can't wait for the next episode looking forward to it. I just filed for my LLC two days ago so I'm just waiting for all my paperwork to come in so i can start to open my accounts. Just nervous about trying to write my business plan but I'm sure I'll get it figured out lol.
Congratulations and welcome to the club of comic store owners. Business plans are pretty important, especially if you want to borrow money before opening. That is what the bank's going to want to see and you can borrow money directly through the SBA. Their website is invaluable. Thanks for sharing and welcome aboard!
I’m not looking to start a business but I find your videos and transparency highly informative and entertaining. Thank you for sharing your experience! I have no doubt that you will inspire someone to fulfill their dream. I’m really rooting for your continued success Emmet!
This is a fantastic service for the community. I do hope you contribute to the expansion... But you're also flat out educating people on what it takes to be a local business... And, aside from expansion, I hope it breeds a deeper respect and understanding for what you and others have to do to make it all work. Sincerely appreciate what you're doing. -M
As much as i would love owning a comic shop. Having run my open business, its not easy and all glamorous, but i did. Find it rewarding. Im ready to just work in one now so i can get 1st dibs on new collections. Wife and i thought it would be great to have a coffee shop in a comic shop.
Hi Emmet, loving the series so far and how in depth it looks like it's going to be. You're very kind in giving away all this info and insights to the public for free. I'm really interested in the future side of it, and ways in which you and other stores are trying to get new customers or getting children to be the comic book readers and collectors of tomorrow. I know from previous videos that this is a very important subject for you too. I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and here we only have a couple of big chain CS that are doing pretty good thanks to manga sales and then some LCS scattered through the city that also sell a lot of manga and collectibles, but no so many comics. These LCS sell mainly online, with Instagram ads showing preorder discounts and freebies, and a lot of them are only virtual stores. We also don't really get single issues so the comic market is mainly composed of overpriced TPB and Omnibus (we have a pretty closed economy with a lot of taxes and expensive shipping costs), formats more suited to people that are already are into the hobby. Don't get me wrong, I'm also into manga but I'm worried about the future of comics and graphic novels. Kids watch Marvel and DC movies but with most of them that doesn't translate into reading comics. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
Oh, thank you for sharing all that information about your experience and your country fascinating. I also appreciate the kind words. We have 40 episodes so far that will be coming once a week. Welcome to the conversation.
Hi Emmet, this video had a nice blend of personal experience and practical wisdom. If the video had been 15 minutes longer it would have been okay, because the topic is so dense. I look forward to your upcoming show on marketing, and am especially interested in how you price books. Please give more info about the Magic part of the business. I’ve seen other shops do that, and I am not familiar with that hobby. Thank you!
I'm probably going to have some shorts talking about some of those things you brought up because I already have 40 episodes filmed and they'll be appearing in order.
@@HavenForHeroesamazing. I'm happy to hear you have a backlog ready to roll out. I have no intent or desire to ever run a comic shop, nor to open a business in USA, but it's super interesting stuff. And a lot of your wisdom applies to businesses in general. I hope this brings you more viewers, and more customers.
Invaluable video, thanks
Thank you welcome to our community

Keep 'em coming, Emmet! Hopefully this inspires new local comic shops to open up. More comic shops create more comic fans!
That's my whole point. That's all I want to do is make more shops brother
