  • In this video I make a popper lure specifically for fishing the Florida flats and I add a little something extra to call the fish.

    Thanks Franco,
    The idea of a simple rattler made by a straw is excellent, I learned it thanks to you. It fails sometime in a resin casted lure, it happens often, at list to me, that it doesn't work, the sphere, probabbly cause the straw soft plastic, it doesn't move. Only in cast resin lures I use a rigid straw made in brass.
    Thanks 🙏 so much for your excellent job, you nail it again!

      I haven't that issue with the plastic straws I use.

    • @lannabulls
      @lannabulls Месяц назад

      I anderstood why, sometime, the straw it doesn't work, once resin is casted, I use to put my mold inside a pressure pot. I suspect that, cause the pressure, air pump in, the straw that is not completely rigid sometime is "crashed", steel balls are not allowed to move. When I don't use the pressure pot straw is working always fine

    Hey, remember those old sticker dart guns? The were a spring, a catch and a plunger-shaped "dart" with a shaft and suction cup. So what if you had a spring-loaded popper face? When you popped it the front cup would compress the spring. Then the cup would spring back and kind of double-pop the lure.

    I do the opposite after watching Matt Stephen talk about his poppers so I have been weighting the tails and tying hair on the back hook so it sits more vertically and it amazes me that sometimes the fish will come up and grab the tail hook and pull it under like a bobber. I can fish about 10 minutes per cast now without all the long pauses. It'll pop and move about 3 to 6 inches if you want to fish slow

    Thought of a video that others might like.How deep should a wire harness be inside a bait before its rips out? Have a couple baits with harnesses at diffrent depths. Have a force gauge tied to a hook hanger and rip them out.

    i tried brushing on Polycrylic on top of airbrush paint. You will need to make sure the paint is thoroughly dry and use a soft brush. A stiff brush could rub the paint on. It seems spraying on would be better. I need to try it.

    Why not use a metal tube for the rattle chamber? It might be cool to put an empty shell case from a rifle in there for the chamber, and you'd only need to close one end.

    Hi Franco, another sweet build! I have a question for you, i was making a new mold the other day and i forgot to divot the clay so i did not have a key to align the 2 halves. Of course i figured this other when preparing for the 2nd half. How would you address that situation? What i did in the end was only vaseline 1/2 the mold, but I'm not sure i'm happy with it as its difficult to get the internals properly positioned. But i just made a handful of harnesses so we'll see if i can learn to live with it.

    • @EngineeredAngler
      @EngineeredAngler  2 месяца назад

      I had included this in a video a while back...I created divots using a thin tube with the edge sharpened by digging out little cylinders in the face of the first half of the mold. You can use the eraser end of a pencil by taking out the eraser. Good question. Thank you.
