- ‘It may not look pretty on the surface, but deep down it’s beautiful.’ Those aren’t my words-those are Omega’s. The people there tasked with building the brand’s most advanced diver yet knew their watch was no looker, but that didn’t matter. It wasn’t for strutting about with; it was for using. It was the Plongeur Professionnel, the PloProf-the Professional Diver.

This is actually one of my fav Omega designs. It's just like a watch from an 80's sci fi movie, I absolutely love it
I'm pretty sure it was featured in some sci fi movie
I agree.. is such a beautiful watch... this guy is an idiot.
Ugly??? Trust me you ain't seen nothing yet till you see some of the watches Invicta makes.
😂👍 Invicta invented ugly! So bad they're good!!!
You take the words out my mouth.
You cannot say : ugly watch til you have seen an invicta.
Smack Fu Master Link series especially. (vomit emoji)
God bless you son- IF I see someone with an invicta I want to laugh in their face. Junk watches
This is one of my favorite designs from Omega ever. It’s so unique and purposely built.
100% Dive Watch, 0% Pretend
I feel fooled. Came to see an ugly Watch but all i got was a Beauty.
That Omega Seamaster is a beauty.
It's on my RADAR :) I have a Speedy, but I just fancy one. Not sure on which model yet.
Watchfinder - I would be REALLY interested in you doing a review of the Bostock watches - Purely as a fun thing. I know they aren't in the league that you normally review, but from a horological perspective I think they have a place...:)
The new one is pretty garish compared to this one.
Beautiful ploprof and I am A rolex guy, and i will put this Omega ploprof up against any watch in the world for precision and quality. Great watch hands down.
Lol the ploprof is more of a diver's gadget than a watch. Even the Rolex Deepsea and Sea Dweller are more like run of the mill watches.
@@emmanuelshipstone it is one helluva serious watch, but I must say I'm really starting to like my Omega 600 P O chrono
I felt sad for Omega by the end of the video
This is unique! Not only the watch but also your channel. You pack SO much interesting information in every of your video and combine it with beautiful close-up shots and a perfectly fitting narrator - nailed it! Keep up the great work guys!
I'm mesmerized by your hands and fingers movements during your speech.
This and the Seiko Tuna are both purpose built and their design is a pure "form follows function" type, which makes them beautiful in their ugliness!! If that makes sense...
Watch Geek I agree and it makes perfect sense.
ah cmon the Seiko Tuna is adorable! its so round and chubby
Yes. I agree. Is it not the same with TAG Monaco?
This channel is so great with its information and stories. Then, you guys blow us away with great video quality. I want to know more about the Mido Multifort and the rigorous testing it faced to become the flagship product of Mido. Keep up the exquisite work!
Enjoyed this more than your usual videos. Snappier delivery. Less indulgent slow balling, self stroking and needless dramatic pauses. Well done! 😁
Your videos are always so well done! Thank you for taking the time to do your research and share it with us!
Your videos are truly amazing. Each one is like a little documentary squished into a few minutes
Interesting...information I hadn’t known previously. Thanks for the lesson.
Wut??? The Ploprof is awesome!!!
That’s a really cool looking watch. I have seen one of these before and thought they were odd at first. I learned more about it and now I think they’re really special.
I actually quite like that design.
Sorry, this ones not even close. It’s a haute horology compared to the humongous gold and black Invicta I saw yesterday at Costco! It was as big as two hockey pucks stuck together and had great big black nodules sticking out from every angle like it was invaded by an alien life form and was about to explode.😝
Another well documented and clever video! Thanks a lot.
Love this one! Please update with the new Ploprof!
Love the analogies in all your videos.
This is a stellar video. Thank you for making it.
Your voice is so pleasurable and soothing. I was actually dozing while watching. Usual great quality and informative vid though.
Thanks for the history lesson, very informative.
It's like the Seiko from Alien
Tarr Márton That was the Seiko Ripley. I have the Seiko Bishop, just a different colour.
whatever it is ripley or bishop still beautiful. movement as well, groundbreaking and robust
whose?
seiko bishop reminds me of omg cat meme
it's a giugaro design, you can easily find it on chrono
I love these, and the reissues. They wear surprisingly well considering the size and odd shape.
Great Review as usual and one of the best on youtube .
how do you get you're hands on all these amazing watches? do you own all of them?
Can you also discuss about Tissot? Thank you! Amazing video as always.
When it's cold outside and your body temperature starts to drop, the hypothalamus sends a message to your body that it needs to warm up. One way it does that is through your muscles, which generate heat by shivering. Teeth chattering is just a form of shivering.
Nice video on horological development timepieces. Would really appreciate if u can do a review on JLC master calendar
I love watches and I love your channel. You've got yourself a new subscriber.
You really should have mentioned the re-issue of this watch! It's gorgeous!
sorry to disturb you dear sir, but will you kind enough to make a review about automatic chronograph swatch? thank you
Great Vid!!
I used to think it was ugly but I saw one live and it's a beauty and rugged, feels like quality.
Can you do a video on the Seamaster 1000?
You should do a special on Longine ´s original Lindberg watch.
Your videos are a pure state of art which have been thourougly reasearched and eye candy!
👍🤩
Many thanks!
John
Awesome watch Beauty and the beast of dive watches. This Bad Ass watch is a legend.
Can guys you make an episode on the Seiko 6139s 600x series ?
The conclusion has ever since summed up the history of the two brand of unequal rivalry.
Love this watch one of my favorite watches, always get compliments when I wear it. Unique design.
Exceptional watch!
I love how this is a follow up of the sea dweller video. Really gives context to the whole story
I would love to see Watchfinder review something like the Kalmar 2 8000 metres from the German microbrand H20. Incredible engineering that puts big brands to shame and at a tiny fraction of the price due to the unknown brand.
Favourite watch ever with the Seiko Pro Driver "Tuna". Shame the modern reinterpretations Ploprof have cristal backs, just does not seem so designed for a purpose...
I have this watch and I still use it to dive. Great original design watch
It's a cool piece of technology! How deep do you dive with it?
Aeneas Izichi
It is serviced by Omega a year ago. So it is waterproof. I use a time table and measure the time and dept.
Only 50m max
Beautiful beast
I absolutely adore your channel. It gets tiring arguing with trolls, its refreshing to be able to constructively contribute.
I know you are more luxury oriented but I would love to hear you tell the story of the Seiko Tuna...Great work.
You deserve at least a million subscribers ❤️
It really is a watch made for diving. It’s a hardcore utility. But I also love it because of that. I’m not really a diver, but when I dive I know that I have the best possible watch for the job.
you could do a video comparing the newest speedster racing with the speedy professional. might be fun just to see how far the speedmaster has come...
Love it - it’s like the history channel for watches.
Love the PLOPROF
I will surely put my hands on one of those if I have a struck of luck (monetarily) to me is an icon and other than formal occasions I would wear the thing proudly on a day to day basis.
I agree
Please review the bristling navitimer
'knew their watch was no looker' it still looks incredibly bold ! this watch is Utter and sheer functionality .
please make a clip with :Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Platinum
Limited edition 50 pieces
Ref #26470PT.OO.1000PT.01.
and if possible put it on the scales and weigh it.Thank you
I vote for that invicta pro diver with the chain
What about those zenith defy extreme
The Ploprof is a beauty. So unique.
I absolutely love it’s design. There is nothing else like it
love this watch! with a deep passion!! just cant afford it!
Isn’t time to do a special on the GP Sea Hawk series?
I have the modern stainless steel white version and I love it.
At first glance it might not be a looker, but this watch redeems itself with it's full throttle purpose - very idealistic and romantic actually.
Not ugly, just utilitarian.
Uglytarian?
theo Sls I don't think it is. But hey, those words come from a person that think the M1 Abrams is a beautiful thing, so....
Sad story but that watch is an absolute beauty
you make great videos.
Beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder: I LOVE THIS WATCH and think it to be exceptionally beautiful. Beauty is not conformity and ticking boxes but fulfilling purpose on one's own terms. This watch does that very well.
PLOPLOF and Artic Omegas are the best
Which arctic ones? Only know of the speedy, and yes it’s stunning.
Reminds me of the Seiko giugiaro
I've just inherited an old Seamaster 600 that needs some TLC. Is it worth getting it restored?
YES! At any cost, you should most definitely get it restored. But you must make certain that you take it to a watchmaker that is knowledgeable about Omega and can get the parts from that era if you want to maintain its originality. I definitely would if I was blessed with that watch like you are
@@UnderseaAdventures Thanks for that info. I'll make a start on finding a good watchmaker. Cheers.
Am I the only one seeing that weird omega logo at 1:58? Right in between the min and sec hands.
This watch is quite attractive. I thought we were going on a field trip to the cheap watch department at WalMart.
Breaking news from the year 2023: Omega's New Summer Blue Collection Ploprof, while still not being everyone's cup of tea, is actually pretty sweet with the updated dial, hands, and bracelet/strap. Never thought in a million years that I would want to own one of these living incarnations of "The Homer" but here we are!
Bond?
That looks good.
You've obviously not seen the "Archie Momento River Rat"
Mark Phister shiiiiiiiiiiiteeeeerrrrrrrr
hoonkkkeerrrsss phuckeroonies
Or Big boi's Tag
Or the Pontiff's Panerai.
The ultimate beach day watch!
Timing is everything in the watch world
Abdul Rahman Abdel Razek Timing indeed
Ha, I see what you did there...
I like that design and think it is beautiful in a geeky or tooly way. I think Hublot, Invicta watches are the ugliest.
Looks like a mini spaceship from star trek.
Reminds me of Seiko Alien watch
It's an awesome watch.
I don't get why they made it so... particular. I mean, I had a sector diving team that was way more sober and it was completely waterproof till 1000m below sea level.
PloProf, Ooh er missus, sounds a bit rude to me!
Compared to a Casio G shit, this Omega is gorgeous!
Love it
this is one of he best looking watches ever made. its like calling an A-10 an ugly aircraft.
This looks much nicer than anything from invicta.
I do like it pretty much indeed
It looks like the Millennium Falcon
Sad that those service hands don't get relumed to match the markers. Omega can do better.
Good story to know.
