Hey fans, thanks for all the kind words here. This was my first fight after a 12 year layoff. I had a blast. I’m 44 years old 👊🏻. I want to thank all the fans, the Karate Combat team and of course my 9Round family. I’ll be back at it Feb 23 in Mexico City. I feel I worked the kinks out and will be at my best come my next bout in the pit.. Keep kicking everyone.
As a 61-year-old nearing my second BB, I thought the fight was entertaining. I was a fan of the UFC up until a few years ago; I was a huge fan of Lyoto Machida. Shannon Hudson's skill set is impressive. I came up in the late 70's and the 80's when all of this was just starting to really crank up, when ESPN actually broadcast sports and presented the PKA and some other martial arts presentations as well. I like the Karate Combat format with one notable exception: I don't like the prohibition against thigh kicks. I believe those are an incredible weapon. They were used to great effect by Rob Kaman and by the competitors in K-1. Rick Roufus found that he had to become conversant in that technique if he wanted to compete internationally (I was a Roufus fan).
Congratulations to both of you chinzo Machida and Shannon Hudson... Wonderful technical performance and respect for each competitor...thanks for inspiring.. greetings from Colombia. I am Goju-Ryu Shodokan practitioner.

@@averymemorablename329 people need to understand that karate can't be scored like boxing. Effectiveness and technique are the main aspect of karate's philosophy. This is the best venue for Karate stylists. My criticism is and still will be the time spent mastering Kata that will never be used in a fight in your life. Show me a single fight won with a horse stance and a technique from it winning a fight.

@@MatthewNguyen-zx3de The fighters in the UFC are often not fully trained Okinawan Strikers. It takes 6 to 10 years ot get a black belt in real Okinawan karate alone. A real Isshinryu thrust kick leaves a bruise that takes 2 weeks to heal up, same weight class vs same weight.
