I like how they implemented it. "yes, you idiots, go get the Fragments"
Except they don't tell you anything about it. The idea of letting players scale the difficulty to their liking is nice, but if the game (as usual) doesn't give you information, how is anyone to know to use it? This change is being made cos the majority of players just got the handful at the beginning and then went forth from there. Does it tell you anywhere that there's 50 of them? Do you know there's more of them later in DLC to find? Most games don't have difficulty sliders later in the game, but at the start. Few people would expect that you're meant to keep looking for them even late into the content. Difficulty through obscurity is just bs.
@@ArawnOfAnnwn obscurity? the game literally tells you what the fragments do. they also upgrade the exact same way as you upgraded your flasks on the base game, which you did all throughout the playthrough, so why would you asume sudenly these things are only a thing at the begining of the DLC? the whole base game was about exploring the open world to get stronger before actually tackling main dungeons and bosses, why would the DLC sudenly play differently? there's a difference between a game being obscure, and a game simply respecting their player's ability to not need everything spoonfed to them
@@ArawnOfAnnwn ah yes they don't tell ya cept ya know for that moment they do right when ya get one and how do we know how many there are? simple math, expecting people to know basic 2nd grade multiplication is not that high a bar but here you are proving that it might need to be lowered
@@ArawnOfAnnwnThe game does tell you 😂
@@ArawnOfAnnwn the first time you pick up the scadutree fragments, it tells you all about the buffs it gives.
I think before the patch I did like 1000 on my jump attack, and after getting back from work I tried it for fun and it was around 1200. It’s not broken but it’s noticeable
20% is pretty big. How many times have you died on a boss with
I'll take it
@@Bobby_Vang I’m at level 9 and let’s assume each blessing is 5% I don’t know the actual number, after patch it’s 7.5% till 10 or something then it goes back down to 5% (cause they did increase the cap a little too)
Before patch would have been 45%
After patch would be 67.5 so it kind of checks out. I’m going based of what I kind of remember cause I didn’t anticipate a patch, so before patch could be like 1096 or something.
20% is pretty broken.

the difference is so small that it doesn't really matter in the end I think. Just gives a little more flow to the early game
In the grand scheme of things it doesn't look like a particulary big change
You can choose how challenging the game can be
5% more damage is still really good. Im sure build optimisers are in ecstasy with this change.
True, level 18 scadutree fragments are now at the level of pre-patch level 20 fragments. Still want to experience pre-patch difficulty? Just don't go beyond level 18 (unless you already have, RIP).

Going from 60% to 90% attack damage bonus. Absolutely huge.
Eh no?
It go's from 65% to 85%.
@@canisinumbrawtf do you mean no? 💀 are you bad at math?
@@ganaki2935 The overall increase in damage done is 5% at max level and less than 2% damage taken. Are you bad at reading charts?
Don't forget damage reduction is not linear. Imagine you have 75% damage reduction. Getting up 80% doesn't mean you take 5% less damage, it means you take 25% less damage (1/5th went through at 75%, 1/4th went through at 80%), aka at this point those 5% damage reduction are equal to 25% practical damage reduction.
Granted, probably no one's running around with such high percentages in ER, but the principle applies nonetheless.
1.12 was the patch that brought the DLC in the first place. The new one you mean is 1.12.2
um ackshually
@@kaiserschnitzel89 the purpose of the video is to inform about the contents of a patch, so I thought it important that we get right which patch we are talking about.
So now that it has been confirmed, when you go to NG+ in the DLC and keep the fragments, how does it keep scaling with each NG+? For example: when running through base game, leveling up helps. You can overlevel and go into NG+ and its actually a bit easier most of the game but with the new scaling, level doesnt matter as much in NG+ for the dlc so enemies will get stornger more HP and hit harder but your character will be stuck at the same level? How does it work in NG+ and there foward?

And the level fragments stays when we enter the DLC on another NG+ run or we have to get them all over again?

I just NG+ yesterday and got back in the DLC and the fragments were still there.
I didn’t think it needed a buff but I guess it will be good for multiple playthroughs. On my 10th run prob not gonna track all the blessings down 🤷♂️
I think this was much needed. Still feels like the bosses have too little poise and hit too hard but this balance patch seems like a huge step in the right direction. (Havent tested myself)
We got extra percentage, then! I like that, it really helps because it feels like being at Scalevel 21, and not 20. :P
took that mixed personally
Guys, I took too many fragments but it dosen't count I don't know why, I try also take 5 together but it didn't count, please help.
Did they fix the hammer drop? Can you get it from someone else?
What armor are you wearing in this video?
I like it actually, it seems like only regular moobs got affected and not the bosses at least for me, some moobs were 2 shooting me which is kind of ridiculous
how can you shoot sword lance gravity energy?? i can't do that 0:24
Excellent video. Thank you.
How do u apply the new update?? It didn't do it automatically for me
Is 20 the max level even in New Game+? Or can I get to level 40 in New Game+? Thank you for your help.
I have obtained about 10, does it mean that if I collect 10 more I will increase the damage by 105%?

This is a good thing tbh, it makes going through the DLC less tedious for characters hoing through it the first time. I have 4 different characters who are rrady to go into it who don't have any buffs yet, this means that the replay value is better for fresh characters.
Remember how tedious Elden Ring's early game can be with how much busywork you have to do to get started, thos cuts down on the busywork needed to replay the DLC on frensh characters.
Probably will be so helpful on ng+7
They need to make something to restart the dlc without going ng+ on the main game
I already maxed it out both character and summon blessing.
What's that weapon in the beggining of the video?
A nice change, but my impatient ass beat the final boss 2 days ago. I should have waited so that it would've been less painful 😅
Beat the whole dlc stpryline before this patch so its gonna feel a whole lot different for the left over boss I have left lol.
Did they patch summoning as well??
Me: *reads patch notes* huh… hey Lettena you noticed anything different from the patch?
Lettena: *firing away with her magic M2 Browning* Haven’t noticed anything boss.
Did they not change the revered fragments?
Hard to say if it will be good or not without testing it myself but at least they seem more worthwhile even if they are still tedious to pick up.
Still annoyed that the community had to beta test it but I expect no less from Fromsoft, hopeful for continued improvements
welp they make it for the player hope there is no more complain although those bosses and mobs killed me many times with unexpected situation or as usual it still fun and the thing is there is a lots of way to play souls game or melt down the bosses i know some bosses are hard but it will still work just matter of time
Level 12 blessing being the same as 17 is a little bit much imo. I've been watching videos of other people doing the same bosses i am (I'm doing no blessing upgrades) and the bosses do much less damage and its more reasonable. I think people who said that it made no difference are actually stupid or should go get more fragments.
I really don't like modern fromsoft caving to the babyragers. First it was radahn, then balteus, C-spider and Ibis and now Shadow of the erdtree too.
i get that blessing buff work only in land of shadow
but if i go to main game and return back to dlc
will i lose all buffs?
I don't think so, since they were designed around the DLC and the DLC was designed around them as well.
No
No, you don’t lose them
Thank heavens, I was bout to cave in and cheese the final boss
Well rip fighting true Radahn didn't even get to him
Fight him at level 18 scadu fragments. It's the same as pre patch level 20. So you'll get pre patch difficlty
Oh that's why the final boss seemed easier than Messmer
When does the patch drop ?
Bro the change is very slight barley noticeable
Hold on did the change a bunch of the dlc weapons already? I’ve used commander gaius’s weapon on torrent and it does good damage but never did that gravity explosion.. also I got the new st Trina sword last night I thought it buffed both your weapons w sleep but it only did the original
You can change the ash of war on the sword lance
I know that I just thought the original ash that’s on the lance is that gravity thrust one he has equipped at the beginning of the video?
any one know when the scaling of damage stops in new+ ? I heard from some where its NG+8 but unsure if it goes passed that.
Yep after NG+7 the scaling halts
Ng+7 has the highest scaling. It stops after that
Which patch is this??
what weapon is this ?
Well gee thanks, now that I had already killed Radahn …

Compare the numbers, from Scadu level 10 onwards it’s basically the very same.
We got a badass over here
Thank god i beat the dlc before patch...
Name of the sword?
This is a positive change, having them be totally linear made collecting them borderline required which does not feel good due to how they are placed around the map. They are directly comparable to flasks but the difference is that flask upgrade materials were in abundance, there were extra golden seeds you could find rather than just needing to collect every single one. Golden Seeds and Blessed Tears were also all at specific locations or from specific enemies, rather than in seemingly random locations. This type of linear progression locked to a limited material where they are in random locations doesn’t feel good, especially on subsequent playthroughs where going and collecting all the blessed tears and golden seeds is already fairly bothersome. The scadutree system is interesting in how it applies to difficulty, but it only makes worse the ‘collectathon’ like systems from the base game which hindered extra playthroughs. Having them be non-linear and front heavy allows for people to focus less on grabbing all of these as soon as possible while instead putting the focus purely on exploration. I think this change will make for a more enjoyable experience, having to collect a bunch of these didn’t add much to the experience anyways rather it actually blocked people from outright experiencing the game as intended. It didn’t get ‘easier’ really, it just got more playable.
I’ve already beaten Radahn and every boss in the DLC, so I have no real need for this on my first playthrough but it is definitely going to boost my enjoyment on my current ones
What's so random about them? Outside of the few on the jarheads?
But on subsequent playthroughs you don't have to collect the seeds and tears if you already did it in a previous playthrough, the only things you don't retain from playthrough to playthrough are great runes, grace locations and keys
I was reading this and I completely agree !! although I didn't finish the entire dlc I did however kill Rennala ,Messmer ,Gaol,Lion boss ,the 2 ghost dragons ,and a bunch of npc invaders being on ng+6 I waisted about 9 hours gameplay fun on a sub boss without even knowing about Scadutree and how it worked to find out I needed to basically speedrun at least 20 fragments before I really noticed a change in damage that felt comfortable and fair ,this is a welcome change the could have avoided all the drama if they just made a early access weekend before launch then nobody would have complained about it I am happy with the change but I am also happy I ultimately didn't need it 😊
Ppl hate exploring got it
@@jellydamgood There not in any like identifiable locations. There is one on a dead body in the dragon area, this means people are likely to miss them if they aren't picking up every item. This isn't good design if you want the item to be picked up.
Hold up, am I getting a dmg negation NERF at max blessings, or does it compensate with the earlier levels for an overall buff? Even at +20 I was already struggling with survivability vs. Mr. You-Know-Who. 😫
No, it’s a 2.2% improvement. The number on screen is showing how much of the full damage your character is taking.
If you didn’t beat mr you onow who, you should take a boiled crab and damage negation talisman. It helps
@@akbarkhan-vc7sv I did, it just didn’t feel fun. The boss felt way too tanky and did so much damage so quickly. I ended up using scarlet Aeonia + black flame. against other bosses I’d think it’s cheap, but against that friggin boss? I have no qualms.

Damn, I soon as I finally got stuck on a boss. Time to steamroll through, once again
Haven't played the DLC yet.
So basically if you find all Fragments, you deal double the damage compared to regular Lands Between?
Lore wise : The power you have in the Lands Between doesn't apply in Shadow Realm cause it's a different realm , so you're OP in Lands Between but back to a level 1 basically in Shadow Realm
The fragments help you ignore the burden of the other realm and helps you become strong over there as well
But if you're asking do the Fragments change the gameplay in Lands Between?? The answer is no not really.... although I noticed my Mimic Tear being more tanky when I returned to Lands Between..... but Idk if it's just me or if there was an actual change.....
No the scadutree blessing system is just its own "character level" separate from the vanilla world. It essentially takes the place of using souls to level up. Fromsoft did it to keep people from going into the DLC overpowered
The original curve was so nice and smooth, though. The new scaling hurts my math-sensibilities.
so if you want to play like pre patch max level just only get to level 18 👍
On the base game of Elden ring, one of my biggest criticisms next to reused assets was being severely over-leveled to the point that it trivializes the bosses. Idc being over-leveled for the mobs but the bosses is what I had a problem with. I heard how people said how hard rahdan was and I breezed right through him. This was unintentional and I wasn’t even level 100 at the time. Now the DLC. I came into the dlc at level 150. It made sense to get 1-3 shot by large enemies like the fire guy but getting 2-3 shotted by the katana wielding rat guy is what I had an issue with. The branches helped a weeeeeeeeeee bit but not by a lot. It’s just my opinion but I don’t think someone who strikes so fast should hit like a dumpster truck…… a regular size truck is fine.😂 the dlc runs like shit though on pc.
Elden ring Is very inconsistent
I like It but I think I enjoy the smaller worlds, more balanced, not too Easy, not too difficult

Umm what patch. I been no lifing dlc and online of course and I've gotten no patch. Yes it's possible I didn't notice a update but I seriously doubt that I'm always aware of things like that. Was it a backend hot fix no update on our end? This is odd to me. First I've even heard of update besides the day 1 with main feature of the new items settings
Nevermind it was a back ended patch no actual update to download for us. Was on their end
Hey, people, they just upgraded the scadutree levels. They didn't nerf bosses to the ground, like they did to pre-patch radahn, or something.
Stop crying and saying it is "skill issue" 😂
I'm at ng+7. At level 6, i didn't feel any difference.
Radahn wasn’t nerfed. Stop that. His hitboxes got fixed. He was artificially more difficult due to that.
i don't think the issue was id do less dmg and take more dmg.
it's more so that i punish different builds more then then others.
oh you playing mage build against a boss, you can only get one spell out and there on you doing some 15 hit bombo, you try to heal they punish you.
you go str build with full heavy armor, you get your one attack in but it dose WAY more dmg and poise brake, and you tank way more dmg and have more flasks because you don't need mana flasks.
pretty much you need to go meta or the game iw much harder.
it's kills the role playing aspect that made the base game more fun.
sure this will help, but it doesn't fix the main issue with bosses for most players.
i went into str build because i found a new cool weapon and the game become way more easy.
what are you smoking? I just finished the entire DLC as a mage and it was braindead, just spam night shard and night comet. If you're a faith build spam rot/blackflame and that is it. The dlc also adds a completely broken bleed sorcery to top it off.

Ngl, i kinda like this patch because i have 3 scadutree fragments left that i can't find.
likely some missing frags could be held by the skinny shadow guys holding a shiny pot above their heads. they are really tricky. if you kill them after they throw their pot then they won’t drop the fragment and you’ll need to reload at grace and try again.

Really a shame that this is the level system they went with. It’s okay for a first playthrough, but starting at 20 every new game + run seems like it will make the dlc pretty easy early one.
