What higher compiment can be paid than -
"Professor Hindson commented: "I will be presenting 'And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope' to the composition students at the Conservatorium next semester as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques. The students will need to study 2 technical aspects of what Ne Obliviscaris have done in their music, and then use these techniques in their own classical music compositions."
"It is my pleasure to introduce such high quality music making to our students, alongside other music by composers including Beethoven, Gershwin, Steve Reich and Peter Sculthorpe. Musicians deserve to hear the music of Ne Obliviscaris, and the music of many other metal bands, in order to appreciate the compositional complexity that lies within it, no matter what their musical tastes."
From a Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music....

@@TankTheTech I don't see any comment about this, and I really think it's worth mentioning... this song "And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope" was included in a teaching curriculum at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, one of Australia's most prestigious classical Conservatories. The song will undergo a compositional analysis by Professor Matthew Hindson, Chair of Composition at the Conservatorium.

At first I thought the screaming vocalist looked/sounded really out-of-place in the band, but the combination of sort of prog/fusion mixed with harsh vocals really works.

    • @jjoao32
      @jjoao32 3 года назад +13

I am not the biggest fan of harsh vocals but NeO has a way to blend Xenoyr's vocals into their music that you can barely notice it standing out, it just becomes sort of an instrument. They are really clever at this, specially using the contrast of Tim's cleans or the violin. Amazing work by these guys indeed.

Hello. I would like to request something from Trees of Eternity.
Unfortunately there are no live performances that I know of, but there is a valid reason why. (There are some live recordings with pre-recorded vocals) It is absolutely imperative that you do at least a little research on the group prior to listening. Knowing the tragic story behind the album is part of what makes it so amazing.
The songs I recommend are: Sinking Ships (most popular, but acoustic), Gallow's Bird, and Hour of the Nightingale. All the songs on the album are amazing though.
    Thanks.

Lemme throw you a curveball and suggest an all-instrumental band to react to: Night Verses. You might have heard of the drummer's other band Fever333, but Night Verses is where he (and the other two guys ofc) really show off their INSANE talent and creativity. I can't even really describe their style, other than that it's very atmospheric, sometimes almost dreamlike and pretty intense progressive metal with an eerie twist. Dude they might not be the most requested band on your channel - mostly because they're not insanely popular I guess - but I PROMISE, you'll love it! Their play-thru of Copper Wasp would probably be the best starting point to get into their stuff. You're awesome, keep it up!

Cool vibe, I haven’t heard of them but will check out more. Almost had a cinematic feel to me with the violin in there. Great reaction as always brother 🤘🏻 If you get a chance check out Earthless.

You should definitely go see them the next time they play in the U.S.. They are so damn good live, and super nice guys. They love talking to fans.
BTW, the next time they toured the U.S., it was a headlining tour.

I actually saw these guys on this very same tour in Vegas. I went to see cradle and had never heard of them before (I don’t think many people in the crowd had) but they killed it! When their set was over I swear to god like a third of the crowd left to go buy merch from them before butcher babies came on

That’s the first bassist in a long time whose playing immediately took my mind to Cliff Burton... that super melodic, "play it like a classical guitar" sound.
I wonder what might be slightly different in metal had he lived.

I first saw NeO years ago opening for Soilwork in Melbourne and they blew me away. Went for Soil and left having to find out who these guys were! The hardest part was trying to remember the name of the band, were it not for a mate who is an avid fan of theirs.
Their first album, Portal of I, is my favourite album of theirs. Every song on that is in a similar league. That said, I'm a big fan of all their albums

I once was at a concert where I came for Amon Amarth and As I Lay Dying. Unfortunately for them, their opening band was SepticFlesh, which I was completely unfamiliar at that time. To tell the truth Amon Amarth and AILD was great, but what SepticFlesh made that night was the start of my love for them... Wonder how many people were in this crowd who went for the other 2 bands and was blown away by Ne Obliviscaris.

im sure u got tons of requests but, i would like to see u do a reation of the band "Ancient Bards - Through My Veins (liveat wacken 2015)" fun fact: as of 2017 the bass player is also the bass player for Ne Obliviscaris. they are epic power metal. Ancient Bards is imo one of the most underrated bands out there.

Awesome band, worth looking into, thanks.
Another Australian band you can check out is Be’lakor.
And Omnium Gatherum (Finnish) - I’ve mentioned them before and will keep doing it, specially anything from their latest 4 albums

I've got Omnium Gatherum writting down, but if you wanna keep mentioning it, go for it! Haha. Honestly, sometimes I do forget. And I've heard the name Be'lakor a few times so I'll have to check that out too. 🤘

Ohhhh I've never seen this song live!! Incredible! I'm shocked this was even a song that could be played live, and they did it perfectly wtf! Have you ever listened to Karnivool? Another Australian band, one of my faves - anything off their Sound Awake album is gold. Also there are parts of this song that remind me a lot of another fave of mine, black metal/shoegaze band called Alcest. Check out the video for "Sapphire" off their newest album Spiritual Instinct - the band was created by this French guy, Neige, and in some of the songs (like Sapphire) he sings in this made-up language of his own invention, it's really neat to hear. (For my money though, Kodama is their best album, give "Oiseaux de proie" a listen sometime.) Sorry to write a novel in your comments hahah

I'm so glad you mentioned the drummer's "leg workout". He deserves all respect for his metronomic double-kick work if nothing else.
If I had to categorise Ne Obliviscaris, I'd call them prog / folk / melodic / death metal. But they're really a category all of their own.

Love NeO. Seen them live 3x including this tour but in Texas. Amazing live sound. If you’re curious, Cygnus has bass play throughs of NeO songs and also his other projects. He a bad ass and too bad he’s no longer in the band but Martino definitely makes up for it.

I love playing this band at work. Just put it on Spotify playing random when I just want some sound in my headphones but not necessarily something I have to pay attention to.
