      Thank you! I'd like to have a good mix on the channel. Some more speed-focused, others detailed. Maybe even a couple real long-form videos in the future. Lots to do this year!

    I do like the dark armor, as you say the detail pops really well against it. I also like the idea that you could vary how dark it is by using washes instead of the black contrast paint. I think this dark armor might even look interesting mixed with the white pre-heresy armor. For example, use the dark color on the pauldrons and helmet while making the rest of the armor white. Great video as always Mr. Matt. Cheers!

      great idea adding in some white armor sections! I could see a white helm or white trim... would look good!

    I'm about to get started on some Dweghom for Conquest, and your fire, scale, and armor tutorials are going to be super helpful for pounding out the army quickly. Scheme is light blue scales, rusted green armor, and purple to hot pink fire. Still getting my courage up cause I'm relatively new to painting and this will be the first army I've tackled for speed+efficency.

    This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, I really dig it. Nice calm voice, very nice footage and excellent painting, fantastic work. I might, uh, try to copy this particular paint scheme one day - actually probably the whole tutorial lol very inspiring! Happy New Year and I’m looking forward to checking out the backlog! 🍻

    Excellent work! I've been starting out with Incubi Darkness for my Death Guard, I'd never thought of using Dark Angels contrast. I love how your brass looks, that wash adds a ton of depth to it. I'll have to try that out.

    Great work
    Would love to see how you would adapt these for an alternative Dark Angels scheme
    Bet you get a better finish than the messed up official scheme with the cartoonish look they have

    Hey Matt, like always, you provided us a great video.
    I would have one little suggestion/request. I am using only the brands Vallejo as well as Army Painter. Thus, I do not know the Citadel paints and have no idea what kind of paint type you are using. So, can you write next to the paint name always the type e.g. contrast, base and so on? Would help me a lot in following your combinations (and adapt them) without the need to look up the respective paint.
    Thanks and as always, keep up the great content! Cheers

      Seeing the video now, its quite complete, but things like the green skin on the blightkings or the more purpleish tentacles/things would be cool

    • @MattsHobbyHour
      @MattsHobbyHour  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'll try to do a video for an AOS model some time. In the mean time, the skin was nurgling green, athonian camoshade, krieg khaki, screaming skull. The purple areas were based with Daemonette Hide, shade with purple wash, highlight Daemonette hide mixed with white.

    Really love the Brass as well - How would you do a "clean" brass - Same thing? Runelord Brass + Agrax/Nuln oil + reapply Runelord Brass?

    • @MattsHobbyHour
      @MattsHobbyHour  7 месяцев назад

      Yep I'd do the same thing without the turquoise. And then a final glaze of Reikland Fleshshade

    I recently bought a death guard combat patrol, and I am stuck on the idea of making their base greens a mint green/metallic emerald. Do you think that would work? Or would it be too much?
    This is a serious question.

    • @MattsHobbyHour
      @MattsHobbyHour  7 месяцев назад +1

      I do like a good bright color scheme, but I think that would be too bright even for Nurgle. I'd probably choose something else, but if you decide to go that route I'd love to see your results! Good luck!

    Do you ever use a matte (or non) varnish? The natural finish of the contrast paint kills me.

    • @MattsHobbyHour
      @MattsHobbyHour  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah usually testor's dullcote is my go-to. I actually didn't end up varnishing this model though. Some paints are glossier than others.
