Thanks for this guide as well as all of the other ones! They've been super helpful with letting me spend less time practicing and more time doing good racing. I'm super new to all this (only used iracing for a few months, and I haven't actually watched a real life race yet) and it's been great hearing some of the etiquette and tips.
So far my fastest qualifying time here has been a .284, so I'm excited to see how fast I can get with this cold tire tip!
i appreciate your perspective that *everybody* should know these little tricks rather than just the fastest drivers keeping it to themselves. it's always very frustrating when people try to gain an unfair advantage on other drivers because some of these tricks aren't intuitive, and sometimes they're even counter-intuitive. we need more people like you in sim racing who drop all the elitism and unfairness, and just wanna teach people how to be fast in their sim of choice.
Mark Donohue would tell you finding an unfair advantage is part of the game.
Thanks for the kind words!
@@skaldlouiscyphre2453 then i suppose you'd be fine with me downloading aimbot and using it on you in a COD lobby then, right? just found an advantage so you should be fine with it :)
@@HOOTwheelz Tell me you've never heard of Mark Donohue without telling me you've never heard of Mark Donohue.
Let's suppose you go educate yourself son.
Based
I've also heard that lowering your force feedback to minimum can be helpful to keep the wheel as smooth as possible. I usually just assume that I'll end up wrecked no matter where I start, though, so I don't bother putting effort into qualifying, lol. I'm a shining beacon of optimism when it comes to superspeedways. 😇
Craaap I knew I was leaving something out. My FFB is always low so I’ve never had to think about it but yea low/no ffb helps keep the wheel smooth in the corners. I really do think track position and good qual does have a correlation to finishing position. There’s obviously variance but there’s still a trend. Idk if you saw in our arca race but the top 9 cars were car numbers 10 or lower
If you press f9 I think it is you can change your ffb on the fly same as your mirror angles pov and things like that it’s helped me a lot
Great video Justin! Looking forward to putting that to practice.
A big thank you for sharing this amazing information. A big help !
Very interesting! I always qualify top five and feel like I'm a very good superspeedway qualifier, so Im intrigued to try this!
Thanks for this info. Got a .31 Had pole for just about as long but ended how starting 2nd. Then next race I got 2nd again and won that one.
Definitely needed this one
Had to quali on speed tonight for my 500 for my league and this put me in the top 5 thanks a lot
Man Thank You! Got My 1st Pole in a While last night using This Techique! (Drift Masters Truck)
Do you feel that using a smaller sterling ratio (ex 8:1) steering is tighter) helps ?
Free 🧀 for everyone!! Seriously man thank you for making this information publicly available for everyone that’s out of the loop on this kind of stuff
In todays world a lot of people do not read or look for videos on things like this just look in groups where so many drivers are asking the most of simple question.
This is great to know, makes sense why Hoffman was a little over a tenth faster than me, I got a .350
Ya lol he ran a freaking lap even with that beat my time
I have a question about FFB. If we should run little to none at SS tracks, is a direct drive really better? Or is DD only better when you’re running higher FFB amounts?
Nice paint!
I wonder who made it…
thanks for this video I just took my first pole and won my first race ❤
is it not still true that if you get too close to the wall on the outlap, the wall-aero compresses on the spoiler and drags speed off? when that was first added, one had to religiously stay a lane off to avoid that effect
Will this work for draft Masters legacy car the impala?
You spoke about using 4th or 5th gear. Do you have a standard rear end gear ratio that has to be run, or do you get a choice of gear ratios one can use?
Fixed series (which I focus on) the gear ratios are fixed. Open series though they are not, though the correct gear ratio is usually pretty obvious
Whats the strat got trucks at TAL?
I think it's useful to note the yellow line rule is NOT applicable to legacy Daytona where you have to find a line to smooth out the corners. You can run the bottom but if you don't have those bumps muscle memorized then it's easy to clip the apron, lose the rear end or shoot up a lane or two.
if the shirt becomes available in black i'd love to pick it up! unfortunately im a sweaty boi and can't wear white :( i see the logo shirt in black, i just like the full design option
I’ll check my options again, the shirt is actually a dry fit like an athletic shirt (that’s how I got the full desigb option) that shirt unfortunately doesn’t have a black option but I’ll double check
lol ive fallen so far im not doing arca farm im doing rookies ss farm lmao. its been a rough past few months on iracing lmao. all or nothing and its mostly nothing lol i think i needed a reality check so its back to rookies for this week
actually used this vid to help me at arca @ talla and it works wonders! managed to win a race and get 2nd all while both races started me on pole! thx for the tips and keep making great videos man!! 😁😁
Awesome great job!
What is the 101 mph thing could you explain
Cool tires go faster in a straight line on iracing, but if you stay below 100mph too long during qualifying you get black flagged
I just tried this and I literally gained a whole second in the NextGen, 4th gear
fastest qual lap this week he came out of pits 4th gear. that trick is better and easier than the 101 trick
Correct! That does sound easier
i got the pole by using this method after reading the comment.
however... ruclips.net/video/hOxhMULFiyE/видео.html
I've tried the 101mph thing before and still was slower than just doing the first lap on the bottom. Honestly plate Q is just not important to me. The guy on pole won't be first at the end of the first lap anyway.
Depends on who that guy is.
Now if only that shirt came in black...
When you said, “Look what came in the mail today.” My childish brain said the obvious response….
I literally have never done the 101 cheesing and still get pole almost every time
Whoever knew turning left was so hard.
In my experience, qualifying at a superspeedway means nothing. Avoiding crashes and surviving until the last 10 laps is all that matters.
which is easier towards the front
@@PazLeBon In my experience it doesn't matter whether in front or back.
Using the apron for Qual laps is against the sporting code so I wouldn't really be telling people to do that
Nah that rule is not applicable or enforced on ovals. Take a look at previous guides for Phoenix, and most cookie cutter 1.5s all use apron coming to the finish.
Is a 53.353 fast? For qualifying
That’s pretty good! Right now the best are between .2 and .25
I see what I can do better I ran one race scrubbed the wall some point during qualifying but didn’t know about the cold tire thing having a much lower steering ratio I found to be faster as well but started on pole as the 8 car went to trading paints fast to put Dale Jr on and only led 4 or 5 laps but I won it and snuck threw 4 big ones just pure luck I was on the high side I shit myself
