  • Todd Boehly recently completed the purchase of RC Strasbourg in France, putting another club alongside Chelsea under his control. He has also reportedly targeted teams in Portugal, Brazil and Belgium too, as part of his BlueCo consortium. The intention is clear; Boehly wants a multi-club network, in the mould of City Football Group, Red Bull or RedBird Capital.
    But why is he following this strategy? And what could it ultimately mean for Chelsea? Watch our latest Explained to find out..

      ... but they're several years away from winning the league imo. A squad packed with talented players - but precious few natural leaders. When the chips are down and Silva is injured, have Chelsea the mental strength to come back from being 2-0 down against a top opponent? We'll soon see, but for now I'm not totally convinced they do.

    So probably the arms race between the consortiums are just getting started. I can confidently say that in the near future all clubs in the World will be state owned/consortium owned with multi clubs model (except for maybe Real Madrid). This will be very bad for football.

  • @corvusglaive5769
    @corvusglaive5769 Год назад +10

    Boehly knows that it would be impossible for clubs such as Chelsea to compete with the financial muscle of state owned clubs such as City, Newcastle or PSG. These clubs are literally owned by rich nations and can easily circumnavigate any FFP rule that is set into place, which gives them relatively unlimited resources. Therefore, the only way to compete against them would be to capture young talent at a very early stage and move it across a network of co-owned clubs so as to keep the transfer fees as low as possible.

    It has been a disasterous start for Chelsea since ownership took over, but ultimately there is clear vision, and a desire to invest in the club. As a fan I see it as a positive. I wish we would've performed better last season, but genuinely I think Boehly has the right idea and intentions. Him and Clearlake Group want Chelsea and all clubs in the multiclub model to increase in value. The only way to do that is to WIN. Every club should be so lucky to have owners that genuinely want / need the clubs to become successful in all competitions, otherwise their investment would have been for nothing.

      @@timmoore8623it hasn’t worked for Southampton very well. Brighton might be alright because Tony Bloom is an excellent owner and can seemingly replace anyone. But it certainly will not help them achieve their goal of becoming a consistent top10/ European club. Boehly is killing healthy football clubs by throwing his weight about just because he is wealthier than other owners.

    • @timmoore8623
      @timmoore8623 Год назад

      Agreed it’s not a good business model for Chelsea. He’s bought too many players too quickly but the idea of multi club ownership in general is a good idea. Southampton with a bit more cash would never be relegated as they are run really well, just ran out of finances for new signings at the wrong time

    • @rlc04-__
      @rlc04-__ Год назад

      @@timmoore8623 multi club ownership is a very effective business model. But it certainly isn’t an original idea of his. Like the video mentioned, Manchester City and Brighton both have sister clubs in different leagues who nurture their out of favour talents and make them ready for the premier league. But just because he owns multiple clubs and can loan out his many players to those clubs doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll work out. Brighton have an acclaimed scouting network, so many of these talents who come from South America, asia or the less competitive leagues across Europe can showcase the talents that Brighton have identified them at a fairly high level (USG competing in the Belgian league which is considered a top 10 league via uefa coefficient and of course now in European competitions on a regular basis). None of Chelsea’s sister clubs can really offer their talents a challenge in Europe or a top league that Brightons or even Man City’s (Girona mainly) can. Most of boehlys vision has been copy and pasted from both clubs which isn’t a bad thing, but his execution has been extremely poor.

    Meanwhile look the other way as PSG and City and UEFAlona do their stuff.

      Do you know how many % football club is profitable ?
      How long they can burn their investor money on their project ?
