Russ grew up loving both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar in Van Halen. Lauren has always learned toward Sammy, so much so that she isn't very familiar with Dave's solo work. Watch along as Lauren sees the video clip for David Lee Roth "Yankee Rose" for the very first time!

david lee roth in his prime was one of the best frontman in rock and roll...such an entertainer
Totally agree!
Absolutely! I saw him a on this tour and the paradise tour! So so good
Dave has a serious case of ADHD! I saw him a on this tour and the paradise tour! Some of the most entertaining performances I’ve ever seen
@Badass_Rooster he's such a great entertainer!
I remember when this first came out. Never laughed so hard in my life. Best intro to any video. Ever!
"Give me a bottle of anything and a glazed donut" is soooo Dave.
Haha yep!
“Son of a biscuit, my ancestors spit on your haircut!” Does it get any better?
The "Yankee Rose" refers to the Statue of Liberty. As much as the intro was meant to be entertaining and funny...I think there's a message there about the wide range of different people living here.
For sure. We get the deeper meaning, we were just having fun with this video %)
About the beginning of the video: The MTV Video Awards had really taken off, and many artists were adding acted clips to the beginning and/or ends of their videos. It got them more airtime on both MTV and the radio, and if you won an award, even better. David Lee Roth and Michael Jackson were very good at this, and others took their cues from them, and other avant-garde musicians. It was so much fun to watch it all come to life. 🤘💖
I would argue everyone followed Michael Jackson's lead regarding music videos. Dave definitely had some fun with them though!
"Nobody's stopping me now!" Great description. VH kept David in control to a degree, he was _unleashed_ as a solo artist.
Haha glad you got that, thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed it :)
One of the greatest videos of all time. The intro is like a complete comedy show.
The showmanship of this band is unparalleled.
The line up DLR had was absolutely stunning
I saw this tour three times. They ate. They smiled. We all won. One of the best good-time albums ever made.
We would have LOVED to have seen this tour!
The best of both worlds!! 🤟🤟
That video was the last time the world had any fun.
You might be right! I really wish we could go back to having fun again.
Facts 👍🏼
This video is so 80s. OMG I remember watching this on MTV when MTV was all about Music Videos. Lauren was not even 1 when it was out.
Best DLR song of his entire career.
I (Russ) totally agree with you.
@InfectiousGroovePodcast The Skyscraper album has a couple of decent songs but nothing as good as this. Seen DLR open for KISS right before the "pandemic" and he didn't sound good.
Just found your channel and watched it ,the song Panama has a great video as well if you have not watched it yet ,keep up the great reaction and bless you both as you enjoy your musical journey through music videos.
So glad you're enjoying the channel. We have a lot more videos on the way :)
Saw them on the Eat'em answer smile tour. Best concert I have seen.
That would've been so great to see in concert. Russ saw Dave in concert but not until years later
Greg Bissonette was just voted Best Drummer by Modern Drummer Mag
Greg is incredible!
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast and he is another disciple of the Dahlia Lama himself - Dave Garibaldi
Technically the face painted face of DLR is the whole back drop of the stage - his face between two fists 👊 There was a great Tour book from this concert.
Neat!
The beginning is meant to be fun and entertaining, and, it is.
Of course :)
I'm thinking a trip back to Dave World should be the video to Goin Crazy!
We can put that on our list of stuff to react to. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh God yes, Goin Crazy is Oscar worthy film stuff!! A lil ain't enough is pretty good too!!!
On the tours, Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan would trade bars and have a "duel". Musicians in the audience either vowed to practice more or just gave up on the guitar or bass.
Those two guys are just insanely talented!
The song is about the statue of liberty...
The intro was his satirical take on the melting pot that is America.
You should have seen the tour. It was 2 hours of this and every band member is still burning calories for the INSANE physical theatrics they were doing.
Steve and Dave didn't stop running, hopping, gyrating...
Steve is throwing his guitar so high up in the air that you're like "omg that's getting dropped"...
It was so energetic.
I would have loved to have seen that tour. I've been able to see everyone from that line up on other tours but you're totally right, that one tour in particular must have been just incredible.
The 80s had the BEST videos EVER....
@@MataMedia-d5f we agree! We're going to continue to add more 80s video reactions to the channel :)
haha "how do you feel so far?"
Haha, I felt like I had to check on her lol
Steve Vai rules
ABSOLUTELY
Dave was the consumate performer, the king of not taking himself seriously, and the quintessential master of the politically incorrect. Today's generation can't handle the off-the-charts bigness of the 80s.
To answer her question, Dave performed. What you're seeing is what happens when a true performer runs the show. He wasn't an artist or a singer. He was an unabashed showman, the PT Barnum of 80s rock n roll.
Totally agree with your points here. Thanks for watching and the comment :)
This was hilarious. I've seen numerous reactions to this video and yours was the best. I told David that gratuitous butt & wiener shots are not the way to go with your first video with a new band, butt he wood'nt listen. Liked & subscribed. I don't know how you can top this one....? AC/DC Big Balls?
Haha glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for subbing and the comment. We do need to do more 80s rock stuff than we have so far. We'll put some on the list :)
I always felt like I got views of Dave that I really didn't need in this video.
I have to assume Dave would like everyone to see all views of him, all the time 😂
This song is a tribute to the Statue of Liberty, the opening scene was a bodega in New York City
This video, especially the opening segments were not for serious thought. We were much more relaxed and happy to enjoy this hilarious ride. Nowadays….people get their panties in a bunch if you use the wrong pronoun. Softest society this world has ever seen
Hopefully our reaction came across as intended: we were just having fun with a video that Lauren had never seen.
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast that comment was not in response to your reaction. It was more for any woke enthusiasts who can’t comprehend life. Seems a lot show up and comment without thinking
@user-nv2gw1tt5o I hear ya on that, honestly!
Just go with it. Spiral out
We have another Dave reaction coming soon.
Pretty much any Video from the EP _Crazy From the Heat_ or _Eat 'Em and Smile_ is just classic wackadoodle Dave.
You ain't kidding haha
Only DLR could pull off assless chaps on MTV.
Dave got away with A LOT that others couldn't in that era lol
Not very long after this he started realizing he messed up leaving Van Halen
That's probably very true!
Try Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, etc etc !!!!
We're very familiar with all of the guitarists you listed :)
The Yankee Rose is the Statue of Liberty....the Segment at the top shows we are a country of people from different places and cultures...I just explained the intro in relation to the song....
We were having fun with a reaction video. Sorry about that lol
No I really enjoyed your reaction...just explaining what I thought to be the connection from the top of the video to the actual song...@@InfectiousGroovePodcast
@badbrad right on. Didn't mean to be a smart ass.....it's been a rough morning on the internet 😂
sorry bro!@@InfectiousGroovePodcast
I think she is traumatized
Haha. We had a request for more David Lee Roth reactions after this one, so Lauren will see more soon.
IMO you pause the video way too often.
Sorry about that. Thanks for trying anyway :)
We appreciate you trying to watch anyway :)
Talk about super group. Roth, Vai, Sheehan and Bisonette. And funny thing is Roth was probably the least talented member of that lineup.
That's a hard point to argue!
IS VERY CUTE YOUR WIFE.
Thank you! :)
FOR NOTHING, REGARDS.
Lol what?
Most outrageous video ever...yikes
It really is!
The beginning of the video is about our mixing pot of people.
That's a fair point
