Tbh City had made great strides under Pep. Before Pep, getting to the Quarter finals is the dream come true. Under Pep, we have slowly become a mainstay in the semi-final and a favorite in the competition and had even made the finals one time. UCL as a competition is very different to the League. Different qualities are needed to win both competitions. League is akin to a marathon while UCL is more of a sprint. In order to win the UCL, you need to win at least 4 games (one game of each knockout stages games) while the league, especially the Premier League, requires a lot more wins. 90 points is the bare mininum needed to challenge for the title. Since less games is needed to win the tournament, the aspect of luck played a bigger role than in League. A good example is last season, compare City and Liverpool. City had to face Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the QF and SF respectively while Liverpool only need to face Benefica and Villareal. If you think that this isnt significant, City actually had to face liverpool 2 times ( league and fa cup) and Atletico Madrid 2 times (QF legs) in a 2 week period, and then face Real Madrid, a CL legacy club. by that point City are exhausted and bruised. City just need that little bit of luck to get to the final again. Plus, they no longer have Raheem Sterling to mess things up like in the game vs Lyon and Chelsea. Im blaming Sterling for lost against Chelsea because he probably begged for Pep to start him in the final despite not starting in any of the QF and SF. heck, City had to play without a CDM just to accomodate Sterling.

Hey Maxwell! This is a great video and an absolutely wonderful watch-especially after the 2023 Champions League Final. I know you joked about how you were going to get "cooked" after FT in Istanbul, but honestly people who watch the video until the end will know that you actually were 100% correct with everything you said!
You correctly pointed out that City don't have issues with their culture or recruitment and were generally headed in the right direction. Moreover they actually corrected all the deficiencies you pointed out this season. They were more pragmatic defensively (especially away from home), they got the most clinical striker in Europe in Erling Haaland, and Pep stopped overthinking his tactics. This is why even with a pretty tricky route to the final, they won very convincingly.
You shouldn't get cooked brother-in fact you were absolutely cooking yourself!🔥🍳
BTW, congrats to Manchester City! Champions of Europe, you'll finally sing that!

In a way it is extremely sad that this has happened and it's a reason as to why I hope City finally get their hands on the Champions League trophy. Their dominance in English football is unprecedented, even when compared to great teams of the past, such as the Liverpool teams of the 80s and the United teams of the 90s and 00s. They also dominated and sometimes won more trophies than City, but City dominated in a way they never did: 93 points, 98 points, 100 points. They've set all the records, and yet the thing most people will remember them for is not winning a Champions League. If they did that, they could be considered the greatest English side of all time. Greatest club? Maybe not, but as one side, surely it is up there with the greats already.

Watching this video as a Brazilian is almost like travelling back in time... Robinho failing to meet expectations, the hype of Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho failling to defend a corner, Pablo Mari flopping on City, being the best defender in South America and flopping at Arsenal in a span of two years and guys like Jô and Elano completely overshadowed by their peers.
Great Vid, I was surprised that you didn't mention Marlos Moreno in the list of youth flops... The Colombian youth was loaned to Flamengo in 18 and managed to score once in 26 appearances, not a great number for a forward.
