Orthodoxy and Saint Athanasius gave us the Bible. Of course through the grace and guidance of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ❤

There is an increasingly popular view that the Revelation was written before the fall of Jerusalem. The patristic references placing it in the 90s seem to be referring to its later distribution or perhaps redaction (see notes in the "Eastern/Greek Orthodox Bible" 2013). I'd be curious to find out what Fr. Stephen makes of that hypothesis 🤓

I'm at 35:02 and loving it so far. It seems like ancient Christians had varying traditions (little T) that yield slightly different canons that all participated in Holy Tradition (big T) all pointing to Christ...then the Western ideology attacked (Avatar last air Bender reference).

1:47:26 The New Testament does say you have to believe in the Trinity to be a Christian, but not explicitly. As a Protestant, I don't have a particular issue with the Councils, but I do believe my initial sentence in this comment. Jesus says He & the Father are One. Jesus also says He will send his Spirit, after him. There are the three persons. To be saved, one must believe in Jesus, his death, burial & resurrection. How might one claim such a belief, while also believing Jesus lied about his relationship to the Father & the Spirit? It says it, but it says it implicitly.

Wouldn't it be better to say that the Orthodox Church is not JUST a text-centered church, rather than saying it has never been text-centered?

I would challenge you on Flat earth... actually we were only taught the heliocentric model from the cradle up and it is WESTERN. The Jesuits own all the telescopes and they started NASA (whose images are mostly computer animated). If you dig into the rabbit holes... you will discover that if we had been given both side to learn in school and use our brains... the Geo-centric model actually makes more sense logically. The medievals were obsessed with "keeping appearances" and it makes me aske how much the Western Catholic church wanted to keep appearances and make science align with their obsession for logic. I beg you to dig. There are a lot of compelling arguments for flat earth that are quite worth investigating. I for one, would love to know which fathers agreed with the Geo-centric flat-earth model. Take one small interesting anecdote. Wernher von Braun was an aerospace engineer who contributed to building up NASA. I think he left a clue to reveal their deception on his grave stone. In this life he may have been sworn to secrecy, but on his grave stone he put Psalm 19:1 “(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

Dr. Steven Young is an Orthodox Christian Priest. Orthodoxy is nothing like Roman Catholicism.
