In this action/puzzle game, you control three Vikings lost in time and space, each with their own special abilities needed to solve the levels.
This movie controls three characters simultaneously. Archanfel (tasvideos.org/...) manages to improve the previous TAS (tasvideos.org/...) by 8 minutes and 17 seconds through much better optimization. See the author's comments (tasvideos.org/...) for what was improved.
Keep in mind that only Vikings that are onscreen can be controlled.

this is my fave game of all time. playing it with my sister as a kid brings back better memories as a miserable childhood. one of the few good things. love it

This is an awesome game and a classic for everyone, I reckon. There’s just one thing that made me laugh: you see at the end where the boss got sucked into space and Erik did not??? 😂 😂 😆 how is that possible, as he was literally standing next to the boss?

Went from tas to pas…player assisted super play heheh i remember how much this games used to kick my butt for those of you who have no idea whats going on here the goal is simple get to the exit…while using each characters abilities one jumps one attacks one defends good luck!!! Ahhh who am i kidding ppl use save states now a days 🤢🤮 or watch videos for solutions… but back then every stage in this game was a pop quiz you werent sure you were even ready for good times heh

The camera is making me feel like multiplayer would be painful to actually play. Still seems neat, though.

while you could play with all three characters (if you had all the equipment for it) it was still a huge pain in the ass because the camera would be locked to one of the Vikings and if your viking wasn't that viking and you fell behind or got too far ahead then your controls would go dead. Even just with two controllers it was still frustrating because you still had to switch to get the third Viking involved.

I'd say the Mega Drive version edges out the SNES original here thanks to its extra levels and imo, better music, though the SNES version's music is no slouch either. Love listening to both.

Well its the genesis. It sounds good but is always weird.

the sound chip was more suited to "rock & roll" style orchestrations as the instrument sounds weren't nearly as sophisticated as the SNES was. I think it's fair to say most composers were aware of this and leaned into that style, so while the DOS and SNES versions of The Lost Vikings leaned into a more atmospheric score, they decided to embrace the harsh rock band style. It is still fitting seeing as Erik, Olaf, and Baelog are rocking out over the credits

it is a TAS tool assisted speedrun. Meaning he is using a bunch of save states to move all of the characters. He is switching between them so fast that it seems like he is controlling all three of them.

There are games that I adore that just sound awful on the genesis when compared to the Snes... There are so many good sounding Sega games too so it's unfortunate some of them just got shafted in the audio department.
