Michael Jackson REACTION Heal The World Official Video Clip
Watching this is a little bittersweet now because parts of it are such a clear reference/love letter to Madonna, and with this video and then her next single Born This Way there was such a backlash towards her taking inspiration from iconic artists of the past. I wish the world looked at this as a tribute instead of thinking she was trying to get away with taking something, even though she’d be happy to tell you exactly what she was referencing and why it inspired her
Seven Nation Army by White Stripes has the instrumental which comes across as a chorus, so tricks your mind in thinking there is a real chorus 🙂
Five Great songs without a chorus - alternative list Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen Hey Jude - The Beatles Wish you were Here - Pink Floyd Pinball Wizard - The Who Paranoid - Black Sabbath Honourable mentions Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve Hello - Lionel Ritchie Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
That guy is playing a glass harmonica, invented by Benjamin Franklin.
Oh that's so cool. Thanks for letting us know that :)
The band Squeeze got their name from a Velvet Underground album called ‘Squeeze’. Up the Junction is a reference to Clapham Junction railway station, which is not actually in Clapham, but in Battersea.
Losing my Religion R.E.M.
@@CBCDs oh dang. Great call!
Drive, by REM.
Wow, I hadn't thought about that one either. Such a great song. Both the acoustic and the heavier rock version.
You failed to mention that the record is made from a digital file. The analog chain was broken, so this is a deal breaker for me.
I didn't fail to mention that, it's just something that wasn't important to me personally. I understand how it's important to others though.
To expand a little further, y’all should check out DJ Shadow’s work, from the early EPs to his Endtroducing album (also a Guinness World Record holder since the ENTIRE album is a beautiful pastiche of sampling); from Private Press to the two Mountain albums; from the one UNKLE album Shadow did (Psyence Fiction) to his newest work… He is always pushing himself and his music forward so each album is as he has indicated a glimpse into what is into, inspired by, and happening at those moments of his life. Without lyrics: Organ Grinder High Noon Midnight in a Perfect World Witches vs Warlocks Ghost Town With lyrics: Rocket Fuel Nobody Speak 3 Freaks But the best work is his live material & the first two are some of his best work as they show both his ability as a digger, a DJ, a performer, and a writer/producer: Brainfreeze (performed w/ Cut Chemist, all 45s on five turntables; the first of three projects but the best) Live in Manchester: The Mountain has Fallen (showcasing his ability to make work from different points in time blend together in unexpected and amazing ways) and floating around are other live albums and many bootlegs of live shows from the past 25 years
Oooo, you are speaking my (Russ) language! I grew up in Detroit so I used to go to DJ sets alllll the time. I'm'a look into everything you shared, thanks!
Like others, I’ve followed Aesop Rock for years. I have to agree with other comments and also default to some of the first tracks I heard by him. Daylight (first track ever heard) No Regrets Dorks Rings And, yes, L-L Larry is awesome! Agency! Empowerment! Humor! Amazing Beats! And then there are all the side projects from Hail Mary Mallon to Malibu Ken to Lice that are both fascinating and strange
Right on. Thanks for the comment. We're having fun digging deeper into his catalog.
1980 Live is a brilliant double album. One of my favorites.
It's my favorite version of The Wall
🔥 fire
@@msamiee definitely!
People like him aren’t once in a lifetime. They come around once. Period. Even in other lifetimes we aren’t seeing anyone like him again. Not even close.
That's a good point actually. There's never been anyone like Michael before and thet never will be again.
Brilliant reaction 💯; Elvis’ affectations were as part of his being as was walking and breathing. Genuine to his core.
So glad you enjoyed it. We have a lot of Elvis videos on the channel with more on the way :)
What else can u say - but Legend!
We agree! We have a lot of Elvis videos on the channel with more on the way :)
Hi I'm just watching your video today and I know it was 2 years ago that you posted it. I wanted to make a comment about the song It's Midnight. It is true that Priscilla was in the audience during that show, but I have read in a number of different sources, that he was not singing it to her and that when he called out her name at the beginning, listen Cilla, it's because apparently she was talking too much during his show and he was trying to get her attention. Not necessarily because he still had feelings for her, but that he was upset that she was not setting a better example of listening and not talking while he was singing. I am not sure of the validity, but I did read it in a number of sources. Something worth more research!
Oh that's interesting. I will definitely do some more digging on that. Hopefully there's some first hand accounts out there to clarify.
Michael the world will never see the likes and talent you possessed again
We couldn't agree more.
Oh. Masquerade. Listen to the lyrics on that one. You probably thought was some kind of lounge song, right?
we certainly didn't think it was some kind of lounge song LOL
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast Sorry, Not directed at you folks at all. Loved your list. "One might underestimate it as some kind of lounge song." is the way I should have said it. I was not keen on the song at first myself, but those lyrics are strong and deep. For some fiery gospel playing, "When This Battle Is Over" from Delaney and Bonnie's "Accept No Substitute" album. Some of Leon's best gospel playing on that record. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
@@paulmichaud7565 All good! Just wanted to be clear that (at least Lauren) is very well versed in Leon. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment. Glad you dug Lauren's list and we'll go listen to those you mentioned :)
the WHOLE blue album - his best stuff. Lauren you are dead-on about what is appealing about Leon Russell: A star because he is NOT a star -- just a real guy writing great songs.
Lady Gagme couldn't lick Elvis' boots.
Elvis would most likely be ashamed of such a childish comment.
Elvis is playing an electric guitar 🎸. If you haven't watched it yet, you should watch Elvis and the Black Community
This comment is fairly confusing. Hopefully you enjoyed our reaction :)
Up to last week I was a "best of" BJ fan. I just bought Piano man japanese pressing and I loved the songs outside of the singles. A note on Japanese pressings is that they will make you buy an eq as the mastering could be with emphasis on highs.
I (Russ) was a Best Of fan with Billy until I met Lauren 😁
I bought that set a few years ago and its fantastic 👍
It really is, isn't it?? By far my preferred wya to listen to these songs.
real!!
We agree. We love this album!
I would much rather hear his music from late 60s thru 70s. His voice was deeper and music seemed to have more soul. He was also putting out some naughtier songs like my favorite " If you talk in your sleep"
I (Russ) completely agree with you! I absolutely love Elvis from about 1969 on.
My personal favorites from this album are “I won’t” “yes I’m a mess” and “the DJ is crying for help”
I (Russ) will go check those songs out. Thank you for sharing your favorites!
Elvis is simply the greatest of all time ❤❤❤
We agree :)
One of my favorite songs from the 68 Special
It's just an incredible performance
Review anything from the 69 Las Vegas shows or really anything. I like it all, but do like the 69 to 70s .
Great suggestion! We'll put stuff from that era on the list :)
Liar live at the rainbow London 74. From their first album this album made me a fan way back then Blessings from England xx
We'll go back and listen to that track. Thanks for watching and thanks for suggesting that track :)
First time I have heard an AJR song as well, the lyrics were powerful, the tune very pleasant and the change in intensity and pitch gave it some variety, as it was essentially the same tune throughout, with the ending then adding something different. As I like a lot of Progressive Rock, it would have been nice to have a brief bridge in the middle; but otherwise the song and video held my interest.
I (Russ) went in having NO idea what to expect. I know they're very popular but I had no clue what they'd sound like. I was relieved to find out that my son recommended some good music to me lol
If you notice that he is drumming on a guitar case ❤
Yep, he sure is :)
I remember crying the day Elvis died because I understood it was not just the end of his life, but the end of something that would only happen once in the history of music - he was that unique. All musicians do covers, but only a handful can sing the songs of others in a way that takes the piece and turns it into something completely different and apart from the original. Elvis didn't steal anyone else's work. When he performed the work of others, Elvis transformed that work into something different and forever after identifiable with Elvis, but it also took nothing away from the work of the original artist. Early in his career Elvis got the work of many black artists, whose music would otherwise never have been heard outside the black community, heard but the white American population. As a writer, I believe that music is like literature. Everything that will ever be written has already been written. New authors simply find new ways the write the same things.
Beautifully said. Completely agree with all of that. Thank you for sharing that comment!
Saw Sheena Easton on the Reality TV show The Big Time: Pop Singer, which followed her attempts to get a record deal and part of the process was advice on changing her appearance from the standard long hair to the hair style like in the picture you showed. So very aware of her career right from the beginning. Obviously very aware of Tracey Ullman, from the Tracey Ullman show and also the first comedy sketch show Three of a Kind, along with Lenny Henry and David Copperfield (and not the American magician). Also saw Tracey Ullman in theatre productions as well and was a talented comedian, actress and singer. The song They Don’t Know was written by Kirsty MacColl and sung by Kirsty MacColl in 1979, before Tracey Ullman had much more success with her cover version. Kirsty MacColl also sung on the Christmas song Fairytale in New York with The Pogues.and she had been married to record producer Steve Lillywhite as well. In 2000 while on holiday in Mexico, with her children, she was swimming in the sea in an area that watercraft were restricted from entering, but was hit and killed by a speedboat.
That's so sad about Kirsty! Being from the States, I'd only heard of her because Guy Pratt mentioned her in an interview once. So I looked into her, liked her stuff then read about her tragic passing :(
❤️That cry in his voice is truly amazing and he was nervous and self conscious but he’d start to get so into the music that he loved, he’d start to relax. Thanks so much for doing this. 🥰🎸🕺🏻🎸🕺🏻😳❤️
You're very welcome. Thank you so much for watching and for leaving a comment :)
Early U2 is too good
We agree! Thanks for watching and the comment
This song is about God
That's a good perspective on it. We hope you enjoyed our reaction :)
I Hope you watched the netflix documentary that came out on the 13th. I could have done without some of the commentary but Elvis was fabulous. It was all about the 68th special.
We haven't watched it yet but we plan to soon :)
What are some of YOUR favorite hidden gems from 1980s pop music?
Howard Jones: You Know I Love You…Don’t You? (1986). His first two albums both had a string of massive hits, but this song from his 3rd album is probably my favorite Howard Jones song which didn’t quite achieve the success of his previous singles. The beat and synth line are infectious. And the way he punctuates the chorus with “don’t you!” Is brilliant.
I kid you not, we're actually going to see Howard Jones in concert tonight!
@@InfectiousGroovePodcast I'M SO EXCITED!!!
@@MrsLaurenRobinson Are you able to hide it or nah?
That’s awesome. Enjoy the show.
Elvis oresley was legend 2024
We think so too, we hope you enjoyed our reaction :)
Appreciate the insight into this ridiculously collectible and overpriced piece of vinyl lol.
Yeah, it's insanely overpriced these days for sure.
The greatest. No one is in his league.
We love Elvis. We hope you enjoyed our reaction :)
James brown actually taught him how to do the dance for this video.
We learned that from another comment someone left. How cool is that??
I agree with Lauren on Dogs, that is definitely one of the top 5 that a person should be introduced to! In fact all five should be from the 70s albums. So should be one song from Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you Were Here, Animals and The Wall! So my 5 would be One of these Days (as this was the first song I heard from Meddle the year it was released) Money Shine on you crazy Diamond Dogs (as it is on my joint favourite Pink Floyd album with Wish You are Here - also I grew up right near Battersea Power Station) Comfortably Numb
That's a strong list! I don't disagree with the thought that the 5 should all come from the 70s. My thinking behind including others was just in case someone may not like their sound in that decade. Personally, I couldn't imagine that but I'm sure they exist! LOL
I see are dog insta like
That's our beautiful girl Bella Donna. She genuinely likes Michael Jacksons music :)
I have very good hi fi systems. I actually prefer 33 to 45 for the sound quality. 33 to me sounds clearer and less rolled off in the highs. My best recordings are all 33. 45 does seem to sound a little faster. The timing of the music is different on 45. But for true high end sound its 33 for me. Then again I only have 15 45 recordings. But the 45s tend to smooth out the highs too much and for some reason
Hmm, that's interesting. It'd certainly up to how each person perceives what they're hearing, that's for sure.
Special time in music ❤🎉
We agree!
