- LoloYodel 2 camera-angle remix (with special thanks to the two angles of Lazy Cow !).
The 1st of a two night stand at Hampton under the disguise as "The Warlocks". These two shows were often described as simply magical.
This 2nd set starts off with a huge bang with a BIG "Help on the Way ~ slipknot ~ Franklin's Tower" which seems to have all the necessary energy and inspiration (in addition to it being played for the 1st time since Sept 1985). The "Eyes of the World" which follows, after "Victim", is very strong, lively & dynamic. The "Need a Miracle" out of space is rockin' with Jerry swaying to the beat ! This segues into "The Wheel" (on target) then "Gimme Some Lovin'". Although Weir turns to Billy (Kreutzmann) shrugging his shoulders, as if to say "not this time, sorry, Jer's decision", this is also nailed and hammered. This set ends with a pristine and glissening "Morning Dew". "Bid You Goodnight" encore (only the 4th time played since New Years 1978 !)

Too many people have no clue how good the deads music really was. That the whole scene following the dead was because the music was so fantastic, sometimes rocking and fun to dance to, other times beautiful ballads by Jerry that just made your hairs stand on end. Morning dew is a perfect example of this. The Gd are an American treasure. I don’t think they get credit enough for how special they were. And there will never be band like it again. Sadly. A band that people will tour with ( it’s not affordable anymore). It was a perfect band at a perfect time. I was born in 1980 and would give my right arm to have maybe turned 20 around 1974 and got to tour with the dead from mid 70’s to 1995. Thank goodness these videos exist.
We will never see that kind of talent again , but the memories I will never trade .
yes, we will. in about 15,000 years.
Jrad can take you there
I still miss Jerry as much today as I did 25 years ago. I suspect it will be the same 25 years from now.
First time I heard this song around 96 I had an almost religious experience. I was 15 or 16 and was very late into a psychedelic night and everyone else had fallen asleep. I had a new dead show playing laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Was just smoking cigs with black light on with half dozen people crashed on my floor. Was 6/27/84 and the space was very industrial and strange sounding. Then those opening notes broke through and the song just built and built and built and by the peak with “ I guess it doesn’t matter anyway!!!” I was tearing up it was so moving. Ever since it still gets me to this day. 7/4/89 12/31/81 5/8/77 to name a couple are amazing versions.
Damn right!!
Such a powerful song. It's like a rollercoaster so many ups and downs thru out it
Wharf rat gets me Everytime "I know the lifeeeee I'm livins good I'll get a new start love the life I should " Into illget up and fly away..
.takes you from tears to hope and joy almost instantly. Crazy
Same here. In 1991 I heard it on LSD in Irvine California and it worked rather well. I had been schnitzel flicked for hours and heard this and was woke up! I'm 45 now, this music changed my life.
Possibly the best of the post ‘86 Dews. This is why we drove all those thousands of miles to see hundreds of shows! The Man !!
9/18/87 MSG is incredible
I mean, this one is fantastic as well, don't get me wrong
@@jpwjr1199 `
i GO back to 72 on this one.
@@clydew.phillipsjr. ? what are you talking about?
This was one of the best set of shows I got to see. Jerry was blazing and Bob was catching the flames and blasting them out to all the heads. One of the best times in my life
ugh nice thanks
the burst of energy during the opening notes of dark star. you had to be there
I was never there at the shows, but I feel like I am one with them now. I've just scratched the surface with their legacy. ✌ to the record store!
I was at both nights @ Hampton, a very good time, and to hear Jerry play on his Wolf maid it even better, I miss this band, 1st show was Boston in 1973, then on the bus in 1976, got to see 150+ shows, if only we could go back in time.
Sobriety is where the so called "peak" came from. The differences in Jerry's mannerisms is clear headed and truly inspirational!
yeah! i got to see the sober jerry version a few times. while the summer 88 shows, of which i saw a few, might have not been epic, they were epic to me. notably, the monterrey shows...brought a friend who had NEVER heard them, and naturally, he was gobsmacked.
i think by this show he was dabbling again, but who knows. still phenomenal show!
While Dark Star the next night was amazing, this was my favorite moment of the 3 shows I saw this tour
Morning Dew, level religious experience.
Happy BDay dear ol' Jerry Sir !
both these night are incredible!! got the box set release and it's probably my favorite 2 night stand of the 80's
Blessed to have been in the building that night!!!!!! What a night in Dead Land!!!!
Just come from a Dew on Tiger heading for Dew on Rosebud
This was an incredible moment, filled with emotion from both the band and the audience.
Morning Dew always a favorite!!!
"If my hair was on fire, I would wait until this song ended to deal with it."
I Was there both nights!
34 years. The mothership. Always 🔥
Sitting at my coffee table this evening...I got to feel it again!!
Thanks for posting this!! Beautiful...miss it.
A very sweet Morning Dew. Darn you Garcia - why didn't you take better care of yourself so you would still be with us today?? We miss you!!
Heroin is a powerful drug!
@@christowery5483 For what it's worth, this was what Bobby said: 'Heroin didn't kill Jerry; chili dogs killed Jerry.'
@@sweetpeajunglebean I love that!!! Jerry was no Vegan!!!!
Thank you so very much for posting cheers
Thanks for the post.... I really like the production quality of this.... Two cameras and cool effects.... Not to mention a totally EPIC Dew!!!.... Thanks... (~);-}
Those 2 shows were monumental!!
thank you lolo
wow this is a morning dew for the ages, for sure...
The band and the staples singers
great set of shows!
Oh my God this is fucking amazing.
good god, one of my favorites
Mule sez--this never ceases to lose my mind to a far away happy memory(~);}
this is why people thought garcia was the messiah. and i have to agree with them :)
chills
21 years. RIP Jerry
wow! my fave dews are 9-18-87 & 3-27-94!!!!
Amazing Dew as always! Looks like Jerry is playing Wolf instead of Tiger! And sporting som white pants.
What other guitarist has such exquisite, delicate fingertip control like that?
There is no other. Jerry was in a category of his own. CC
Tony Danis really? I think he’s sloppy as hell. Yet imperfectly perfect.
Tony Danis Don’t forget his feet. There’s a lot of pedal-magic going on too!
@@user-ju7ze9to4k i was referring to his tone, nit his timing.
Jerry's use of tonal control by fingertip is really unique among guitarists.
@@user-ju7ze9to4k LoL. Listen to Zappa HE WAS SLOPPY
Happy Birthday Captain Trips :) :) :) !
the wolf guitar on this night, Garcia was on fire in 89
Only shows that I attended where I showed up without a ticket, a clue or a dime in my pocket and I got in both nights....some things are meant to be..
"I thought I heard a baby cry today ...but I guess it really doesn't matter anyway!" Nice Job, Jerry!
some of his best work....
⚡️Wow⚡️
And who are these 3 people to give down of thumb I wonder, ye of no taste and class I imagine.
Definitely Top Shelf
Whole band firing on all cylinders and Garcia is Phenomenal on this version playing my Favorite Guitar of his famed handcrafted Irwin's. Y would someone who doesn't like the band even use their time and energy to come here only to give an upside Fonzi.
hell ya jer
godDAMN hampton roads did something to jerry. he was always on FIYA! fuck me runnin.
he had a port in that storm.
Jerry, Wolf, in the zone. Sigh :)
Anyone that DOES NOT feel the dead PEAKED in 89-90 should watch this.
they were better in 32.
We all peaked in 89 90 .. The good ol daze...
Ballistic.
Mother of god Jerry, the mid instrumental peak was IT brother
Was hear!! warlocks
Bob Weir, just saying. Perfect match. All of them. Just falls into place.
Oh mama
yes and ya, please
Had such a wonderful time at these two shows on so many levels...hearing them tune help slip franklins and knowing it was coming was one of my favorite dead memories....oh yeah and this morning dew wasn't bad either...lol.
Was this the last show for Wolf?
I know he played Wolf at 7-23-90 (Brent's last) as I was there. There is also video footage. Apparently, the last performance he used Wolf was 2-23-93 Oakland. I had the privilege of playing Wolf at the Fillmore in SF offstage. Not the easiest guitar to play, in my opinion, but Jerry preferred stiffer action.
Muah
I guess it doesn't matter anyway❤😂😢
How put the thumbs down???!!!!
Someone who knows nothing about the love of music
Obviously hit it accidentally
