that fishing the bulkhead fitting through the barrel is GENIUS Simple! I have always avoided the blue barrel because I couldn't figure out how to work the inside piece, you just saved me a fortune! Thanks!!!
ive learnt that today
OK, just seconds in and this guy is awesome! that workbench on a cart is the coolest thing I have ever seen!
That is genius with the bulkhead fitting and string. Never would have thought of that!
Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate your time.
I like your portable work bench.
Noticed that. Want one ;)
Wonder if he videotaped that build.
You should add a pvc union between each rain barrel. Then you will be able to separate the barrels for cleaning or in a cold climate to be able to store the barrels upside down for winter.
lots of useful knowledge here. great teacher. Socks with Crocs, love the mobile workbench.
This idea of the water barrels is absolutely the coolest thing I've ever seen. You da man!
Wow!!Great ideas with the bulkhead fittings!!! Thanks!!!
Excellent video, with you all the way. two recommendations, white sox, and Bronchaid. Your math and tool knowledge is Superior. 👍👍💛🐣
Pretty clever way of getting black head connector installed. Thanks for sharing.
I absolutely love the mobile work cart/table! That's on my list of must haves now. Great idea to manage outdoor projects.
Thanks for watching. It is pretty handy! Just make sure your wheels are inflated or she’ll be a little tipsy. 😀
@@LancoAmish 🥴
dude you are a life saver!!!!!! I had my rain barrels for years and I never plug the thread in like that. I just use plumbers tape and the spigot. now im ready to update mine next weekend!!!
Instantly subscribed, you're a genius. I am African, all I needed is you sir, my water problems are all solved. Thank you so much. But I want to see the finished project.
Thanks for showing the details and "tricks" on how you set this up. Many just show the final set up wo showing much details of how they constructed it.
That string trick is just what I needed !!
Watched many videos on rain barrel set-up yours was down to earth and very easy to follow I changed set up a little used 3/4 in adapter to1/2in just pushed pipe together without glueing so I can take it apart used Teflon tape on pieces not leaking THANK YOU so much love your cart
Best video I’ve seen on this topic. Thank you it really helped me.
So clever with the string!
Keep up the great work Chuck!
Also why both purple and blue glue? I don't know much about plumbing
DM Cory , the purple is a primer/cleaner. The blue was glue.
Nice job! I've just bought my rainbarrels and this is how I'll try them.
Good luck and thanks so much for watching.
Very clear and concise instructions and very ingenious technique used .
Thank you so much for watching and the kind comment.
I came here to watch how you did your rain barrel setup and ended up really liking you portable work bench and making one for myself also. 😃
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you found the other video helpful. 😀
Love your attention to detail. The parts list is a wonderful help. Your water system is practical and attractive.
Thank you so much for watching and kindly commenting.
Attention to detail?? You mean like putting teflon tape on backwards…that attention to detail?
Isn't it in the tape direction the same as what is screwed on? So the bulkhead fittings' section is supposed to be, as he did, opposite the norm, since it attaches backward from normal.
Hey, Chuck. I love the video. You set the bar for giving excellent voice, video, everything. I think I'd try and build anything you make, it's so clear, and not a bunch of useless rambling. Really, I'm a big fan. I wish I was your neighbor.
Thank you so much for watching and the kind comment. Both are so much appreciated!
FC from NJ. Your an awesome man amazing as the same times!
First saw the workbench on the cart was wow and the fishing was omg. Thank you for saving future headaches.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a kind comment! I greatly appreciate both.
Great setup you have there! I'm from Johannesburg( South Africa ) we have had water shortages for the past 2 year due to failing infrastructure i was looking for barrels on google and somehow I got to this video, genius way of getting that fitting through that hole , I will most definitely make use of the video
Thank you
Cool workbench and tool cart 😎
Thank you so much for excellent information and a wonderful tutorial!!
Nice system. Great how to video.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
This was brilliant! Thank you sir. You have a subscriber for life.
Very helpful. Really makes the job easy..
Love your rolling workbench!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Great video. And the bulkhead fitting fishing was was a great lesson to learn. I am about to build my rain catch and i thank you for sharing that trick of the trade. Pump pliers aka adjustable (slip joint) pliers have directional teeth and if you will turn them around you will have better bite and less slippage. Thank you again for sharing and really outstanding job.
Thanks for watching and the tip. Both appreciated.
hello, I installed a similar system, but instead of connecting by a plumbing system with the costs involved, I use a syphon system from one barrel to the next barrel. It does work, I found it out on RUclips, not having any holes ensures no leaks and it is very easy to increase capacity with an extra barrel and you can very easily remove a barrel for cleaning. Try it with 2 pop bottle and some plastic pipe, move the bottles up and down and see what happens.
That is the way we do it.
A length of hose. Fill it with water and stick each end into a couple of barrels, where there is enough water to cover the inlet in each tube.
The only engineering I have done is some 3D printed bits to hold the hose on the barrel to prevent it from folding in on itself.
I keep debating which method to use and it seems like over the top is better since there is zero chances of leaks except at the one spiggot.
Thank you for documenting and sharing this procedure, and your wealth of knowledge on it. Now, about that mobile work bench.... can I see more on that? I've been needing to build one for my table saw and miter saw (probably two separate ones).
Oh, I forgot to say thanks for the string idea. I would have taken hours/days to figure that out.
🙂
Best rainwater system walk through I’ve seen so far! Would love a parts list.
Best one I;ve seen to!
Agreed. There is a parts list in the area below his channel name.
Love your worktable, too.
Thanks so much for watching!
Bright Idea my friend, Thanks
Thanks a lot for the video. So easy. Wowwww!!!
Thanks for the string trick! If you turn the Teflon tape around as you unwind it from the spool it will remain tight giving you more control as well.
Thanks for watching and the suggestion. I’m very challenged when it comes to visualizing things.
Excellent! Strong tip is the best!
THIS is EXACTLY the video I needed to see. Was wondering how I'd get one of those bulkhead fittings on. THANK YOU!!
You can order off Amazon or directly from many other companies.
Very simple and good job big bro...
I love this channel. Thank you for this video my friend .
Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
SMART string work!
Well done! Thanks for the video!
Great job! Thanks for sharing!
Outstanding information!
Great video very well explained thanks for sharing 🙏🏽😃
Thank you very much for watching.
Wow great idea thanks for sharing
Liked and subscribed based on this video alone.. Well done! 🤘
Very cool! My husband and I are from nw Colorado (East Slope). We both grew up in the mountains here and have finally found our little dream farm nestled up against the foothills. So excited to get all my garden areas going, heirloom seeds planted and everything set up like we've planned.
We are extremely fortunate to own the native water units that are on the property... I still have always wanted to set up a rainwater collection system so I'm going to do that too.
I really like what you've done with this particular system very much, so it's the one I've chosen to put together for us.
Hey, thank you for sharing this and all your other videos.. 👍 I subscribed and will be making my way through all of them. It's all useful and so important, especially in these times of major food supply chain interruptions, which people should know about (please research it) the food shortages and water wars were planned decades ago and are being methodically orchestrated as I write this ...
Worsening water wars are here now- folks/farmers straight up being denied water by the 👺 corrupt state and federal Water Boards turning their supply off.
Making sure you have water that no one can just switch off as well as being able to grow enough of your own *non* GMO leaden food- to provide for your family in the years to come will save lives...
💠 Good luck to you and yours... Stay safe!
Thanks so much for watching. Good luck on your journey!!
Thank you for educating me.
Thanks for watching!
I like your roll around table
Using the T on the first barrel could come in really handy for cleaning it. You could unscrew an end cap, then you'd have a tube you could shove a brush in. Clean it like the barrel of a gun.
But never the less good work, and thank you
Really good tutorial
Great video. Thanks 🙏🏼
Great job brother
Very clean work
Thanks so much for watching.
good job my friend!!!
Great video. I would maybe suggest unions between the barrels for servicing in the future also.
Dude, best thing about this video is the rolling workbench. Haha, keep on rocking!
🤣🤣
Like that string technique!
Very well explained and videoed and I thank you .
Thank you for watching! I’m glad the video was helpful.
You are the first to say that the bung will flatten the curve of the barrel I kinda thought that was what they're doing
Great instructions, thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Very helpful. Thank you
Hmmm.....good video.....had my maid buy all the parts for me at home depot and she assembled by watching your video....
🤣🤣
Thank you for the video it was what i was looking for 👍
Thanks for watching. Glad it could be of help!
Great job well done. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Nice setup

helped me so much thanks
thanks for valuable ideas.
Thank you so much for watching. I’m glad the video was of use.
Great info. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching!
Now i know how it work , thank you
Great info!
Good job
Very well done
Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
Thank you for this.
looks great
Very inspiring
Nice video!!
Thanks for watching!
I would have used a core drill bit. In your case you should drill a pilot hold then use the spade bit. Very hot water and some dish soak would be a good way to get rid of the stickyness.
Like the work bench
Thanks!
I think you forgot to list the piece that goes into the bulkhead. Correct? You need 5 of those, I don't see those on your description
Very good video. I got my barrels and will do the same. Except, for tying it to the wall. I am in California earthquake country. The weight of these barrels full will be over a ton and will take the wall with it during the shakes. They should be independently secured.
Thanks for watching. No earthquakes here. 😃
Thank you for your share
Good project 👍 Not to be critical but if it was me, I'd leave just a lil more room between the barrels. They could swell out enough when they are full to put undue stress on the PVC and possibly pull apart. Other than that good job! I plan on building one virtually identical as yours. Thanks.
kevin brown , thanks for watching. Good point. I had thought about going with short pieces of hose between the barrels with a little slack but decided to go with the pvc. Time will tell. It’ll be hooked up in a couple of weeks.
No they wont
Good video. More helpful if you specifically mentioned the name of each item while
making the video
well done
Sir thank very much vedio very helpful
Thank you for watching!! Greatly appreciated.
Thanks for sharing need to do something similar, very timely!
Thank you for watching!
I have these water barrels with 90s to vertical ball valves on each tank. I can isolate or control each barrel through "Ts" on bottom of verticals too long horizontal discharge line, like yours. At end of discharge glued another ball valve for water supply.
Thanks for watching and describing your setup.
You can put clear silicon on the treads, it wont leak even if it is loose.
If you can include a clear section of pipe so you can make sure that the water is flowing like it should. I have multiple IBC totes linked and I have some clear PVC sections and it is sure nice to be able to watch the water pour around in a big storm. Don't forget to paint your barrels black to prevent algae build-up.
How does painting them black prevent algae? Getting some white barrels delivered to build a system like this, so now you have me wondering if I need to paint them or something.
@@OldeManGrim Most IBC totes (always use FOOD GRADE totes to store water) are translucent. Water that sits around, especially rainwater, will develop algae in the presence of sunlight. Painting them black or wrapping them in black plastic prevents the presence of sunlight. If your barrels are translucent white then yes you would want to paint them. You can paint them whatever color you want if you want to blend them into your house for instance. Make sure to set the barrels on a raised platform so you can use gravity to flow the water out for use. A barrel typically holds about 55 gallons wheras a tote hold 350 or so. totes can be bought on craigstlist for less than $100 each. Make sure to have a ballcock valve installed inline so you can drain the barrels if needed. I have 10 tanks (2 rows of 5 each) interlinked so that as one fills it overflows into the next one. You would be surprised how fast the rain will fill them up. I water my yard with it.
@@thelostarchivesserialvault5353 appreciate your input. How are your drums situated, upside down or like his in this video? I am trying to not pierce the bodies of my tank (other than one for overspill). Hard locating a video explaining the parts to do so. Would love anything you got for me. Cheers!
I really need to do this as we have to pay for town water. Watering grass/garden gets pricey.
Nice .. Basic trick but a useful tips.. But I prefer to use flexible hose instead of pvc..
