    Honestly I do think you underrated how hard it is to master these characters. Baby for example for the "good" shit has like 4 different midscreen combos all based on the size of the character he is combing. I think every character was right about ease to pick up for the most part, but i feel like every character could be pulled to the right generally.

      while i agree they've buffed baby to have universal loops and mid screen combo with the ki blast but still his neutral is not as straight forward as just spamming ki blast

      @@Novet_C Yep. The one i disagree more is hit that character is the most weird out of everyone in the game even more than roshi. Roshi have common hits on its commands, hit is soo weird he has an overhead on 2L, his j.H is weird too he like levitate on the air its the only character in the game that does it and it also soft knockdown which is kind weird like no j.H does that in the entire game besides hit. His time skip abilitys are pretty tricky u need the exact timings for everything. And last but not the least, he has no range attacks. No ki blast, no beams, no air pressure like UI goku 5S he just punches the air while in his "rekka" of 236 which is unconsistence and freeze the floor through all the screen so even his neutral is extremely weird.
      Like he is not just difficult to pick up, he is also difficult in general because you got to execute neutral pressure not even near or comparale to any other character in the game.

      @JFLunch 5 месяцев назад +5

      Funny enough, this is the first Fighting Game I learned to play and I did it with Ginyu. The Rotation wasn't hard to grasp.
      To be fair in Season 1 he was a much more simpler character than he is now, he didn't have his B Assist back then, the combo routes are hella pushed, and now he has Negative Edge. Alot more to dig into but at the same time, he has the basic BNB, full screen lairet, and mostly standard buttons. So difficult to Master definitely

      @@M2JoyBoyyeah I wanted to main Zamasu since season 2. I had to dial my skill back to Vegito, then to Ui where I learned universal, then I learned Jiren which taught me all the rules of how to combo with certain charachters using special moves. Once Zamasu was looking good, it was about learning Baby B, then learning Baby. Then applying everything I learned from labbing those 2, and applied it to Gotenks, Beerus, and Labcoat. I love my rotation.

    Loved the video! Overall great takes. I think 17 is one of the hardest characters to master though. His rekkas are so fast that to TRULY not only know what you're doing, but also change decisions mid-rekka to adapt to your opponents own defensive adaptations makes him one of the hardest characters to master. Yes you can spam, or change the order of inputs, but to know what you're doing and adapt/execute amongst all the speed and chaos is what separates good 17 players from great ones.

  • @Thomas-ye7jk
    @Thomas-ye7jk 5 месяцев назад +24

    I overall agree with this take since in general the game has characters that are pretty easy but have questionable aspects that may intimidate new players. That said I have to disagree with the android 17 take for one big reason, his rekkas. His rekkas can be pretty intimidating, especially for new players who aren't used to the games system and combo routes. Not to mention that you don't really see a lot of 17 players, especially at a lower level.

    I fairly confident in saying that baby has to be moved down right closer to where beer's is. I've played baby for a couple years now and have enough experience with and against him. Beginners struggle with the ki blast neutral soo much. Then I feel zamasu being in front of janemba was right. Lastly, I think that ginyu is harder than videl because not only do you have to remember the order of the calls, but most inputs are pretty tight and in an online environment, it makes those combos much harder, not to mention that the delay call can happen on accident a lot

    As a Vegeta Blue main, I picked him up about as soon as I started learning this game, and he is definitely easy to pick up because he can play like a typical character with universal bnbs, but I do think he's a lot harder to master. I know that he has full screen ex rekka, and an unga bunga ex grab now, but his combos are a lot more difficult, especially when most of them end with quarter circle forward then quarter circle backward now (or 2s > 236s > 214L). Even before those buffs, I struggled to learn his corner combos, and I've only learned the beginner corner combos. He's definitely not crazy difficult. Somewhere near the middle is where I put him.

    • @M2JoyBoy

      I've also picked him up because I think he's goated but naw I disagree the hardest combos with him are the delay kick loops the timing is so insanely tight meanwhile you can just mash 2S 236S 214L.

    I agree that most of the cast are on the easier side compared to other FGs. That said, i would definetly would say 17 is among the hardest to master, because learning all his rekkas are definetly harder (and more necessary at a mid to high level) than learning something like Trunk's flips imo. Same thing applies to Beerus orb setups, Majin 21 steals and combos, Ginyu calls and GT Goku, Super Baby and Videl overall gameplan. Imo these mentioned characters are much harder to master than Krillin and harder to pick up than Lab Coat.

    Very interesting to get your perspective on all characters. I was completely new to beat em ups before dbfz and only have just under 100 hours into the game. One big part of the difficulty of a character for me is their range. Thats why for me Janemba feels a lot easier to pick up, since he has a very decent range. But characters like keflar and krillin are very hard to get a first touch with.

    Disclaimer: I have played every character in the game on a main team at some point since release, except for Z Broly, Frieza, Majin 21 and Vegito. My main team for the past 2 years has been Ginyu, Roshi and Baby.
    I think that Ginyu should be around Janemba to Majin Buu area. Picking him up for a new player would be hard since he not only has one special move, shoulder tackle, but also with the addition of negative edge on summons to use them properly in neutral mixups and combos. He also has I believe to be the most optimal/worthwhile combos in the game, maybe Adult Gohan could compare in that aspect, but definitely one of the harder characters.
    Yamcha should definitely be lower on the list, he not only has a completely unique j.2h but his 5m and 5h are weird compared to other characters, all the different options he has off of rekkaken, his level one rekka options and unique combo theory would be really awkward for a new player especially if they don’t understand the value of some of his frame data.
    I understand the choice of putting Hit low because his options are different to a new player, but if that’s the case, not only do I think Yamcha should be lower as I’ve stated, but Jiren too. Having your primary anti-air on 2S, having a button grab on 5h, his unique 2l, his unique j.2h, his combo theory and the defensive nature of the character would be hard to understand for a newer player.
    I also think that kid buu should be lower with how unorthodox his buttons and combos are. He has unique reverse beat that you have to make use of if you want any level of combos that are comparable to other characters and his specials can be awkward to understand why they’re good or bad for a new player.
    Baby should be further to the right in my opinion, his neutral game takes a lot of understanding to be played properly, even though they buffed his 2l and 5m they can still be a little weird to get used to, all of his ki blast options including controlling the air ones takes knowledge, and summons take not only memorization of what character was last downed, but what their assists are and which one would be helpful to your situation, not to mention that the move is also negative edge. His level 3s can be awkward to get used to and despite them changing his combo theory so that he no longer has the move character specific combos in the game, you do still need to recognize your height relative to your opponent to get a good combo game going.
    I left this one for last because it will certainly be the most controversial but I think Majin Buu should take Roshi’s place, Nappa should take Majin Buu’s, Janemba should take Nappa’s, and Roshi should take Janemba’s.
    Nappa has more weird buttons and specials than people give him credit for, his combo game is unorthodox, making use of saibamen in neutral can be awkward and most importantly, his rest and 3/4 ways are hard and take a lot of practice.
    Meanwhile Roshi is in my opinion, a goku that has an horizontal j.2h, lots of tools that all have specific uses, a saucy combo game and his awkward super dash. But at the same time, if you can get used to his super dash, it’s better than other characters, his leap is safe and can’t get hit by 2h if he hops through ki blasts, because it doesn’t graze them. And his reverse kame is + on block. His combo game can be awkward, but if you learn it, he gets not only corner off of any hit, but has some of the highest dmg confirms in the game, so once he hits his opponent, he doesn’t need to interact with them as much as a character like Buu.
    All in all, I really enjoyed the video, thank you for making this. I feel like most people have neglected this kind of content since the game is now going on 6 years old. It’s nice for people who want to get into it with the addition of rollback, it would be nice to make a video that’s more catered to more seasoned fighting game players that just never got into the game because of its notoriously bad net-code.

    So far as a new player (started the game 2 days ago), only played the story and did some combo training and I would say ss Goku and Android 18 were characters that were super easy for me to pick up, not mastered but easy to use, Android 21 was kind of easy still a bit confusing with her combos, ss Vegeta I didn’t play too much to remember the inputs but might be easy, Krillen was a bit confusing at first but I got familiar with his ki blast into afterimage combo but still don’t kn all of his combo game. The weird chs are Hit, and Friza for me. From the perspective of a new player I definitely think characters like Baby, M21, 17 and 18 should be further down and maybe to the right.
    I guess that’s just my bias because it keeps being repeated how this is considering people who are new to the game or the genre, but then when it comes to characters being difficult to pick up or master, the characters keep getting framed as “easy” because DBFZ is an “easy/casual game”. Which I’m not arguing with because it’s true, but still, if it’s for newer players, the characters should be ranked relative to each other and not to other fighting games. Which they kind of are but still, the need to cram everything in the top left is a bit of a conundrum to me because they could have easily been spread out more to account for how the various things that new players might have trouble with, and then you avoid having it look like the characters I mentioned are easier to pick up than Labcoat which personally I don’t agree with at all.
    Obviously that’s all my opinion lol, full disclosure I’m mainly an NRS player so my definitions of difficult are definitely skewed compared to like Guilty Gear players, but I also think because of it I have some insight into what a newer player is going to think about mechanics like A18 using 17 independently which personally I have always felt like that was an inherent part of picking her up.

    Personally, in my opinion, Fat Buu is the most difficult character to grasp in the game. And if he is the second hardest in the game, then no one has the top spot. He has heavy and slow combos that will make opponents It's very difficult for new players to grasp and easily get cornered by highly mobile opponents. Damn but I still love playing him in this FighterZ game.😁😁

    This is gonna sound ridiculous and I apologize in advance, I feel like ui goku could honestly move to the right when it comes to difficult to master, definitely stays high on easy to pick up though. This is moreso me being a stickler for words I guess, but when I think "master" I think of using every single tool the character has adequately, and ui goku I feel like has some stuff where like on a surface level it's easy but say you take ui goku to a high level environment, where people are gonna be 2hing or jumping out of your flips if you're too predictable and all that, I think he can stand to go to the right, and I don't even really like him that much, but that's mostly me being a stickler for words. If instead of "master" it were "learn", then yeah I agree with your placement, idk I'm just being picky, sorry

    • @animeamvs7863
      @animeamvs7863 5 месяцев назад +3

      Nah I agree. His tools are actually very difficult to use even in mid tier level. You run the risk of being super dashed, mashed on, or just plain out prioritized on HIS plus frames/flips. His kamehameha grants him no invulnerability while also being the slowest beam in the game. He has no good get out of the corner options. His counters are both very bad bc depending on what you’ve countered, YOU can end negative/getting punished. And the list goes on. UI Goku is a lot of knowing when to use his tools and how rather than the current meta of just throwing whatever out there to overwhelm your opponent. Contrary to popular belief, he actually does take a brain to use efficiently. You just normally only see him used by brain dead people

    The only one I disagree with is ssj4 Gogeta yea if you don't incorporate level ups I think that's where he belongs, but I've put in so much time into the character and mastering that character with level ups included is still super hard and finiqy including very specific level combos where you do an optimal combo into 5S 5H 22S Level up while Majin 21 it barely took me very much time to get a hang of her steals I would say the level up system is harder to incorporate than the steals since the steals it's super easy to get them and the only hard part of them is knowing which quarter circle is which steal but I I think 18's 17 and barrier usage is harder than ssj4 Gogeta's level ups so I would put ssj4 Gogeta between Majin 21 and Android 18 so only move him to the right

      Maybe you think this game is harder than it actually is? Fighting games in general are hard and while there are a few games out there easier than this one I think DBFZ is easy compared to most other fighting games. It's just an opinion though and what's easy for someone else could be difficult to another. It's all subjective.

      @@jorrellrichardson3181 My first competitive fighting game was DBFZ, then i play others like Guiltu gear and Grandblue and Lotus say the true. Dbfz is messy but also an easy figting game, its soo flexible, frame data dont punish too much with some moves, superdash makes the neutral soo much easier than in other games and especially the button combinations are EXTREMELY universal and they all combine each other too easy giving you enough time to react or playing without thinking. Like u can do just LL, MM, H that are five buttons of string, that almost all character in the game use for their pressure. In other games like Grandblue the combinations are soo restricted staggers is a law in other fighting games, for combos u cant do a 1 million hit combos from any start like in Dbfz, in dbfz litteraly every starter like a proyectile fulk screen+assist can get into a more 15 hit combo. In games like guilty gear its a miracle to get a combo over 10 hits they are very specific situations.

      @@santi3256 I get what you mean and I play all those games and more as well but the amount of hits is different from series to series along with the amount of damage. I didn't say it wasn't easier than some other fighting games. That doesn't make it easy. Getting those long combos can get very hard. I watch people like apology man come up with awesome tech and combos and they can get very complex. I think the low floor is confusing you for a low ceiling and that just isn't true. I just simply disagree with your conclusion.
