The fact that he actually discussed and numbered his “kill count” tells me everything I need to know about him as a person. My brother was military, my ex husband was military, family members and friends are military. I live surrounded by military people. Eglin, Hurlbert, Duke, Tyndall, Whiting Field and Pensacola NAS. Military personnel everywhere and at every function I’ve ever attended. Never have I heard of anyone even wanting to discuss this.

Imagine if they actually focused on Harry as he could create the ultimate content of parodies. Have to appreciate and respect that South Park didn’t really twist much, most of what they demonstrated is fact. The whole thing is absurd that South Park didn’t have to be crass, they just showed exactly how tacky both of the Harkles are!

It's been said in the past that Diana was having Harry getting a behaviour therapist & there was talk of finding a 'suitable' school for him.... however all of that fell apart after her death. Gordonston would have been perfect for him, but I suspect after Charles' experience of the place, he decided to 'protect' Harry. As for Diana, did she have problems - definitely but she wasn't Evil... its easy to blame a dead person..

@@mareandickson3058 Gordonston would have been torture for Harry. Some of these institutions need to be abolished for child cruelty. Not 'blaming' a dead person - just addressing the "Spencer Gene'.
I do think Charles was protective of Harry - knowing he had issues, which is why Harry's behaviour is so painful. William was Diana's 'Golden Boy" & Harry often left in the nursery with his Nanny.

Eton focused too much on academic subjects whereas Gordonston are more rounded with loads of outdoor pursuits which would have burnt off a lot of Harry's energy & he'd certainly have left school at least knowing who he is & what he is capable of.... Eton just let him play into the narrative of class clown - any school at that level would have advised the parents they were wasting money sending him there..

I think I can speak to the military issues mentioned:
I was deployed twice as a combat Medic, so I had front row seat to the worst of humanity on a daily basis. When I came home, EVERYONE noticed a difference in me that they couldn't explain, even though I felt like the exact same person as before.
The only time we are prevented from discussing kill counts is if the action involved a national security directive. Soldiers talk about it all the time but only with other soldiers. Civilians simply do not understand.

British soldiers around the world did NOT take pics of themselves covering their bits. The reason for this is because even on leave soldiers are still on duty, they still represent the British government and the Monarch. By doing what he did he was contravening a ruling in the Manual of Military Law. The ruling applying to behaviour contrary and prejudicial to good order and discipline. They would have been carpeted on their return to barracks. As Harry was carpeted on HIS return. Yes he disgraced himself in the eyes of the military
ALL weapons including Browning 9mm Pistols are packed up and carried in the hold. So no he wouldn't have had his pistol on the plane.
Also it was the foreign press who told everyone that Harry was in Afghanistan, not the British press.
Nobody in the British military refers to air con. He was lucky he even had a tiny fan. I certainly didn't.

I’m so glad you said that about British soldiers not taking pics of themselves covering their bits. It’s just not true, as is so much of this chapter where he is such a hero, so good at his job, so good at killing people. So now, during his ‘live therapy sessions’ he’s said that he and many other soldiers he was with didn’t agree with the war and that a lot of the British public didn’t agree with it. So much for his concern regarding the feelings of veterans, to say they were often wounded for nothing

  • @jacquelinekirk5601

Thank you for wading through this chapter, Cheere, you made it bearable. Reading between the lines (or lies), I think Harry was reckless and his CO was trying to help him see where his behaviour fell short. That is, of course, if any of it happen at all. This chapter was the last straw for me. All the other complaints were eye rolling BS, but this was sickening. He seemed to be playing at being a soldier and got away with a lot because it’s his Granny’s army. He’s a revolting, boastful loser. It’s written in a way that makes him sound earnest, but no, he was bragging. I’m disgusted that he is a prince of the realm and I wish he wasn’t. He complains about his royal life without any clue about his incredible privilege. It’s sickening. Have you seen Trevor Coult’s channel? He is a decorated veteran, who is scathing and fizzing with fury at “Bunker Harry” He was there and calls him out on a lot of stuff. Very enlightening. BTW Don’t apache helicopter gunners have to be qualified pilots? What was he doing up there let alone new telling everyone how it should be done?

So much of his behaviour and the way he reacts to situations is just what you'd expect from a young teenage boy. Funny how Harry's description of the start of Invictus differs markedly from other reports. Supposedly QEII felt that Harry needed a project so they "gave" him Invictus, as you stated, copied from the Warrior games he'd seen in the US. No written proposal or anything on his part, but he was given an outline of what it would take to get it off the ground. Months later, when Harry had done nothing (surprise), including hiring the help he had been instructed to, the RF hired Sir Keith Mills who had previously run the London Olympics.Technically it was done under the guise of the foundation and included William, Catherine, and Harry, the queen wanted it as "something Harry could do."

The incongruity of Harry's behaviour, now in his late 30s is beyond belief.

The passage about his return to UK, post Afghanistan, is an insight how Meghan has inserted herself into his narrative. He’s always said he didn’t know how miserable he was until he met her. Like she made him see the light of how badly he’d been treated. Here she’s insidiously insinuating that the British government has turned him into a killer, almost a Manchurian candidate, and he doesn’t even know it yet. Everyone sees the change but he doesn’t feel it. I doubt it really happened. Harry lacks the insight to really feel much grief for what he ‘supposedly’ did. It’s no more real to him than a video game. And when he got back he was probably fitter, tanner, and maybe a little more confident in himself. So they likely remarked on how different he looked. And of course Meghan has turned it into something far more sinister than it was.

I agree with you Cheere, I don’t think a “mate” would of said that comment, I agree with you and think Meghan would of said something like that to stir up his emotions.
I also don’t think a normal soldier would be speaking up the way Harry had spoken up about war.
Friends and family members of mine that have ever been in war haven’t spoken about their experiences about it to me let alone so publicly in a book.
I personally feel Harry is talking about other people’s experience’s and claiming them as his own to sound like a brave hero, unfortunately to me he doesn’t sound like a hero, he sounds like a child, I feel Harry would of been under constant protection while he was over there.
I feel that men and woman who have been on the front line would be deeply hurt by everything Harry is saying in this chapter.
I think it is a very stupid move and is putting his entire family all at risk now, even more so with the upcoming Coronation.
I just hope and pray the security surrounding the Coronation is in overload, that the security will be so tight that even a child with a toy water pistol will not even be anywhere near the Royal family.
I keep saying it and will continue to, shame on you Harry, you silly, silly boy, yes, boy, because his clearly not acting like a man and definitely not like a father, his now endangered his own children’s safety from these comments 😢

@karinagoulding8499 where I live, it's HOT with high humidity, so you sweat sometimes without movement. But I'm poor too, but I would say, "Stop running the aircon 24/7. What do you think I got spare money or something?"" We really only need to run it in summer. So, I run the bill up in summer and pay it off the rest of the year. I pay 120/month year round even though at the moment my electricity wouldn't even be $20 a week. Probably $100+ a week in summer.

This chapter shows Harry with no redeemable qualities. With his own & own ghost writer words, he’s showing how even in his military service he was so immature, entitled, clueless and acting like a royal cowboy incapable to grasp the reality of war. It’s like the guy can’t hear himself. So uninspiring, small minded and completely missing out on what could have been a life changing experience. There’s absolutely none of that, in his own words. He also served so little and just the way he described the non events shows how almost artificial the whole experience was for him.

I Wonder how many times the “warning light” flashed for them to return to base actually flashed? The idea that the helicopter was too heavy on take off is ludicrous, they know exactly how much an apache can carry and would never overload it, there are such things as safety margins, overloading a helicopter would be the same as not having a helicopter totally useless, the idea that you overload it so it can’t fly in a war zone shows how dumb he is that he would actually believe it 😂😂😂😂

Harry's view of war, as described in this video, reminds me of what I hear when he mentions his wife and family. I've found it difficult to put into words, but it's as if he's a 15yr old who has somehow become a husband and father and thinks he's moved into the big boys league.
With regard to his arrested development, I don't disagree but I am also inclined to think that Harry was born with a difficulty of some description. He has always been a handful and his own mother had concerns about his behaviour. According to Harry's biographer, Angela Levin, Diana was troubled enough to seek help for her younger son.

I enjoy your commentary, glad to hear that you have plans for the future….I think you are absolutely correct when you refer to him as having arrested development…..my impression is that he is not very intellectual and he is incredibly immature. He doesn’t understand that there are consequences to the things he does but that may be because he never had to deal with those consequences since he had a cleanup squad at the palace. Did he figure out a way to blame the British press or his brother for his behavior in Vegas since they are the culprits in all his misadventures?

He doesn’t appear to absorb much, from his experiences. He is more of a sensory kind of person. He needs to be a bit more reflective, about the impact of his actions on others. It is called “empathy”; an oft overused and misunderstood word, in our current culture. People tend to use the word “empathy” in place of the word “pity”. Self “pity”, and “pity” in general, are self indulgent. Empathy describes the attempt to understand the circumstances which motivate the behaviors of others, by imagining what it might be like to walk in their shoes, in an effort to better understand the context from which they make “said” decisions. It is meant to give us better strategies, for dealing with people, via insight deemed from observation, listening, and critical thought. Feeling sorry for someone, perpetually, is a form of “pity”. Pity implies that some human beings do not inherently possess the same capacities, as other human beings, to cope with life’s challenges, via critical thought and creative problem solving. It is patronizing, self indulgent and unproductive. Harry is a ditz, who belongs in a highly structured environment, in which he is required to participate in physical activity, to the point of exhaustion. The military would actually, be an ideal fit, for a person like this. Certainly not writing. He has no perspective. He is, but a mere vessel, a play thing, of you will. He is very good with kids, however. He loved being in Africa, with children. He loved the outdoors, and the physicality of the environment, and the kids. I don’t think he chose the right woman. She couldn’t give a rip about who he is, as a person. If she did, she would try to bring him together with his family, especially his brother. It would kill her to watch him shoot himself in the foot like this. Instead, she eggs it on, and exploits the most tragic event of his life.

So entertaining the way you relay it. I'm seeing him in whole different light, with regards to his army life. He was given a hero complex, praised by that no called nasty media, when he was mentioned in relation to it. It's obvious while he was away, the Firm decided on what his next course of duties would involve, to save him from himself, and his endless cockups. He got sent to the USA, every day is planned to the letter, perfectly timed, non of this is done by him, your told where your going, who your meeting, what your discussing. He hasnt decided to go The Warrior Games, he was sent there, to discuss with them, how they could do something similar in the UK, he hasnt thought of any of it. He gets to put his name to it, and bathe in the glory if it. To think what the other soldiers who fought alongside him, protecting him, must be thinking, they're the deserving, of his position, as the face of it. He's still basking in it, but it was all given to him, under the Umbrella of the Royal family. The last one, Meghan doing speeches, treating it like a fashion show. When William and Catherine attended in the past, they just wore the branded Invictus logoed tops. I know whu his popularity tanked now, after this book came out.

    Oh!
As regarding the shortening of the words and aircon (air conditioning).
There're 2 different ways to explain it.
    1. To simplify something which is too hard for you to pronounce.
    2. To create a funny nickname easier to remember.
I've studied Japanese as a major and since Japanese language is different from Western languages, they face difficulties in pronouncing foreign words.
So, such things, which were imported at some point to Japan will be written in different alphabet and very often shortened for usefulness.
It drove me nuts sometimes , but you eventually accept it as a part of language.
They have "aircon"😂😂😂 and it does mean "air conditioning".
But it's based on their language.
The same way they have many other abbreviations, like "pasocon" (personal computer), karaoke (empty orchestra, which is combination of Japanese and English words), etc.
