Great auctioneer.....wonderful how he encourages the right hand bidder with the words "Sir-you have been with us all along the way...... Although it sounds a lot for a quilt.....you have to consider how many evenings and month go by until such a gorgeous quilt is completed-very often they only part with these master pieces because they simply need the money..... Personally I like the quilts made of years of clothing from the toddlers-children- until they are grown ups-these quilts tell you a life story and never fail to carry you back to times when many things were easier..... Thank you for posting.
I like his style..He interacts verry well with his bidders..Adding a touch of humor along with some friendliness as he does makes for a better auctioneer.. I also like his choice of filler words (what ever they are) lol.. A great act to follow! Thanks for posting this one. All the best George Campbell
What a great job he did.....he is sntertaining...he makes sure that people understand where they are with their bids.....and he gets out the best prize for the seller....great job...
I've read allot of the comments... There is so much about the Amish, Mennonites that we don't know. They are fascinating. They strike a romantic chord within us. I would dare say, though, that not many it us would it a year of we would live like they do. Especially the Old Order Amish.
$ 685.00 for that most beautiful piece of work? That price wouldnt even cover the fabric- let alone all the effort of weeks/months of working on it! should be in the thousands!
+Lewis Stoltzfus serious question here, are you saying that you grew up as an amish, or you grew among them? if so is it legal to use the internet n laptop?
Ara Zahra yes I grew up as an amish. No it isn't legal to use the Internet or laptop, though some do. There is a big difference in amish from different states,I grew up in PA where they are more liberal.
+Col. Angus actually that is a CHEAP quilt- think oh the hours, days weeks months it takes to make them. People insure them as they are so expensive really. I feel sorry for the way they have been taken advantage of
Once you're around it for a while, it doesn't sound so fast and intimidating. Just like learning the controls on a playstation game. Seems crazy complicated at first, but after a week you're doing it without thinking. It's just a matter of knowing what to listen for and ignoring the meaningless chatter......now doing the auctioneering, thats a whole different story than trying to understand them. Those guys have some serious skill.
I loaded this video to hear what an auction sounds like at different speeds of playback. My change from 2x speed to .25x speed had me cracking up. Give it a try
They can use electrical things for buisness with the outside world. He also might not be old order, he might be a Mennonite. There r many diff types of "amish" and the amount of electricity they use depends on which "type" they are. But also like I said, when doing buisness with the outside world they can use electrical things, even a cell phone (I am not Amish at all but I watched a documentary on this. So I may be wrong but that is what I remember learning cuz I was curious about the topic also)
i do agree that he shouldn't be allowing the photographing, but i know there is a few Amish around where i live and they own a bakery here and drive a large van for the bakery. and ive seen a few driving cars.
Wayne Miller Sorry, that's not accurate. Our local Amish engine shop has an electric cash register (battery powered), and a telephone with an answering machine, and electric lights on his buggy (again, battery powered.) Amish are not supposed to use electricity connected to the power grid, but it seems OK as long as the electric bill (account) is not in their name.
He could be Amish, just less strict. Not all Amish people are old order. Some even have electricity. But he's most likely Amish, because he's wearing their clothing.
He's what's called a Beachy Amish. They're dressed closer to traditional Amish folks, except that they can wear more colors. Beachy Amish can drive cars, have electricity in their homes, but don't have Television/Internet/Radio. Theologically are closer to Conservative Mennonites than Old Order or New Order Amish. And, holy crap, do they play a lot of softball!
LoL good point. Although he could be Mennonite and the uploader mistook it for Amish. I think Mennonites are allowed to use electronics. I prefer auctions without speakers and microphones. The auctioneer I work for uses no electronics, and you can still hear him a quarter mile away. Being able to project your voice is definitely a good tool for an auctioneer to have.
Andy Price Amish use electronics. The question is HOW they use them. For instance, our neighborhood small engine shop uses an electric cash register, but it's plugged into a battery not into the electric grid. He also has a telephone, but you have to leave a message; he doesn't answer your call directly. The Amish buggies have electric lights on them, but again, they are battery powered. That being said, it is possible that this man is Mennonite. The trimmed beard suggests to me that he's not Amish.
What is the point of a chant? Could they just sell it without all that. Just seems like pointless rambling and couldn’t understand half of what he said.
Generally auctioneers have to sell a lot of shit. Auction houses take a cut of what sells, so the faster they can sell more stuff the better. The rest is just flair and human's constant need to compete with one another. Probably a bit of mob psychology with the rhythm of the chant too.
@@sylumgand you nail it o n the head its to biuild ugency its selling selling selling $$$$$$ period buy now buy now now now the rest is details end of the day its |$$ the house pockets
Show me an actual Amish fellowship where the Bishop allows them to drive, unless you're talking very limited driving of equipment at their job. The problem I have is that he's allowing himself to be photographed.
There are a lot of different amish groups like old order amish. new order, beachie etc..... it really depends on your ordnung and group you belong. btw this fellow doesnt look that old maybe he is still in his rumspringa
As long as he's getting the bids, he's getting the job done. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I understand what you're saying, and some auctioneers are more entertaining and polished than others, but in my opinion, the definition of an auction is organized begging.
I love the clarity of this gentleman's chant
Yes the chant makes the auction for me filler words
Great auctioneer.....wonderful how he encourages the right hand bidder with the words "Sir-you have been with us all along the way......

thats incredibly interesting thanks
😀
Awsome... I love the clarity of this gentleman's chant & his humor. Great job.

All the best
George Campbell
He has a nice clear chant. I like it.
+Auctionista ; Yes he does,; have a very, very, nice chant.
What a great job he did.....he is sntertaining...he makes sure that people understand where they are with their bids.....and he gets out the best prize for the seller....great job...
He is one of the best callers. I love to watch him call. Great video.
Wow.....both....the quilt and the auctioneer are fantastic....Amish people are very skillful crafts people....
That guy is really great... clear, funny, engaging... he has it all.
I accidentally came into this video with 2X speed enabled. That's the greatest feature RUclips has ever added.
I remember the days when I would go with my dad to the auction barn to see the calves we sold.
That was some good times.....
why am i watching auctioneers....
i feel you across the years. it's amazing though
ShadeShockGaming it makes a cool rap if you take out a beat
I thought the same thing when I read your comment 😆
I went from Willie Nelson to Snoop Dogg to Borat to this. RUclips.
I can see him working at gamestop doing this he has that look
He needs to be a world champion. Awesome.
That man is serious! Lol Awesome job
Good job on the Auctioneer and skill set to keep the bidders moving.
Amish microphones are a marvel of modern technology
Sold at $685. Considering the hours of work that went into the quilt, the women earned about 20 cents an hour at most.
peggyt1243 they work fast. So more like $1.00/hr
Not like you'd ever know.
The money could've been shared equally amongst his family.
We have an auction once a year where I live, and all the money raised goes to their school.
@Randy Bingham work underpaid?
@@DontKnowHowToTypeIn2 crafts are always underpaid. It's earning some pocket money.
I love it going to Lancaster Saturday I love all of this

WOW!!!! WHAT A GIFT!!!! BUT... I'M EXHAUSTED, LOLLOLLOLIT!!!!💝
That’s a nice quilt
I love love the amish an their culture. .awesome people
He's really good!
Watching this is somehow therapeutic.
$ 685.00 for that most beautiful piece of work? That price wouldnt even cover the fabric- let alone all the effort of weeks/months of working on it! should be in the thousands!
For all those who are wondering, that man is Amish, I know,I grew up Amish. As for the microphone that's legal if it's at a sale.
+Lewis Stoltzfus serious question here, are you saying that you grew up as an amish, or you grew among them? if so is it legal to use the internet n laptop?
Ara Zahra yes I grew up as an amish. No it isn't legal to use the Internet or laptop, though some do. There is a big difference in amish from different states,I grew up in PA where they are more liberal.
ohh kinda like a different section in amish, thanks for the reply
Lewis Stoltzfus Ya but is it legal what he’s doing to the microphone? Is the microphone 18?
Well it says the he's Amish in the title. Lol
That 535 was sneaky!
Ma’am if he bids 675 ...would you bid 685? You’ll slap him ?! 😂 savage af
Real hand made quilts have hundreds of hours in them and don’t ever bring what they should. Hourly rate is probably $1.50 per hour
Jeeze that is one pricey quilt ! dang
+Col. Angus actually that is a CHEAP quilt- think oh the hours, days weeks months it takes to make them. People insure them as they are so expensive really. I feel sorry for the way they have been taken advantage of
Now I want to be an Amish auctioneer
This is a reason I wouldn't be able to go to an auction... this fucking chanting melts my brain cells.
Once you're around it for a while, it doesn't sound so fast and intimidating. Just like learning the controls on a playstation game. They Must be pretty tender cells , maybe us should get yr head examined
Yup ,, you just removed all doubt ,
Was there a horse running a track to power the generator to power the mic and speakers
Shut up jackass
That was a wicked nice call.
He should have a band to back him up.
I found myself straight zoned to this drone. This is heavy psychedelic drone.
Well worth the money it is hand made
I actually like this
The Blaine Lotz of quilts 😂
Man when he gets to $645 he really hits it
Why is an Amish auctioneer using a microphone?
Thought the same thing lol 😂
Great from Ontario Canada
Quick question. How is an Amish auctioneer using an ELECTRIC amplifier?
Pennsylvania State Bid Calling Champion and 2nd in all time Champion of Champions contest.
I loaded this video to hear what an auction sounds like at different speeds of playback. My change from 2x speed to .25x speed had me cracking up.
Give it a try
James Brown brought me here. SOLD!
Amazing vocal sequencing .. Yet how is he using a gadget which runs on electricity? Did the Amish give up their devout anti-electricity stance ?
They can use electrical things for buisness with the outside world. He also might not be old order, he might be a Mennonite. There r many diff types of "amish" and the amount of electricity they use depends on which "type" they are. I dont why youre trying to find a “gotcha!” Moment, people can do whatever they so please lol
they are allowed to use mics?
Very cool! Another gender barrier effectively broken in my perception. I especially liked the little squeak here and there. Very musical.
WOW!!! 😮
Nice Quilt,,,
Pray for the Amish community. God's glory can stand up in their mids.
Well done bro ❤
You're right. It's time for bed
Forgot to ask. What city and state did this auction take place?
Hes using electricity! Maybe its DC so its ok lol
I'd charge $685 just to do that chant. The quilt would be extra.
I thought it was dead at 300! Tjats why salesmen are fast talkers. Guy just walked away saying, "ehat happened"
i do agree that he shouldn't be allowing the photographing, but i know there is a few Amish around where i live and they own a bakery here and drive a large van for the bakery. and ive seen a few driving cars.
wow.....you rock!
Wow! amazing.....
they are raising funds for HAITI... HE WAS A NEIGHBOR OF MINE .. but i moved away 2 yrs ago
Nice quilt
Great auctionneet
Amazing

He is married....awe damn ...lol ....wondering how I can tell? He's growing a beard, they only grow a beard once wedded.
wait, wait, I bid 700
I am sure this fellow is amish his straw hat is real
Wayne Miller Sorry, that's not accurate. Amish are not supposed to use electricity connected to the power grid, but it seems OK as long as the electric bill (account) is not in their name.
His beard is nicely shaven do Amish shave?
I think he may be Mennonite, not Amish.
I would say he is Mennonite, Amish don't trim their beards, showy you know.
He could be Amish, just less strict. Not all Amish people are old order. Some even have electricity. But he's most likely Amish, because he's wearing their clothing.
He's amish. Source, my last name.
A lot of Amish trim their beards
a real amish would not be using an electric mic
He's what's called a Beachy Amish. They're dressed closer to traditional Amish folks, except that they can wear more colors. Beachy Amish can drive cars, have electricity in their homes, but don't have Television/Internet/Radio. Theologically are closer to Conservative Mennonites than Old Order or New Order Amish. Yes
theres many diffrent groups of Amish, some can some cant. some may even drive.
Set this to .75 and then 2 for playbqck speed for lulz. Was not dissappointed
How can he be Amish when he uses a microphone?

while working , not a standing photo
Can Amishes use powered microphones?! And his spectacles are obtained from the modern optometrist, no doubt. Isn't it against their beliefs?
Pardon )))
People that dont know theyre in hell
He's using electricity, thought that is not allowed among Amish....
635.00$
Authentic american civilians repetition skills History. No need europ for rewritten other nations history
Has buttons, a logo, and his beard is trimmed. Not Amish.
It means he isn't married :)
That would be no beard. By dad's best friend is Amish

Most people say Amish because they don't realize Mennonite is a thing. It's just easier.
100% Amish, he lives local, one heck of an auctioneer
is dis man a mish
WTF😮
He looks too clean to be Amish. Not that they’re dirty people... his lines are too sharp. I suspect Mennonite.
hes a Mennonite, not Amish, that's why he can use electricity
Being a auctioneer for 40 years.this is awful.. He's begging...

good chant....fake amish....clothes are too clean, beard trimmed, and apparently he needs $$ to purches modern day stuff....
