The 50+1 rule makes it kind of complicated, but with german clubs you have to distinguish the association club and the club company. The original club association (i.e. the members) must have 50+1 votes on the board of the company. While 777 have a 78% or so stake with the revenue of the team, the association club still appoint 100% members on the board. So while 777 is a very big influence, Hertha members still control the club. And german fans kind of hate investors, so I can assure you that the members will make use of that control, if things go even more down hill at Hertha.

The situation with 777 in Vasco da Gama is pretty strange. I'm not sure if they are going to pay those clubs for the 2023 transfers, but let's suppose they'll do: Vasco spent R$ 110 million (23 million dollars) in January, but with some questionable signings: R$ 20M in an unproven argentinian winger (Orellano), 32M in two shaky center backs (Capasso and Léo), 20M in a one-season wonder striker (Pedro Raul) and in a right-back that can't defend (Puma Rodriguez). The only good signings were Jair, Lucas Piton and maybe Leo Jardim. But that's not the main problem: 777 has contractual obligations to provide some cash injections. In July 2022, before the deal was completed, Vasco took a R$ 70M loan with 777 (from R$ 700M they are supposed to invest) to pay debts and wages, because the situation was terrible. In September, the deal was finished and 777 made a new investment of R$ 120M. Everybody thought that this R$ 120M investment would be used to buy new players for 2023, but in fact, they only have paid for the transfers of Pedro Raul and Orellano (this week they also paid for Leo Jardim, in the last day before getting a transfer ban). Now we are waiting for a new cash injection that is scheduled to happen in September (R$ 190M), but as Maqwell said in the video, teams are already going to FIFA to get their money. And it gets weirder because we don't know if they are using their cash injections or the club revenue itself to buy new players. Pedro Raul was already sold to Toluca for R$ 24M (that was a miracle), Eguinaldo for R$ 21M to Shakhtar Donetsk and, of course, Andrey Santos to Chelsea for R$ 68,4M. So that's the thing: we have spent 110M in a shit squad, our stadium is falling to pieces (777 did absolutely nothing to change it since they arrived) and now we are looking desperately for new signings to avoid our fifth relegation in 15 years (Vasco had never been relegated before that). I'm a Brazilian fan of Vasco da Gama, and I'm Sad to see that today, July 24 of 2023, Vasco IS in The last position of The Brasileirão. But your content is great and i support it
Vasco's situation gets a little more sad once you look at certain things, they have just been passed in the league table by Coritiba, who just won their first 2 games in Série A and also the fact their rivals are doing so much better, specially Botafogo who operates in a similar business model under John Textor (Crystal Palace, Lyon). Also last year it wasn't so simple, they had a last game against Ituano where if they lost they wouldn't actually get promoted, there was a penalty, which Nenê (Vasco) scored, and a red card against Ituano, but even then Vasco were playing as if they were the team with 10 men, and eventually Andrey Santos (Chelsea) got a red card as well and made the game more nerve wrecking for Vasco fans. The problem with vasco is the ones they put it on to manage the money that 777 invested on the team, the CEO until august 1st was Luiz Mello, a Flamengo socio-supporter (yes they put it this guy at the command) and Paulo Bracks, that take 1 month to negociate with teams and players, for in the end the negociations end in nothing.
This is not surprising in the least. If businesses and single people are able to buy a club completely, you would expect single people or businesses to buy multiple clubs. It is an interesting fact, that many people don't think about or ignore as it sounds strange, but unrestricted capitalism hurts the market economy. If a market is unregulated a few rich entities, often those that have made their money elsewhere will start to control more and more. To insure competition its important that the more you have, the higher the regulations are. We are talking about people you could tax 95% and that could still buy a yacht, a mansion and a private aircraft. Btw I don't know how companies seem to always be able to just sponsor clubs like Hertha, it should be blocked under the German rules and should be blocked in any reasonable system.
as genoa fan i have to say they bought the club from a president who was bleeding the club dry and when they bought the club it was already close to the end of the season and it was already very likely the would get relegated. And now they have bought many players and seem to spend much money on trying to benefit the club in genoa you almost wont find a fan who isnt thankfull of 777 partners this season we shattered the all time record of season tickets sold and the motivation from players management and fans seems to be at an all time high so i as agenoa fan really am thankfull of their immense investmen in the club. Ofc i know that this is a doubleedged sword but i think it will pay off
I'm Belgian and for standard the team played one of their best seasons in a while and were sometimes playing really good but indeed behind the scènes it's one big mess
Thank you for this video. 777 also has a majority stake in the British Basketball League… as well as an ownership stake in the London Lions… who play in that very same league. No conflict of interest there, right? Basketball is a minority sport here in the UK and unfortunately, the government would rather invest in Olympic medal winning sports (e.g. archery and shooting) instead of a sport that is played regularly by those in the biggest cities. As a result of this lack of government assistance, the BBL has been… somewhat financially unviable for a number of years. The first thing 777 did upon gaining power over the league was get rid of the salary cap. The financial situation from club to club varies wildly, so the salary cap was essentially the way of maintaining a level competitive playing field. Without this salary cap, 777 have been able to pump millions of pounds (of loaned money) into their team, the London Lions. It is common knowledge that the salary of their star player, former NBA journeyman Sam Dekker, outstrips the salary of multiple entire teams. As you can imagine, that means the competition has essentially been bought for the London Lions. The worst part for me personallly, is my club, the Plymouth City Patriots (along with the Manchester Giants) are now fully owned by 777, meaning that, most likely, if 777 were to go away… then so would my club. The accounts for 777’s London Lions are a month late, which often means there’s something they want to hide. It has also been recently rumoured that 777 have been unable to pay multiple players on the Manchester Giants, even with the large amounts of loaned cash. I don’t know what will happen to the BBL in the near future, but it isn’t looking good.
They may have to restart from a lower Div one day but they have a loyal and rather large fan base for the level they are playing at so I think as long as the club doesn't fold completely it will be fine in the very long run once 777 are out
I have no clue how Vasco actually accepted the deal proposed by 777. In Brazil, Vasco is a really big club with a ton of supporters and a lot of championships in the past. I’m not a Vasco supporter, but I’m pretty sure they could have gotten other deals if they didn’t sign with 777. I still have no clue as to why Vasco chose to sign with 777 after reviewing their track record with the other clubs they own, seems very unprofessional and probably even corrupt.
@@carlinhospaia I’m not a Vasco supporter, but I can recognize that a club of their size has to do their due diligence before accepting a deal like that. 777 were rejected by every other club they made an offer for, even if their offer was the biggest in terms of money… of course something was off. Even if Vasco haven’t won anything in a while, they’re a traditional club from Rio de Janeiro with a pretty big fanbase who are all very passionate. They should’ve done a better job.

I am a Flamengo supporter since i was i child (born Flamengo, Die Flamengo) and Vasco da Gama is one of our biggest rivals, even if they are rivals i must say that i am sad about the situation they are right now. Nowadays Flamengo and Palmeiras are the two clubs that are "sharing the throne" on south american football (see the last Libertadores, Brasileirão Serie A , Brazilian Cup and other titles, Flamengo and Palmeiras are on the recent winners how A LOT) and Vasco is a great club that have the potential of this too, but today they are the last of the league table and they are fighting an almost lost war agaisnt the relegation (In 1998 Vasco da Gama was the Libertadores Cup champion, they have won a lot of continental and national titles and played very well against Real Madrid at the 1998 Intercontinental Cup, also they had 0 relegations, today they have 4 relegations (maybe 5 at the end of the season) and they are not winning big titles since 2011...
Being a Melbourne Victory (my hometown club) and Hertha Berlin fan, seeing 777 buying both in such a short time was a bit strange, became quite concerning when I saw how many others they were throwing money at, we (Melb Victory) are so blatantly the lowest priority that I am baffled as to why they even bothered. Our derby rivals, Melbourne City FC, are owned by City FG and although they definitely one of the smaller clubs in the CFG, seeing their exponential growth in the league and also the investments made by CFG to their academy and facilities has been impressive, annoyingly CFG have really nailed it when it comes to giving Melb City everything it needs to be a dominating club in the A-League.
maybe they'll make a game one day that's called "Football Investor", you know, where not paying taxes is actually an in-game option. if you play as an american your goal is to make as much money as possible without going to jail. if you play as a saudi, you have infinite money, but the goal is to make everyone forget that you had a journalist murdered.
Série B Brazilian League last year Cruzeiro, Bahia and Vasco became companies to get money injected. Vasco and Bahia are in relegation zone. Cruzeiro in 11th i think. Grêmio remained a pure club, owned by the fans, with elected counselors, president, etc. Grêmio is currently at second in the league and semi final of Brazil Cup.
There are more examples of multi-Club ownership with Brighton and Brentford. These are Clubs that enjoy a reputation of gaining success the right way but they also profit from it
i just made a comment about 777 sounding like a gambling company. the irony here is that the owners of brighton and brentford actually made their money in the gambling industry. the difference between these owners and 777 is that they made sure their club is doing well before purchasing another one and they actually have business plans
I think we need to respect how good the city group is actually done, most of those teams(apart from girona) are not historical or are teams that will never get anywhere even with a lot of money. City group basically focus on fiding talent in those countries, you can tell by the ones on Montevideo or NYC.
As a Nac Breda fan, we bullied the city group away because we knew we weren’t priority for the group. So ye that image of the global reach isn’t really true

City football group is as of now the most succesful in this type of structure, no club has had its players fed to city instead city academy players have gone to other teams like troyes.
FIFA needs to step in immediately before this gets out of hand. Look at America. You want 3 corps to eventually own everyone? All of these teams will be sucked dry and it is very sad.
As a fan of Vasco da Gama, I can say that 777 doesn't know crap about football and doesn't care about the fans in general. We urged our Gigante to be bought because we got tired of Série B and wanted to bring back our glorious days. But we are still living the nightmare and with the risk of being relegated again. With Vasco I can't have a single day of peace.
I remember when my club was sold to those bastards had a feeling that something may not go well, now, I honestly even miss the old mess, the mess my club was in the last 20 years
as a Vasco supporter the 777 part is kinda alright, they have paid what they owed to now, but the people they appointed to manage the money is a joke. For exemple the Ceo (Luiz Mello) of Vasco is a supporter of the biggest rival flamengo, and the football director (Paulo Bracks) dont have any attitude to do something after a disaster occur, like what happened after the loss against goiás. And now the club is without a manager for 17 DAYS in the middle of the championship with the club in the bottom of the league.
The irony in an Argentine club asking FIFA to punish Vasco for a player that hasn’t been paid off when there’s clubs in Argentina that haven’t paid off MULTIPLE players for MULTIPLE clubs
Atlético Tucuman are one of the best run clubs in argentina and they have been pretty much debtless for over a year or two, so I think they do have the right to ask for the money from a player they sold. Even when they're a mid table club in the league as of today they are good with finances. Can't really say that about other clubs though so I see where your comment is coming from
Maxwell brother, it is Melbourne Victory not City and stuff did already happen with them. Their ultras ran on the pitch during the derby and punched the City goalkeeper due to protest after their owners were apart of a sellout campaign for our league.

Just a small correction: SAF is not a minority shareholder. SAF is what is called brazilian football clubs as enterprises. This is new, in Brazil. Up to 2019 all the clubs were... clubs. Owned by the paying associates. Now football clubs can become SAFs and sell their stakes.
Drinking game, take a shot every time maqwell says 777….
You better be using 1% light alcohol beer if you want to survive it
Currently in the hospital
Dec. 7 2023: 777 are (for now) sighing in relief as one of their clubs (Vasco da Gama) beated Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 and avoided relegation to Série B
However, just for now
Maqwell está vivo e vai jogar no Vasco
Watford x Udinese ownership is probably the weirdest. Both average clubs in each country I feel like the owner keeps the both clubs mid lol
Having little investment from the owners is something I can relate to as a FC Dallas fan. We spend barely anything on transfers, marketing or the stadium, and it feels like the Hunt family only cares about the Chiefs in the NFL
Update
After 17 games, Now Vasco has 9 points
What is the lowest amount between Brazil First three divisions
And they just lost a transfer because the other club asked to some prof that they would be paied (what they didnt showed)
1:50 “acquired Vasco de Gama for 330 dollars”
Oops
To be fair, that's how Vasco is worth nowadays
1:45 he said "330 dollars"; "Brazilian football biggest transaction ever". lol
At Vietnam, there is 1 person who owns multiple club in the same league.
I'm a Brazilian fan of Vasco da Gama, and I'm Sad to see that today, July 24 of 2023, Vasco IS in The last position of The Brasileirão. But your content is great and i support it
Anyone here after they’ve now bought Everton. Yep, we really have no luck.

Im brazilian and i was not expecting to see Vasco in one of your thumbnails lol
Vasco is soon going to play for Vasco
Brazil's memey new way to say someone died is saying that they started playing for Vasco
Love seeing Brazil in foreign videos, even if it is most of the time for the wrong reasons😅

Do you use the Estonian flag for Gremio? lol
@@hadhamalnam yeah, it's the one that has all three colors of the club like that. In Brazil plenty of people use countries' flags for their clubs' colors

That's actually wild, I own both a Vasco and Red Star jersey.
RIP Everton 😭
1:53 Its insane how they bought 70% of a football club for only $330 and it was brazil's biggest football transaction ever.
Giant debt, 4 relegations, political/internal crisis and at that point there was no one else turning football clubs into "companies" lol
It was a joke dudes...
@@VeioooOOO Someone gets it

I guess I just witnessed the most german way to pronounce Hertha Berlin by a non-native speaker.
as genoa fan i have to say they bought the club from a president who was bleeding the club dry and when they bought the club it was already close to the end of the season and it was already very likely the would get relegated.

I don’t know what will happen to the BBL in the near future, but it isn’t looking good.
red star was one of my first clubs on football manager so i’m very scared for the future of the club
I still have no clue as to why Vasco chose to sign with 777 after reviewing their track record with the other clubs they own, seems very unprofessional and probably even corrupt.
abramovich was interested b4 the war :((
big club? vasco is like a nottingham forest, win a few trophies in the past, but dont win nothing a while
@@carlinhospaia I’m not a Vasco supporter, but I can recognize that a club of their size has to do their due diligence before accepting a deal like that.
@@j-lon3564 they can be traditional, but a big club? i think not. They have be in serie b four times, and they won serie a four times too. Probably vasco will be relegated this year
O Vasco tava desesperado, esse é o problema
Everton are finished lmao
Why can't I manage clubs this badly financially in Football Manager? The unrealism!!!
maybe they'll make a game one day that's called "Football Investor", you know, where not paying taxes is actually an in-game option. if you play as an american your goal is to make as much money as possible without going to jail. if you play as a saudi, you have infinite money, but the goal is to make everyone forget that you had a journalist murdered.
777 plundging Vasco into relegation for the club's 5th time is just their way of honouring Brasileirao heritage
Série B Brazilian League last year
Cruzeiro, Bahia and Vasco became companies to get money injected.
These are Clubs that enjoy a reputation of gaining success the right way but they also profit from it
Brighton & Union SG is a succes story!
i just made a comment about 777 sounding like a gambling company. the irony here is that the owners of brighton and brentford actually made their money in the gambling industry.
the difference between these owners and 777 is that they made sure their club is doing well before purchasing another one and they actually have business plans
I think we need to respect how good the city group is actually done, most of those teams(apart from girona) are not historical or are teams that will never get anywhere even with a lot of money. City group basically focus on fiding talent in those countries, you can tell by the ones on Montevideo or NYC.
They genuinely know how to do it, it's actually impressive how well they do it
As a Nac Breda fan, we bullied the city group away because we knew we weren’t priority for the group. So ye that image of the global reach isn’t really true
Who came here after Everton?
I’m here because of flair and bonza(ryan air of Canada and Australia)
These guys “cripple seven partners” (not seven seven seven partners lol)

You should do a video about Bury FC and their expulsion from the English football league
It's a good day when Maxwell uploads
As a standard de Liège fan speaking yes they haven't spend the moast on transfers but that is because they payd of al the depths op the club made by the previous owner but the transfers they did make where realy good ones they also apointed fergal harkin sporting director of the club (ex Manchester City) they also apointed yaya toure as our assistent coach and we had a really good season getting back in the top 6 of te leauge after bateling against relegation in moast of the previous season under the different owner and they are trying to get the club self sustainable again
And the goal is to get back in to Europe nearly happend and the long term goals is to win the league titel again
Bem vindo ao gigante, Maqwell!
City football group is as of now the most succesful in this type of structure, no club has had its players fed to city instead city academy players have gone to other teams like troyes.
Vasco da Gama its always suferring to stay alive in Série A (Brasileirão) and the 777 Partners just become another problem than a solution.

13pm: my life is perfect after watching Maxwell essay
Wow! Looks like Everton might be screwed
É o gigante ali?
FIFA needs to step in immediately before this gets out of hand. Look at America. You want 3 corps to eventually own everyone? All of these teams will be sucked dry and it is very sad.
You keep them , American's are already taking them to court. #these men are pigs
Genuinely thank you for being a good RUclipsr wis your videos repeatedly showed up in my feed more than some of the shit i get
As a fan of Vasco da Gama, I can say that 777 doesn't know crap about football and doesn't care about the fans in general. We urged our Gigante to be bought because we got tired of Série B and wanted to bring back our glorious days. But we are still living the nightmare and with the risk of being relegated again. With Vasco I can't have a single day of peace.
take a shot every time he says 777
Que audácia falar do gigante (brincadeira), vídeo muito bom.
I remember when my club was sold to those bastards had a feeling that something may not go well, now, I honestly even miss the old mess, the mess my club was in the last 20 years
the last thing i expected was you talking about Vasco
as a Vasco supporter the 777 part is kinda alright, they have paid what they owed to now, but the people they appointed to manage the money is a joke. For exemple the Ceo (Luiz Mello) of Vasco is a supporter of the biggest rival flamengo, and the football director (Paulo Bracks) dont have any attitude to do something after a disaster occur, like what happened after the loss against goiás. And now the club is without a manager for 17 DAYS in the middle of the championship with the club in the bottom of the league.
i forgor red star bangui existed thankyou for reminding me
In other words, every club they own is probably gonna drop down the divisions within the next few years…
The irony in an Argentine club asking FIFA to punish Vasco for a player that hasn’t been paid off when there’s clubs in Argentina that haven’t paid off MULTIPLE players for MULTIPLE clubs
Atlético Tucuman are one of the best run clubs in argentina and they have been pretty much debtless for over a year or two, so I think they do have the right to ask for the money from a player they sold. Even when they're a mid table club in the league as of today they are good with finances. Can't really say that about other clubs though so I see where your comment is coming from
Oh capitalist thinking they could landlord in football when it is always a money sink is hilarious. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
Melbourne City are own by the City Football Group, Melbourne Victory are owned by 777 Partners
Your channel is a banger. Love the content
