When I first bought this game and played it I thought it was ass. But I came across people like you, Dotodoya, justrelaxkid, jmcrofts, cloud, hookganggod, knowkami etc....and watched you guys play the game and thought I'd give the game a more serious part of my time. I ended up loving the game and have put tons of hours into it.

I have followed (and agree) on your commentary about how it seems like they not only don't care about this game but seem to want it dead. I was getting to the point where I was honestly telling myself the game has run its course and they clearly don't want to add anything more to the game. Which to me is like, whatever. If they wanted to just let the game die a slow death I would have accepted it.
But for them to SUDDENLY act like they give two fucks and announce rollback and then release this trash has me heated. You can let a game die a slow death. But you don't get to let it die a slow death and say "Oh hey guys, before we let this game go, we're gonna completely fuck it up by releasing a beyond fucked up rollback update that makes the game almost unplayable just to show you guys how much we don't give a fuck".
That shit is not okay to me and I really hope you're not okay with it either Lotus. This shit is so fucked. There's too many active passionate fans of this game for it to go out like this. Fuck that.
I'm not sure exactly how I'm gonna do it, but I'm gonna try my best to stir up enough attention that they HAVE to take notice. We as players who fill game developers pockets with our money are way too comfortable with just giving them our money and letting them pull this type of lame ass bullshit on us and laugh to the bank.

This was the first fighting game that drew me into fighting games. I legitimately grinded the crap out of the game, and seeing this happen to it is a damn shame.
Same dbfz got me into fighting games too and I loved it made me play other fighting games and when I heard dbfz was getting rollback I was like finally I can comeback but them doing this is so unacceptable please bandia pleas arcsys fix this
I feel the same way, this is the first game that made me actually want to get better. It’s disappointing to see that it’s fallen this much cause of how it was handled
The thing that stuck out most to me about this game when it first came out was just how *beautiful* it looked. The graphics were lavish, the animations were smooth and careful, nothing was copied and pasted, the game was the most Dragon Ball that Dragon Ball games had ever been. It was a game that felt like a love letter to the franchise.
To compare that love and passion and care of quality to this sad wet fart of a final update after literal years of NOTHING is just staggering.
Yeah, when it comes to looks, the game could be released today and i would still say that its the most accurate looking DB game up to date. Like, when you look at the screen you see the kind of quality that the anime had at its peak moments. It’s sad that they decided for some reason that this game is not worth more than 3 years of proper support.

Note to Most, These Glitches Only Appear when you are Spectating Matches. Not if you actually playing normally. For the most part these glitches will not be seen unless you are spectating your friends matches, that being said the Rollback is still there and it feels great still. It's just a shame to see how bugged the Ring Matches are in terms of the spectator bugs at least it can be played still.
This glitch kills online tournaments however. Something that alot of people were waiting on rollback to host

Even tho it sold 8 million copies they couldnt wait until it died

It honestly hurts seeing a game that brought me to your channel and genuinely brought me into the FGC and made me so excited to actually learn a new gaming style, after watching people like you,Cloud,Doto,Argin i even eventually branched out into different games and got my own hitbox to really get serious about the game and hearing rollback it got me so excited for this game again and that i can get my friends into the game more so i can share my love for it but then a stealth drop with nothing else and seeing these glitches after having to wait 3 months with nothing it honestly breaks my heart with this game
This is so sad. Dbfz is my fav fg. It literally got me into the fgc and got me to take fighting games seriously. All these other fighting games i play now i play because of dbfz. To see it fall to such a state deeply saddens me. Hopefully we can get some justice for this brilliant game

What I'm thinking too. Made it to GoD, why even play anymore with Tekken 8 being out and it being so much better than what DBFZ is now.
From my limited understanding of game development, QA definitely knew the bugs were there. The only issue is how many of those bug reports were labelled as do not fix and how much was upper management just pushing the devs to release it since they took so long.
Man i saw Daniel's thumbnail in passing while scrolling on RUclips and just thought, "well someone got creative with the thumbnail".

Something like this happening to a game like DBFZ... is so insane, I cant believe its real.
This game LITERALLY changed the FG scene, THIS was the game that put Arcsys on the map, because Xrd? or Rev2? Sure they looked gorgeous but no one was playing them, they barely got sales. It was always Capcom, NRS and Bandai at the top. But then this gem of a game dropped. And it carried a gigantic audience of people that never played or even cared for FG, from DB fans to just casual anime fans. Even many from the og fg scene joined the train. This game was so impactful and beautiful.
So how the fuck something like this was even allowed to happen? Only thing I can think of, for some reason this game presented so many unexpected issues when retro-fitting Rollback, Bandai got tired of waiting for the devs and literally said "its over. Release it now" or some bullshit like that. Because something as insulting as this seems more to be the work of some out of touch soulless higher ups than regular game developers (of which many of them are usually super passionate about making games). Lack of time? Lack of funds? I don't know man.
DBFZ and its community deserve better.

(I know Dbfz is a much different case in 3v3 chaos and rollback built from the ground up)

I think the biggest thing is just communication about it. Like from what I’ve seen rollback seems to be very difficult to implement in DBFZ compared to the other games but just giving updates about it or saying all the problems with getting it working would mean a lot.
I wasn’t super excited for rollback or anything I didn’t care much but just knowing what’s going on would have made a real difference.

this is probably because you can only match with other rollback users of your console. so PS5 can only play PS5 users and Xbox Series X can only play Xbox Series X users. and when you consider how low the Xbox playerbase is compared to other platforms and how arcsys didn't give PS5 or Xbox Series X users the ability to pick between Rollback or Delaybased netcode (an option only PC got for some reason) finding matches is basically impossible

(For the record I don't play the game, I used to but with no friends to play with as well as the general gameplay not being my thing I dropped it)
This is genuinely disappointing to see. FighterZ really opened a important door for me when it comes to fighting games. With how little they care about Xenoverse as a game in terms of online functionality, it inspired me to want to genuinely learn FighterZ, and I did. Furthermore, I was able to finally get into Street Fighter 6 and the entire Street Fighter series as a whole which is something I never thought I was able to do, but did. I was actually looking forward to the rollback announcement that was given. Damn.
But to also play devil's advocate there was a time where me and the community were clowning on roll back never happening. Now I can imagine the pressure that ark system and the devs had to put out rollback.
But I cant excuse the improper communication with us the community. It's crazy to think that if they would just fill us in more this could've all been prevented.
That pressure would've been alleviated if they were transparent. They fed us bs from more than the 2 years before it was announced like "we can't put rollback in the game." All they had to do was communicate with us and we would've understood but we got radio silence
They're just using ggpo is that's what they were gonna use for rollback they should have had it implemented since they first thought of developing a fighting game
I gotta assume that recoding this game for rollback has been hell for them to release the game in this state. I find it hard to believe that they’d think it’s okay to release like that seeing as Bamco KNOWS how important online is at this point. Something wonky HAS TO BE going on in the background imo, maybe corporate said they can’t take anymore. They really need better communication though, any explanation as to why this stuff is happening would go over way better with the community rather than just dropping it and dipping again

Sorry, i’m going to say it. Arcsys devs are stupid. They made a DBZ game that was so successful that it was among the big fighting game titles for a long time. This game had the potential to sell two or three more times as it did if they would’ve given it proper support instead of shifting focus to their other game that struggles to sell compared to DBFZ. No, they put DBFZ on life support in less than 3 years, and it still pulled such insane sale numbers. And this… after waiting 2 years for rollback, this is what we get. Actually unacceptable. There were already signs even while this game had support, like how they refused to communicate with us, but i still didn’t expect this.

Peak DBFZ was when Lotus was enjoying the game
I'm buying in to the theory that the team just straight ran out of time/funding and had to release it cuz there was no one left to work on it. Would explain why a month prior, the didn't have a solid release date to announce, then unceremoniously post about it on twitter literally 24 hours before the update actually dropped.
The thing i dont understand is why didnt they ask the community what we wanted? Like people liked the rollback beta. Why not make that endless until rollback released? If the development cost was getting too high, why not guage interest in something else like an another premium priced season of dlc to fund dev costs or even produce a dlc complete edition of the game with rollback as the selling point to make it more worthwhile to implement? There were ways to make this make money. Its really feels like they gave minimal effort to get this off the ground which is crazy because by almost any metric this had to be a very profitable title.
What makes it even worse it that last patch the EXPLICITLY STATED that they would use community feedback to improve the game and THEN PROCEED TO DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE, BECAUSE I GUARANTEE NO ONE WANTED A MAJORITY OF THE BUFFS IN THAT PATCH

Coming from someone who started playing DBFZ basically a month before the rollback Beta, this still dives me nuts. This is probably the game that made FGs REALLY click for me, and made me start enjoying parts of the genre I'd previously hated. It got me into Dragon Ball as a whole, and honest helped me through a rough time. I was so excited for Rollback and I wanted to use it as a chance to play with people other than a handful of friends.

Also Lotus to add another crazy thing how lazy this rollback update from Bandai is. So on the PS5 Version they also forgot to add legacy support for controllers so I couldn’t use my Hitbox on the game even though I could use it for every other fighting game I play Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1 etc. When I made the tweet on Twitter others couldn’t use their fight sticks either not even with the adapters they bought. So unless you have an officially licensed PS5 controller people can’t use the fighting game controller they want to use. Which could be very bad for people who do offline tourneys still. I really feel bad for DBFZ community for how lazy this rollback update is, lack of communication, I can go on & on. This is beyond sad fam and no fighting game community deserves this at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was literally a team of like 10 people in Bandai or Arcsys left for the DBFZ team, the rest probably got allocated somewhere else, but this is still sad to see 😢

In defense of dbfz I have not seen any of these visual glitches so far with the new update. In not defense of dbfz that’s probably because my game has crashed so many times I haven’t had a chance to consistently play the game to find them myself

I genuinely can't comprehend HOW and WHY this is so fucking hard for arcsys to do. Its one of their biggest games EVER and they treat it like a fucking homeless dog begging for a treat.
I never experienced this from my POV of playing this game and yeah from what I heard this was happening on PC and from spectator mode. I play on PS5 like 90% of the time and the only issue I ran into was connection lost when pressing the X button too fast to continue with the next round, but that only happened twice.
So I could simply say “well I never experienced this and it’s on PC so not my problem oh well” but no cus no one should be experiencing this at all from any console/platform. They messed up on this and they better fix it right away.
Playing a ring match was pretty nice. But when I tried to go online. I couldn't find matches, when I did either it was perfect or fine then dc. Didn't let me join lobby's with no one in them. Barley let me join lobbys with people in them. Labcoat wasn't available like the rest were but I figured that out. I haven't got any of these bugs yet tho. They are hilarious LMAO

It's different than say Sparking Zero as Spike Chunsoft isn't a fighting game maker and as such doesn't have a big project or two competing with it as ASW does.

I wonder if whoever owns dragon ball is purposely telling the devs of their games to basically mess up or screw them up. I feel like they want to push out that new dragon ball game thats released every year (sparking zero this year) because they dont want any of their games competing with each other. It's much easier to just pull the plug on a game and then have the dragon ball fans hungry for their next fix and repeat the cycle. That or someone got they aaa washed at fighters and vowed no one will have fun with it after that day.

Honestly I like the roll back lol, it functions and isn’t deprecating to the overall fighterz experience (for me at the very least). And we got roll back! It is funny to be fair and unpolished despite being delayed so much but I love how it works

The glitches are unacceptable, if they were to happen all the time. I've not met even one incident where one of those glitches happened. I got some of the messed up cenematic glitches and the spark-like shine, but those dont affect the gameplay. Am i disappointed they gave us that, yes. Is it that bad, not in my experience.

Wow, I was really thinking about getting back on this game, but after seeing this just made me stay away even more now. I used to really enjoy playing this game like that for a little bit online, then I put it down for a while after it got a bit stale. Seeing all these glitches and bugs when rollback comes out that people been begging for years, it’s a huge problem and now the game is at its atrocious state ever been. It’s really disheartening. P.S. Fighterz introduced me to Lotus, The Three Idiots, and more content creators made me watch countless videos and inspiring me to play this game.
You should know they didn't care anymore when announce the roll back 3 days before releasing it. What in the gaming community makes that kind big announcement 3 days before release date. Expect it to work out. That kind of announcement window was bound to fail.
They should just wrap this game up and focus on a Fighterz 2. This is a sad and unacceptable way for this Awesome game to go out. Siiigghhh smh

I love this it literally made me love fighting games but it feels like the company doesn’t love this game as much as fans,do it’s kinda sad this might be the end of dragon ball figherz I use to play with friends online and I meet people but now I only play for mods bandai had one job.

My theory is they never expected this game to be this good, successful and liked by the community, and people liked it so much that they always asked for more, but arcsys don't want to work on this game no more, so the decision is to make the game worse and worse, so people don't want to play this game no more, and community stops asking for content, their ultimate idea was to make the game total ass, while giving us what we wanted, that way they can say they don't have to work on it no more, they gave us the rollback, they can't continue working on it, and you have what you wanted so stop asking for more, if you don't like it don't play it.
That's what the devs wanted. And they nailed it, they killed dbfz
Its crazy how DB Breakers got a better update than both XV2 n FighterZ (Both very well successful DB games). Haven't played XV2 for a long ass time but I seen some fans of XV2 (Cabby) saying how he envy Breakers for having crossplay n other features which XV2 still don't have. It does got a next gen upgrade, which I thought it already release tbh but guess finally, should have released ages ago but better late than never. Meanwhile FighterZ, I came back to the game n downloaded the next gen upgrade. Honestly Im hella disappointed cuz for some reason, the wait for matches is even longer. Even if I want to go to another lobby, the game takes forever to load which by the way, next gen version and already looking like a bad start. I haven't experienced the character clones glitch but I have seen the character box screen flashing white light during the match. This release update for FighterZ is pitful and a slap in the face for folks who been playing FighterZ since the tournaments or betas came out. I don't know whether the team just gave up n just want to release the rollback already so that they can move on to another game or the high exces decided to rush the FighterZ team but doesn't matter cuz this update is unacceptable

Now here me out I've noticed a pattern that all the games that have time travel like xenoverse 2 and breakers are constantly getting updates yet fighterz was treated horrible maybe, POSSIBLY because bandai only cares about passion project games like sparking zero and time travel

It’s kinda sad that I can’t enjoy fighterz anymore or anyone can since I literally was stuck on ssgss rank now and I finally ranked up but now I can’t get any matches and when I get a match it’s laggy or people rage quit or I get someone who just uses one button and like I wish this game got the love xenoverse and kakarot got since they get more updates and stuff and fighterz got nothing after android 21 and I wish we could get someone who would pick up the license for anime games and actually treat it like a thing they love and not just something they want to rush and forget about but only give “love “ to games that lag or is getting old and making us ready for the next game but once they give us a game we love they just abandon it like if it wasn’t a good seller which is sad because fighterz was extremely popular till they pulled this stuff on us

magical game, slowly wittled away by the forces that created it. i was a hardcore hopium huffer for way too long- it is sadly perma flushed now. sequel one day, or maybe a similar game with a different ip, is the only hope
no sequel brother, forget that. there are no indications of that so best to not hope so you dont get disappointed

They should’ve just ended the game with the lab coat addition and started working on FighterZ 2 with better netcode/rollback and gave us a lot of the things the community has mentioned wanting to see implemented in the game. I own this game on 3 different platforms so it just kinda feels like damn they really didn’t care about anything else other than being able to say “Rollback is out”

It also could be Bandai just wants the game to go away!! As long as this game is alive, it could take away success from other DBZ products! (just my opinions and guess)

I even discovered a bug that apparently still isn't fixed. It works on PS5 at least. If you enter an arena match with Me, Myself and I, cancel it and get into a match (ranked, casual or ring match), your team will be modified to be 3 of a single character.
Surprisingly, no one raged quit with my triple character shenanigans. Every single player just rematched and played the set like normal, lol.
But yeah, DBFZ is both in the worst state it's ever been and the most playable state it's ever been. A blessing and a curse.
I play offline everyday cause I love the combo visuals. And I mean real combos I labbed this hurt
