My step dad was a mechanic in the army. I remember him rolling up for lunch at our comuter belt village home in a ferret in Detling, Kent 1970s. I suppose he thought 'I've fixed it, it needs a road test and I'm hungry.' RIP Dad.
Bloody hell! I did the same. I'd done an oil change and simply HAD to bed it in so pulled up outside my girlfriend's house and took her for a ride! So pleased to know I wasn't the only one. Happy days, happy memories. It doesn't matter how much money you have, you can't buy those moments. Huzza!
Smashing video. I was one of those Servicemen you mentioned. I'm in my 60's now, but the sound of that engine takes me back to being 18! They were a bugger to drive in 'weather': in winter you froze from the head down. It was a right twat going down an icey incline due to the weight in the back! You should try corkscrewing in one of these. Still, every day should be a lesson. Anyhoo, good to see one in good nick and, obviously, appreciated. Onwards and upwards my friend. Mike
nice bond vehicle,, james in view of your tedddible record of vehicle and property wastage, the exchequer office have decided you will henceforth be given this for your,ah,,,sordid operations,
I honestly do not understand why any Anglosphere country needs to keep up the km pretence. Now that GB has left the Europeans to stew in their own shit. Can we have MPG please.
It takes a lot of upkeep, but oh so worth it!
Wouldn't want to see that in my rear bite mirror. Awesome video.
can't believe that this is road registered. what a crazy machine

Great vid. It's interesting to read some of the comments and see how many people drove this in conflict.
i can feel my heart beating faster just looking at this tank, or maybe its the soundtrack. NIce vid, thanks for sharing.

dad used to be a navigator in one of these in Yemen. saved his life a couple of times.
Great fun to drive
so very cool
It's soo cool! Imagine driving a tank through a drive through!
Cool name for a armoured car,
have just started doing a full restoration on my Ferret. Do you have any spare seats ?
Very cool car, OR tank!!!
Does anyone make a scale model of these?
Airfix have just announced they will be producing a Ferret this year in 1/35 scale.
Occasionally a kit or pre assembled model shows up on Ebay - not cheap
I want to collect 1/72 scale die cast WW2 German and allied scout cars, armored cars, half tracks and perhaps a Stug III.
This looks so original, glad he didn't put modern mods on it.
Was the turret useful for throwing boomerangs or is that where the Mk1 shone?
I would join the army just to ride in 1, looks menacing
Dont see that everyday!!
The Mark 1/2 has the cupola (box turret) and the last mark used Swingfire missles. AFAIK Jordan only recently got rid of its last ferrets.
They were still in service till the mid 90's in the British army.
saw plenty of these in Nairobi
Now thats what i called an armoured car.
My company car for a while. Troop commander RA in the 80s. The Spartan was a better ride where possible.

@Jonathan Marley when bond dusts off his hands straightens his tie, twont be enough left over to make a tonka toy
Great phone to drive
Is this vehicke amphibious?
Here's a video review of our Ferret. But we actually fire a machine gun from ours:

It's so weird how the steering wheel is slanted, probably the only way the driver can get into his seat
The glacis plate is sloped so it's the only way it would fit without making the vehicle too long. It's pretty easy to get used to.
I want one
what a beast, i am surprised that this is road registered.
They were designed to be road legal from the start.
great vid, but i would not be holding onto a red hot machine gun turret when getting into the hatch. cool though.
INI DIA BAH.. AKU PUNYA KENDERAAN PENINJAU.
I wonder if these are still being used in the current situation in Ukraine.
Ukraine didn't have any. Nowadays it would be outdated.
@@ptonpcAnd so would þe T-55 but it's still being used.

Couldn't watch it all due to the terrible drumming😡. A few inaccuracies but overall not too bad.
Didn’t last long in Belfast when we found out a beer keg put them out off operation!
Rolls Royce engined.
