It's styling is classic not conservative or "boring".

This car looks great in black, white and metallic colours. I like this GT, it offers fast acceleration, great fuel economy and is very quiet. Also good ride quality with sporty handling and lots of space unlike the Mercedes A class
Bad camera work. The cameraman seemed un bothered to film any of the car angels or interior or boot. Sorry son but your fired (I would have said if I owned the company)

poor camera work. it'll be better if when he was referring to something like when he's folding the back seat down, have the camera point into the trunk or the side of the rear with the rear car door open. or when he was talking about the center console, have the camera point at it like you did when he was touching the screen.

completely agree mate, can never find a decent and honest car review these days. biggest scam with new cars are the reviews by bias journalists.
Haven't seen a single review with the standard small engine suspension set up. They all review the more expensive multi link set up.
because the dsg doesn't have any problems. the transmission has nothing to do with golfs and this is a new car that is not even on the road and if you can drive a car you wouldn't buy an automatic in the first place, except if you are disabled. so why, oh why would you like to make every believe that the car is somehow bad? please, fan boy, tell me what is your problem? do you get paid for this or is it just fun to make a little propaganda? does that make you feel important once in a lifetime?

Ok, then you probably also know that VW have problems with their doors? They won't stay water-thight so in the end you will get water on the floor because the quality of the plastic chosen to be used in the door is not up to the quality required. There is a big difference between real quality and marketing quality.
Evolutionary in styling yes looks like the old ones yes but it looks better and more modern they do it every time.
if matt would've done the same bit, everyone would just be "hahahehe matt"...i mean yeah, matt's cool and everything but give the guy props for doing an ok review, i believe. maybe more downs wouldn't have hurt, but overall i think it's a good review, and not at all as boring as some of you say it is.
Whats with the mpg ratings in the UK? The EPA ratings here in the USA updated a couple years ago and provide really realistic mpg ratings so that the consumer knows what to expect when they buy. It seems like the UK ratings should be cut in half all the time to be realistic...?
Buy golf 7 ,get personal number plate that says (Glf-VII) or somthing like that so all the Golf 6 owners can see you have the new one..

MQB is mainly just marketing but feel free to make up your own mind. Road noise is always a thing that has to be tested on rough surfaces so time will tell but if history has something to tell us this Golf will not be without a lot of noise from the tires?
Where does the name golf comes from? Were they playing golf while coming up with the name back in the 70s or thought about a car which boot is big enough for golf bags? I mean the first golf was VW Up size.

Golf is the single reason VW now owns Audi, Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Skoda, SEAT, Ducati, MAN and Scania. They probably own or control many more. Well done.
I hate when they roll out a new car once per 3-4 years now. It's so irritating. And they are no longer solid vehicles, but pieces of junk, mostly of pretty poor quality
Why does every single review about this car start with how many years Golf has been around, how many it has sold. And then pass over to the dimensions and weight?
Too bad no reviewer ever states the terrible VW group reliability ratings. I would say reliability is in the top 3 factors when considering a new car.
I'm getting ready to retire and would love to buy this car with a manual transmission but not until vw reliability ratings improve. Otherwise, it's everything a car should be .
Trouble is Mark you only hear of bad stories with cars, never the good stories..........people with reliable cars never report it.

Mine has this rattle when idle. Only when idling in neutral but it is very noticeable. Hope that shit is normal.

there are more car buyers of Golfs than there are of Aston Martins so it would be more suitable to have a longer review for the Golf

All cars always had rubber between the door and the frame. But the door itself is built solidly, with the compartments inside that don't rattle. Look at a review of a Prius, and hear the huge rattle it makes when the guy closes the door

Almost every car has same thump sound nowadays because it is very easy and cheap to achieve. Some rubber on the door and the frame. :D
you my friend are right...prices start from 26000 euros in where i live...for a vw.....if you whant a cheap vw buy a seat or a skoda.....but for a vw thats deep....plus the vw's for some years are bild just to make a profit out of them...nothing more....to bad.
@A Stefanov ok, so what do you think of cc and passat facelift after just few years of being around? I am talking of a general trend, which becomes more and more common: Audi facelifts in 3 years for ex. and so on. Hope you get my point

the mk 6 is really a facelift of the mk 5 so it's been nearly 10 years since we've had a new golf- no 3-4, the mk 5 was released in 2004, by the time the mk 7 starts deliveries it'll be spring 2013.

I've never been a fan of golf, more i liked giulietta, leon, bmw 1, but now for the first time golf is my favorite among hatches. perfect quality,refined, sporty look and best looking interior in the class.

in a nutshell, GOLF 7 is another planet compared to GOLF 6. It tells one that he bought golf 6 and now has bought GOLF 7
theres a 2litre version of the golf before this one and it was so heavy on fuel,hope the 2litre in this model isnt the same

As far as I know, only the older Beetle and Polo models have had problems with their doors, and the problem was that the door handles came off if you pulled hard. They are perfectly water tight.
Yes i liked the review actually, very accurate, good details, precise, fitting to a Golf. Was not so inspiring and perhaps lacking something about the drive, but again thats what they all do more or less.

The touchscreen is abasic equipment to all models. It's standard and oesn't cost extra

The GTI will be 2.0 TSI 221hp as our dealer informed so almost 10hp more than the previous version
at that weight you should seat in the horse trailer in the back of the golf otherwise you might confuse the steering wheel with a donut
I really hope we get the 140hp 1.4 with cylinder deactivation. I would certainly pay 25k for a top spec with that motor. It should hit 45mpg easily.
