Naka produces many different videos, this is true and it is already something. But if instead of trying a workout he had tried to do some free combat he would have seen something much more radical: his karate can't really work against someone trained for MMA like Chinzo. If he then wanted to try Lyoto Machida things would be even MUCH worse for him...

@@shotokar4211 I would not necessarily agree with that. He would be able to hold His own. Even the dragon got submitted, but He used a lot of Shotokan techniques in a lot of His big wins!

The most beautiful thing is this video is to see how proud Yoshizo Sensei is to witness his son share his teachings with one of the greatest ambassador of shotokan in the World.
Machida Sensei leaved Japan decades ago to contribute to karate and japan's evolution.
Seeing his children having such a great recognition with karate must be really heart warming for him.

One of karate's advantages IMO is that the tsuki can come from any position, be it the hip at big distance or from high guard in close quarters.
The disadvantage of traditional karate in a cage fight is that most techniques are linear, so, a bit of boxing hands integration would help.
Lead hook when checking the jab for example needs some hip rotation.
Needless to say I'm happy and proud of Lyoto's success and I've cheered for him for a long time.
I wish good health for the Machida family, long life and success in their journey.
Best of health to Naka sensei also, he's an important asset to the Shotokan community and we enjoy watching through RUclips.

Fantastic. Three giant warriors from the Shotokan tradition, showing the versatility of true karate! Sensei Naka is the perfect martial warrior. I have never seen someone so good being so humble and thirsty to learn always something new. Sensei Machida Sr., a long term hero, and his son & great champion Lyoto, what could I say? Touching moment! Thank you so much for that! Oss

I think its because its essentially shotokan. However you will notice that with his superman punch he needs more practice. Also his hooks and uppercut can use more shoulders.
But yes, compared to most he did well.
      He will perfect it evrntually.
Now he just has to experience full contact and continuous blows with grappling. Something that the Machidas are more versed at.

I'm more and more convinced that Machida Karate needs to be in every city across the United States. This is the most practical style of Karate I've ever seen. So simple to learn too. Practice, practice, practice, and it becomes ingrained in you. I did a lot of online training with this system and even though I now practice a different style (just simply for sparring if I'm honest) everything I learned from Machida is what I fall back on all the time. It works.

Thank you sensei Machida and Naka. We true lovers of karate and mma really enjoyed presence of extraordinary karatekas in one room. Both sensei Naka and Machida are really ones who escape from toxic cultism of martial arts, which is very close minded, that is why their skills wont improve, and we are very greatful for you and your combat practical application of true shotokan karate. Karate is true combat art, sure it does develop a characther, but when used, its brutal, fast and efficient. just like it needs to be, not like those soft bullshit mcdojos, who use excuses of their inner calmnes just to avoid fight.

To see karate used in practical ways is inspiring and how kihon training actually helps when doing bunkai.

Nice! It was so fun to watch it! Naka Sensei is one of my favorite karate masters and Machida Family is the bridge between traditional karate and modern martial arts. Thank you so much for that combinations, I already put them in to my training routine! And if you combine them in one flowing motion, you later should apply a bunkai for this kata as well ) I mean, this is how all katas appeared in this world!
    Ossu!

    Shotokan Karate is My favorit....🥋
Lyoto Machida is probably the first person from the Shotokan school to win the UFC, we as Karateka who are shotokan are very proud of him, hopefully there will be UFC champions from the Shotokan karate stream like Lyoto Machida, Sensei Naka you are also great 😊
