only complaint: literally only 1 phaser strip for above angle? nothing mirrored on the bottom side? Other than that, I like the esthetic improvements (the thickening of the dorsal pylon, the mini nav/deflector, actual impulse engines)
@@tehpw7574 Well, the Firebrand is very clearly not built for combat. It's probably outgunned by a modernised Miranda, and is only one step above the Oberth.
The Star Trek universe is so vast that they could make films and shows in literally any genre far enough apart that nothing contradicts canon. What about an alliance of civilian explorers and treasure hunters in the early 25th century that manages aquire an old 23rd century federation starship that had been decommissioned to civilian use. Without hard political or military ties, they can go and do things no real federation ship could. Maybe even the ship's previous livery is still on the ship because it was too much work to change and a waste of time. "Sol-Centauri Express: Delivery and Travel" Core World Specializing Solutions
I totally agree with this. It's unfortunate that Paramount has allowed contradictions in already and would always go with some lackeys ideas, who doesn't care about expanding the universe and does the bare minimum to most likely save money while at the same time spending money on said contradictions. One can hope to see better come out of the franchise later down the line.
No everything has to be about Borgs and Romulans that's what makes money even though Nemesis bombed and Borgs have been done to death. Meet expectations and you will (probably? Sometimes? Never?) Make money! P.S. JJ R rated Star Trek not happening was a loss
That would be a waste of time. First of all, the Federation has replicators that can pretty much give you exactly what you want (if the replicator is fed enough "raw material" to make things of), which means that most things don't need to be delivered, aunless it's an illegal design, but I'm sure any resourceful person can figure out ways around it), plus we also know that some things cannot be replicated or transported due to its nature placing limitations on the technology. Next off, as for for doing or getting things that no one could, that's what the criminal underground (Orion Syndicate) is for. Also, while civilians (at least some) do have access to civilian starships (think Sisko's love interest being a freighter captain), it is unlikely that any significant number of individuals have access to a full starship (it would be VERY expensive to run a starship on a civilian budget), and those that do, would have access to shuttles at best for system travel and nearby system travel. If civilians DO buy starships, it's more likely it is a company or planet or colony with DEEP pockets, and who be thinking of buying old ships to boost their own space navies (as opposed to having to build their own from scratch - think of the Ferengi and how they simply BOUGHT their starships and ship-based weapon systems). Speaking of civilian crews transporting goods in bulk, that's what the Federation Merchant Fleet is for (a Trek book universe addition, but not seen Trek series before, I think). Also, TNG had an episode where thieves from the future tried to steal an artifact (on Risa, I think?), making them treasure hunters of a sort. There is a Trek novel where there was a civilian crew that got hold of a Constitution class for civilian use for hauling goods for third parties, but all the classified technologies were stripped from it. Also, the Federation isn't militaristic, and Starfleet isn't a military - it's a scientific organization. Plus a decommissioned ship wouldn't have Federation livery on it, especially if there was no plan to ever re-use the ship. Think of decommissioned ships as car models that are no longer made - it would become increasingly difficult to find the right components and parts for civilians who bought old starship classes. Treasure hunters would also be seen as little more than thieves, probably even pursued by the Federation for looting ancient archeological sites and/or things of cultural significance to alien races. Any such formation would need to be an either official body of the Federation (which is best suited for such a mission, and who would provide the ideal platform for archeological specialists - a look at Federation agencies (below Federational Council level) might be worth looking at for a proper agency placement for your story), or a private civilian organization dedicated to finding or retrieving lost artifacts for homeworlds, colonies or cultures or a totally illegal operation intending to sell any items found on the black market. It wouldn't be an alliance (that's a political formation), it would be some like like a private enterprise, a conglomerate (if based outside of the Federation, since the Federation doesn't have a monetary system as we understand it - Nog joked about it to Sisko's son about it), and Picard also brought it up in First Contact) or something functional, like Private Cargo Transports, or something like that - something that shows private ownership. Also, remember that such "depot ships" would need to have additional modifications made to it to allow it a fighting chance against possible pirates, hostile aliens or internal mutinies. As stripped-down versions of Federation ships, it will be barely functional and literally EVERYTHING would need to be paid for to get it back into mid or high speed capability or formidable fighting shape BEFORE a person could even take it out again, and it wouldn't have the same construction/repair and maintenance infrastructure as Starfleet ships do - a private owner would need to set up his or her OWN maintenance schedule and maintenance locations and supplier network for such parts (again, think of it as a person going into a car junkyard and cannibalizing broken cars for useful components - now, replace the car junkyard with a ship depot (already shown in TNG and therefore lore or third party specialty suppliers - who may be or may be not criminal in nature) - the Jedi Survivor game had a pretty firm grasp on the concept).
I like the contrast between what they WANT to do - exploration and discovery And what they always MUST do - defend the Federation. This clip captures that contrast perfectly!
What makes the Borg truly fearsome is that they broadcast their theme music along with their greeting. It is somber music, serious, dark, menacing. It really sets the mood when meeting them.
As I recall the Firebrand never returned from Wolf 359, but your video is beautiful and the shots of the planet are wonderful, and of coarse the ship wafting by so gracefully, just an excellent video.
