First time watching one of these videos from this channel, good to see another Australian around. Thanks for going through this. I started watching the show a few days ago, and I find it very cool. I can finally teach people about some basic chemistry through this show (and some engineering). Get excited, as Senkuu says - and it really puts into perspective human development, so many things we take for granted had amazing stories behind their development.
Some comments: The petrification process reminds me of Pompeii, obviously though not through pumice and ash preservation.
The anime gets a lot right regarding entropy (human civilisation collapses, most human structures broken down), but gets one thing very wrong about it too at the same time. When Senkuu and Taiju wake up from their over 3700 year petrification, they move about as if nothing had happened. No wasting of the muscles from inactivity. I guess one could posit that they were almost held in stasis, with metabolic processes stopped, almost like snapfreezing or suspended animation. However, the fact that Senkuu explains he had been thinking (by counting the seconds) during the time frozen, and was expending energy through his brain, you have to wonder where on earth he can get that energy from and not be completely drained of it by the time he wakes up, given that he is not eating anything. Apart from this clear violation of thermodynamic laws, cool concept for a show.

Senku is just a high school student with a high aptitude on earth sciences, electronics, communication, and chemical engineering. However, he's only good on theory and sucks at practice. His foundations were honed due to his step-dad being a Professor at Tokyo University and later became and astronaut. I really like how you figured out the Nano-bots on the first few minutes. Mattpat from Film Theory also made a video about this. I had the same conclusion too since I'm a Mechanical Engineer. I highly recommend to watch the whole series. It's quite entertaining.

The comment on light was interesting to me. When I read Plato’s Parmenides, I went deep into studying the relativity that Plato talks about there.
The first half of the book has all sorts of problems that the young Socrates gets confronted with by the older Parmenides. The second half of the book is known as the “hypotheses” (hyp) and has some very good insights, solutions, cognitive tools, and is an overall good training for thinking. Hint: the hypothesis, in my opinion, predict or generally glosses over just about any world view. The metaphysics for relativity is kinda alluded to, Post modernism is in it, you can see nihilism, and how a pure harmonious and mutually arising unity of all reality is in there. In other words, it describes a pure one-ness and bit by bit you can see realities that lose a measure of unity until you get a pure non-being. Quite interesting. Epic in fact.
So, the first hyp talks about THE ONE. Which I like to refer it as the “non plural singularity.” Non plural at every level of analysis.
As Plato says, and I paraphrase:
If ONE is one, then it can’t be many. And if not many, then the One can’t be parts, for parts are many. And since parts have a relation to wholes, then the one can’t be a whole.
So the One is neither part nor whole.
If no parts, then no beginning middle or end, for those are parts of anything. And if no bringing or end, then no limit or boundary. So the One is unlimited, or boundless.
If no parts then the One has no distinctions, for those are parts. So the One is indistinct.
I realized that if the One isn’t composed of parts, then what it is isn’t dependent on anything other than itself. So, the One isn’t relativizable nor contextual with anything for what it is.
And this by the way is what truth is. We say that True truth is true when it’s not dependent on how we feel, place or time, meaning it continuously remains consistently what it is across space, time, and perspective (people’s feelings).
The whole scientific enterprise in fact, as far as I can tell, is trying to eliminate what is relative, contextual and subjective, and is trying to find those iron clad Laws that fit the standard just mentioned.
So, the One is what it is independent of all other. Independence is a type of transcendence.
Plato goes on to show that the One can’t be predicated.
For example, is the one Same or Other than itself. And is it the same or other than other things other than itself?
If the One was the same with itself, there’d have to be another “THE ONE” to be the same as. Meaning, for anything to be the same, there has to be something else for it to be the same as or identical with. But if the One was identical with some other One, then they’d have to be in some necessary relation and the One would be two and not One.
If the One was the same with other things, then it would be those other things it was the same as and not it itself. Namely, if the One is singular, then the non-one is The many, and so the One would be the same as the many, and so not itself.
So, it appears the one cannot be the same with itself, nor the same with other.
Then perhaps it is other than itself or other than other things?
If the One was other than itself, then it would not be itself. So the One isn’t other than itself.
So, the One is different than other things. But then the other things would be different than the One in the same degree that the One is different than them, and so they would be the same.
So, it appears that The One can’t be said to be the same with itself or with other things. Nor is the One different than itself, nor different than other things.
It escapes being predicated of being same or other, equal/unequal, like/unlike, older/younger and so on and so forth.
Now, what is it about light that makes it not experience time with itself but takes Time to travel, and be said of it that it is such and such old because it left this star x years ago?
What is the is-ness of time? My friend has a fantastic definition but I can’t say it until he writes his book, but I’ll say this, and it’s not as good, but if time is change, then light is somehow escaping change, in one sense, but is changing in another sense. change is a comparative relationship. So, there’s something about light that immanent, or is here with us, in relation with us. But, there’s something else about light that is not in relation with us, to some degree. So, somehow light is transcendent and One with itself to some extent, but also immanent.
This is what the One does too. It’s transcendent, but it’s also immanent. Now I know people will say there’s a contradiction, but that applies to things made of parts. Logic is used on plurality, not singularities. Which is why I guess the laws of physics break down at the Big Bang’s singularity. And it’s not that the One is illogical, but it transcends it.
Now I know nothing on the physics. But that’s what I’d guess knowing nothing more on the subject. When you mentioned that little perplexity my mind went racing on it. I’m sure if I proof read this I’ll change some bits. But that’s how I see this at a glance

they recently started explaining a little bit (or to be more precise started making theories and stuff about it) about the green light that turned everyone into stone.
First they explained, it wasnt light, because there was a time difference beetween everyone seeing the light vs people actually transforming into stone.
They explained it was more possible that it was a wave of some sorts that traveled through earth, and they calculated the source in the show that it was originated in South America, somehow.
This show has a lot of different science on it, not only physics, and the green light (which they called Medusa) is something that the MC is constantly telling everyone that: "Its not magic, its definetly science and Im going to explain it through science".

I would love to see a more in-depth review with a point-by-point analysis of every major invention Dr. Stone recreates leading up to the transistor. There is a lot of good physics that you didn't get a chance to go over in this video because you spent a lot of time talking about the channel and yourself. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that a lot, but I do think talking about yourself and the channel can be done either at the end of a video like this, or in an entirely separate video. Keeping your analysis the central focus of this video series. The more concise you can be about covering each of the key points the video is implied to be about (from its title) the better you are going to hook more viewers with less patience than I. In any case, I appreciated the format you are starting to hash out here, so I subscribed and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you! Great work!

senku is mainly a physicist/chemist based on his backstory but he definitely knows a lot in other fields of science. Before everyone turned to stone, he had a great aspiration for space, and created his own small-scale rockets. Eventually, his (adopted) father took interest in his activities, leading him to join the space program (although he cheated in the physical test by using his son’s mechanical bodysuit to help him swim), and eventually went to space.
