fleetwood Mack through Lindsey Buckingham. They were an item for a long time and then he screwed it all up. She is singing to him. When you have to work together, you have to be able to work around those screw-ups. Sometimes it hurts though.
She was DEFINITELY mean mugging him lol
My fave song by them.
Rumours my fav album, have you heard Their song Tusk?
Will my suggestion to you is if you like Fleetwood Mac then just start with the whole album of rumors the whole album is immaculate it's probably the best album ever put out Rock and Roll history and maybe even the number one selling album of all time to this day every song Anna is a big hit so just start going down the list my friend
It was choreographed! They broke up years earlier! She broke up with him, had a fling with the drummer and he left her for her girlfriend!
Yeah… you’re not wrong. Serious tension.
Shon please do reaction Hall and Oates 1976 at the old grey whistle test She’s Gone for my 64th birthday which is the day after Christmas?? Please!! Hugs and Merry Christmas everyone! Suzy from Michigan! 👱🏻♀️🎄🦋
