Not only is Chuck Heston my favourite actor of all time not only is Ben Hur my favourite film of all time but Ben Hur is the greatest film and the most important film in the history of cinema 💯❤

You , the Unique, the best performance of the Parade of Charothiers out of screen, you make the miracle to remembances from the movie ... and feel anyone to revive, seeing it...the magnificence of that moment in the Antique Rome
If you want to see real Gladiators: They still exists (in Pula, Croatia for example) and fights against other gladiator schools in Europe.
They are real, no costumes but real heavy iron armor and weapons, the only different to the ancient rome is that the weapons are not lethal. Just take a look in the net.

This is truly wonderous. A majestic tune requires a collosal orchestra. Miklós Rózsa would have been proud.

It is nice to hear these notes with more sonic spaciousness than I am used to hearing in the old mono hi-fi soundtrack for the film, which really compacted the sound.

I was in my high school band in the 70s, and we played this at a "concert in the park". The location was Godwin Park in the Meyerland section on Houston. We were the Westbury High School band, and the director was Leslie Munson.
Oh wow! I'm in highschool now and this is what I'm learning to play, was assigned it today for my instrumental assessment. Its so cool to see this style of music transcend between generations. I may be young, but I certainly have an appreciation for this type of music.

The author, who is known for nearly a hundred film scores, but who has always been devoted to classical music, received the Academy of Film Arts and Film Studies award for the music of Hitchcock's Enchanted (1946), George Cukor's Double Life (1948), and Sam Zimbalist's Ben-Hur.

I first "discovered" the music of Miklos Rozsa in 1974; since then he has been my very favorite composer, and his music is a very important part of my life. It has, however, made me extremely fussy when it comes to performances of that music under batons other than his, and with orchestras that are not of the quality it takes to do the music justice.
That having been said, this is an utterly superb performance of "The Parade of the Charioteers" from "Ben-Hur" -- vigorous, spirited and worthy -- under Maestro Rieu, perhaps the best I've ever heard, outside that on the film's original soundtrack.

As a child, I saw the movie when it was released in a movie theater. Of course I had to own the soundtrack. I wore out the LP!
Powerful music from one of the greatest motion pictures ever. The soundtrack by Miklos Roza will go down in cinematic history as one of the best soundtracks ever.
We played that in my band concert (Henderson High School, NC) about 1960 and I had the privilege of opening it with, of all things, a BULLWHIP. As far as I know, no one else has ever done that.
