I often found 300m + 150m (or even 120m) o0ff 30 seconds worked a charm. Granted that was when I was running 400m (PR 46.53). When I switched to the 800m, I often did broken 800's. Either 600+200 off 30 seconds (maybe 60), 500+300 (the hardest way to do it) or 400+200+200. Occasionally I did it with 200+400+200 which was also awful. All worked brilliantly though, equated to a 1:46.09 PR.
