Sampdoria genuinely sadden me, because it’d be such an avoidable collapse if these clubs learned from the mistakes of their fallen Italian brethren from years past. Great video as always!
Imagine if this happened to a well known club, like Real Madrid or Liverpool. Imagine your club diving itself to the ground. We need owners who are actually passionate about the game.
I found it astonishing that Cremonense went basically half the season winless And Sampdoria were below them in the table Never knew that the Italian remake of Only Fools and Horses was going on in the background.
Something funny about Cremonese's season is that, before they could even win one Serie A match, they managed to get to the semi-finals of Coppa Italia by knocking out Napoli and Roma. It felt so surreal that they eliminated *Napoli* while bottom of the league, and they were even having a chance of getting to a European competition while being relegated
@@Human_traain Yeah, feels weird how Napoli had to abandon the dream of winning a Trebld not because of the championship (they were Top of Serie A for the whole year), not because of the Champions League (they had a good run), but because the team at the bottom of Serie A knocked them out of the Coppa Italia in the Round of 16
Sampdoria fan here from 1996. I've seen two relegations, three different presidents, multiple good players, but I've rarely felt this grim. It's like a relative of yours is about to die and you're just waiting. You know nothing can change. Totally agree about the lack of transparency in Italian football. This is what happened with Parma already in 2015, but I found that the Gialloblu had a stranger and grotesque process. Everyone could see this coming already last Summer, when no one was showing up at the door to buy the club. Vialli and Barnaba tried, but Ferrero keeps asking more money than the pitched deals. And now his daughter is holding most of the shares, so Ferrero's family can still control the situation despite Massimo Ferrero being out of the picture. It's embarassing, and a good example of why Italy struggles (not only) in football.
Fellow Doria fan here, if Luca (RIP) was able to buy the club, we'd be in a much better place, like mid-table better at least. Instead, we're out of money, in danger of going the way of Parma, and the Rossoblu are running their mouths like they finally won their 10th scudetto.

The season during which Sampdoria was relegated after failing UCL playoff was 2010-11 and it was my first season as a true football fan. I remember they sold Giampaolo Pazzini to Inter and Antonio Cassano to Milan in January and after doing so they fell terribly.
Yeah, that is a reason why teams who might struggle with relegation now think about it twice before selling their best players in the middle of the season. If you can go from 4th place to *relegation* in half a season just by selling your strikers, imagine what could happen

I'm a Sampdoria fan and want to thank you for the video. Just a couple of comments: 1. Ferrero didn't really acquire Sampdoria, it was given to him for free; 2. As far as I know, he didn't take on any debt. The previous owner recapitalized Sampdoria before giving it to Ferrero and also covered the team's losses for the following two seasons.
I'm from Genova and I've been a Sampdoria fan for all my life. I grew up wearing blucerchiato, and I love this club as a person. It's horrible to see what they're doing to us, and everyone is at fault: Garrone sold the club to a criminal, Ferrero is a total idiot, the Italian Football Association never did anything to help us, even when Ferrero was arrested. We have some of the most passionate fans in Italy, we show up every time in numbers, and we're completely left alone. If we can't save the club, I'd rather restart from the fourth division, but with a healthy club and dedicated owners.
I hope not from the 4th division I'd be devastated. Why can't Garrone buy the club back for 40m, He sold for 90m, right? And there are partners. I've supported Samp from the UK for nearly 27yrs and always will.

Do you think you could make a video about Fortuna Düsseldorf and their plan to make home games free of charge for stadium-goers and what you think of that idea
My only soccer liking friend asked me once "Redd, why don't you like any teams from italy?" And i always said that I'm not in the mood to be attacked or harassed for being queer or mixed, and i don't like the rampent racism in italian football. But the corruption and financial instability? Thats a new reason, why like a team when i dont even know if they'll exist it five or so years? I wanna like italian football, really, i do. But they make it really hard to
As James Richardson once said, way back when they were on the way to the first of their last two relegations: 'from a trophy to atrophy.' That seems to be what they've done this time again. I thought Genoa last season were one of the worst sides I'd ever seen. Till they got it together in the last third, by which time it was too late. Samp this season do at least look like a team and do try, but they just seem to be so incredibly average.
Surely have to be lecister, even if this was a big downfall for Sampdoria, falling off from 2015/16 season as champions is just heartbreaking.. I really like lecister too and I wish them to comeback to upper half or if the football gods are merciful back to winning trophies and glory days.

1:04 getting the fascist bashing in early, you love to see it .
Your videos always bang
For the algorithm, lets get it into the trends!
Maqwell looking good in rossoneri. Sad that all this is happening to sampdoria, that ferrero is nothing but a clown its like he is doing all this to make sampdoria disappear
I think you should do a video essay on celtics rebuild under big ange
Amazing video, fortunately Andrea Radrizzani bought the club and Sampdoria still exists!
Maxwell could you talk about the fall of Wacker Innsbruck
Hey Maqwell!
Yet another maqwell banger
I need maqwell and expressions in a room together, with don Robbie
Samp have just been relegated (mathematically) to Serie B just now. Let's hope it's only to Serie B and we get new owners.
They'll end up like Palermo, who at least are back in serie b... and many many former serie A sides currently competing in serie c and d
Finalmente ce ne siamo liberati. Forza Doria
💙🤍❤️🖤🤍💙
Can u make a video about Partizan Belgrade downfall
Love the shirt bro😍
Yooo the Milan shirt
Chelsea this season is the British version of Sampdoria
Great shirt Maxwell
Super excited for the Chinese football video essay
That clips of the flares near the end rattles me differently. When can we admit that launching the likes of flares onto the pitch is pathetic at best
Could you please talk about the Relegation battle in the Bundesliga? Because i think its not getting the Attention it deserves
I like the flags in those league tables. reminds me of old pes
Do you think you could make a video about Fortuna Düsseldorf and their plan to make home games free of charge for stadium-goers and what you think of that idea
Sampdoria's owners look like some Miami Vice bad guys
Sampdoria have now officially relegated to Serie B after the latest loss vs Udinese (2-0). RIP Doria
And there he goes!
please make video about fiorentina!!!
But they make it really hard to
NOOOOO Maqwell got the Milan shirt before the Derby
As James Richardson once said, way back when they were on the way to the first of their last two relegations: 'from a trophy to atrophy.' That seems to be what they've done this time again. I thought Genoa last season were one of the worst sides I'd ever seen. Till they got it together in the last third, by which time it was too late. Samp this season do at least look like a team and do try, but they just seem to be so incredibly average.
me at my sister's wedding: 🙍🏻
me at Sampdoria's downfall: 🤵🏻♂️
Fozza napolo
Which downfall is worse Leicester, Everton or Sampdoria 🤔
Surely have to be lecister, even if this was a big downfall for Sampdoria, falling off from 2015/16 season as champions is just heartbreaking.. I really like lecister too and I wish them to comeback to upper half or if the football gods are merciful back to winning trophies and glory days.
sampdoria is way bigger than Leicester and Everton, they even played a ucl final
Isn't everton on the brink of bankcruptcy?
Forza Sampdoria!!
Please do one on Valencia
Can you do a video on Mike piazza ownership. As a Mets fan he was 1 of favorite players especially after 9/11 he help lift the city's spirit. But since he retired🤡 I get why they say don't idolize people.
