• How I'm Going to Sell ... -~-
This fall of 2019, the New York trade show for IWJG (International Watch & Jewelry Guild), was not what I'm used to. While there wasn't nearly as much buying, trading and selling as I'd like, this gave me the opportunity to have some really awesome, insightful and interesting conversations in regards to the world of luxury watches. In today's episode, you'll see two different in-depth interviews with two watch experts, Cameron Barr and Giorgia Mondani.

First, we get to hear from Cameron Barr, the founder of Craft & Tailored. He's been collecting and selling vintage watches for over a decade and the possibility of his passion ever dwindling is highly doubtful.

With a remarkable journalistic ability, he captures the history and culture behind so many of the watches that come across his desk. By weaving references to fashion and pop culture into his work, he's created watch lovers out of people who never cared for them in the first place. When I'm in his presence, I see watches, that in my entire career, I have legitimately never seen before. There is so much variety in the world of horology that it's mind-boggling. It's wild how much there is to see, even after embedding myself in this industry for 17 consecutive years. Perhaps one will never be old enough to see it all.
The next person that graces us with their presence is Giorgia Mondani from Mondani Books. Her father is the biggest walking encyclopedia of Rolex that exists, which led him to establish the family business known as Mondani Books. They're the leading publisher in the watch world (they cover other brands as well, such as Patek Philippe and more) and their 40+ years of knowledge of watch history has allowed them to acquire quite the reputation.

thanks DG
Roman your videos are great, you are so humble and you show love to all your partners and competitors. That alone is a great message and example to follow for any person and special for business people. great Job on providing value for others
thank you very much for the kind words Lorenzo
The way you handle watches makes my heart cry.
Hey Roman, happy holidays brother!
I have been watching your videos for about a year, always entertaining and I usually learn something new in the process. I have an idea that I think would help trade shows grow. As you said, online shopping and networking is killing off brick and mortar. I love watches, the thing that has always deterred me from going to shows is the entry fee. What I think trade shows should start doing is only charge a fee if someone makes a purchase. If I got a good deal on watch, I wouldn’t mind paying the fee, but I’m not gonna pay just to maybe get lucky. Thank you for the amazing content and keep up the good work!
We kind of told them to do it in reverse, so that when you do make a purchase your ticket is validated and you get a refund.
The introduction to the vintage watch guy at Craft & Tailored, a well as the intro to Modani books was very useful information info, Roman. Many thanks for that
Great episode, Roman! I never get tired of this travel/show videos!
Thanks Marcus
Killing it! Something for your Q&A now: (used) Chrono Sports: Daytona vs Breguet Type XXII where is your money and why?
thanks and good questions as well!

No offense Roman, but I only watched this vid because of Giorgia. Jk, great and honest content as always. Respect my man.
thanks Derek
I start watching Producer Michael then I stumbled upon your videos now I'm addicted
Man, the bit with the vintage watches really takes you to school. Outstanding
Roman, great content as usual!
Question: I just baught a grale watch of mine (Patek 5134 white gold....looove it!) on chrono24 from a trusted seller last summer at an amazing price (13.5k), to find out he is a wholeseller (backroom office above diamond stores in NYC). I went to see him recently while in NYC, he was surprised to see a private customer walk in. He stated he rarely sells B2C but is starting to do it now.
Now that I know about wholesellers and prices they are able to sell for vs. second hand luxury stores...why would I buy anymore from stores?
Exactly why would you?
Another great video filling your audience in on the inner workings of a trade show. Nobody does it quite like you do. Be Well,
thanks Steven!
Thank you Roman. Another fun and informative video blogging!

thank you!
"its always good to plug my friend...." I'll bet, especially when your friend looks like Georgia...lol :)
:-)
How do you feel about black bay Tudor?
going talk about Tudor early next year.
Truth! I run a smaller online business and once you factor in travel and entry fees, often time it doesn’t make financial sense to attend.
exactly what we told them!
Really enjoying your videos 📹 huge respect and salutes fi Edinburgh Scotland 🏴 peace ✌
Hey Roman, what are your opinions on the AP 38mm ROC series? How are these trading on the grey market? Do you think these will be as popular as the 15400, 15500 or the 15202?
I like them and like the more normal size for a large watch, but the plain ones will always beat out the Chrono which honestly is a mystery to me why
Awesome vlog. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feature my dude!! See you soon
anytime!
Zeenith
Love how you guys really lean into a word 👍
Hey Roman, do you think its possible for an individual that wishes to get into the trading business to get into one of these jewellery trade shows? Thanks for your constant stream to videos, keep it up
Yep, you can come in as a guest
Really enjoyed this video Roman, thank you ever so much.
thanks Firooz
Your aTopman Roman you definitely no your stuff, Excellent vid Bro 👊
Loved that one. Nice insight and mix into your world. Going to pick up one of those Rolex books.
thanks Mark
Nice IWJG watch show, I agree with you Roman the IWJG should eliminate the $250 admission fee that will deter window shopping impulsive buyer. Ithink instead they should sale merchandises like t shirts, caps and magazines inside . Awesome Giorgia Mondani books.
thanks for your comments always Mena
Awesome, love your drive
Thanks for another great vid Roman
thanks for watching
Roman is a really cool guy! Loved the video.
Hi Roman... which Ki Sushi? Smith St or Flatbush? Thx. Love your videos
Smith St
Nice video Roman Thank you 👍👍👍
thanks for watching
Love these videos !
Ki Sushi is the best value sushi in all of NYC. They recently increase their prices, but their Omakase is amazing. If they were in center of manhattan it would be 3-4x the price.
yeah I really love their food, def top notch
Great content ! great channel ! thanks
Hi Roman! Could you do a vlog for every trade show you go to?
Er why....
second that
I am trying :-)
Awesome Videos! Where can we get more information about joining these trade joins?
Great video!
thank you
Was john daily in this??
Nice video dude....
thank you
Why does it seem that you are the only one being completely honest about the market on Rolex . By no means am I saying the are lying but , you are willing to give more info than most . Kind of like they hold back on the answer so not to turn you off the product . Yes I understand they are there to sell but I would be a better customer to someone that said if you are buying because you like great .If you are buying because you think the market is gonna keep going up ,not so much . I now have a datejust2 and a gv milgauss not real expensive models I love them . But hope to run across a skydweller or AP that was in my price range used. What are your thoughts on the stainless /gold sykdweller ? or the AP Royal Oak Offshore Safari ?
Roy, send me this question at roman@luxurybazaar.com
So, did Rolex make an all blue GMT 1675 insert or not? A friend is asking... lol
I'm ready brother ....
@22.49 and @22.55, on the "hybrid snowflake", anyone else notice the seconds hand going backwards?
that could have been in the Editing :-)
Love ki sushi, my favorite sushi place
so good!
were almost at 300k subs lb fam! lets go
How is the falling Euro bad for US buyers, Doesn't that mean I can get more Euros per Dollar?
its bad for US sellers as Europeans do not spend money here at the shows
nice!
I miss the travel vlogs....
I would have gotten up and walked away when he asked for 12-13k for the tudors, the pricing at these shows on these vids are waaaaay off
Can public go in there ?
no unless someone signs you in as a guest
roman knows the market better than all of these guys lol
thank you!
hey roman, as always great job. regarding giorgia (and by the way im pure italian) i dont like her anymore because when a great person with that type of history starts advertising some garbage low grade ETA loses credibility and most important Integrity. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. thanks for the show.
thanks Charlie
Who are these Indians from London ?
Harris Deborah Jones Edward Davis Timothy
INCREDIBLE FAKE WATCHES...
thanks but they are not :-)
the IWJG is just....old and rusty and will run it out and cares nothing on the fresh blood...that show was so so so sad
7:33 bubbles and Julian looking good for their age
