Another reason was because the show creator Constance Burge left after season 2 or 3 ( it wasn't clear ). Brad Kern took over and the show turned into nothing but costumes, creature transformations and male fan service.
6:33 Brian confirming that shannen was the hardest worker on the show actually gives tremendous insight on her leaving both 90210 and Charmed. It also clarifies why people thought she was hard to work with. She wasn’t problematic, she was extremely passionate and often times people who are passionate and serious about their craft don’t make time for bull or shenanigans. Her telling the crew “quiet” while they’re filming, things like that show that the environment wasn’t moving in a way that set her up to thrive. She wanted to focus solely on putting out the best product possible but because the people surrounding her weren’t moving with the same passion and intention, she came off like the problem. That’s frustrating in any job, but especially when it’s an art form / passion that you’ve dedicated your life to. It puts statements like her saying she “got burned” in context. Like either show up willing to work as hard as me or don’t show up. Those types of circumstances would make anyone leave most work environments. I think her whole thing with Alyssa was Alyssa showed up young and immature. Focusing on things like who is the center of a photo then wanting things changed based off that really just screams insecurity , is so petty and irrelevant but she thought it was worth the argument and that’s exactly what began the problems.
@@mrsuperheroe3162look it up Holly Marie Combs came out all the actresses that were on the show came out and it's all over the Internet that Alyssa Milano was jealous of Shannen Doherty and gave Aaron spelling a ultimatum and if he didn't pick her she was going to sue them
@@PS-Tekkenthe only one saying it was Alyssa is Rose who is hella dramatic on her own. Alyssa was probably a diva and so were the other girls. Shannon just had the bad reputation that made her the easy out
I will stand by my queen Shannen TILL THE END. The heartbreak I experienced as a kid when I started season 4 and realized Prue was GONE.. my god, I might have PTSD
Exactly, they're making a show and the crew were being disrespectful. But god forbid a woman tell people to behave professionally without being labelled difficult or a bitch.
@@jameslyon2338 that’s what I’m saying . If that was me making noise on set I’d be embarrassed that it was Shannon out of all people to call me out. There’s nothing toxic about people who take their jobs seriously.
I look at it as if Shannen was so bad and got fired from 90210 in 1994, then Aaron Spelling would not have recast her in another one of his shows (Charmed) in 1998. As far as the in-fighting between the 4 ladies, I think none of them were innocent but most of the fights seem to involve Alyssa even after Shannen was gone.
i mean alyssa is more openly toxic but pls can the public just see they are *all* huge narcissists and that's why it's so entertaining but still ongoing lmao
Aaron Spelling didnt have any issues with her but the other cast members and production team did. They were constantly complaining to Aaron and saying how they didnt want to work with her anymore and for good reasons she was always late and getting into trouble. Sometimes in life people need to have some consequences for their actions . Even Shannen herslelf said she was selfish
Even though Shannen was 'tough,' it was because she was very passionate about the job and strict. She always wanted to do things well and be a professional. You need to be that way if you want to succeed, and it doesn't mean you are mistreating people. So I think it was very true that Alyssa was jealous. She started to feel jealousy after or during the second year when the show was established as a hit because, let's face it, Shannen was the bigger star, the better actress, and the reason why it was green-lit in the first place. So Alyssa started to find and take note of every possible situation on set to create a narrative in her favor. We know the outcome of that. If it wasn't jealousy, why would she fight so much for the first credit when we all know it should've gone to Holly?
Holly herself has admitted that Egos certainly played a part of the drama between the three of them, but facts are facts. Shannen already had a big name in the industry - bigger thanks to her time on 90210 - and she was the FIRST to be chosen and cast on the show because she was who they had in mind for the show even with her “reputation”. It’s nothing new for folks in the industry to talk shit about someone who actually is hard to work with for a GOOD REASON, but apparently being passionate about your work doesn’t mean much if you aren’t also submissive/controllable by the producers or network. Plus, I think I also read that Shannen was also a big fan of Constance’s idea for the show and wanted to go that route as well so she also fought with Brad a lot about the storylines too.
It’s a hard situation to judge on because on one you have Shannen, she’s terminal, why would she feel the need to lie now and then you have everyone’s experiences with Alyssa, while not mentioned in the video, Brian Krause who played Leo later apologised to Shannen & Holly for being an enabler. But then you’ve plenty of former other cast-mates, crew and even showrunners of charmed and some other well known actors like Misha Collins and Mark Ruffalo who’ve gone on to voice their support for Alyssa. Too much conflicting information for any of us to pass judgment.
Brian apologised for not knowing what was going on, he was cheating on his wife with Alyssa during seasons 2-4 so no one would have told Brian anything since they'd have assumed he was just team Alyssa. He apologised for being oblivious and that they felt he was unapproachable due to who he was 'dating'.
The breakdown is that the cast support Holly, Shannen and Rose. While the crew, guest stars and showrunners support Alyssa. They all very likely contributed to the problems they had with each other which the producers stoked and enabled so that the actresses wouldn't try to collective bargain against them.
I think Alyssa's threatening the showrunner with a lawsuit is the true story. If you're the showrunner and you have to send one packing, you send the odd one out. Shannon and Holly were best friends. Sending Shannon packing would result in Holly being pissed off at Alyssa for getting her best friend fired. Also, the new actress Rose, who replaced Shannon, also did not get along with Alyssa.
@@rrgale55 I still don't get, why everyone blames Alyssa for the lawsuit. Shannen said, she cried all the time. The work situation was toxic and Alyssa and her didn't get along. Why would she stop the producers from firing Shannen? Everyone had the right to work toxfree. And if Shannen was so popular and was the victim and even had the bond with Holly, why should they keep Alyssa?
RIP Shannen. Always stood up for herself and others! I love all the actresses who played the sisters on charmed. I like many wish they could've just been like real life sisters but that's the child in me who loved charmed and wished the world was filled with rainbows and cupcakes. I hope she is at peace now. Like my grandpa says, the only good thing about cancer is that if you die with cancer, the cancer dies as well. So I believe everyone beats cancer in the end. Love you Shannen Doherty, Prue Halliwell, Brenda will live in my heart forever ❤
I mean Alyssa was the most popular of the sister actresses so gotta remember jealousy and ego was involved at the time. Rose is kind of a nut Shannon was like this on other sets and so had a bad rep to begin with. Holly seems mostly in the middle and just hated all the drama but was also long time friends with Shannon so is gonna take her side. Do I think holly and Shannon were buddy buddy and cut Alyssa out sure they were friends and she wasn’t. That’s normal behavior
I have to say, Charmed is my favourite TV show of all time, I have them all on DVD. But watching it just isn’t the same, knowing that behind the scenes they hated each other. Kinda sad really. I always liked Shannen personally, I love Rose but Prue was my favourite.
Charmed started off as a strong, if albeit flawed show about three sisters trying to navigate a dangerous world and having their bond and convictions tested by both the mundane and the supernatural, but any potential it had it squandered over the seasons by turning into a show about a bunch of well-lit sassy witches with relationship dramas. It barely kept up with its own worldbuilding and stopped taking itself seriously to the point there were barely any stakes left by the end. I feel like the issues that the actors had connects to this.
Some key context you didn't include, the show was greenlit on the back of Shannen's name recognition because the show didn't originally include Alyssa, it was another actress who later quit after 1 episode and then Alyssa was cast last minute and they reshot the Phoebe scenes. Shannen said on her podcast that Alyssa found out Shannen made slightly more than her per episode, and always would make more because the show was greenlit on Shannen's name so her pay reflected that. Holly said Alyssa immediately went to Spelling to demand more money for herself and Shannen said Alyssa finding out this pay detail was the start of the feud which grew out of Alyssa's competitiveness with her, Alyssa wanted to be the star. If Shannen were such an issue why is every actor lining up to say she was a dedicated professional, but the three actresses who worked with Alyssa the most on the show have all said she was a problem. And Alyssa is the only one who won't apologise with any specifics, every statement she makes is vague as to not accept any responsibility or confirm her behaviour. It's clear Alyssa was the problem and the producers were too weak to tell her to get over herself because they were too invested in keeping the actresses from doing a collective bargaining move like the Friends cast and letting the drama spiral backfired on them when Alyssa threatened to sue them if they didn't fire Shannen and make Alyssa the lead.
Many actors and actresses who were extras or guest stars in Charmed confirmed that Shannen was difficult to work with, she was a diva on set, she was rude and insufferable, while most of them claimed Alyssa was nice, friendly and welcoming. Danielle Harris (Aviva, S01), Saba Homayoon (Jinny, S06), Geoffrey Blake (Stife, S02), Rick Young (Nomed, S08), Elisabeth Harnois (Brooke, S03), Misha Collins (Eric, S02), Kaley Cuoco (Billie, S08), Danielle Weeks (Sally, S03) also show creators Krista Vernoff, Trae Brier, Laura Starks Napoli... They all defended Alyssa saying positive things about her and/or stated Shannen was a B to them. And then there's Jason Priestley's memoir - written waaay before Shannen's podcast - where he mentions Shannen was considering giving Spelling the same ultimatum (her or Alyssa) that Shannen's talking about. It's also interesting that according to Twitter/X, all the other actresses were in good terms with Alyssa after the show ended, especially HMC, but also Shannen and Rose sent her congratulations when she married David or tagged her in tweets that "OMG I got Phoebe in Charmed Quiz". Shannen tweeted there's no reason to not make up with Alyssa because she's great. Then... out of the blue they all started attacking her, Rose saying she cried everytime Charmed got renewed because of Alyssa, who is a "lie" and made the set terrible, and Shannen claiming that Alyssa got her fired. If Alyssa was such a bad person, why were they all so friendly with her, what's with all these cute little posts I quoted above? If I don't like someone who made my life and work environment miserable, I definitely avoid contact and talking about/to them instead of tagging her in posts. I kinda feel they are the mean girls of the story and not Alyssa. Alyssa even said in a past interview, that she tried to reach out to Shannen after she got sick, and she feels regret about her part in their feud. I never heard Shannen apologize for her part, but it's clearly both of them were at fault in this rivalry. She was clearly not innocent at all, considering the feud with Jenny Garth in 90210 that almost resulted in a physical fight or her making out with Melissa Gilbert's (LHOTP) husband.
@@EvernightDreamer being nice to guest stars doesn't prove Alyssa wasn't troublesome behind the scenes, all three actresses said the majority of their drama was on trailers and not on set. so guest stars are pretty irrelevant to that since they wouldn't see it. i think the worst thing a guest star said about Shannen and Alyssa's on set behaviour when Shannen was there was that in between scenes Holly and Shannen would be at one end of the house set and Alyssa would be on her own in another part. Wow, big whoop. Practically every actor who worked with Shannen on the show has said shes nothing but a professional, you have a laundry list of people praising alyssa but no list of people who've apparently said Shannen was a diva on charmed. funny that. the only person to my knowledge who said something about Shannen was Danielle Harris who said Shannen gave her evils one time because a member of the crew was using Harris to irritate Shannen. Again, big whoop. Armin Shimmerman said Holly, Rose and Alyssa were all terribly behaved and unwelcoming on set. What does Shanen have to apologise for tho? Alyssa said she was competitive and insecure, that she refused any real attempts to be sisterly with Shannen, and she got Shannen fired so I am not really seeing anything Alyssa suffered that Shannen has to apologise for.
@@jameslyon2338 Geoffrey Blake actually said that Alyssa was very welcoming, but one of them was... "not so nice". Danielle Harris even named Shannen, claiming to be rude with her, while Danielle Weeks literally wrote that Shannen was a "See You Next Tuesday", and it's only three of them. Shannen and Holly said none of the guest stars could sense the tension, because it was off-set, but many of them shared their own experiences that contradict that statement. I also watched a video where a girl who was an extra in North Shore saying Shannen made her fired. Even her so called friend Jason Priestly admitted she was a temperamental diva who was always complaining about everything. She was fired from 90210 too, and that show had nothing to do with Alyssa Milano. At that time, Alyssa was probably a diva as well. They were both beautiful, talented, successful actresses who had to work in the same show. They started as friends who became rivals later and both of their behavior lead to Shannen's departure. I'm pretty sure none of them was innocent, but only Alyssa admitted her part in their drama. Still she was the only one who was willing to take part in mediation. And it was like... 20 years ago, they were at their 20s then, and now they are all grown a.. women. Apparently years after the show, Shannen didn't seem to care about their feud, she posted nice things about Alyssa on Twitter/X making seem like they had a reconciliation. Until last year December, where she threw down the bombs accusing Alyssa of doing so many things in the past literally out of the blue just to stay relevant. Alyssa said nothing but positive things about her in the last few years, so why the sudden hostility? After they "made up" because Alyssa is "so great" 😀
And their characters. Prue and Piper got along. Prue and Phoebe needed Piper to mediate. Phoebe had a past of being selfish and evil. And she had a future her burned at the stake. She almost turned evil with Cole as the source. So basically yeah. I agree with Rose there's something wrong with Alyssa. And it's so sad. I loved them all, even Phoebe. I'd rather Alyssa had left. Would have spared the fans and the rest of the cast and crew a lot of heartache.
I agree and that actress that played Aviva saying Shannen was rude and stared daggers at her on set - well yeah that was the dynamic of the scenes of them together so I can see Shannen staying in character on set to pull it off. Some actors and actresses need to stay in character to make the scenes more real to them. I also agree with Holly stating the 3 separately were easier to manipulate than as a unified group would have been.
I think that they all need to take their own piece of accountability and shut up about it. I was a hardcore Charmed fan and now I'm fed up with the behaviour of these 50 year old women. Really has put the light of the show out for me.
Shannen shouting at the crew to be quiet...If a man had done it, he'd be applauded. She has always said she is a professional and takes her craft seriously. I love all of these women. I think the problem here are many strong egos and lots of hurt feelings. What they all need to do is have a come to Jesus moment and work the s**t out so we can get a Charmed film while Shannen still has reasonable good health.
When the actor said they are diva, of cos they are. They are not first timer in the industry. They earned to be respected by hard work. I believe Shannen is a perfectionist, hence I believe that she have high expectations. I believe Alyssa does have power. I also believe Shannen wouldn't be late on set because of her passion in acting. Alyssa is good at acting but doesn't mean that she didn't throw fits in the set, and yes she is unhappy why Shannen should always be in the lime light. Overall what Holly said is right, without the three being united is easier to manipulate. Ultimately it was the boss behind the show that managed the work flow. It wasn't their fault, it was the management.
This drama feels so sad, mainly because I love Charmed, and I would've loved to see a movie or something with the four of them but well, that's not happening.
It's easy to see that there was tension on the set. The producers decided to ask Shannon to leave. Alyssa or Shannon did not have to issue an ultimatum to them. And oh, Alyssa was already popular before the show. She was on "Who's the Boss?" for many years. Holly was also on "Picket Fences" for many years. All of them are already stars in their own right.
It definitely seems like jealousy happened on the set of Charmed since Shannen was the highest paid; it didn’t sit right with Alyssa, and Alyssa, both publicly and in private, tried to compete with Shannen. The show was perfect with the original three, and the crew and the producers should’ve handled the situation a lot better and really had a documented or mandatory therapy session that each lady would have to attend and air out all the issues between Alyssa and Shannen.
Exactly. Alyssa has even publicly admitted it. She said she wished she was less insecure and didn’t view Shan as competition. Alyssa is a very ugly oerson inside.
Unfortunately, Shannen and Holly did not use the on set mediator. That was perfect for Alyssa, because then she threatened to sue for a "hostile work environment" and Spelling could not take on that lawsuit.
This seems to be the exact situation with all female driven shows, Golden Girls, Designing Women, Sex in the City, and Desperate Housewives. The female drama is ridiculously high. They tear each other apart. They fight for dominance of the show. And rarely end with the same cast members they started with.
A lot of women are bitches to each other. It's very sad. I honestly consider myself someone who is honest and transparent towards other people. You do your job, I do mine, our bosses are happy and we can work together? Perfect. Just come to me if you want to talk about stuff. We fix things and then continue our day and we will go get drinks later. No, women have to be bitches and fight for dominance. Why are most women that way?
@LilyRose8959 I said rarely, not never. However, the same drama was there between Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur and Betty White. Bea Arthur saw this as _her_ show and constantly complained about her co stars.
I agree with Holy about everything. You have good days and bad days, for us it was a show for them it was a job. How many times have you and your work bestie snapped at each other and made up later? Or you and the person you hate working with actually came through that day? That’s all this was. It’s just exaggerated because they were woman playing sisters and at the time were young.
Tbh, this breaks my heart to hear all this. This was and still is my all-time favorite show! It helped me through so many hard times. I have watched the seasons over and over so much that the boxes are worn. I wish they didn't have such a hard time together. Unfortunately, tho I will say the one thing I did notice in the show was that Prue (Shannon) God rest her soul, was always the main character, and always saved the day. After Shannon left or w/e happened, they all got their own episodes and problems to fix. I liked that a lot more, and they seemed more like sisters and helped each other. I will forever love this show. I would of loved to have charmed come back with the original cast instead of that horrible "reboot." I watched the beginning and said NOPE! And I never watched it again. Shannon will be missed so much. I can't believe she's really gone.
I also think it's wild that Holly was never considered in the rankings considering she was cast before Alyssa and Alyssa was a replacement actor for Laurie Rohm who originally played Phoebe! In my head the order in the first 3 seasons was Shannon, Holly, Alyssa!
I think Shannon went to the producers with her ultimatum, and the producers called Alyssa to tell her they were unfortunately forced to let her go because of Shannon’s ultimatum. Then Alyssa threatened to sue them for a hostile work environment if they fired her. The producers spoke to legal and the lawyers told them Alyssa had a great case, the work environment was toxic AF and you fired her. So the producers shaken by legal fire Shannon instead.
That's perfectly possible, also they'd want to avoid any bad PR so whether it's a good case or not, the PR would be a huge problem for the show. Shannen already had a bad reputation so hanging her out to dry was the most sensible answer, the cover up narrative wrote itself, 'difficult actress got fired yet again'.
Alyssa documented what happened to her. Shannon didn't. She chose not to. Everyone had an opportunity to speak up. Alyssa appears to be the only one who did. Shannen has had a bad reputation from other shows. She wasn't innocent.
Listen to Shannen’s podcast. That’s not what happened. Even though Alyssa made the set toxic Shannen never made any threats regarding Alyssa. Shannen was first on the credits and call sheets. She was the better actress and had the better career. Shan was also paid more. Alyssa was jealous and threatened to sue the producers if Shan was not fired. When the producers approached Shan and asked if Alyssa should be fired, Shan had in fact said no. Holly has confirmed all of this. Alyssa was very jealous and insecure and she wanted to be the star, get more money and be the first on credits. Holly stated it was all about power. Alyssa was quite cunning and as the other ladies have all indicated, she’s very two faced and made the set toxic.
@@moviefan4life166 8:10 in 2015, 9 whole years before the drama that happened this year, Jason Priestley wrote in his memoir a memory of Shannen telling him about how she was going to go directly to Aaron Spelling with her ultimatum. They were close friends and she opened up to him about her frustrations at work. He recounts that memory in his memoir, why would he lie? It makes no sense that Alyssa would use both an ultimatum and the threat of a lawsuit in one bargaining chip. You usually only pull out the lawsuit card if they threaten to fire you. “It’s me or her or I’ll sue you” doesn’t make sense. It’s more likely than not that Jason is telling the truth, his friend vented to him about her frustrations at work with her costar and how she was going to Aaron with an ultimatum; me or her. Alyssa, faced with the prospect of termination used the lawsuit card to save herself. There was enough evidence to prove that the Charm set was indeed a toxic workplace, so fearing a lawsuit they fired Shannen instead. Her ultimatum embarrassingly backfired so she denies it. I’m not saying Alyssa was 100% a good person, clearly things got so hostile between them that Shannen felt like she had to go to Aaron with her ultimatum. Neither were innocent they both were petty lol. Just saying there is a contemporaneous witness (Jason Priestley) we can’t pretend like his memory of his friend Shannen venting about her work place didn’t happen.
Alot of the comments are focused on how Holly and Shannen didn't talk to the mediator. To be honest, I was in a situation at a job where there was an offer of having a mediator of some sort. To me, the mediator came off as someone looking to see what I had to say and then use it against me. No thanks. Maybe Holly and Shannen got the same vibe? We will never know because none of us were there. Back then, when Shannen left, I always felt the shows focus shifted to Alyssa way too much. That was the sense I got from watching the show, before any of these details came out. Now when I hear how Alyssa wanted to be first billed, or whatever, well after Shannen left, Alyssa was top billed. So, it appears to me she got what was important to her. There are people we meet in life and for one reason or another, we just don't click from the go. Maybe that's what happened with the actress that played Aviva? After all, those two characters did not get along in that episode. Maybe it wasn't real acting..maybe the producers picked up on a vibe and went with it.
These privileged women talking anout “hostile work environment” making 250k a week/episode to play Make Believe is bizarre to me. This sounded like recess during my elementary school days, with pay! And we physically fought during recess. 🤷🏽♂️
Charmed was a pretty good show already even with all the behind-the-scenes drama, can you imagine the magic (pun intended) they would have created if they all got along?
Of course nobody is to blame 100% but i will always feel bad for Shannen because during 1/4 of century (like Alyssa like to said) Shannen was the only one blamed by the entire world (just that ...). She was portrayed as a bitch, a bad woman, a diva ... and Alyssa a victim of the evil Shannen Doherty. So I'm kinda happy Alyssa is now forced to take her responsabilities. Don't forget Charmed was not only a fun show, it was a lot of work for all the actresses and i'm sure a lot of manipulation by the production happened when they were tired. Sad. This show was the 1st to lead 3 women and they were not able to show how strong women can do when they worked together. Rip Shannen. You were a wonderful actress and even with your mistakes, you tried so many times to make good things. Remember, she was the only original one to promote the new version and to help the new actresses of the Charmed reboot. She was not only the diva they wanted us to believe. She was a hardworkers, an amazing director and a true fighter with her cancer. You deserve the best in your new life Shannen.
I think all of them played a part in it, Holly even says that there was a mediator on set and Shannon and her refused to talk to the mediator and in the book of the actor who played Brandon on 90210 he says that when he meet up with her she was complaining about Alyssa and she was going to get her fired so why would he say that if it wasn’t true, there is also rose who only got hostile with her when politics came along, also apparently they were renewing contracts every season so if she was so miserable she could have just not come back. And Holly plays innocent but she is the type of person that replaces friends, she started out being friends with Shannon, by season two Alyssa, then back to Shannon, when Shannon left she went back to Alyssa and had a falling out for years with Shannon and now they are besties and hate Alyssa, I think she is a crappy person. They all need to have several seats, talk like grown women and move on.
Holly and Shannen only recently reunited in their disdain for Alyssa. Holly stopped talking to Shannen when she was diagnosed with cancer. Holly is definitely two faced af.
It's all so long ago it makes sense that people would get some details wrong and have somewhat different interpretations of what happened. Tho it does seem like Alyssa was a big factor in why Shannon left, maybe Alyssa doesn't feel like she was in control of any of that because she ultimately didnt make that decision idk. All the other actresses seem to take issue with her though.
Alyssa did get her fired. She threatened to sue if Shan wasn’t fired. The producers even approached Holly and said we don’t want to do this but we can’t handle the lawsuit so they are stuck in a corner. Shan when asked if Alyssa should be fired said no and was quite professional despite Milano making the set toxic. Alyssa on the other hand said yes fire her and here we are. Alyssa is very very two faced and was quite jealous of Shannen. Shan was the better, more accomplished actress and took her work on charmed quite seriously. Shan said she absolutely loved her job and what she did and was devastated when Alyssa did what she did.
This just sad because it was beloved show. I believe it was toxic work environment, they were all probably put against each other. This was the 90s into 2000s a very competitive time on TV. Shannon and Alyssa each had their struggles transition to adult Hollywood. Shannon had her baggage that worked against her. This show has been off the air for awhile now and we are still coming back to this it is really sad.
Alyssa has issues she needs to work on. Ever since she offered her political views online, she is just another puppet in Hollywood. I only watched Charmed because of Shannon, after she left I just stopped watching it because it wasn’t the same anymore including he family dynamics and how it relates to people. All you saw after season three was corn like episodes. As for the behavior BTS, they should know how to be quiet on the set as the cameras are rolling. As for celebrities, Alyssa actually had issues with Shannon and Hollie being friends? That’s the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard. Good grief 🤦🏻♀️. Alyssa, you’re an actor. You’re hired to do your job. Not make friends. If you want to make friends, that’s your issue to deal with. Not anyone else. Talk about high school, that comment alone made her look like a fool instead.
Thank you for this video! I became a fan for the drag race content but this is gold. I was huge fan of Charmed when I was a baby and it really was a shocking experience that my childhood hero suddenly stopped appearing on my tv screen. So, of course I knew a lot about the drama from all these years ago, I was always looking for information of what happened to Shannen, so thank you for making it so much easier and accessible.
We just know it was a work environment full of women and sometimes, they can be bitches to each other. A lawsuit and threats of firing one of the actresses came. Shannen left and Prue was killed off. Was she fired or did she leave on her own? We will never know. We know the big picture, but not the tiny details. People lie to protect themselves or other people.
As much as I would LOVE to see all sisters together in one outing, I think I'm rooting for a movie about the making of Charmed. You could almost do a comedy version, kind of like Soapdish.
Id definitely agree that no one is ever truly innocent and that everyone probably has some fault in the situation. The only adult thing to do would be to let it be and move on. Are they able to do that? Idk. It's sad to think not. I for one would LOVE to see ALL 4 ladies reprise their roles at least one last time. ❤
All these women need to grow up, and move on. They really need to take a hard look at the people who were running the show, all men…..stay together women. You ALL made a great show for the fans in the midst of probably great misogyny. Celebrate in that accomplishment at such a very young age.
To those like myself that are just finding this video after Shannen's passing: if you are offended at the timing, it is the algorithm's fault, not the uploader's. Check the date, this was posted two months before she passed. I am seeing a lot of very angry comments and it is not at all this person's fault.
Having both Rose and Shannen come out against Alyssa is interesting. I'm not sure if they knew each other before Charmed or talked while it was on. I wonder why none of the guys have spoken out about this? Particularly Dorian Gregory, since he (along with BK) was around the longest and, unlike Brian, wasn't ever paired up with any of the main women on the show. So I feel like he'd be the most objective. I absolutely believe that Alyssa was jealous of Shannen, her character being so popular and how much focus she got. If you actually watch the show it's obvious. A lot more focus was on Phoebe in the later years, especially seasons 5-8. It almost feels like they tried to make her into the new Prue, if Prue's every other line was about her not having enough time to go on dates or go to work. And honestly after about mid season 2 Phoebe just got irritating
I agree I think Charmed was going to mostly be centered around Shannon’s character…of course the power of three and about them being sisters and witches but I think it was going to focus more on Shannon as the lead…
i never watched the show but i loved that someone of such high celebrity status shared the same name until someone said randomly "she spells it differently you know" and i was devastated my bubble had been burst 😪
Im an energy person. Alyssas energy would be a bit more defensive if all this not her character. When ppl are usually “lied” on they get pretty defensive when their character is in question. Alyssa is tip toeing around being blunt. Then there are 3 costars in agreement against u. No case here. God bless this situation and Shannens health 🙏🏽
Shannon was 1st, an Aries. Have you met them? They are firecrackers, but who cares they also have hearts of gold. We all have good and not great, so what? May she rest in peace.
Alyssa is 100% a narcissist. You can tell she lives for things to revolve around her. Because she’s an actress she knows very well how to portray what she wants, but if you look at all the ways she responds to claims from the other women, she always tries to paint herself taking high ground almost gaslighting the fans to feel like “she did all she could” when really that’s true, she did all she could…to make things negative and toxic when things weren’t centered on her. Can’t clear a thing up or give a straight answer, but will say something whimsical like “I used to love roses but I don’t grow them anymore because I’ve been poked too many times” tells you nothing except that she wants sympathy.
I will never believe that Holly wasnt in consort with Alyssa when it came to ousting Shannon. She can say "Alyssa this and Alyssa that" all she wants but the series itself backs this up. The moment Shannon was killed off all the prime story arcs went to PIPER, Pheobe had an a few episodes here and there but 80% shines the light on Holly Marie Combs as Piper. Dont even get me started on how often they took a chance to take out physical violence and way too many deaths out on Rose McGowan's Paige! Its so weird for Holly to blame its on producers being the problem when Holly Marie Combs has "79 PRODUCER" credits in the span of the 8 seasons......I DONT TRUST HOLLY MARIE COMBS
That’s not true. Shan literally got Holly the job and said she would only accept charmed if Holly joined her. Holly would never hurt Shan. The only area she could have went further is when Holly said if you fire Shan then I’m out too, and the show threatened to sue Holly, I feel Holly could have held her own and walked. There’s no way the show would let both of them go.
Ive been listening to Shannon’s podcast a lot. I’m sure when we hear her say she’s speaking “my truth” we’re getting her version of events but I don’t think it was all her and there were some other forces at play
The way I remember things Alyssa character was the most popular one and the story line with Cole which elevated Charmed upset Shanon. It was Shanon Which gave the ultimatum. She lost. 😮
Besides all of that we must not forget that in the pilot Phoebe was portraid by an actress called lori rome (?)! They took Alyssa in after that! In this constellation of cast the problem would never have occured.
Rose McGowan wasn't one of the women to start the me too movement. ROSE , was the one that started it. If it wasn't for ROSE, no one would have come forward.
Interesting. The fact that other guest stars thought that the girls were divas is important. And, not surprising really, as they were all child actresses to begin with, that explains a lot.
Even if Shannen difficult she was a damn good actress and both Charmed and 90210 were not as good after she left. I'm sure all of them contributed in some way, but I still feel like Alyssa was the biggest issue (along with the producers). Unfortunately now we'll never hear more of Shannen's side of the story. RIP.
I stopped watching after Shannon left. I just didn't find the dynamic between Phoebe Piper and Paige to be as compelling. It suddenly thrust Piper into the "straight man" role, which I don’t think fit her established character well.
I loved the shake up of the dynamic! it became more interesting seeing Piper in the big sister/ becoming the matriarch of the family role. Phoebe being the middle sister seeing how it felt when Piper had to step in between her & Prue. Paige being the youngest sister and navigating her way within the family dynamic.
I believe Shanen did a lot of soul searching in her final months. Knowing you're dying soon can bring clarity that most of us never get. RIP Shanen I pray you found solace in the end.
None of this makes any sense. Like how Holly continued to be friends with Alyssa publicly after Alyssa was the reason her best friend Shannen was fired. Or how executive’s fired Shannen because Alyssa had a strong case ( hostile work environment) but no one is saying What happened exactly like was Shannen screaming at her or beating her up, like what did Shannen supposedly do to her. And then you have people backing up both Shannen and Alyssa so the truth is mixed up between that. And for a network to Fire someone based on (hostile work environment) lawsuit makes zero sense unless it was something real serious or Alyssa slept with executive’s to sway them into getting rid of Shannen.
Well she was friends with Harvey Weinstein and his wife. And Harvey was a big name and maybe she used Harvey's name to threaten to blacklist the show if she was fired or one of the producers.
@@VonsWorld1111 yes something like what you said makes more sense but it depends if She actually knew Harvey when this went down because filling a lawsuit based on hostile work environment is basically nothing because I’ve worked in hostile work places and guess what I’m pretty sure you can’t sue over something ridiculous like that unless you physically assaulted someone or something serious along those lines.
@tessax She might have. Because I think Rose called her out on it some time ago. And rose was just entering charmed during the still heated showdown. And by season 6 Rose hated Alyssa and didn't want to renew for season 8. I think when they all move up in their careers they meet with the big names at some point. Hell, Wes Craven wanted Shannon to be in scream 3. But that's beside the point.
Well, Alyssa did do an interview with Drew Barrymore when her book, "Sorry, Not Sorry." Alyssa did say that she did whatever she had to to get work in Hollywood.
I think that the other three actressess weren't real in trying to resolve the issues. It seems they wanted that hostility to continue, at the expense of the show. Why wouldn't you want to engage in mediation, if you want the show to continue? They cut their noses off to spite their face and ultimately, Shannen became the casualty of that, because she didn't resolve it like an adult. Whether or not Alyssa was competitive with Shannen isn't the point; people can choose to be competitive, it's how you react and respond to that, which defines the outcome. No one single person (who isn't an authority figure) has the capability of ensuring that someone can no longer work. Shannen would have needed to demonstrate significant behaviours which warranted her from being fired, and, if she didn't pursue litigation thereafter for unlawful conduct as per her contract - perhaps that's an indication and acknowledgment that she knew her behaviour was wrong (or that she didn't have the desire to fight what she perceived to be an injustice, because she knew she couldn't "win"). There's a resentment and an anger there, that in her last days, seemed to turn into hurt. We don't know what the on-set working environment was like, especially considering Holly and Shannen had known one another for many years prior, and Alyssa then replaced Lori Rom subsequent to the pilot episode. Just think about that, you have two young women, in their mid-to-late 20's who have a very close bond, and another actress comes in to the mix, of considerable fame and status through Who's The Boss, Melrose Place etc. (yet as the youngest sibling) and she doesn't have that rapport with the actresses playing her older sisters, nor does she have their history with one another. Women can, when in a group, especially when there's a close bond between specific women (you see it all the time in reality TV, in real-life family situations), become very "cliquey" and it seems that Alyssa gravitated more towards Holly, and so she wanted to spend time with Holly, perhaps at points uninterrupted by Shannen (because Shannen and Holly were best friends). Alyssa shouldn't have to apologise for that, especially if she felt that Holly was at points being torn between her and Shannen, and because of Holly's rather self-effacing nature, she tried to keep the peace as much as possible. No one can continue working in that environment, and it wasn't Alyssa's sole responsibility to change that. It was everyone's responsibility. Alyssa is the most successful actress post-Charmed, she wanted to make a career, to get ahead and she did. She shouldn't be required to justify that. Holly has also been incredibly successful through Pretty Little Liars, however, Holly places less importance on vocational success it seems. Just because Alyssa didn't display qualities that were favourable to the other three actresses, doesn't mean she is deserving of the continual blame placed on her. She engaged with mediation, she articulated how she felt back in the day and Shannen didn't want to engage in discussion. Equate that to mediation in any other aspect of life; the person who engages is favoured over the person who doesn't. In a family, if both parents aren't willing to engage in mediation, court proceedings invariably begin. In this circumstance, it meant that someone had to leave and because Shannen didn't engage, she was asked to leave. She clearly didn't want to be in that environment any longer, knowing that if she refused mediation, there would be consequences. Her firing was the consequence. Rose's issues with Alyssa are regarding something which Rose can't possibly know or prove (if she could, she would have done so). To tarnish the name of someone, purely because they the spouse of someone who abused you, and to then become angry at a co-star you worked with for defending that person (because they are that spouse's friend) is actually so emotionally unintelligent. To place that kind of blame onto another human being and jump on a bandwagon towards someone (Alyssa) to then form a trio of people (all on the same show who had issues with Alyssa) is really wrong. It's sour grapes and incredibly foolish. Again, with Alyssa's husband - making him guilty by association and by extension, Alyssa, is also foolish. She has no proof that Alyssa or her husband knew about the issues with Weinstein, and just because she thinks and feels that this is true, doesn't make it so. The emotional immaturity of these women, even 25-years later is so sad.
My own personal feeling is they're all a bunch of narcissistic nuts. Rose is a nutcase. Alyssa is a control freak. Shannon is a drama queen, and Holly is the one who goes where the river flows. That's my personal take on all of it. In the meantime the fans of the show have been let down mercilessly. Shannon says about "her truth." Well there is Alyssa's "truth." Holly's "truth." Rose's "truth." And Shannon's "truth." Then there is THE UNADULTERATED TRUTH that lies somewhere in between all this oneupmanship. And that truth is that all of them were equally to blame for what went down then, and is still going down now. If they'd all just get out of their own "truths" way, they might be able to find some kind of middle ground to meet on.
If it was solely Shannen's fault, why does Rose hate Alyssa too? You could argue it's over the Weinstein stuff but maybe she didn't want to make waves back then and risk being let go like Shannen was? Plus if you actually watched this show you could see how unbalanced it became in the later years, particularly seasons 6-8. Practically every episode had someone kissing Phoebe's ass about something.
@@PittsburghSportsFan43 Thank you so much for this. I feel like Alyssa wanted to turn Phoebe into a sex and the city character towards the end, she ruined that show.
@@aya-bbaby5824 I think that's exactly what she wanted. There was even an episode that had Phoebe narrating like SJP in season 8. The focus should have been more on the magic and not Phoebe's love life.
I wish, one day, we would learn the truth! What exactly happened. It's so sad for the fans and the show. It's also sad the conflict between the fans : Shannon vs Alyssa fandom. I would really like a public discussion between them and a resolution of their differences, possibly after a personal meeting. I will always have in my heart the beautiful image when the show played!
Come on, who hasn't heard about how, decades later, many cast members of the original Star Trek talked about how William Shatner was extremely difficult and controlling on the set. Alyssa Milano couldn't tell the truth if her life depended on it.
All I know is if Alyssa really was the issue this would have snow balled like a Lea Michelle situation and people would come out of the woodwork telling their own story but its actually the opposite. People said that Alyssa was a joy to work with. I also believe that enormous pressure was put on the girls and Iike Misha said, its really unfair to put the onus on only the girls. Shannen overestimated her worth and it didn’t pan out 🤷🏻.
Shan overestimated nothing. She was a much better actress than Alyssa and had the better career by far. Alyssa made the set toxic as f as per all three other leading actresses. 🤮
@@moviefan4life166 Honey, post here a hit movie or a hit TV show that Shannen has been in after Charmed? Ill wait. Alyssa, as per cast and crew, was the only one treated them like a human being. Sorry Shannen stan but your girl had a garbage attitude and she needs to stop blaming a single person for her downfall. Next thing you’ll type is P.Diddy or Harvey Weinstein were misunderstood 🤮🤡
@ShadowLynx516 You could say the same thing about Alyssa, honestly. She hasn't really been in anything relevant in the last 18 years. She did I think a movie or miniseries on Lifetime a while ago but that was it. Of all the Charmed cast it's Holly and Julian that went on to have the more successful careers. Holly had Pretty Little Liars and Julian had Nip/Tuck.
@@PittsburghSportsFan43 Holly and Julian Sure. Alyssa was a main cast in lots of shows after Charmed as well as guest starring or hosting as well as her Activism. Shannen has no excuse not to succeed on her own. Having been fired is not a reason. She was on a tv show called North Shore but even on that show an extra said she’s still a bitch 🤷🏻.
Neither Alyssa nor Phoebe had any empathy. I never understood why they gave her that power (probably because Prue/Shannen had it in season 3 in what was one of the best episodes of that year, IMO) but all she ever used it for was to make things about her, whining about how she didn't like feeling other people's feelings.
@@PittsburghSportsFan43 That's it. I'm an empath and that's not how one should behave. Prue always complained when she had it. I thought that when Phoebe had it, she was much more empathetic towards people with trying to help them, trying to listen to their situations, letting them talk, etc, etc. That's how an empath works.

i think being in the entertainment industry can be very damaging to one's psyche, especially for women and moreso depending on how young you started and what productions you take part in, but there does come a point where you need to take accountability for your actions. i think it's a bit inflammatory to say shannen and holly were being "clique-y" when it's probably just that they've been friends for a long time, i fully sympathize w feeling isolated in that environment when you're supposed to be playing sisters, but at the end of the day you're not sisters, you're coworkers and i think that's what shannen meant by her tweet. i also think it's kinda strange how alyssa wanted to be in the middle of the promo photos?? I've always been under the impression that shannen was in the middle and sometimes slightly in front bc prue is the oldest, strongest, and the leader/protector of her little sisters since it's a common way to convey that in both photo- and cinematography, further supported by holly being in that position once shannen left, so w that context i think it's believable that alyssa would give an ultimatum, and i also think it's telling that she did a separate panel from the other 3 at the same convention. as for the weinstein stuff there are women who are enabling or complicit in the harm of other women, i have no clue if his wife or alyssa are, but considering the harm he did to rose and others, combined w alyssa's husband's employer being connected to the situation i do think rose is valid to be suspicious of alyssa's motives

Exactly. Alyssa was the true problem on charmed and all the actresses have confirmed this.

Sometimes in life people need to have some consequences for their actions . Even Shannen herslelf said she was selfish
@@moviefan4life166 If only Lori Rom had stayed.
I don’t think Brian apologized for being an enabler. I think he apologized for just not fully knowing what was going on at the time.
@@rrgale55
I still don't get, why everyone blames Alyssa for the lawsuit.

All of them don't like Alyssa. Shannen, Holly and Rose. I think we know who the problem was.
Honestly I think all four of these talented actresses need to sit down and talk things out. It doesn’t matter if they have to yell.
Now she is gone, a wonderful actress . RIP.
Also I fully burst out laughing at that first picture of Aaron Cryptkeeper Spelling
SAME
I was not ready for that...
Exactly
After they "made up" because Alyssa is "so great" 😀
@@EvernightDreamer You seem to be very veeeery dedicated to defend some random actress. Were you even there? Get a life!
What I find fascinating is that the dynamics between the actresses mirrored the dynamic of the sister's relationships. Maybe that's what made it good?
Good observation. Maybe it was.
@@mary-janereallynotsarah684WTF ..... You are a nuts
@vickischwaegel6122 Danielle Harris (Aviva) stated that the three of them were fighting constantly when she guest starred.
I think that they all need to take their own piece of accountability and shut up about it. I was a hardcore Charmed fan and now I'm fed up with the behaviour of these 50 year old women. Really has put the light of the show out for me.
completely agree!
We could have had more years of Charmed. Now Shannon is gone. Remember, time lost can never be found. RIP.
Yeah, the show was not bad in the later seasons after she died but some others are just bugging.
May she rest in peace 😥💔
Shannen shouting at the crew to be quiet...If a man had done it, he'd be applauded. She has always said she is a professional and takes her craft seriously.
I love all of these women. I think the problem here are many strong egos and lots of hurt feelings.
What they all need to do is have a come to Jesus moment and work the s**t out so we can get a Charmed film while Shannen still has reasonable good health.
Heard about Christian Bale?
Simply put, the common denominator is Alyssa! She has a J. Lo feel to her, behind the scenes mean girl.
Matt - "Let's get started"
Me - ☕ 🙂
Alyssa ruined that show, she made the show tacky while bullying the other ladies.
This drama feels so sad, mainly because I love Charmed, and I would've loved to see a movie or something with the four of them but well, that's not happening.
SMG was labeled difficult, now it's known she was super professional. She looked out for the cast and crew and got labeled difficult.
Who?
Sub-Machine Gun?
@@nathanielfelker9493 oh wait do you mean sarah Michelle Geller?
I was going to say the same! Funny enough Shannon & SMG are really good friends as well! (Were) 😢rip Shannon 🙏🏽
I agree. But if someone like Wes Craven is gonna mock her behaviour like he did in Scream 3. There has to be some truth to it.
Rest in peace, Shannen ❤🕊
Good point!
The Golden Girls had a consistent cast for 7 years.
If, according to Alyssa, Shannon shouldn't be in the middle, why should Alyssa? Why not take turns?
Shannen was the star! Alyssa couldn't accept that she was second.😊
Shannen acted her butt awfff on whatever show or movie she was on or In
I also think it's wild that Holly was never considered in the rankings considering she was cast before Alyssa and Alyssa was a replacement actor for Laurie Rohm who originally played Phoebe! In my head the order in the first 3 seasons was Shannon, Holly, Alyssa!
"She didn't go to Highschool. What are we talking about here?!" Alyssa, Holly ate you up with that one, I fear.
Shannen, Holly and Rose appearing together and Alyssa appearing alone is so telling.
RIP Shannon, not my favorite sister (Piper was/is) but never deserved all the hate she got
There's also the saying, "With time, eventually, the truth comes out."
She was not "shouting on set". More than likely she was directing as well as acting and telling people they were shooting....sheesh
Shannen indeed directed a couple of episodes in Charmed.
Great video Matt!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
I believe Sharon as it has happened to me when I was in hospital and certain people try to stop my friends from seeing me
A lot of the accounts on what happened have seemed to change over the years depending who is asking. I doubt we will ever really know the truth.
We're all know Alyssa is the problem
She most certainly was a problem, considering she's A Lie.
But I think it's fair to say they were all problematic.
Yeah right...........
Yes, she's known to be toxic around other people
So rose is saying she was with Weinstein that's why she got hired and stayed all 8 seasons?
@@cupidok2768Rose is a known liar
So is it true that Shannen requested that neither Alyssa Millano nor Jenny Garth be at her funeral?
It is very upsetting that all this happened, and is happening. True fans hurt over this.
i never watched the show but i loved that someone of such high celebrity status shared the same name until someone said randomly "she spells it differently you know" and i was devastated my bubble had been burst 😪
RIP Shannon, I’ve been listening to the podcast where the charmed cast re watch episodes and she was just taken on before she died
RIP to a beautiful woman and let’s honor her fight she kept the strength for until the day she died. We love and miss you. 🤍
Yes, I would like to see Charmed come back with the original cast. All four sisters together.
Me tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!
Glad I found this channel!! Nice content and very even and insightful reviews/commentary
Glad you enjoy it!
Shannen is in heaven. Please let her rest in peace. None of this matters. God bless you Shannen.
You obviously have no clue how a work contract works...
Rest In Peace Shannon!
Ive been listening to Shannon’s podcast a lot. I’m sure when we hear her say she’s speaking “my truth” we’re getting her version of events but I don’t think it was all her and there were some other forces at play
What’s more important here is Shannon just lost her life ,RIP Shannon 🙏❤️
The way I remember things Alyssa character was the most popular one and the story line with Cole which elevated Charmed upset Shanon. It was Shanon
Which gave the ultimatum. She lost.
RIP.
Thank you for your excellent documentary.
Usher in a movie said Italian woman will get you into trouble Alyessa
@@VonsWorld1111I didn't know that about Wes. It would have been cool since Rose was in the first one.
Much more reason to hate Alyssa. Shannen Doherty made the show and once she left, the show became boring that i just stopped watching
Yeah it lost it zest when Shannen left. The show wasn't the same the dynamic had changed
Exactly! It was the same with 90210. Both shows were much better when she was on them.
@@MdnightWnd I agree I loved her and Anne Heche equally hit me kinda hard. I grew up with them in my head
@TalibMoore-er2bc the show was terrible in season two and three.
@@KrisBryant99 not to me...
Weirdly Beloved did a good break down from all 4 women's perspective.
This video is very well produced tho I'm not sure i learnt anything new
My own personal feeling is they're all a bunch of narcissistic nuts.
I don't agree with ur comment but it's so funny 😂
Exactly! Theres even accounts that said ther worked on other shows that Shannen was a bitch 🤷🏻
Tbh Alyssa’s character was the least likable.
I love it the person who plays the empath on the show has absolutely no empathy
@@PittsburghSportsFan43they even gave her the power of deflection through emotions and empathy, which if you think about it is a pile of crap.
An empath can channel emotions not powers. Even if the powers are emotion based.
Another way to make her the new prue
Exactly
Rose McGowan she in horror movies in scream movies 1 20:40
It's very obvious she was fired. Otherwise why lie and keep it a secret.
i think being in the entertainment industry can be very damaging to one's psyche, especially for women and moreso depending on how young you started and what productions you take part in, but there does come a point where you need to take accountability for your actions. i think it's a bit inflammatory to say shannen and holly were being "clique-y" when it's probably just that they've been friends for a long time, i fully sympathize w feeling isolated in that environment when you're supposed to be playing sisters, but at the end of the day you're not sisters, you're coworkers and i think that's what shannen meant by her tweet.
i also think it's kinda strange how alyssa wanted to be in the middle of the promo photos??
Rose McGowan became a MAD woman during that mee too movement era.
Oh boy, she was insane
