What a romantic time!!!! Sometimes you'd be dancing and you'd meet people. People talked to each other. It was cliquey sure, but not hyper cliquey like now. The love of my life came and danced with me at one these shows, someone I never met before, was from another state and we just clicked. It was wonderful.

This is the best recording of this tune by far. Brent was on fire this night at JFK stadium, singing and playing. This is on the crimson, white and indigo disc for those you weren’t fortunate enough to be there. One of my favorite shows. Everyone was so fired up when this closed the first set

It sort of bums me out when I have read or have heard that Brent felt that Deadheads never liked him and that he never really felt accepted as a full-fledged member of the GD since he was the "new guy". Too bad he isn't around today to read some of the comments about him here on RUclips because I think it is pretty clear that the majority of Deadheads loved him and always missed him and what he brought to the band after he was gone.

He had some really big shoes to fill. Brent was actually replacing two members, Keith and Donna. Fans still hadn't forgotten Pig Pen either. Many of us, well, at least I, didn't really know what we had until he was gone. It was too easy to leave a show like this thinking, "Brent did a great job tonight, but I still miss Pig." Meanwhile, Brent was the best keyboard player that they ever had, and was an amazing singer...

I'm not a religious dude, but I like to imagine Jerry and Brent jamming in heaven, while pigpen sings the blues, and Keith lays down some jazzy piano lines. That would be heaven for me. The tears flow every time I play this one. You can feel it coming straight from Brent's heart, and I have to believe he's talking to a specific person in his life, be they past or present. It's so powerful that the band is obviously feeling his realness in this and they're giving him their full support, Phil kicking ass with his funky, pounding bass line and Jerry stepping in at all the key moments to embellish what's emanating from Brent in that moment. The GD smoked like no other band even when they were just vamping on a riff like they are here. This is one for the ages!

I was at this show , the whole show was magical , but " Blow away " was without doubt the most powerful solo I have witnessed at any GD show , Brent was on fire (I to this day wonder what the pill was that he took right before starting , I caught it at the show and see it every time I watch the video ) . After Brent was done the audience erupted in to what seemed like a never ending cheer (I heard later it was just over 5 minuets) , and it was like the aftermath of a bomb blast , people were in shock , many smiles , and many tears (surely tears of joy) . When brent passed away I was one of the people who literally cried for 3 days , His energy seemed immortal .

My uncle, like my dad, said... "There is no god..., I guess cause of the fairy tales, or tradition? I will stand for the music! In Jesus's day... What could be said to the people, that "they" could understand?... Once, my Uncle said to me... "You have a knack for saying in 10,000 words, that most people, in one sentence... I said; "obviously, I was trying to describe a few pictures... "if a picture paints a thousand words"... "Peace To Those... Who Deserve it ;-) And, Hope for those who don't. By far the best blow away Ever! I was at this show... On the field and it was hot as hell that day. As soon as this song started there was a slight breeze. When he got to the part where he says to open your hand... the breeze got stronger... or might have been the 3 hits of acid I took... But I'm pretty sure there really was a breeze that came through :D

Happy birthday, Brent. You would have been 70 today. I didn't see you play Blow Away at this show, but I was fortunate enough to see you play it live elsewhere. You were remarkable, sir.

    It's the 30th anniversary of Brent's death today. (7/26/1990 - 7/26/2020).
9:00 - 12:22 should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an example of true passion on stage, delivering music straight to the fans. That is all!

1989 was amazing, and Brent's contribution was a huge. I think Brent, like all of us, carried insecurities. On a lighter note, the stage set up and colors of those tapestries blowing threw the breeze brought great comfort for many of us in 1989. Having seen almost all California shows the previous couple of years, the crew I was hanging with all were pressing the capabilities of our minds. 1989 was the year that brought us all so close. We new we were safe, you had our backs, the fellowship of the dead community carried us through - thank you for that. Thanks for the post Mr. Nichols.

This song drew me into my first spring tour, when I saw my first show, been so lucky to have found my groove, it seemed like home all those years, I wouldn't trade anything for the first hand education I received on love, kindness, humanity and how to get In touch with ones soul. The bus came by and I got on in 1988. That's when it all began..on tour as much as possible up until Jerry went to the other side. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

In 2007 I saw BW and Rat-dog with Derek truck allman bros, I honestly was just a band wagon fan, to young to understand but I knew I wanted to understand I promise. This was in Mansfield, MA at the Tweeter center, well guess what it’s 2020 and I’ve been in Humboldt County for 11years!!! I more than definitely understand these days. I love you all btw

Great musical, melody, and a classic. Music the way its supposed to be. No gimmicks, the singer, melody, instrument, and PASSION !!!!!

Every time I watch this I end up in tears. Watching Jerry and the audience enjoying the energy Brent creats. I was lucky enough to experience two live "Blow Aways" and the one in the old Cap Centre in maybe 90 was as energetic as this one. Just remembering that atmosphere brings goosebumps! The band never did fully recover from Brent's loss, though with Bruce and Vince they managed some serious good music. Brent was a tour-de-force--too bad he never knew it, really!

Right after this crazy first set ending with this amazing Blow away... the field... which was all grass.. not turf. there was a huge back rub circle. It was so many people that wound all through the floor like a conga line. the entire summer tour was amazing.. best time of my life for sure...
