How did you feel about these books? Any I didn't read that you think I should?
I'm right there with you about Sally Rooney. Never again.
I so don't get the hype... It was so boring lol
@@BookswithEmilyFox my thoughts exactly lol
Love how honest you are with your reviews! May not always agree but it is refreshing!!
I love this Christmasy background! I know the pages are from Jane Austen but they remind me of Christmas carol song sheets here with all the lights up 😄
You've no idea how hyped I was for your Goodreads award video lol
Thanks for the upload Emily! Love your annual Goodreads videos and life's been hard recently so getting this video notification brought me joy. Happy Holidays!
Hope you’ll feel better *hug*
@@BookswithEmilyFox Thank you!
You are very organized and great with reviews!!! I bought The Push last month because of you and agree.... Great all around! :)
xx
I’d love to see you do a whole category 😍 especially nonfiction based on how this year went
I was so looking forward to this video!! Loved it, thank youuu
SO EXCITED!! 💚🎅🏻🎅🏻💚🎄🎄🎄📖📖📙📚📙📖📙📚🎅🏻💚🎄❤️🎄💚🎅🏻❤️📙📖📖📚📚📖📖📙❤️🎄💚🎅🏻💚🎄📙📖📖📙📚📙📖📙📚💚🎅🏻🎅🏻💚🎄📙📖📖📖📚📙📖🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄❤️❤️📙📙
That filming setup 😍🎄
Weird sex stuff is understatement of the year in Billy Summers by Stephen King. I almost shouted out loud: "Call the ambulance!" in certain moment.
Love your videos! Happy December!
Omg you're so right about the last thing he told me. I thought I was just confused because I was listening to it on audio and assumed I had walked away for large bits.
Love the set up! 🎄
Thank you! I struggled so hard to build that tree (for a laugh: ruclips.net/video/Zaa5yq8Kqy8/видео.html) XD
@@BookswithEmilyFox LOL. Third time’s the charm 😁! Once I started the lights at the bottom instead of the top 🥸
Definitely pick up Empire of Pain! It was so well done.
The only reason I haven't is that the audiobook is like 18h and I didn't have time XD I will next year though!
I loved The Lost Apothecary!
I found The Last Thing He Told Me was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I really hated how it ended!
I also loved Razorblade Tears!
This was a great choice awards video.
You did it! You broke the GRCA video curse XD
The thing I liked best about TLTHTM was the relationship between the woman & the step-daughter. Speaking from experience, it was v realistic & relatable. I also thought the dialogue throughput was done v well.
I can't wait to read The Push. I have it on my December TBR! You didn't miss anything with Apples Never Fall. It was very disappointing, haha. And it was just ridiculous. And I didn't like Rock Paper Scissors at all. Mystery thrillers used to be my favourite genre a few years ago but I don't read many anymore!
I sometimes feel like i like the idea of M/T more than the books but I think it's just that the Goodreads list isn't for me at all
The last thing he told me was so strange to me. Omg yes it made no sense! I’m typing this as I watch 😂 I read it and I’m like wait how did she get to that conclusion? I think I gave it a fairly high rating because I was kinda hooked and read it fast but I don’t think I really loved it 😂 Apple Never Fall was about 100 pages too long. The story ended but it just kept going!!
If you read any John Green, I recommend the Anthropocene reviewed, the rest of his books are very YA.
I don't know if you would like any Alice Hoffman, but you should try something other than the Practical Magic series. In addition to Practical Magic, I have read The Dovekeepers and The Marriage of Opposites. In my opinion they are completely different.
We begin at the end sound book 📙📙🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄📙❤️❤️📙🎅🏻🎅🏻📙❤️❤️💚💚💚📚📚❤️📖📖❤️📙🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄❤️📚📚📚📚❤️📙🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄📙❤️❤️📙🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻🎄📙❤️❤️📙🎄💚😚📚📚❤️📖📖📖
Local Woman Missing I found so underwhelming and forgettable. But it helped me realize that I don't care about kidnapping stories anymore.
That book was terrible I ended up DNF ing it
I also DNF'd that one, it was so boring and I didn't care what happened.
The ending was unbelievable , not in a good way
you have to try rose code by kate quinn it was amazing! you might really like it
I'm glad we had the same opinions on She who became the sun and the Lost Apothecary, quite disappointing reads and both got me into reading slumps this year :( it's so annoying thinking these could've been great at first
I’ve started to review books a year back like 2021 to see if my view has changed of them
"The winner was mediocre..." I was cooking while listening and my brain froze for a whole second...🤣🤣🤣
My Fave Biography of all time
Appetite for Life: The Biography of Julia Child
OKAY YES!!! I hated the silent patient … I finished on the plane and was like wtf really that’s it ?!
OBSESSED with Emily henry and light from the uncommon stars more of my favorites! 💚📙🎅🏻🎄🎄📙💚📚📖📖📚🎄🎅🏻📙💚❤️💚📙🎅🏻🎄🎄📙💚📚📖📖🎄🎄🎅🏻📙💚❤️💚🎅🏻📚📖📖📖🎄🎄🎄🎅🏻📙💚❤️❤️💚📙🎅🏻🎄🎄🎅🏻📚📖🎄🎅🏻📙
Agree with you about The Last Thing You Told Me. As for Billy Summers, I don't think it has any of the weird sexual stuff and the ending isn't open IIRC. I really liked it. Doesn't feel like typical King.
Worth a try!
About Billy Summers (spoiler-ish)
I think the problems are that Alice is an SA victim, how Billy helps her get revenge, and how one of Billy's targets was a particular type of "filmmaker". I personally liked the ending but I do see how some people could find it open and disappointing, especially that it's kind of a fake out at first. Overall I thought it was one of Stephen King's best in a while, but I don't think it would help Emily become a fan unfortunately :(

Again I am asking u to explain an ending 😂. What is the conflict about the Push ending? I believe that the girl is really disturbed. Do ppl have other points of views?
SPOILERS
I've had many comment saying that the mother is the problem and I'm so confused... like that little girl is clearly the monster??? She harmed one kid and murdered her baby brother so why are we not agreeing here??? XD
@@BookswithEmilyFox this is what I thought too and this was confirmed by the phone call at the end. Weird that they would think differently. I would luv to hear their reasoning.
Well here's a copy/paste of one of them which might give you an idea:
"I hated The Push. As a mother of 4 I couldn’t stand reading about how the mother was so neglectful and abusive to her child. Any issues that child has later in her life I feel we’re caused by her mother. Putting headphones on to ignore your baby crying literally all day because you resent your life as a mother isn’t ok. The mother shouldn’t have had kids when she did. It was obvious to me that the little girl resents her mother and eventually her brother because of the way her mother treated her. You have to remember that one was a small child and the other is an adult."
@@BookswithEmilyFox thank u for taking the time to copy the reply 😍😍I get their point of view now. Interesting and valid points too if we assume the kid was normal.
Aw I loooved The Echo Wife! I’m curious what you think it was missing?
Toxic relationships were well done but no one noticed all that "gardening"? Nothing buried spoiled? Also how long does it take to grow a human? Build their immune system? What about the effect of growth factors on cancer? Eh who needs science.
I found it really unrealistic that they managed to cover up for the husband's absence for so long. I don't remember much but I do remember that generally I had to suspend my disbelief way too much for that one (and by that I mean not counting the cloning stuff in itself, I could accept that!). But it's been two years and I only remember that they solved the husband disappearing with a few text messages no problem lol
Hello! What lipstick is that? It looks gorgeous on you 😍
It’s the 3CE cloud lip tint in Immanence
@@BookswithEmilyFox thank you ❤️ happy holidays ✨
"Billy Summers" and "Later" are two of Stephen King's best recent books, but I can't recommend them because they both do have weird sexual stuff. There's a lot to like about Stephen King but you have to get used to the fact that you will ask yourself "Why? Did you have to do that?"
I liked The Push but I read We Need to Talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver first and think it's a better version of that story.
I loved the first two or three Liane Moriarty books that I read, and then I tried to read one or two others and kind of fell off with her. She just wasn't consistently good for me
When I think of Stephen King, weird sexual stuff doesn't immediately come to mind lol. Granted I haven't read all of his stuff yet, but I'm a fan and have read the vast majority. I'm curious as to what weird sexual stuff your referring to?
I have read everything he's written, and think that is a fair criticism. Emily was a bit traumatized by the end of IT. And something really weird happens in the middle of Billy Summers if you haven't read it. (Plus it begins with the aftermath of an SA scene.) I can think of many more examples if you'd like to discuss further :)
@@zachreads Ooooooooh yes, as soon as you mentioned IT (I haven't read it in quite a while) understanding bloomed lol
@@jenhall5718 I started paying a lot more attention after I started watching Emily, and there's quiiiiite a bit. Then again I've read Clive Barker so I can't be too hard on him.
I feel the same about salley Rooney. Never again
I agree about Malibu Rising. It was meh. It was hyped because the author IMO.
Even though you didn't read Billy Summers you summed it pretty well - weird sexual stuff & awful ending 😆
Lol to be fair that describes every single book I’ve read by him
I liked The Lost Apothecary, but found I only cared about the past POV. I had no interest in the current POV character.
Hello there 👋 hello there hi hey hi hey hello hey hi there 😊
Love you're lip color btw wat u wearing 😍
I tried to read The Push yesterday and 1h into the audiobook I just dnfed. Was not for me, especially the format. Second person narration? No, just no.
Aw yeah, The Lost Apothecary was such a dissapointment.
Please PLEASE don't read John Green's books. I know you'll hate it becaused I hate them. Don't waste your time girl!
