Sonic frontiers was a big experience when it got announced, this game truly open the doors for me as someone who was getting invested by Sonic, by their characters, their stories, the games, and this one delivered on what it represents and what it's doing to the franchise for a positive change.
i thank Frontiers so much for making me a huge fan of Sonic and i can't wait to buy it when i can.

You know, it makes a lot of sense that the top 2 voted games are quite literally love letters to the franchise and to the fans that celebrate Sonic's history proudly and without any regret.

As a massive Heroes lover, I’ve never taken a harder L. It’s my favorite Sonic game, mainly because of nostalgia. I remember coming home from school when I was 6 and just dashing to my room to play it on my GameCube. I never minded the slippery controls back then, and I honestly still don’t today. As a matter of fact, I’m heartbroken that they can’t just rerelease the game due to the engine owner. Without the same slipperiness, it just wouldn’t be the same.
Okay, I just sound like I’m complaining, so I’ll leave it there. Fantastic stream, Fadel!
If I'm being honest here, I played heroes probably more than any other 3d sonic game. But even I have to say, the repetitive nature of the game sucked real hard for me! My 90% of the playthrough was only team sonic. I never liked the fact I have to play the same whole story and levels with 3 other teams and I can easily tell that's what most others felt too
Top 20 is still pretty damn good!
Black Knight beat it for 20 by 0.005%, but that difference is so small that you could probably get a different result had they taken this again. Black Knight has recently gotten modded with actually passable controls as well, which gave it an upswing.
Also, I personally was out of the country for the poll. My (5) vote could have made a difference on the poll lmao, it was *that* close.

Sonic Unleashed Will always be my favorite game off ALL times, It was The most injusticed game off ALL, The Werehog is based, The cutscenes are Peak, The story is a masterpiece, The music is beyond perfection, The dificulty is super balanced and hard when It needs to be, The ending is perfect and makes you cry, The gameplay introduct The boost and The Werehog hack and Slash is polishid , The Hub world is rich. In short people who don't think that Unleashed is not at least on top 3 are: Skill issues! My opnion
This was honestly an awesome moment to have the community come together to pick and voiced on which sonic game is cooll and good, it was just an awesome time hearing your guys discuss your thoughts and opinions on the entries

I’m very happy that some of my favorite sonic games are in top 25 that I enjoyed playing when I was a kid and it brings a warmth to my heart that you and everyone involved creating this list gave the community to vote for their favorite sonic games for fun and I’m really happy about that. Sonic 3K deserved number 1 imo. I think people don’t take enough into account the time period and relative release dates of each game. When you realize Sonic 3K came out all the way back in 1994-95 it puts things into more perspective and easily puts it higher than games like Mania, which while being very good on its own had a much later 2017 release date so relative standards should be higher.
But having said this we’re fortunate there’s so many good Sonic games to choose from in the first place, and 3K still had a good score in the end.
I’m really happy The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, Unleashed, and SA2 are very high on the list. Even Sonic Riders Zero gravity making 22nd place was a welcoming surprise :)

This was honestly a really exciting event and I am really glad I was apart of it! Glad to see so many Sonic fans coming together for this! That being said seeing Shadow not in the top 25 broke my heart since that was the game that got me into the Sonic franchise in the first place. Hurts to see your favorite game be so low 💔

Biggest shock was Heroes , I thought it would place Top 10-15, at least it made it in.
- Glad Rush was in the Top 10, IMPRESSED that Murder made it to 4 but again, it was so good!
- Sonic Riders and Advance 1 -3 getting love was cool
- I agree that Black Knight got better with age than when it first released.
- Called Frontiers being 5, Mania & Gens being 1 & 2 made sense.

Banger list!! The top 10 REALLY surprised me, but all of them were amazing games so I ain't even mad. So proud of this series and the fanbase.
I'd love to see a similar list done with fangames. It would probably have to be limited to complete or mostly complete fangames & exclude remake type projects like P-06 or the Generations Unleashed mod but I'd still be really curious to see what the community would pick. There are some absolutely amazing fangames out there.
I was so excited to finally see a massive poll like this for a full community vote! Also the discussion of the games in the results reveal was really nice to have, as well. However, I was also wondering, what games were most frequently ranked as #1 or #2 by individual voters? As opposed to average score (which could be higher for 'a game almost everyone had in their top three, but only 5% gave it the #1 spot' than it is for 'a game 15% said is #1, but 10% thought wasn't very good at all').
19:20 . Let's goooo! Both of my favorite games going right next to each other. Glad I could be a tiny part of this massive voting session. While I was kind of hoping Heroes would be above Black Knight, I'm still happy that they both reached decently high rankings. This was a really fun experiment though, and it'd be neat to see you try other experiments. Idk what kind, but I'd be just as happy to be apart of them.
I wish Sonic Adventure was a bit higher, but 7th place is still INCREDIBLY solid and a very respectable spot for my favorite Sonic game.

yeah, several things.
CD is a split opinion because it feels the least like a classic Sonic game of the first 4 games and it's level design heavily reflects this.
Heroes' controls didn't age well, they are slippery and the story elements are kind of repetitive. But the concept, music, characters involvement, and the fact that it was the first new sonic game that was multi-platform since the dreamcast died is definitely what makes it so beloved, but it hasn't aged as well as many people think, but it IS still good.
All in all, I think this list is a really accurate representation of the community despite what some twitter mfers think. I feel like if anything, Top 5 might shift a little bit, but not a whole lot.
SONIC BATTLE MADE NUMBER 23?! HECK YES! Easily an underrated fighter, and stupidly nostalgic for fan projects. Not to mention a lot of lore ties BACK TO THIS GAME!
I may be salty 3D Blast didn't make second (curse you Ian), but the ratings overall are super spot on I think, and Battle especially made me happy. 😊

both are great, but yeah unleashed is better imo
SA2 has a lot of hit it or miss moments, but generally there are significantly more hits than misses, and each “hit” hits like a G.U.N. Truck.
Also, screw it, I’m excluding the interactive visual novel (a certain word in its title might get my comment auto-banned on RUclips) on the grounds that it just isn’t a sonic “game”. With this, SA2 makes top 5 and all is right in the world.
This video's a year old today! Still one of my favorites. I wonder where Frontiers would rank after the hit and miss updates and where Superstars would rank (if I had to guess on Superstars: outside the Top 10 but it would have a Top 15 or Top 20 chance).

I'm genuinely happy Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles got to top 3 (& Knuckles lol). Not only it's my favorite Sonic game, but it's also one of the Sonic games that I played later, so this game is definitely loved by fans of all ages.

I voted highly for frontiers too :) I get that it has a lot of flaws, but man, I still adore it nonetheless
Heroes being that low is a war crime. People did a 180 on it, there was a time where people loved it more than Unleashed. I love Heroes and I wish it were at least Top 10. There are so many games I wish were higher (SA3 best Advance game, SA2 Top 5) but I agreed with a lot of it, more than I expected.
But then again, Mania is #1. The first Sonic games I ever played were 4 Episode 2, Lost World, Forces, and Mania. While I personally loved Episode 2, I hated Lost World and Forces. But Mania was my favorite. My brother would always ask me, “Why play the game with retro sprites when you can play the game with modern graphics?” I wouldn’t care, because Mania was and still is one of my favorite Sonic experiences ever. I’ve played so many Sonic games recently (as in the past year or 2), Sonic 3 and Knuckles, SA1, SA2, Heroes, All 3 Advance Games, All 3 Rush Games, Project 06, Generations, Colors Ultimate, Sonic and the Fallen Star, Frontiers, and Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, but Sonic Mania will always be the game that sparked a fire for Sonic for me. Mania, Sonic X, and AOSTH lit a fire that stayed dormant for a few years. But it sparked again 2 years ago when I started playing Sonic games on my laptop. Sonic will always be a great series to me, and Mania will always at least be in my Top 3.
After seeing the whole list now, gotta say... The community is definitely different lol, my favorite games don't look much like the community vote, this is my personal top 10:

The game had massive potential
Xou can see that in stuff like the environments looking really pretty despite the Wii U being a toaster
And the animation in the game is just straight up amazing
Like we need the animation of that game in the mainline games
And the voice acting (when not repeating the same phrase 30 times) is also really good.
There is a reason why the Boom TV show then had such good voice work

My first Sonic game was Sonic Unleashed on the PS2 (which was essentially the Will version). Its where I fell in love with Sonic. When I was a kid I even pretended I was Sonic and wanted to run really fast (idgaf I was a cringe child) I was never able to beat the final area in it (which is way different from the 360 one). Last year I replayed it on the 360 and absolutely loved it on my Series X!

Ecstatic the games (of the ones I've played) that I scored 5/5 on the poll all made it to top 10 😂 (Sonic 2, Unleashed, Frontiers, Sonic 3&K, Generations, and Mania) 🙌🏿. I think at the last second, I bumped up only Colors Wii from 4 to 5 just to try and be objective and throw it a bone (since it did came out in between Unleashed and Generations, and did improve somewhat on the former), but kinda glad it didn't help much 🤭.
Why because Colours started the whole story trend, are we just pretending that 06 story was good or something
I think a lot of us have a soft spot for games that let us play as our favourite characters. I'd definetly love a new Riders or Fighters/Battle just to pull out some of the less popular characters

Sonic 06 is legitimately my favorite and before you ask I’ve never even played Project-06. I’ve just played the original and I’ve felt this way for years.
Thats cool. It sucks that he keeps saying Project 06 gaslit people into liking the game when its still the same game by design, just severely unpolished. I beat it for the first time about 3 years and the level design is genuinely some of my favorites in the series and shouldve been the definitive formula moving on imo.
