@@arpadszabo661 Estimation can absolutely be a factor. From everything I've seen, before FighterZ, ArcSys only worked on fighting games that sold decently at best and didn't have ongoing support for too long. This game is 6 years old and has sold 10 MILLION copies. They're not used to that kind of success and demand. So it's no wonder they weren't able to accommodate like people wanted. Especially when you consider that it's Dragon Ball we're talking about. The most in-demand anime gaming series known to man. They took on a HUGE undertaking when making the game. One they likely weren't prepared for.

It's blown my mind that Dragonball the Breakers has seemingly gotten more love and support from Bandai than DBFZ did. And Breakers reviewed horribly, did terribly in sales, and barely has any people playing online.

      What? No way lmao
Respectfully, DBFZ is a completely different beast and studio altogether. It has TONS of DLC characters (like more than half the roster was DLC I believe?) and balance changes over the years.
Breakers is a seasonal game that relies heavily on new updates to keep player interest. FighterZ should have WAY more staying power than Breakers EVER will, bet.

Xenoverse 2 I don't have any issues with. I played it a ton a few years ago. Xenoverse is the dragon ball equivalent of PSO2 and just like that game, it's going to take some really crazy huge change to make a sequel.
DBFZ got 3 seasons of characters so essentially 3 years of content before they pretty much decided to drop it and left us fans waiting for something new because it was so successful. Like damn we got a sequel Granblue VS game before so much as a hope of another Fighterz

I still play it to this day, but not everyday like how I use to before. Like I play it once or twice a week for an hour or two. It’s baffling how it’s been 6 years now since it came out like time has flown for real.
That being said, I’m upset and saddened how it’s not getting the support it needs from the developers. Like the rollback should have been there since it released obviously, but if anything it should have been there a few years ago already.
That and I truly don’t see a sequel coming anytime soon cus the game to me is still so much fun and I could keep playing it. If anything I could see a sequel in the next two years, but at this rate it’s not going to happen. It does suck that they had nothing concrete to showcase at the World Tour of all events since you'd think _the_ event dedicated to Dragon Ball games would have something exciting for DBFZ, and I really do wish we at least got an estimate if a specific date is too much to ask for, like the end of February or March. Personally, though, I'll be naive and trust what the guy on stage (Flow I think is his name) is saying about it being "sooner than we think". Outside of some lobby issues and graphical bugs, the rollback itself felt pretty much complete since it felt like other games with rollback from what I could tell, so they should be fairly close with the heavy work out of the way. I'm assuming they're just hung up on the console versions since it seems like they're aiming for a simultaneous release for the PS5 and Xbox; since they didn't get a beta, they're likely bug testing on the consoles themselves.
I've got no proof on that, and only hindsight will tell us if it actually was "very soon" when it finally comes out or if it took too long again. They do have a habit of releasing actual updates very close to their announcement (the rollback beta was within the week of UFA where it was announced, and the last 2 patches were effective like the immediate day after they were announced), so they're likely holding off of making any statements until it's right at our doorstep. Not the way I'd like to be given announcements, I'd rather be told when they're 30 minutes away rather than 30 seconds, but that seems to be how they do things.
    ---
I agree with Lotus on the whole DBFZ2 thing; I don't know what is up with so many people entertaining the idea when there's been nothing that even suggests it (there's an annoying amount of "DBFZ2 prediction/wishlist" threads in the community). If anything, the fact they're going through all this effort into updating this 6 year old game implies the opposite, where they're looking to maintain DBFZ as it is in the long term instead of releasing a sequel.
As for new content, yeah, it's actually kinda depressing that there also isn't even a hint that they might release new DLC for the game. On the development side of things, I recall seeing someone mention that ArcSys turned it over to Bandai Namco after their job was done, meaning Bamco has to take charge of developing and coding it themselves if they wanted to add new stuff and it isn't as easy for them as it would've been for ArcSys. I don't know how true that is, though; maybe ArcSys is still in charge of the actual development work under Bamco's direction and there was no turning over of the game's files or end-of-contract agreement at all, so feel free to disregard that claim.
On the other side of things with publishing/licensing, they might be avoiding any manga-specific content such as Moro, Granolah, and Ultra Ego, likely because they want to stay in line with the anime. Again, I have no proof on that, maybe they don't have some kind of weird corporate rule where they're not allowed to adapt anything from the manga before the anime does and I'm just throwing guesses out, so feel free to disregard this claim as well, especially since it doesn't explain why they can't do Beast Gohan or Orange Piccolo. It also doesn't explain the lack of legacy characters like Majin Vegeta nor additional costumes, stages, etc.

I have kept up with the updates to see where the game has gone since then and it only makes me more sad that they keep making the game more of a circus than it already is. Yep all good things come to an end. Some of the greatest games I played never got a sequel and some of the worst do. It is strange but then again all things in life sometimes comes and goes randomly. I remember going to the midnight release at my mall and somemany DB fans banded together. This game was so good respected fighting game players recognized it and most of them weren't even DB fans. That was special and the fact Bandai hasn't pulled the plug XV2 is baffling. Then again in the past 7 years, DB has been in a state of moving forward and not moving at all at the same time for awhile.

Think of the money they could have made off of dlc for beast gohan, the gammas, orange piccolo. To say nothing of how there are still only day-1 stages and there haven't even been any new costume color packs since what, late 2020? It's just a shame. I agree with the sentiment that ArcSys just did not plan for this game to be more than a flash in the pan and then dip out. Strive similarly did way better than they thought and they had to throw together another season. Still considering how successful both games were how hard would it be to reinvest into making more content? Its not like more stages or costumes wouldn't be a massive return on investment. Don't know if they simply lack the capacity to produce any but with the amount of cash they are swimming in now it should be feasible to do something more for this game.

I remember reading a comment under a vid regarding Sparking Zero that got me thinking about things differently. The comment more or less suggested that the reason why Xenoverse 2 still gets content whilst FighterZ is more or less stagnant atm may be due to licensing. According to said comment Bandai is obligated to release Dragon Ball content annually or they risk losing the license for it, this is why for a while there were what seemed to be a bunch of mediocre rushed Dragon Ball games because 1 year for development is nowhere near enough. Xenoverse 2 presented them with an opportunity that's sort of like a loophole in a way. By making DLC for Xenoverse 2 it would count towards their annual release thus allowing them to keep the IP and subsequently put more time and eventually resources into other games with what money XV2 brought in.
Obviously there's no way to know how true this is really but if you think about it what Dragon Ball games have released since XV2? I think that part of the reason why FighterZ isn't getting the type of support XV2 is may be due to the fact that the games themselves serve very different purposes. XV2 is for Dragon Ball fans, FighterZ is for the people who are Dragon Ball fans who wanted an "actual fighting game". The audience and money structures are therefore completely different, XV2 makes its money off of DLC whilst FighterZ is based around it being a fighting game and as such has sponsored tournaments and events. Sure FighterZ has DLC but when compared to XV2 the contents of the DLC mean different things entirely, for FighterZ DLC = a new character, that's more or less what it boils down to and that's fine cause its a fighting game. XV2 however is different in that its DLC = new character, new clothes, new accessories, new skills, new transformations, new super souls, new parallel quests, new story quests, new raids, new stages, new loading screens etc.
Despite all of that being the case for XV2 DLC its probably easier to make due to it being something that doesn't need to be balanced for competitive play, look at how the FighterZ community blew up in outrage at Lab Coat 21 being too good, its no wonder why they decided to stop trying to add more characters to FighterZ. At this point either they release a character that's good and people complain that they are too good, release a character that isn't good and people complain that the character isn't good or release a character that's somewhere in the middle and have people complain that the character is boring. Either way they can't win by adding more characters so why bother adding more and instead just change what's already in game, look at how much the game has changed since they stopped adding characters. Meanwhile in XV2 it doesn't matter if they release a strong character because at this point unless its completely broken it still won't be stronger than the core characters that XV2 is based around: CaCs, XV2 has always been about your created character so balance has always been on the back burner to a certain extent.
At the end of the day one of the biggest factors that could be why the support differs the way it does for DLC between XV2 and FighterZ is that in FighterZ the main gameplay aspect is you fighting against people. Whereas XV2 is more about you fighting with people and because of this people are more likely to spend money on DLC that gives them more things to do with people.

I know at the time it wasn't as necessary, but Guilty Gear Strive literally released with amazing rollback and really nice graphics, also some crazy trailers. If I had to rationalize and think about it I imagine rollback wants to be completed first before pursuing next steps (if there even are any). Implementing rollback in a nutshell is always described as remaking the game from scratch so making something "new" for it wouldn't make sense if they aren't finished and 100% comfortable with it. The only other thing I can think of is that ASW might just be too busy with GGST and GBVSR at the moment so it might be a bit unfair to compare support for other titles to DBFZ if its not the exact same companies working on them but the frustration is understandable. Theres probably other backend reasons but the only people who will really know are those involved and I'm sure their lips have to be sealed.
DBFZ has lived extremely long compared to various "new" fighters out there and the community commitment at least warrants transparency about "whats up" but also that can also be difficult if they have go through Toei about literally anything said about the game.

The new trailer for Daima was pretty short and lacking, and the most productive conversation we had about it in the Battle Hour was about _Krillin’s fucking shirt._ The Sparking Zero trailer gave us some cool new visuals, introduced giant characters back, even gave us a solid number for the characters, then topped it all off with absolutely no release date.

All they have to do is invest some resources in making alternative costumes, character skins (slap an ssj4 skin on ssj Goku and ssj Vegeta), couple new stages and a balance patch of some kind , and anyone who's still remotely interested in the game will gladly support it and jump back on. I mean they're already doing the hardest part, which is implementing rollback, so why do a bit more and properly revitalise the game (especially if they aren't planning to do a sequel)

my personal belief is that they (bandai) are putting more resources into these arena fighters over DBFZ because it is easier to make content for those kinds of games. They don't have to put as much effort into fleshing out (making them feel unique) or balancing characters in Arena fighters which makes it cheaper to produce. The budget mainly seems to go into the animations, not balancing. I'm no expert, but this is just my guess.

Makes sense tho. They know they could make more money with a sequel. It’s 6 years old with plenty of dlc
I’m sure to add characters you have to take balance into consideration. I’m so happy with the game and the state of the game. Xenoverse I’m sure it’s easy to add things it’s not competitive at all.

I personally agree with your statement we should be great full. I personally think they should make a sequel at this point since they waited this long for roll back. I think that why they washing their hand because they using this game as a prototype for the sequel.

Feels like there's been a spike in game developers/publishers coming out to say nothing. What for? We know they're working on rollback, why get our hopes up? There's definitely something being shifted behind the scenes, either a change in leadership or someone's calendar getting filled. Whatever it may be, I truly hope that video games, especially anime games, practice this less and less. Weekly/monthly updates are great, but please don't make a practice of this because this is how you lose support.
