@@inkoinfinity2 indeed. But I'm just partial to Mick. He's one of the reasons I picked drum sticks up 35 years ago. John is the epitome of funk. The guy could slide in with Parliament on bass and fit in perfectly
She most certainly is. And he knows it. Her beautiful voice and eyes are emoting so much pain to him and he is communicating back with his beautiful guitar playing. The emotion and tension towards the end of this song between these two is so powerful.
This WAS about THEM. This was supposed to be on the FM album, but Lindsey boycotted it. She held the rights to this song. It never made it to any FM album, but she held the rights to the song all those years.
2018 she had a fit over an imagined smirk and had him fired ! Yeah, he got away and then made 12 million by suing them for what he would have made on their upcoming tour ! He Got A-way !
Take in mind, this was 1997.Rumours came out in 1977,Silver Springs wasn't released on Rumours,it was released on the B side of single Go Your Own Way,after 20 years, she took the opportunity to really let him have it.He didn't turn away,he took it.They both wrote songs about each other and have performed them,in this song,I think she especially enjoyed singing this on this night,20 years in the making.
Yes, everything you said is so true. Stevie was very upset that this was kicked off the rumors album. And after everything happened, they got to do this song live 20 years later, and she unleashed 30 years of pent-up rage and anger at Lindsay. This was television history, and one of the greatest live performances of all time.
@@willlowes6574 A woman scorned can really have an impact unleashed upon the intended person.I personally think neither one really got over the other one,and that's why the emotion shows on any given night on a variety of songs. She sings Landslide and everyone knows it is about Lindsey and they show affection to one another on it,all us baby boomers can look back at the nearly 50 years of all the things that happened with this band. There is one thing for sure, they did put out some great music!
The whole performance: their looks, the way they hold each others eyes…full, dead-on eye contact…Lindsey’s solo, as if he’s answering her, her singing “I’ll follow you DOWN till the SOUND of my Voice will haunt you.”..she throws her whole body into those lyrics. I always notice that. And when she sings “Never get away!”…the body language. She even pulls her hair back so he can watch her sing. Her voice even cracks a little after the climax…it’s just to heartbreaking but so absolutely beautiful. The passion between them…you can only have that much rage for someone you love that much, and yet still truly love them. I feel this song, every single time. Loved your reaction.
The most rage-filled "woman scorned" song ever. "I'll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you. You'll never get away......never get away........never get away." Careful what woman you piss off. And then sing with for the next 40 years.
We all get chills from this one, my friend. So much going on there. First off, it's just a gorgeous song, plain and simple. And their voices blend together so well in the chorus. Fleetwood Mac doesn't need a lot of studio effects, they all sing and play beautifully, just as they are. This was one of many breakup songs between Stevie and Lindsey, which brings us to why everyone wanted you to see this version... when she wheels on him and nails him with the Crazy-Eyes. She MEANT that shit she was singing to him. And I give him credit for standing there and taking it. I never realized, until watching this concert way back when, how great a guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is. I never knew how he could shred until I saw him tear up the ending solo of Go Your Own Way (Another of their breakup songs.) You should check that one out. And of course, Tusk, which brings in the whole USC Marching Band.
Also, she was pissed I think because she gave the royalties to this song to her mom. They didn’t put the song on rumors album and her mom missed out on a slew of money.
Mick Fleetwood is killing it on this. Playing just behind the beat. Understated. And that fill before each chorus. My God,he's giving it to Stevie and Lindsay with that fill lol. And he lifts the chorus by picking up the tempo just a bit. Brilliant.
Having Stevie shooting those eyes at me would melt me and then having to sing the words along with her would be insane. Just hearing the words are very impactful but having to sinmg them too...wow.
Lyrics are powerful and to have her singing directly at him. 😮 Rumours came out in mid 70s, this released decades later, time passed...still amazes me the power of the Lyrics. Chris' passing though... Incredibly heartbreaking. 😪
It's not just about their history, but also the history of this song and the way they treated Stevie when Rumours first came out. This was the first time the song was performed live, even though the song was 20 years old already. That was 20 years of unspoken FUs right there.
You would LOVE from this same concert “Big Love” It’s Lindsey alone with his guitar. Singing and playing. There’s no explaining it, you have to experience it yourself. SO talented. He gets a standing O from it and rightly so! Enjoyed this reaction! ⭐️👍
It’s insane that she sings and makes her statement and he plays that beautiful guitar solo in such a way it seemed like her was trying to almost her without words. Don’t care… there’s a deep bond between then that can’t be severed
This was the 20th anniversary of "Rumours" and at that point Lindsey hadn't played with the group for 10 years. Because this song was cut from "Rumours" it had rarely been played live. Fair to say there was some pent up emotions coming out in this performance. That ending is almost uncomfortable to watch isn't it? Something you gotta see from this concert is Lindsey's take on "Big Love." I know you'll appreciate it.
I’ve been a fan of Fleetwood Mac for at least 20 years and this has always been my favorite song, and favorite version of it! So many emotions between Stevie and Lindsey, it really touches you in so many ways.
I have this concert performance on DVD. By this point in their career they were a mature well polished act. Overall blending of instruments & vocals is so much better than their earlier performances. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan the DVD of The Dance is worth obtaining.
I have the DVD too Larry and I agree 1000@ with everything you said. You really have to respect and admire the talent of a band that can sound as good live, as they do in the studio.
The 1982 live version of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain is the best ever. They were killing each other on stage only with their instruments. lol Lindsey was especially, shall we say, energetic. Best performance ever Loved your reaction.
One of the most powerful and emotional performances from Stevie and the Mac! Check out landslide from this same concert…one of my all time favorite songs! Classic, simple and emotional!
I'm still in love. Oh Stevie , what a beautifully mysterious woman. Did Lindsey deserve her. Maybe , maybe not. Glad the know each other tough. What great music they made. Fleetwood Mac...awesome. Her solo career is super as well.
Stevie Nicks…. Man oh man.. she’s a fucking awesome legendary singer… especially on this version of Silver Springs. I’m so glad that I saw Fleetwood Mac live in 2019… this is one of my favourite songs by them and a really great example of a B-side being capable of being as good as anything on a great album, such as Rumours…
You need to watch them perform The Chain from '83 I believe. Whao!! She's throwing eye daggers, he's singing like a mad man while staring at her all while playing this nasty guitar with an insane solo. It must've been very uncomfortable for the rest of the band. It's way more personal than this song. They went back and forth singing as the song dictates and my jaw hit the floor when I watched it for the first time a coup months ago. Hope you get to it. The guitar playing alone is right up your alley. Peace little brother. Nice rockin with you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yup. If you react to BLEED to love Her..same performance, you will see Lindsey sing with same passion to Christine Mcvie...the relationships in this band , truly incredible.
Watch "Tusk" live. It's one hell of a showstopper. It's my favorite Fleetwood Mac song, tied with Silver Springs and Seven Wonders. The emotion in Silver Springs is unmatched in our world, but Tusk has its own version of visual emotion attached to it. It's dark, it's grand, it's over the top in all of the best ways. It's kind of like what you'd imagine if the dark underworld met a flamboyant circus, and then your high school pep band tried to offer a distraction. PS: Silver Springs is intensely emotional even without any of the context that wrote and ignited this song, but understanding the multi-decade saga and the dynamics of the heart/gut-wrenching history between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham truly contextualizes the passion and volatility that burned between these two and adds to the rawness of experiencing this song as it was intended.
Surely you now understand why Fleetwood Mac LIVE show another side with more musically mature versions. Both official live albums FM Live 1980 (Tusk Tour) and The Dance (1997 videos from DVD) are fantastic. Give yourself two more songs (from The Dance DVD, not from Rumours) with the three lead vocals: Stevie: Rhiannon (US no.11; sings itself in ecstasy; great electric); Landslide (only vocal and accoustic guitar); Christine McVie: Say You Love Me (US no.11; country pop version); Everywhere (US no.14; UK no.4; pop); Lindsey: I'm So Afraid (blues rock typical album track; he's going on the way); Big Love (US no.5; accoustic guitar version, brilliant). Have fun with all kind of good music✌
Very few reactions to one of the most amusing concert footage videos ever. Do keep in mind that Nicks and Buckingham liked to "perform" for the audience; those two knew their audience's love of drama. There are a few other vids out there where they do this soap opera thing. Of course, the foundation of it was quite real; they were a couple, though they had broken up in the early 70s.
On that same album there's a song called "Big Love" The only person on the stage is Lindsey Buckingham singing and playing his acoustic guitar like a bat outta hell ! Everyone that has reacted to it has been in Awe with his performance !
I thought she wrote this early 70s about their relationship and that she was upset because wasn’t put out in the 70s the demo version is my favorite it’s raw from her soul ❤
