This paper mache dragon lives by the sea. It has sea colors and a nest made of driftwood. PS. Yes, it is a wyvern, which is still a dragon, like a poodle is still a dog. Visit www.GourmetPaperMache.com for more information about paper mache. Or visit my blog, www.PaperMacheBlog.com. Thanks for watching!

Thank you again for your kind remarks. I'm glad you like this art.
Dan
Hello Andy,
Thank you for you kind words. I sculpt with paper mache pieces. That provides a great basic structure. The "skin" of cloth and glue gives the project a lot of strength and durability (unlike just paper mache which can be brittle). I have projects at home that have lasted more than 30 years. It also allows for detail you can't get with paper alone.
Thank you for your interest.
Dan
Knowing you are a dragon artist makes the comment even more flattering. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Dan
No words can describe how amazing and beautiful your work is. What kind of material do you use for the eyes? Amazing work again.
tbh it looks like something they bought, not made
@InfiniteExploration 03 not a compliment or an insult. He's just stating that it looks like a marble or something store bought.
They use Googly eyes and clay for the eyes
Kiran Maurya 😂
Marii Murdered Meii my best guess is glass cabochons.
Remarkable work, and such detail !!!! You are an extremely talented artist.
Thank you Judi! I'm very flattered! Glad you like this dragon.

Thank you! I'm very flattered by your comment. That is high praise indeed.
Dan
You're most welcome. I never work with papier mache and was pleased with carving a simple bamboo hair thing for my girlfriend, but your dragons are in a different league.
That's so freaken awesome and so life like :D I loved the baby at the end
Thank you so much! I'm very flattered. And I'm really happy that you liked the baby at the end. Not many people respond about that. It was supposed to be a little surprise.
Take care
Dan
Your a really awesome inspiration to me!!

I just use "all-purpose" paint, so long as it's water based. Mostly it's latex I think, or some combination of latex and acrylic. Sometimes it's just house paint. I don't use straight acrylic. I've never had the paint peel off. I don't know why that would happen.
Dan
@GourmetPaperMache can I ask what you are using for the wing at 0:28?
Spinnr75
Some kind of thin cloth
@@katherinem. maybe with glue
This was really amazing and truly inspiring. :)
I hope to one day be at least half as good as you are at paper mache. ^^
Thank you for the compliments! It's all a matter of practice. One project to learn the techniques. Then your second project will be you masterpiece. Give it a go.
Dan
Can you do this?
It's so refreshing to watch a master at their craft!!
I'm trying to make a miniture for my grandaughters fairy house! Just as a jimny pot dragon lol,

Hello Emma,
Thanks for the nice comment. I'd love to see your dragon.
Dan
Hello. Thank you for your kind words. The scales are just square pieces of cloth folded into triangle. Nothing fancy. Good luck!
Dan
This is still my all-time favorite of yours!
I've checked out all of your videos since I have given multiple presentations over you and your work and still love this dragon the most. My classmates and I really love your work, and one of my professors prizes your Screamer book. Thanks for making paper mache awesome!
... i wanna play with it...
She would like that!
paper mache is never meant to be a clean work but from dirt rise the beauty of his magnificent work -migz
Wow. Your work is absolutely stunning. I love that the focus of your work is on dragons and other mythical creatures. Your papier mache sculptures are really incredible and inspirational. Thanks for putting your art out there for the world to see and keep up the amazing work!

The attention to detail with the scales is just magnificent. I feel like I have a zillion questions, but I bet most of them are already answered elsewhere in the comments...
Sr. Dan, quiero decirle algo, ¡Usted es increíble!
I can't get over how awesome your work is, phenomenal job sir!
the attention to detail is stunning, it must take a lot of patience for something like this
thanks for the reply! I also forgot to mention that I love how you include your cat in all your videos. cat lovers are the best artists. lol
I use polymer clay for teeth and the claws, like Fimo or Sculpy.
Dan
Thank you for your nice comment. I'm really happy you like my work. I do not offer courses but I have a lot of information about my techniques on my website and blog. Follow the links under the video if you are interested.

You are very kind. Thank you for your enthusiastic comment!
Dan
Gorgeous work. I recently made my own little dragon out of paper mache out of the few materials I have in my dorm. It is incredibly satisfying to make something with your own two hands!
Thank you! I'm very flattered. I'm happy you like the work.
Dan
Wow, awesome, never would've thought this much detail could be done with paper mache
Thank you so much Mary! That's a nice way to reek. But don't be jealous. Give this a try yourself. Many people have made dragons using these methods.
Take care
Dan
Kinda wish I was 7 years old watching this for the 1st time again this dragon was always one of my favorites
Thank you for the wonderful comment! So you are now a young adult. I'm really flattered that would take the time to come back and write this . It speaks to what a nice person you have grown up to be!
Take care
Dan
@DanMonsterMan - Thanks for the quick response! I've been taking a pre-made paper mache mask base, putting horns and fins in with wire and masking tape, and doing the cloth mache over them. No worries though - everything is still asymmetrical :) I shall continue tinkering - and happily watching this latest dragon - and the baby in the egg! Sweet! Thanks again! - Nine
Hello Nicole. Yes, it is cloth dipped in white glue.
Dan
I loved it ! Great tecnique !

One of my favorite works of yours. At least the ones that I've seen on youtube.
Dan.... this brought tears to my eyes... your taking this Paper Mache to a whole new level. This is got to be my favorite! Just amazing...
I want to one day do something like this as a tribute to you. I don't know how well I'll do, but I have to try. I can go on and on about the perks using materials like this. But the greatest must be the freedom to do something in ANY size. OMG, this is AMAZING!
You deserve more than a recognition. Your talent really inspire me to explore my own talent. I mean, not like this but I am trying to discover what I really have. Keep up the good work Dan!

This is gorgeous.. I'm still halfway through my first monster following the directions in you book. I promise that I will paint my jaws first...
Oh, and I ended up making a random fun project with on of the extra paper mache balls I "had lying around the house" on your advice. I hope to one day tackle the wall hanging "wall trophy"!
Thank-you, I think your book and work is wonderful.
Thank you for sharing your great talent. I may not have the ability to do the same thing but I am happy to see that this kind of art can be possibly made. Your hands are truly an inspirations to younger artist!
Wow! This is incredible! I can't believe that it's made out of paper maché!!!!!
Ok, that baby dragon in the egg might be the cutest thing ever. Your attention to detail is just phenomenal- you've inspired me to start my own (much smaller/more modest/super beginner) paper mache project! Thank you again for your videos- I've been mesmerized!
Thank you Skylar. This is a really sweet comment. I'm happy that you like the little baby dragon at the end. Good luck on your project. You will enjoy this medium.

You are very kind. Thank you very much for your comment DawgeGaming!
