You can identify a Filipino not by how they look but how they sound when you let them sing karaoke! They may have Asian accents but when they sing English songs they leave the accent behind 😁 Filipinos are incredible singers!
My three siblings and I are Filipino-American, so I can only speak to being of Filipino descent born and raised here in the U.S. (southern California). My parents were both born and raised in the Philippines...but my mom's paternal grandfather was from China...and my dad's paternal grandfather was from Spain. Us four "kids" (we're in our late-20s--early 30s) are fiercely proud of our Filipino heritage--even though we don't understand Tagalog. But we are always mistaken for Spanish, Mexican, Italian, Puerto Rican, Brazilian, or (for me) Hawaiian--because I have darker hair than my siblings. We're also fairly tall (our youngest sister is the shorty at 5'10"). We're gonna mix things up even more--we're all married to different-race spouses (a blue-eyed blonde, a Mexican-American, and a Korean-American. My kid sister did marry a fellow Filipino-American). You should see our kids! LOL!!
wow, your kids have enthicities all over the world. I am married to a Half-Chinese, my sister married a pure Filipino from Davao, but family name, we have a joke: how can a Tan be related to a Cortez? The answer: their mothers are sisters.
The origin of the Filipinos are the Austroloids , whose descendants are the Aeta( black skin) and the Austronesians , whose descendants are the Malay( brown in color). The Aeta migrated to the Philippines 30,000 years ago while the Malay migrated 14,000 years ago.The Malay dominates the country and constitutes the ancestry of majority of the Filipinos today. Then the Spaniards colonized the country hence you have the mestizas and mestizos (half Spaniard half Filipino). After the Spaniards, the Americans colonized the country and that’s how the FilAm ( half American half Filipino) was borne. Of course before the Spaniards , the Chinese were already trading in the country hence you have the Tsinoy ( half Chinese half Filipino). Since the Filipinos are adventurous, some of them married Europeans , Africans, other Asians countries, Middle Easterners, Australians, British and so on. In short, the Filipinos are diverse which contradicts the Korean gentleman , who said the Filipinos are not diverse.
1:32 that’s very true even other way around, I saw Thai people at least on films, I could mistaken them as Filipino. Also met a priest from Thailand in person, he doesn’t loom so different
Filo here, have 7 siblings. An older sister and I both brown skin, 2 sis have fair to light skin. 2 bros almost fair Chinese skins. The point is diversity is not uncommon among us filos.
I live in Canada, I came here in my teens; 9 times out of 10 people think I'm Spanish. When i get darker in the summer some East Indians think I'm East Indian. I guess i could past for a Spanish or Latina. An older lady from Argentina thought I was Spanish and couldn't believe that I am not she even grabbed her husband and asked him what he thinks. She said she never made a mistake before and I' m the first. I look and sound ambiguous enough that when i went to the Philippines with my husband i have to speak English to him because he couldn't understand Filipino and people would speak Filipino about us and not realized that i can understand them. When i went to Divisoria the ladies would say that I am a foreigner and i would tell them I am not a foreigner and should not charge me higher than the locals.
I'm a Chinese Filipino. Just want to say I enjoyed watching your vlog for the first time and to say thank you for loving our country and my fellow Filipinos. More power to you and your channel! God bless 🙏❤️🤗
I am Filipino but always mistakenly as indonesian for some reason and it's always a filipino also who ask me if i am an indonesian..😁😁😁😁 working in the middle East.. god bless miss nelly....😇😇😇😇
Ethnically Filipinos share looks with Thai, Malay, Singh, Viet, but because the Philippines was a long time colony of Spain and the US and have traded with Chinese before that, physically our features are more diverse than our Asian neighbors.
@@amo_res9266 we do. I have already experienced Thai and Viet quite a number of times speaking to me in their language here in California because they mistake for one of their own. And my Vietnamese friend has been mistaken as Filipino a lot.
i showed my peruvian coworker a picture of my father and he was in awe coz my dad looks so peruvian and this peruvian coworker of mine looks a really handsome but short, like me, indonesian. oh and the the music at the of the video sounds so pilipino. i love it!
When I worked in Middle East county they thought I was Chinese, when I visited South Korea and Malaysia they thought I was Japanese and when I visited Thailand & Cambodia they thought I was one of their citizen.😂 I'm Filipino but my mom great grandma was Chinese and my Dad great grandpa was Spanish.🤪
Average Filipinas are short and ordinary looking, unlike those winners in international beauty pageants . in the olden days, most Spaniards get married to chinese mestisas because of the latter's lighter complexion and their social and financial status
We do have very similar features with fellow South East Asians as majority of us are of Malay descent. The Leaders of the Kingdoms before the Spanish Occupation literally have cousins from other Royals in South East Asia. And same as with other South East Asian countries, a portion of the population also look like Chinese (not East Asian in general). The Chinese people has been doin business with Filipinos since time immemorial that seeing a Chinese speaking in a different language then suddenly switching to Filipino is very common. It's honestly hard to find a Filipino who's really of Filipino or just Malay descent. A lot have a mix of Chinese blood in them. At least that's how it is in my circle. On the note that if you see a Euro-Asian person then most likely he/she is a Filipino is of course, because of the Spanish Occupation when most of these births were due to the oppressors violating our women. Some sad stories mixed into that origin of the Diverse-Filipino features.
It is true, somehow in appearance we are different but I can’t describe how but there is a certain angle or features that Filipinos have! I can say we are diverse but a Filipino can say who are Filipinos from the crowd.
I am also Filipino, i have chinese and spanish blood hence the lighter skin tone but I don't consider myself mistizo, those are exclusive for the obviously biracial looking Filipinos in my opinion. I was mistaken a lot of times as thai or Taiwanese. My sister is much fairer than me, she looks mistiza while my bro on the otherhand has a slightly darker tone than me.
now I remeber how me and my sisters have different facial features. My grandfather from my mother claims he has Japanese ancestry, my Grandmother from my mother's side also claims to have Spanish blood (freckles have shown up). From my Father's side also runs Spanish blood...none of us siblings look closely alike
We love you . There are discrimination among Filipinos when it comes to the color of the skin and your status in the society. It is sad , but it is true. True to other countries , nationalities of the world. I live in USA and I have seen this kind of discrimination .
I’m Filipino My great grandfather in the mother side is Chinese My great grandfather in the father side is Spanish The rest in my blood could be Malaya-Irrendenta/ Maphilindo and Pacific Islander I guess Some says I look Pacific Islander like Maori NZ Some says I look like Mexican Some says I look like Vietnamese Some says I look half-white When I was younger I was lighter skinned and they call me “tisoy kano” (like someone who is a half western caucasian) So I would go outdoors more under the sun for my skin to be brownish I don’t know how I look like actually 😊 I’m just me a Filipino 😊
i remember Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heusaff's children...what will become of Jeremy Jauncey and Pia Wurtchbachs kids, Rachelle Ann Go and husband's kid. Even Lea Salonga's daughter...Filipino blood have already been mixed with enthnicities all over the globe hence the diverse physical features.
Hello, Nelly. There is a word from Dr. Myles Munroe saying that Citizenship, Race, and Ethnicity is all seen from within. No one and nobody can tell and see your Nationality, because it is from within. Filipinos for example are very diverse. Diverse in skin color, in height, in built, in ethnicity, in culture, in morale, in lifestyle, in religion, and in upbringing. But, if you ask them who they are, they will all say, they are Filipinos. The same is true for other countries. We welcome diversity and crush-out Racism.
very true, but not that much visible from outside, not like the neighboring country like thailand, malaysia and indonesia, it's simple to see different skin tone, type of hair(especially indonesia the more east you go the more curly and darker skin you got but maybe not too visible if the area are predominantly muslim cause of the way they worn) the bad thing about diversity is just the more diversity the nations the more conflict you easily get into
Yes Indonesian and Filipinos look similar. Understandably, because Indonesians are our ancestors. They are the second wave of people who came to the Philippines very long time ago. First were the Aetas then Indonesians then the Malays. That resulted to the skin tone that varies from very dark to lighter ones. Mix that with the blood of Chinese and Arab traders of the distant past and later migration of Chinese and other Asians. To add to this mixing, are the Spanish and American colonization and Japanese invasion.
This is Otley Beyer's wave migration theory of Filipino ancestors that we all learned back in elementary. Unfortunately, there is no evidence of his theory. the more accepted theory now is the out of taiwan theory.
@@aldrinvargas2593farming was brought by early settlers from taiwan. The origin of all Austronesian languages, (Filipino, indonesian, malagasy, maori, hawaiian, rapa nui) is also believed to come from the indigenous people of Taiwan
Filipinos are like Puerto Ricans from the West Indies, diverse with different looks, dark skin light skin blond hair blue eyes, dark eye, brown and other colors and all kinds of hair types. I was born there, raised in NYC and last place I lived was in florida, now in the Philippines.

I’m Filipino by ethnicity and I always thought I have a typical polynesian island look with some bit of Spanish from my mom’s side..but was surprised to be considered Chinese-looking by the Chinese! They always talk to me in their language. In my country, the Chinese look is considered attractive, so am flattered by that comparison. I dont have mono-lids..have very big eyes, long lashes and thick eyebrows..and I have body hair unlike the mongoloid race.
the malay race is including thai, some part of burma and cambodia, if you talking about language group it's austronesian, austroasiatic is also malay but having a different language groups
Boxing great Manny Pacquiao is quintessential Filipino. I don't see any European, Chinese, or Indian features on him. His last name is not even Spanish which lots of Filipinos have. Traits admired by Filipinos is being great yet humble. Famous singer Lea Salonga is whom I would point as a typical Filipino woman.
Reacting to 8:13 where they say filipino have nice hair thats ok but the acne I think I would have to disagree cause it’s always warm and humid here and acne is actually normal in the Philippines. I wish I could be as clear skinned as koreans and europeans in general 😊 never the less I love being Filipino and I love my country. I travelled a little bit and I can say nothing compares with the warmth that we have (figuratively and literally 😂)

That is the common missed Conception of a filipino they thought that the first inhabitants or settlers are malaysian , Indonesians and Chinese but if you read your history diligently you know the fact that is not true .
The Philippines was under Spanish rule for nearly 400 years. There’s a heavy Spanish/Caucasian influence within the genotype with diverse phenotype hence the diverse look.
Yeah its diverse. If a person used to see fair skinned ,they usually tease dark skinned.. Mostly, its for fun only but sometimes it could hurt, thats if the person did take it seriously.😅 Thats why whitening product are in demand in the country.
Philippines is the Greece, Balcans, Turkey of Asia. Basically in those countries you find people with tanned skinned, light skin, dark hair, light hair and even dark eyes and light eyes. Because of their history of various ethnic groups migrating similarly to the Philippines. Island nations also tend to build greatet genetic diversity moving from island to island mixing genes just like Greece, Balcans.

Hi Nelly! Great to see you again! It's true about the diversity here in the Phil unlike China, Japan and Korea where they're ethnically more homogenous. Take for example, my dad is from Xiamen, China and my mom is Filipino-Spanish. Pretty mixed up eh? In Saudi Arabia, I was mistaken for a Nepalese, twice?!?!!!
Most of us actually look almost identical to the rest of SEA. How to know if one is a Filipino? Do the famous "psssst". If they turn, then that's a Pinoy.😊
If you are outside Philippines or other countries and you see a bunch of Asians but not sure if Filipinos Chinese or Indonesians, just shout "Balut kau dyan" then you will know! 😆
It is very interesting that you have a sperate channel for Filipinos... this is cool and well thought marketing move. plus Filipinos are always online....
The U.S. has a lot of influence over the Philippines and the Filipinos, and Filipinos love American culture. the younger generation living in U.S. speak fluent English and strive to sound with an American accent, not a Filipino accent, when they speak the lingo. American English is the preferred form of English by the Filipinos because they're greatly influenced by American culture.

You can identify a Filipino not by how they look but how they sound when you let them sing karaoke! They may have Asian accents but when they sing English songs they leave the accent behind 😁 Filipinos are incredible singers!
I agree!
LOL. Nope, not my dad. Very thick accent.
Filipinos speaks English .
hahaha you're correct Nelly , You really know and meet some of us filipinos.
Embrace eveeything as we are! ❤
NICE NELLY! UNITY in DIVERSITY! that is FILIPINO NATIONALTY!
Your entire family has the best chances at survival.
Koreans are the one who are not diverse .
My wife had light brown skin tone and she is so stunning filipinas are just beautiful and gorgeous
Thank you so much!!
Love you ❤ Nelly, our adopted daughter ❤
You embrace everything you are also, Your a very Beautiful, intelligent woman, well spoken and empathetic.
I am Filipino but always mistakenly as indonesian for some reason and it's always a filipino also who ask me if i am an indonesian..😁😁😁😁 working in the middle East.. god bless miss nelly....😇😇😇😇
The diversity in the looks of Filipinos comes from their varied ancestry: Southeast Asian, Polynesian, Chinese, Muslim, Spanish, and American.
Ethnically Filipinos share looks with Thai, Malay, Singh, Viet, but because the Philippines was a long time colony of Spain and the US and have traded with Chinese before that, physically our features are more diverse than our Asian neighbors.
true
Not quite….common Filipinos don’t look like Viets, Thais, and other indochinese countries.
@@amo_res9266 we do. I have already experienced Thai and Viet quite a number of times speaking to me in their language here in California because they mistake for one of their own. And my Vietnamese friend has been mistaken as Filipino a lot.
My filippino wife has kinda darker skin and I just love it . Reminds me of a chocolate chip cookie and those are good to eat .
i showed my peruvian coworker a picture of my father and he was in awe coz my dad looks so peruvian and this peruvian coworker of mine looks a really handsome but short, like me, indonesian. oh and the the music at the of the video sounds so pilipino. i love it!
Are you from Mountain province area, Ifugao? Yung mga ancient Peruvian siguro napadpad dati sa Ifugao sila nagturo paano gumawa ng rice terraces dun.
Average Filipinas are short and ordinary looking, unlike those winners in international beauty pageants . in the olden days, most Spaniards get married to chinese mestisas because of the latter's lighter complexion and their social and financial status
nice one. how's that for a lesson in genetics. What percent of your blood is Chinese, Spanish. The greater percentage is Filipino
They are nice looking easygoing people!👍🏽
We do have very similar features with fellow South East Asians as majority of us are of Malay descent.
Some sad stories mixed into that origin of the Diverse-Filipino features.
you're goreous too miss nelly...God bless u,more power..thanks for loving the PH. ^_^
Hi.. Nelly im watching your channel from bohol Philippines ❤
When I went to Singapore, I greeted the immigration with "Good afternoon". . It's unusual, it's Malaysian..
thanks for the post Ma'am. I love it 💯%
It is true, somehow in appearance we are different but I can’t describe how but there is a certain angle or features that Filipinos have!
I’m Filipino
My great grandfather in the mother side is Chinese
My great grandfather in the father side is Spanish
The rest in my blood could be Malaya-Irrendenta/ Maphilindo and Pacific Islander I guess
Some says I look Pacific Islander like Maori NZ
Some says I look like Mexican
Some says I look like Vietnamese
Some says I look half-white
When I was younger I was lighter skinned and they call me “tisoy kano” (like someone who is a half western caucasian)
So I would go outdoors more under the sun for my skin to be brownish
I don’t know how I look like actually 😊
I’m just me
a Filipino 😊
Hey there 🙂
same, part chinese, part spanish, but looks like hindi 😆 100% filipina..
i remember Nico Bolzico and Solenn Heusaff's children...what will become of Jeremy Jauncey and Pia Wurtchbachs kids, Rachelle Ann Go and husband's kid. Even Lea Salonga's daughter...Filipino blood have already been mixed with enthnicities all over the globe hence the diverse physical features.
You would know in our smiles, happy and very diverse people ❤🇵🇭
Hello, Nelly. We welcome diversity and crush-out Racism.
very true, but not that much visible from outside, not like the neighboring country like thailand, malaysia and indonesia, it's simple to see different skin tone, type of hair(especially indonesia the more east you go the more curly and darker skin you got but maybe not too visible if the area are predominantly muslim cause of the way they worn) the bad thing about diversity is just the more diversity the nations the more conflict you easily get into
Im a Filipino born and raised in Hawaii, sometimes it feels like we are the majority here
try Guam
FYI-INDONESIANS IS ONE OF OUR ANCESTORS THRU LANDBRIDGES.
My parents ancestors were Chinese,Spanish and Germans.
We love you Nellie! Cheers!
Good topic Nelly!
Hi, Lady Nelly interesting topic...
Filipinos are brown in color kayumanggi color of our skin...im full filipino blood...
Black brown hair!
I have brown eyes!
Who taught our ancestor how to build rice terraces?
@@aldrinvargas2593farming was brought by early settlers from taiwan. The origin of all Austronesian languages, (Filipino, indonesian, malagasy, maori, hawaiian, rapa nui) is also believed to come from the indigenous people of Taiwan
Filipinos are like Puerto Ricans from the West Indies, diverse with different looks, dark skin light skin blond hair blue eyes, dark eye, brown and other colors and all kinds of hair types. I was born there, raised in NYC and last place I lived was in florida, now in the Philippines.
blue eyes are not common with filipinos
Majority of filipinos are austronesian there are only few mix here
But all in all Filipinos are , happy, loving and hospitable people and above all we love singing and dancing 😂
Love uou guys,God bless you all❤❤❤
THE BEST VLOG 100%X INFINITY!!!
❤️❤️
Oh I am a white person in Mindanao and I am called 'Cano (for Americano) or Joe. I remember when I first came to Cebu in 86, I was treated like a movie star because I was the only white person in the city. They all yelled Americano in excitement and I told them I was Canadian, they asked me if that was in America. Now that there are a million Filipinos in Canada, it seems every one has a cousin or relative in Canada
Here in Norway they mistaken me as vietnamese or a thai.......but when am in the Philippines people there sees me as a foreigner....quiet funny bcos they even starts to talk tagalog behind me saying that am from diff country , which i truly understood what they saying....they dont even have any clue that am a real PNOY- Tagalog na Tagalog.
it depends dude if your from luzon you look more thai but if your from visayas or mindanao you look more malay
I'm Pinoy but mistakenly as a Thai 😅 When I was in Kuwait airport waiting for my flight to Dubai an Arab lady ask me if I'm from Thailand 😊I said no! I'm from Philippines,I'm Filipino 😊and she said oh Fi li pi no? with confused reaction 😅😅😅
Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia had common ancestry, the Malay race.
the malay race is including thai, some part of burma and cambodia, if you talking about language group it's austronesian, austroasiatic is also malay but having a different language groups
Hello Ms Nelly.... Proud Filipino here😊
Hello 😊 nice to meet you!
He has Australoid features. He has pronounced brow ridges. Not your typical Filipino.
I agree 🙂😀
Nellie I'm a new filipino new subscriber from Houston Tx USA 🇺🇸 my 2 handsome boys are both mixed oldest one german 3/4 Cherokee indian Irish + filipino 2nd one mixed 🇷🇺 Russian Ukraine 🇺🇦 slavic Scandinavian polish plus filipino both has very Europeans features.I tell you what Nellie when they were 5 years old they asked me the same question like why I'm darker and their mama is lighter really good questioned my replied was my mom put me to the oven too long.now 2 question they asked me why my nose is not like the mother my answered was the Philippines has lots of strong typhoon that can knock out coconut tree. cute
I know a filipina vlogger that bright white, another thats dark brown, and several in between. Most have similar noses, including my grandsons who are half Filipino..
Indonesians and Malaysians are literally one of the first settlers in the Philippines so it's no surprise that we look very much like them.
Correction Indonesians and malaysian are not the first settlers here , is in our history that's the fact.
That is the common missed Conception of a filipino they thought that the first inhabitants or settlers are malaysian , Indonesians and Chinese but if you read your history diligently you know the fact that is not true .
First filipino settlers are closed related to taiwan Aborigines.
Which mean we are conquerors and a colonizers.
Thank you for sharing 😊
My wife is from Mindanao, and she has beautiful, dark-brown skin, straight, long black hair, and her smile lights up the entire western side of Mount Apo. She is 4'7" tall and weighs 97 lbs. We have been married for 7 years and she is my living doll. 🇺🇸🇵🇭
Congratulations. Treasure her, she's a gem.
When I was in Watar I thought the Nepalese working and I was asking for directions in tagalog. 😂😂😂
The Korean who wept to Cebu found that Filipino looks like korean probably he saw a korean living in Cebu
filipinos are pilosopo and let laug in minute hours days..........igorots are of chinese japanese malay idonesian features.
A Filipino changed my life. Yet we never met. They accent while speaking English is so beautiful
Most of us actually look almost identical to the rest of SEA.
How to know if one is a Filipino? Do the famous "psssst". If they turn, then that's a Pinoy.😊
Yell balot at the middle of the crowd, and they will respond "penoy"
😂
@@nicanortiongzhon8785😂😂😂
lol
Proud beautiful Filipina here ❤❤❤
They have round faces, square, triangle, box, and oval faces. Most have beautiful long black hair, curly kinky and wavy hair. Most have full lips.
If you are outside Philippines or other countries and you see a bunch of Asians but not sure if Filipinos Chinese or Indonesians, just shout "Balut kau dyan" then you will know! 😆
Or the psst and hoy thing hahah. If they look at then they are Filipino 😂😂
@@kyozki6716hoy would be the most effective. 😂😂😂
Hi Nelly I think grey of MIHV is a very typical filipina beauty… 😮😊
Thats so true, ive recognize that also lol, but maybe please refrain from mentioning her? but i dnt know if its ok?
I'm a dark Filipino and every time fellow friends bully/tease me because I'm dark, I just reply "be prepared tonight, I'll be invisible" 😈😂
🤣🤣
We always tease each other. By skin tone, region etc. But it is all fun. We don’t get easily offended.
You are Filipino now Nelly because of your feature and color😊
