He was great. He one of my favorite fighter. Karate style makes MMA more interesting. Add more dimension to MMA. Like the philly shell or Peek a boo styles in boxing. Everybody don't need to be Muy Thai style fighters to be champ.

Lyoto has been consistent as a martial artist and still looks great for his longevity in his career. Most of his opponents have retired or let themselves go. He's up there with GSP in terms of discipline and professionalism.

O rafael tinha tudo para ganhar, bem mais jovem, potência, e gás... porem teve pouca explosão durante a luta, sempre que fez apavorou o machida, porém a experiência do lyoto fez com que ele gerenciasse melhor a luta. Merecido para o lyoto
Onde a experiência fez diferença... O caba era duro demais no strike, Machida levou pro chão no final... Adaptabilidade numa luta e na vida fazem toda a diferença. Oss.

Ive always loved watching lyoto. His style is meant more for being faster. I feel thats why he won at lhw so much because he was faster than anyone else. Now that he fights at middleweight others being even close in speed makes him lose more imo. But hes older now. Love the guy
Karate is legit. It works on the highest level of MMA. Wonderboy is past his Prime and dominate elite MMA fighters. Imagine Wonderboy in MMA in his Prime. GSP claimed his back ground is Karate and he doesn't like sacrifice movement because of it. He is also one of the best MMA fighters of all time. Karate won UFC belts and on of the best MMA fighter of all time had Karate background. You can't get more legit than that. I think Karate makes MMA more interesting. It's like the Peek-a-boo style or Philly Shell style in boxing. They all work and they all have their strength and weakness, but these styles can also win belts.

Hell yeah! Lyoto Machida. Man. Still in great shape. Raphael also put in a good showing. Probably trained in camp to go to the ground to avoid getting into a stand and bang with the more experienced counter striker Lyoto. Unfortunately he couldn't put together a dominate position once he got there. I feel like Lyoto would have got that choke had the round continued. None the less an excellent fight from both guys.
