Sea salt and a little bit of oil is what husband uses and if it’s really stuck use foil crunched up instead of a rag, but every time you boil water it takes off a lot of the seasoning that’s why it’s burns stuff to the bottom and it leaving small cracks in the metal. Try oil and the sea salt you’ll really see the difference

Totally agree about the boiling effect. Also never pour cold water onto a hot pan. It lifts the seasning and it flakes off.

I got one of thoz too! Looks almost exactly like urs, but mine has a small "lip" all the way around the edge, I guess to keep food from falling off. My bro in law made it & gave it to me, it's got horseshoe handles too. I normally clean mine like this too. Once in awhile I use salt as an abrasive & it also soaks up some of the grease!

cillaloves2fish Thanks for watching!! I made this one about a year ago, I was going to put a lip around the edge but I did not have enough material at the time. My next disc will be slightly larger with a lip for sure. Salt and a 1/2 Lemon are good for scrubbing grease.

When you oil it at the end , do you heat it up again to soak the oil in or just apply the oil and leave it ?

The oil just coats for rust protection. Warm or cold doesn't matter, but it flows better when still warm. It is NOT an additonal seasoning coating. That is already done. Applies to all cast iron or steel pans.

Adding boiling water to a very hot disc is the easiest way. Almost no scrubbing needed.

It's also the easiest way to thin your seasoning layer. Heating the water to just below boiling is best.
