I won’t lie when I saw those two Jedi knights had their lightsabers disabled. My mind went to Cortosis. Because I remember reading the Darth Vader comics where the Jedi use a cortosis blade to try to disarm Vader. But I will say it’s cool to see that metal return to canon and see it being use to actually disable a Jedi’s lightsaber so easily.

@@GenerationTech Movie Battles 2 decided to implement B2 battle droids that can have cortosis plating. It's hilariously effective vs jedi, especially with how a single slap from a B2 superbattle droid can knock anyone down except for a wookiee. So imagine this, you're storming down theed palace hallway, trying to dislodge enemy snipers to let your team advance. You notice an SBD firing down your line like the machinegun on 2 legs it is. You go in to kill it and... your lightsaber dies. You get bitchslapped and shot to pieces. Well, either that or a nearby stormie runs over and beats you up as you are flipping back onto your feet (it takes ~1 seconds - enough to punch a jedi to death with enough stormies). Also yes, you got jedi storming theed palace that's defended by SBDs and stormtroopers. It's an awesome game.
First off for q quick second i thought he was using the kyber disengagement trick that ahsoka knows but a mlre quick and aggressive use Then i realised it was when he used the armour to turn them off
Qimir has a background in smuggling and trading also is said to be a collector of unique ancient artifacts! He probably built that helmet from ancient pieces collected over time and welded it together like Kylo tens helmet
My current theory is that he is using an old antique helmet and one gauntlet. Which is why it fell apart so easily after being smacked and why it looks like an incomplete set.

Agrred; The biggest mistake was one of the Jedi not saying, "His armor is Cortosis" or one of them asking about how he's able to do this and him mocking them about how cortosis properties and how its good for killing Jedi.
Some people hate God of War 4 & 5 because Kratos is no longer an angry young killing machine seeking power or vengeance. They cannot digest character development or a good story. Hate to see such people's non-constructive and dumb hate getting such a loud voice.
Cortosis fiber/plate has been around for decades in lore. The Imperial remnant assassins used it so often that Luke Skywalker had to specifically tune his lightsaber to be able to cut it.
I've watched a lot of "top ten materials that can block lightsabers" videos over the years, so I immediately recognized the material depicted here, even if I didn't remember what it was called off the top of my head. I also remember reading old Legends novels back in the day that took place in the era the sequel trilogy does now (The Legacy of the Force series is still in my opinion what the sequel trilogy should have been), and in one scene when some young Jedi are engaged by Mandalorian mercenaries, they're all stunned by the fact that their lightsabers just bounce right off their beskaar. The narration even saying "The revelation of 'My lightsaber doesn't work' is a very naked feeling for any Jedi." It really emphasized just how over-reliant the Jedi had become on their lightsabers to do basically everything. They weren't just weapons, they were the ultimate handyman tool that could cut through anything. So when you've carried one of those most of your life and go into battle with it only for it to be immediately rendered useless...yeah it's no wonder those Jedi redshirts were totally dumbfounded and easily dispatched by Darth Dudebro Biceps. Though I am glad that in the new canon Cortosis is EXTREMELY rare, expensive and hard to refine and work with because let's be honest, it's OP as heck. Only the most skilled and masterful of Jedi killers should be able to use it effectively, otherwise everyone would be using it.

This is probably the smartest clickbait title I've ever seen. It attracts the people who hatewatch and complain about everything to click and find out why they're wrong.
It’s funny that the people who are the most critical about Disney taking the legends stuff and putting it out of the canon, and still don’t know that this metal exists in the canon from the legends expanded universe. This is not a new concept or a new and executives did not make it to hurt your feelings.
Cortosis. The material used in the wristguard and mask is called Cortosis. It's been part of the Lore for decades going back to the EU and (now) Legends. It shorts out lightsabers upon contact temporarily.
It depends on the concentration actually. Cortosis was already rare, difficult to work with and very expensive. A pure cortosis blade like the one Vader encountered could short out a lightsaber, but a mere weave which was more common (but still rare) would protect a sword or armor from getting wrecked by a lightsaber blade, similar to phrik or besker. But it wouldn’t short it out. Now I doubt the Disney showrunners know that, hell they might not even call it cortosis and just make up some other word or metal. But for now we can give them the benefit of the doubt and just call it “pure cortosis” in the Acolyte show until someone from Disney opens up their mouth and displays their ignorance. That still doesn’t detract from all the other legit criticisms and downfalls this show has: bad writing, bad acting overall, terrible pacing, lore breaking retcons with Ki-Adi Mundi and Anakin being the only “Force birth” etc.
@christianscrogins663 I'll ask this here since it seems safer than other places... how is Ki-Adi Mundi's age a Canon fact? I don't think it's ever established in any movie or TV series to date. If we are talking about Legends material...I don't understand the controversy. They've already discarded Legends as Canon...unless they want to use it here and there.
I have ignored hate bait videos for a long time so the algorithm has mostly stopped putting them in my feed. But Acolyte videos somehow got around that, still ignored them though.
As long as it isn't whole buildings and doors made out of it. I was playing in a Star Wars game and we ran across a blast door made of the stuff that was intended to seal out Force users from the secret information within, so we tried to cut around the door, only to find out that the whole outside of the bunker was made out of it. A bit over the top, to say the least, considering that this would have been tons of the stuff, but it was made during a time when it was possible to mine that amount of it with droid mining we found out later. The solution for entry was doing a co-operative "open sardine can" check using the Force to just bend a corner of the door open so a small person could go inside and open it some more. A lightsaber might be a universal key for almost anything, but so is telekinesis, if you pull hard enough.
Finally a positive comment about the Acolyte! I've been watching it and I'm like, why are people hating on this?! It's epic, darker than your typical star wars (which is cool), and has so many of the elements that make it a solid star wars story, and more canon than 7,8,9. Also, high republic era, and MASS LIGHTSABER BATTLES! THIS is what I've been wanting out of Star Wars lately.
As long as you don't think about anything happening at all, you can enjoy the show. But the instant you start actually focusing on whats happening you notice stuff. For instance in this episode, Osha tells Yord to turn off his saber as the flying animals/insects are attracted by the light. Did they attack her and Yord after she directly shone into them with her droid flashlight or did any Jedi or "Sith" get attacked for their ignited sabers? Or even the fight with Qimir as a whole. He would've unalived every Jedi after their first strike against his Cortosis helmet/gauntlet. Or how at the start they didn't overwhelm him with their numbers and only a few Jedi at a time even directly engaged him. It is all spectacle with minimal to no substance objectively speaking. It was correctly stated that the show isn't actually at ~13% Quality, but it doesn't get past 50% (objectively). And this is the crux of the situation, most Disney Star Wars projects are straight up mediocre when they all should be at least a 6/10.
@@toastyrules8221 This is the case in every LS battle , if you look close enough, there will be openings for a combatant to strike and win a deadly hit on the opponent. Right there with you, Tech. Some of the hate on the Acolyte is just ridiculous. The show is fine. It's not perfect. It has some flaws, which should be addressed, but overall, it's fine. A true sith would never reveal themselves like that, not without killing all witnesses. I dont like this show ive tried to give it a chance ive watched every episode and the cortosis helmet was the most logical/cannon thing in the whole show so far
Back in the pre-Disney days they went back and forth a lot on how effective Cortosis was against a lightsabre... or in general. I may be wrong, but the first time it came up was the Hand of Thrawn duology (or I, Jedi - I forget which way round those were written) and Mara Jade explains to Luke that while the ore shuts down a lightsabre blade on contact if the lightsabre uses a certain type of circuit anywhere in its construction (implying that almost every lightsabre in history needed that circuit in there somewhere) it is essentially useless against anything else. The original Clone Wars multimedia project depicted refined cortosis as an insanely dense superconductor - so good at resisting energy weapons that it was used to make starship armour way back before deflector shields were a thing. After a while it seemed to settle down to "in ore form it'll shut your lightsabre off, as an alloy it'll just block it" especially in KotOR when almost every melee weapon and suit of armour used a cortosis weave so lightsabres weren't insta-kill-bats, and what you were saying about mining it being like working with asbestos, only taken up to thirteen, if memory serves, that was introduced in the Darth Bane novels... or at least that's the earliest reference I have for how dangerous it was to mine it.
I’m beginning to think Disney actually knows more about Star wars than its fans. Star Wars fans really don’t know what they are talking about most of the time and are just hopping on the hate train along with everyone else. So damn annoying

cortosis shorting out the lightsabers is fine by me. tech vs tech. But can you explain the Magneto anti-mind trick/probe part of the helmet? that's the part that made me roll my eyes. Any object interfering with the force just does not make sense at all to me. and he was powerful enough to disguise his thoughts and emotions without the helmet in the potions shop, then what is even the point? He 1v8s jedi but he fears the jedi mind trick that only works on weak people anyway? I'm just so confused by it's existence entirely here.
I interpreted that as him either making fun of or just straight out lying to the Jedi about the helmet. They'd already seen and been confused watching it short out their lightsabers so they knew they were dealing with something they didn't know about. Qimir could probably have told them it allows him to teleport to Coruscant and they would have hesitated trying to figure out if that's true or not, giving him another advantage in their fight.

The issue I feel with a lot of YT reviewers is that they can be SW fans and not have read all the books and comics or played the games. A lot of people just watched the movies and became fans, this will be their first introduction to cortosis so they might think its Lucasfilm f**king around again. But it is canon for those of us who grew up on the Legend books and yet fell in love with SW through the original three movies.
i mean honestly i think a lot of them aren't star wars fans, cortosis is pretty well known. Ive seen some star wars channels bring up good points about why the show's not great and i typically trust them more.

@@GenerationTech I suppose it all depends what makes a good channel to you and what doesn't. Some are labelled as hatemongers despite having solid criticisms, some of course are just filled with plain hate. I watch a number of channels on both sides of the divide and it baffles me that most of the vitriol is spewed by the defenders of Lucasfilm as they attack channels by name. Oddly, the ones that criticise Lucasfilm never do that, so who is worse? And I have seen channels that come down hard on such shows as The Acolyte actually say nice things if they see them, for example the fight scenes in the most recent episode have been, if not praised, then at least complimented by people such as Nerdrotic and Critical Drinker, both of whom seem to be getting most of the flack from Lucasfilm defenders. Ok, they might criticise how the trees blocked a lot of the action from view, how dark it was making it harder to see the fight, but they still admit it was the best The Acolyte has offered so far. They do this while saying how weak the writing is, how some of the characters are badly developed, how there are plot holes that make no sense, but these are legitimate criticisms, but such things seem overlooked by the 'Defenders' who simply go on the offensive with a personal attack on the reviewers themselves.
With some of the comments, I definitely feel this. People complain about shit that was introduced in Jedi Knight: Dark forces-Outcast-Academy. Or was introduced in KOTOR 1/KOTOR 2. And these are like, super popular games.
Seeing Qimir head but a lightsaber blade to disable it was epic, this episode was fun to watch and in my humble opinion this series does not deserve the hate it is getting.
So the only reason this fight happened in the first place is because in the previous episode, mae randomly had a change of heart and wanted to turn herself into the jedi. So that for some reason caused smiley to fight the jedi..... even though he could have just killed mae right then and there. Only for mae to then randomly hate the jedi again in episode 5. The thing that a lot of people are forgetting is that Disney specifically said it's doing away with Canon. So if we keep going back and saying they're breaking lore you fail to understand that they're literally creating a whole new lore take a look at the book timelines. However, this doesn't mean that they aren't going to use some of the lore, which is something George Lucas himself didn't even want to do. They deleted everything before New Hope. But they are staying true to the fact that the sith are great planners and deception is their number one goal. I guarantee that Mae is being used to infiltrate the Jedi order. The whole betrayal was all staged. How else do you kill a dream but from within? I also hope they bring in the plant that is able to prevent force abilities. It was used to keep the forced sickness which caused a lot of Jedis to go mad and incapacitated.
Love how it seems like the best metal one can use, but then we get an actual good reason as to why it isn’t seen all over the place. It also allows for some very cool moments when it does show up too.
Cortosis is also one of the attachments you can get for your armor and certain melee weapons in the FFG/Edge RPG (Edge of the empire, et all). Just another thing that normies complain about is some "new" canon breaking thing that anyone even slightly into the extra stuff knows about. And even if it was brand new... who cares!? New means new content. New lore means new stuff to incorporate. Everything was new to the canon once. A TON of new stuff was introduced into the lore with Empire Strikes Back, including a bunch of new force powers, and no one complained (well, some people did, but most didn't), and it's considered the best of the movies. So yeah, new, old canon reintroduced, who cares if it's fun. And this was a fun episode.
I had no idea what cortosis(idk if i spelt that right) was until this show, and honestly its really cool imo, I love how it was portrayed in The Acolyte

I don’t understand why they placed the show on the timeline so close to phantom menace. Like just put it “ a Millenium” before the quote for sock head man and then have all sorts of sith appear and this can be the “last time we saw a sith” and fit into the pre established cannon. Like literally change nothing but the date and I guess take sock head out of the show, but seems like an easy way to have free reign and creative freedom to tell whatever story you want.
When is glanced at the title of this episode, my heart dropped and thought, “so this is how democracy dies…”. Very relieved you remain an even-hearted and thoughtful critic of Star Wars. And loved the Asian mom reference; I lived that one.
Can we talk about how Mae at the end of last episode was ready to surrender to the Jedi and in this one she does a 180 and goes back to hating the jedi and wanting revenge by taking Osha s place? Let's be honest, that's just bad writing.
Things changed so she did don't think it weird Her master was gonna kill her she just wanted to get away at that point being taken captive by the Jedi would interfere with her escape.
I mean she been shown to be super unstable and extremely emotional to the point of being irrational. But maybe we just have seen enough of her insanity to make that as clear.
She wanted to turn herself in to the Wookie because she had dirt on him and would have gave her a lighter sentence the other jedi just want to lock her up
I think it was the interaction she had with Osha that changed her mind. But we also don’t know what Mae’s plan is in impersonating Ohsa, Mae might be getting a feel for what the Jedi are like.
Your knowledge of the lore and balanced reviews are the reason I (and seems like many, many others) keep coming back to hear what you have to say, even with click bait lol
I've heard of this material watching YT channels, but until this episode I just thought it was a variation of Beskar, a light saber resistant armor. Thank you for explaining the difference in detail what this episode of the Acolyte did in showing us.

Does anyone remember the Obi-Wan game on the OG Xbox? Where a faction was using Crotosis on their weapons, they had vat’s of it. It was a nice way to explain why enemies could block your lightsaber strikes.
I do believe the metal Qimir's helmet and vambrace is made of is Cortosis, a metal that has a high energy absorption rate and is able to withstand the blow of and even short out lightsabers.
This metal is so rad, I've never gone into any of the legends or expanded lore so this was all new to me but I loved how it's used in those clips you showed.
I was super excited to see Cortosis be canonized. It reminds me of the bit in Legacy when Roan Fel uses his Imperial Knight gauntlet to turn off his opponent's saber. The Imperial Knights were so cool.
A bumper sticker I saw on a beatup truck in a tiny mining tow... """ If it's not grown or drilled it's MINED """ Of course, the order and capitalization on that is arbitrary. I'm a "grown" sort of fellow myself, but respect the miners ;)

Now people are just looking for mistakes, inconsistencies, things they find illogical, or don't make sense within the lore they know. So yeah people who didn't know what Cortosis was probably are going to criticize its introduction at this point. Meanwhile, those of you trying to defend this stuff are flip flopping hard. Now you're saying Cortosis armor that shorts out lightsabers isn't a retcon because it was in Legends.
if you read the comics, which is a part of that lore you mention is that the enemies of the jedi of old uses cortosis blade which can be see used on darth vader in one of the comics. if the steel can be made to resemble a sword or dagger and why not helmet and armor. The first thing i saw this i knew it is cortosis made.

Everyone seems so bent out of shape by his helmet shorting out sabers but as long as it had some cortosis that's exactly what would have happened letting them restart their weapons. So many said it didn't make sense but it's canon and one of the few things I thought made sense in the show.
I don't agree with many of your stances regarding lore and the quality of shows, but I do enjoy that you are at least arguing your points well and I can recognize when you are correct in things. *The* *Acolyte’s* *Ep.* *5* *=* *The* *Phantom* *Menace* Only the lightsaber duels saved this episode just like the Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan saved that mid movie. I was 18 when I first saw TPM, so I don’t have childhood nostalgia for it since I was already old enough to know what’s cool or not. And I was spoiled by Jackie Chan movies that year as I collected about 30 of them on VHS and I still think Jackie is the GOAT action star. Sorry, Tom Cruise. The greatest lightsaber fight happened in Revenge of the Sith as it had more emotion in it. We finally saw the Battle on Mustafar that we waited for years and that would turn Anakin truly into Darth Vader with an asthma problem, decapitated with third-degree burns. But from a technical standpoint, the Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan was actually superior. All the Trade Federation and Droid Army crap from TPM didn’t matter to me. Or that long pod racing scene. Similar to Jet Li, Ray Park was a wushu champion. He’s a martial artist, one of TPM’s fight choreographer, and stuntman ala Jackie Chan. He knew his stuff. The coolest sequence was when we first see Obi-Wan go after Maul after Maul stabs Qui-Gon. It only lasts 10 seconds but it’s a cooler sequence than Hayden twirling the lightsaber behind his back when fighting Obi-Wan. Adam Driver did a similar move that Hayden did in The Rise of Skywalker when fighting the Knights of Ren. Based on characters, Vader would destroy his grandson in Kylo Ren. But in real life, Adam Driver could probably kick Hayden Christensen’s ass since he was an ex-Marine. Just like Ray Park can probably kick all their asses including Liam Neeson when he did Taken. Characters Vader > Maul > Smilo > Kylo In real life Ray > Adam > Hayden > Manny? I was surprised how cut Manny was in this series. Now he isn’t chiseled as say a Sly Stallone and Arnold who needs steroids to get that big, but he’s not scrawny that most of us assumed he was. I don’t get the comparisons to Ezra Miller or why he’s being called Ezra. They kinda look alike but not really. But I guess people keep calling him Ezra because of the similar haircut separated at the middle. Pacquiao who? This is the Manny we’ve been waiting for! I’ve never seen The Good Place. I first saw Manny Jacinto in Top Gun: Maverick as Fritz. He barely had any lines or scenes in it. Basically, only a background character and this was only 2 years ago. Smilo Ren (or unnamed Sith) and Sol are carrying this show. A Filipino guy and a Korean guy. Without them, this show deserves a 0% or sub-zero with the audience score. This is another attempt to make a lead female character (or characters in this case) only for her or them to be the worse part of the show. - Rey in the Sequel Trilogy. - Ahsoka in Ahsoka. Can add Sabine. - Mae and Osha in The Acolyte. Then all the complaints of other female characters like Rose, Holdo, Reva, young Leia, and so forth. Why couldn’t we just focused on Qimir/nameless Sith? Baylan and Shin carried the first part of Ahsoka prior to Thrawn’s introduction while Rosario Dawson delivered some of the most boring lines and reactions with arms crossed as if she’s high on weed. Felicity Jones got first billing in Rogue One but Jyn Erso didn’t come off annoying like Rey, Rose, Vice-Admiral Holdo, Reva, live action Ahsoka, Sabine, Hera, and these Aniseya twins all did. And many of the female characters in Andor were standouts and didn’t take anything away from how good Andor is. Mon Mothma Maarva Bix Dedra Vel Eedy The Armorer and Peli are two of my favorites from The Mandalorian, so I can enjoy female characters just as much as the males. The Acolyte is another Disney project focusing on female characters who happens to be the worst part of it. They should’ve just focused on Sol and Qimir in the first place. We don’t need all this lesbian witch coven crap. Amandla Stenberg is this year’s Brie Larson and Rachel Zegler. She’s going to be the most hated actress in Hollywood this year. She’s not making it better for herself by responding with a music video. Qimir and Sol are all people care about. Who really cares what happens to Mae and Osha? Bad acting and terrible dialogue which is worse if we know Star Wars lacks high standards for dialogue. Best lightsaber duels (live action only) 1. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in ROTS 2. Maul vs. QGJ and OWK in TPM 3. Smilo vs. 8 Jedis? Minus all the cartoons, you can argue Smilo vs. 8 Jedis is NOT even in the top 5. What about Mace vs. Sidious, Vader vs. Obi-Wan in ANH, and Luke vs. Vader in ROTJ? Even Kylo and Rey in that throne room scene after he kills Snoke was pretty cool. Same when Kylo or Ben fights the rest of the Knights of Ren in TRoS. But from a technical standpoint, this fight, while labeled “all style no substance”, might already be up there as one of the best. Smilo turned two Jedis into a human kebob. Then how he kills Jecki was pretty sick. I kinda wish we got another episode with Jecki. But I guess this time, they weren’t afraid to kill off characters unlike Grand Inquisitor, Reva, and Sabine still being alive after a lightsaber stab wound. What if The Acolyte’s final 3 episodes kicks so much ass, where would you rank it? Would it rank over Andor or the first two seasons of The Mandalorian? I highly doubt it. Mae and Osha killed this series before it started getting good because Amandla is doing her best Rachel Zegler impression. This Night episode is considered the best of The Acolyte but I still preferred Fallen Jedi and Far, Far Away from Ahsoka more and I didn’t personally love Ahsoka as a whole. Ahsoka’s Ep. 1-3 were slow, Ep. 4-6 is when it peaked, and then a drop off by Ep. 7 and 8. I gave Ahsoka a 7.5/10 overall while The Acolyte is at a 6.5. Still worse than The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ep. 5 didn’t change anything. Ahsoka also had one of the best characters ever in Baylan Skoll. While we get Yord over here. I think they killed off Jecki way too soon. She was a badass underneath it all. I love Shin Hati but Daphne showed way more badass in Jecki than what Ivanna showed with Shin and what Natasha showed with Sabine. And yeah, better than Rosario’s slow ass moves in Ahsoka. Qimir and Jecki were the highlights of this episode. I’m still hesitant watching next week’s episode. Maybe I will wait for some spoiler-free reviews. Just say right away if Ep. 6 is better than Ep. 5. Because if it is, then I will check it out. Don’t need to make a 20-minute vid getting to that point. Watch Qimir die from a very cheap death. Girl power! The ladies wins again and so easily. While the Mission Impossible movies have added so many females, but it doesn’t act WOKE like The Acolyte does by weakening the male character for the female character to triumph over him. Tyrone Magnus is questioning if this Episode 5 was a FLUKE or not? Because if it is, then things will not get better from here. If this the peak episode for The Acolyte, then the show is in trouble. Remember, we’ve been spoiled by recent episodes from The Boys and House of the Dragon which were very good. No bad acting or clunky af dialogue. We better hope the quality keeps improving. Similar to House of the Dragon, many of these Jedis during the High Republic are not battle experienced. They’re kinda soft and weak asses. But I was surprised how well Jecki could fight. When I first saw her fight Mae, I was like, I see you, girl! You go, girl in Martin Lawrence’s 90s voice. I think killing her off was too soon because I think she’s more skilled and quicker than Sol. Jecki was the Jedi’s best chance at killing Qimir. She moved better than the amateurish hits from Shin Hati attacking Ahsoka. But I guess that’s what Mae or Osha are for and they finally killed some characters unlike bringing them back after every stab wound. Expect another Rey beating Kylo TFA scene. Girl power, right Kathleen? More untrained women winning over highly trained male characters. That’s the landing I don’t want to see from The Acolyte but it’s the one I expect to see. Cheap death to the no-namer Sith. The Boys S4 Ep. 4: 8.8 House of the Dragon S2 Ep. 2: 9.0 The Acolyte Ep. 5: 7.8 (Manny saved it) Best Episodes The Mandalorian S1 Ep. 8 Redemption The Mandalorian S2 Ep. 8 The Rescue The Book of the Boba Fett Ep. 6 From the Desert Comes a Stranger Obi-Wan Kenobi Ep. 5 Part V (or maybe III) Andor Ep. 10 One Way Out The Mandalorian S3 Ep. 7 The Spies Ahsoka Ep. 6 Far, Far Away The Acolyte Ep. 5 Night Let’s hope The Acolyte did not fluke and Ep. 5 isn’t the only passable episode because those other episodes from the other SW series are B+ to A quality and The Book of the Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi are not considered good. While this Night episode is only a C+ to B- and that’s being fairly forgiving because Mae and Osha are trash characters we shouldn’t care about like we didn’t for Rey and Reva. The Acolyte needs to get better after this but I’m not sure it will. Manny’s character might be everyone’s new favorite but he’s not a character people are going to run out and buy his action figure. He still lacks the intimidating presence of Homelander and charisma of Daemon Targaryen. The Acolyte might only be remembered for being so bad and igniting this culture war between grifters vs. shills where the grifters rely on fake outrage for views.

They do kinda look alike, and we all know how Alan feels about the Jedi. 🤣

:-| imagine commenting before watching the video
yeah if you watch the video that's what it's about
Yeah. He Tardbaited us with this title/thumbnail
@toastyrules8221 I agree, it's not without its faults, I see all that but I can still appreciate it for what it is. It's entertainment.

A true sith would never reveal themselves like that, not without killing all witnesses. I dont like this show ive tried to give it a chance ive watched every episode and the cortosis helmet was the most logical/cannon thing in the whole show so far
@stevesmith42066 except everything you have mentioned happened in the old eu too. So no it doesn't break canon.

I was thinking that since the force was an energy field made and in all living things the cortosis is also highly resistant as well.
KOTOR/KOTOR 2 has implants and armour that interfere with the force. The entire concept of Yuuzhan Vong is objects interfering with the force.
My head canon is that it's easier to read someone's emotions when you can actually see their face and hear their real voice.

Just finished the entire video! Your knowledge and research is incredibly thorough and accurate. Much respect to you and your channel!
I see Alan is in Alderaan as seen in the background.
I've been looking at channels before clicking on videos for a while and have added so many obviously worthless channels to my Don't Recommend list.
So many channels seem to be solely dedicated to spamming only negative content. If I can't find a fair number of positive videos, I really don't see the point. Life is too short to waste on nothing but hate.
Stoked that they made some Legends stuff canon. Woooo!
A thing that has existed since the 70s doesn't break canon.
That’s the joke
You commented before you watched didn’t you?
I had no idea what cortosis(idk if i spelt that right) was until this show, and honestly its really cool imo,
I love how it was portrayed in The Acolyte
I’ve been luvin the Acolyte. I’m also usually not a fan of the Jedi and all the space wizard stuff…I think get too OP sometimes and the risk goes away (so many clone wars episodes…ugh) but I’m way more into the spy tech and assassin.. but damn this has got me. And that last episode was chefs kiss.
1:07 The word 💯% 🙂
She wanted to turn herself in to the Wookie because she had dirt on him and would have gave her a lighter sentence the other jedi just want to lock her up
As Mae said her plan involved a living Kelnacca and The Master being very far away, and I don’t think she was aware The Master was that skilled.
The material put into bullets to shoot at jedi is brilliant as the saber is their primary defense.
My blocklist of RUclips channels has massively exploded thanks to his show. Which is good means I keep the good Star Wars reviewer channels who are fair, balanced and debate both sides with integrity
Fucking weak 😂😂😂😂
Both sides how? What's the great positives of this show? What characters' t-shirt will you be buying?
Weak
@moabman6803 looks, choreography, plot, no plot-armor, i an not realy into byunig any merchandise
But the show is still garbage and most people were confused by the lightsabers going off as the show never tried explaining what cortosis was... I had to go thru a youtube video to get an explanation... The fight scenes looked good cause of all the effects and choreography but they also didn't make sense much like the garbage fast and furious actions sequences.
You’re correct a miscarriage of justice has occurred here…clearly the Holiday Special should be higher at 50%.
Man this series really exposed alot of star wars RUclipsrs who don't even know the lore themselves but parade like they do😅
The way they reviewed bombed this episode before it was even released is disgusting 😞.
As you mentioned its nothing wrong with saying you dislike the writing, pacing etc but the hate herd mentality that has been going on is wild
Disney: Has awful story and throws aside all lore… also: brings cortosis into canon
You deserve a LOT more subs bro. *A LOT MORE*
Can we all agree Manny Jacinto is a total badass!
Ironically, as someone who still hasn't watched the Acolyte yet, seeing cortosis in live action just makes me want to watch this series more!
just gotta shout out to the Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy games that also mention Cortosis, especially for the Force-infused Shadow Troopers
This is literally said in the video.
I once remember in a Legends book Luke Skywalker was attempting to modify his Lightsaber to penetrate Cortosis Ore shields, but it failed.
The acolyte feels very much like the prequels, bad dialogue and rough direction BUT really fun world building that can be explained later on
This metal is so rad, I've never gone into any of the legends or expanded lore so this was all new to me but I loved how it's used in those clips you showed.
I was super excited to see Cortosis be canonized. It reminds me of the bit in Legacy when Roan Fel uses his Imperial Knight gauntlet to turn off his opponent's saber. The Imperial Knights were so cool.
That's how he took out so many alone they were basically weapon less as any strikes were disabled...
you know i realize...asian actors are the best thing disney hired ...we need more folks in acting business of ours
Always appreciate your content, thanks for not playing into all the rage bait in the fandom

Of course, the order and capitalization on that is arbitrary. I'm a "grown" sort of fellow myself, but respect the miners ;)
Dafne Keen and Manny Jacinto saw this episode and they decided, "This is mine now."
I always expected a scene like this from Jecki Lon, though I was hoping it would come in episode 7 or 8, not episode 5, rest in peace. When it comes to Qimir...I suspected I was dumb for doubting Manny Jacinto's ability to portray a convincing and terrifying Sith lord, and I've never been more right about myself. Though, it sounds like he's not an Official Sith^tm. Still putting my money on Master Sol as the truth Sith of the series.
all this gonna backfired on youtubers far right critics faces when there one thing they can't stop...is people watching this online from sites that pirates gave high ratings than pay sites ...this series have 8.5 out 10 rating onstream app...and even online streaming have high ratings...so what is really gonna on with trumpers tubers ??? when they talked people gonna not listen them when they witness the series by their owned eyes than listening others mouths on youtube.. It backfired now when youtubers gonna lose the war with hollywood when inside out 2 made over $400 million as this day
And what of the people that are centrist/left leaning that also dislike/hate the show. The show is objectively badly written, but that doesn't stop people from subjectively liking it.

I really want to see how SWT will just spin and bitch about Cortosis. Never seen a more real life version of Icarus until I watched how fast he's turned into a shill.
He's actually insufferable and it's sad cause he used to be my favorite star wars channel
@@simpletown323 exactly dude I used to LOVE watching his videos for hours years ago. Now he's the first channel I've ever unsubbed from cause I'm just sick and tired of his negativity about a franchise he claims to "love".
Feel exactly the same. Used to love his content but now it's nothing but borderline right-wing hate.
Shill? Who is he shilling for? I think you people don't understand that everything is now going to be nitpicked and criticized because the show spent 4 brain rotting episodes breaking immersion and pulling people out of their suspension of disbelief.
First, it was people saying Mundi being injected into the events of the show wasn't a retcon because that was Legends and isn't canon. Now you're saying Cortosis armor that shorts out lightsabers isn't a retcon because it was in Legends.
is right wing hate different than just hate ?
if you read the comics, which is a part of that lore you mention is that the enemies of the jedi of old uses cortosis blade which can be see used on darth vader in one of the comics. if the steel can be made to resemble a sword or dagger and why not helmet and armor. The first thing i saw this i knew it is cortosis made.
You can't expect tourist who just pop into star wars to wage their culture war to know things like EU lore. They're just trying to do their best to be critical drinker or sw theory.
Grifters are ruining everything. I respect your opinion and that’s why I’ve been following you for years. You make good points. Backed up with why you feel that way. Don’t give into the culture war. You critique, you don’t just bitch
Dont tell me people dont know what cortosis is😭these non starwars fans are so tiring
Everyone seems so bent out of shape by his helmet shorting out sabers but as long as it had some cortosis that's exactly what would have happened letting them restart their weapons. So many said it didn't make sense but it's canon and one of the few things I thought made sense in the show.
I was a bit surprise to see Cortosis in the episode. I'll give them credit on that.
I'm glad I knew of this lore prior just so I didn't scream "ohhh look they added something new to cannon for their own benefit"
I love Generation Tech's content, so well-researched.
I don't agree with many of your stances regarding lore and the quality of shows, but I do enjoy that you are at least arguing your points well and I can recognize when you are correct in things. Cortosis inclusion is very cool and it was pretty obvious what was being used in Acolyte so cant really understand why so many people are missing it

Only the lightsaber duels saved this episode just like the Darth Maul vs.
Characters
Vader > Maul > Smilo > Kylo
In real life
Ray > Adam > Hayden > Manny?
Mon Mothma
Maarva
Bix
Dedra
Vel
Eedy
The Armorer and Peli are two of my favorites from The Mandalorian, so I can enjoy female characters just as much as the males.
Best lightsaber duels (live action only)
1. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in ROTS
2. Maul vs. QGJ and OWK in TPM
3. Smilo vs.

Let’s hope The Acolyte did not fluke and Ep.
The Acolyte is a terrible show. This show is pure fanfiction
