I think he left the Christmas Ornament story in out of spite. He had been to the funeral with Meghan and he did not get the things he wanted. Meghan was not allowed at the Queens deathbed at the Queens request and the family must have been furious with them for delaying the plane. I think Harry and Meghan were also taken out of her will.
So the story was a final dig at his beloved Grandmother, his Queen and Commander in Chief.
I don’t know why this story did not make it into the general press as I think it is the most terrible thing in the whole book. What a disgusting couple these two are. I hope they never return to the UK.

I think 90% of the book was disrespectful to just about everyone mentioned… except for the Duchess of Narcissism, whom he portrays as perfect and the second coming of his mother ( which is often creepy). I also wonder how much of the story was true, how much he invented in his drug addled mind.

Can you imagine how Charles must’ve been feeling while Harry was shouting at him because Meghan couldn’t come. Charles’s mother was dying and he was going to become king, emotions were obviously running high and Harry didn’t help one bit.
He could’ve accepted it and actually asked his dad if he was ok and whether he needed anything.

  • @happysmith6666

Here’s the thing about Charles’ request at the end that M not come: Assuming that’s even true (big ask), Harry needs to cut his far some slack when Charles’ own mother was dying. There was an awful lot on Charles’ shoulders and it’s incredibly bratty of Harry to assume that he was the only person in that situation who was having Big Feelings and struggling with how to deal.

Why on Earth would Harry think Megan needed a moment alone at Diana's grave? She never met her. If I married a person whose parent had passed before I ever met my spouse, I would go visit with my spouse, but I would never feel a need to grieve or pay respects by myself. I would have never met the parent. It would be like taking a private moment in a cemetary for a random, complete stranger. This feels quite disrespectful and, frankly, fake to me.

Peter was her fav coz he is much like his mother. William was the closest to her coz the future of her work and family was in his hands and she had weekly dinner with him since the age of 7 (famously including the night before Harry´s wedding). She and Prince Philip were proper grandparents to Louise and James and got to babysit them and play grandparents coz they came soo late in their lives when they had the time to be grandparents. Why on earth did he think The Queen would want MM anywhere near her in her dying moments after all that had happened. The Queen had spoken to Meghan a handful of times in all up, and I doubt they would have been in-depth conversations. She'd known Kate for at least 10yearsT Harry is as thick as 2 planks. Especially when we now know the entire time, he was dithering around, he did speak to William and his father and was fighting with them over Meghan coming. Thats why he missed the family plane. And then all the underhanded tricks they got up to in the lead up to the funeral. Harry last saw the Queen just before the Invictus Games and the next day he revealed all about the meeting with Gayle King. That's how much he thought of granny and their "special relationship"

  • @CMinorOp67
    @CMinorOp67 Год назад +81

Even with a ghostwriter, I feel that Megan had a HUGE hand in writing this book. It’s penned in such a melodramatic style that it just sounds like her. I mean, look at that children’s book she wrote. It’s amusing how try-hard she comes across. And, tbh, I don’t think Harry could string enough sentences together to make a comprehensible paragraph, let alone a book. The man had to assemble a team to write a simple proposal for the queen…because, if left alone to compose it, it would have read like a Dick and Jane reader.
I feel Harry told stories to Megan. She wrote them out, adding whatever she wanted to…and then it was handed to the ghostwriter. But I feel Megan was the last person to proofread/edit it. I would be stunned if that wasn’t the case. I can’t envision her letting that book go to press without her reading and approving it first.

I’ve commented on this before but I have to defend J.R. Moehringer because I absolutely loved The Tender Bar. As the ghostwriter, Meghan must have put Moehringer through the grinder and made him wish he’d never entered her hellish imaginations. Parts of Spare do read like The Bench, ugh.

Camilla was already up there, Sophie went with Edward because the Queen absolutely adored Sophie, and I don't think Catherine would had wanted to go, the three kids had started school that week and I think she would had wanted to be with them and explain that Gam Gam was gone and what would happen next. So Harry using the 'no wives' reason is a bit hollow imo, if anything William probably pulled rank and forbid her to fly with them, so Harry threw a strope until William was all "We're leaving without you, find your own way up"

To Peter, Zara, Beatrice, Eugenie, James and Louise, the Queen was the granny they had known and loved all their lives. Meghan was a granddaughter-in-law who had known her for 5 minutes, why would Harry think she deserved to be there when her blood grandchildren were not?

Queen Elizabeth was our Queen the whole of my life until September last. She gave the whole of her long life to duty and service to her country, to her people and to the Commonwealth. To my country, to me. I admired, respected and loved her. If Harry had simply stepped down from Public Life and led the quiet life he said he wanted we would have been a little sad perhaps, but - I like to think - we would have quite understood. Instead, with the encouragement of his wife, he lit a fuse on a metaphorical bomb, several metaphorical bombs, and threw them one by one into the palace and walked away.
I decided I would not buy his book and line this traitorous man's pockets, but I paid for my sins as I fretted, when it was published, about what was in it and listened, appalled, as the highlights were talked about everywhere. So, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to you, Cheere Denise, for taking on the arduous task of reading 'Spare'. For the hours of your time you have dedicated to the task. For the wit, humour and charm you lent to the reading of this awful book. For your incisive critiques and, perhaps most of all, for revealing to us the fribble of a prince he was born and the despicable man he has become.

Just prior to this, the Palace discovered that both H & M were secretly audio & visually recording the wider family.
The family sat in a plane for over an hour, waiting for Harry to arrive before taking off. Allegedly Harry was delayed, as Meghan insisted she should be allowed to go. Eventually the rest of the family chose to fly/leave without him. They ultimately didn’t make it in time to see the late Queen in time. Thus, Harry had to hire his own flight.
Harry was invited to dine with Charles & William that night, to try & settle their issues. Harry refused.

I think Harry has built the walls of his life so high that no one can breach them. It feels like a very lonely life. I hope he can eventually find peace and know that loving people is messy and sometimes painful but it is so very worth it in the end. It’s a very small world they’ve carved out for themselves and you can drown in the isolation of it all. I hope they will learn to turn the mirror around and begin to ask themselves about the role they played in creating all this dysfunction. And just maybe there is the tiniest hope that he could have relationship with his relatives. It’s not very likely, especially if he is never able to own his role in lighting this bonfire. Maybe before they are old and William is King, maybe they can find some healing. But Harry is wrong about where the ball is. It’s not in Pa’s court. No one will ever trust that anything they say won’t be misquoted in a book or podcast or interview. Without trust, there is nothing to build on. It’s a shame.

As a Brit, I do think the mockney you used for Harry’s voice is very accurate. Then there were little asides, the long suffering stares into the camera (like when Harry tells William that he believes their mother had handpicked Meg for him). My sides still hurt. I’ve been screaming “So I called my therapist!” Around my apartment and bursting out laughing for about a week now. This was REALLY well done!!!

Going to go through some of your highlights that grabbed my attention:
    1) Isn't it ironic he was praising St George's chapel, the place he got married and said goodbye to his grandfather, yet degraded William's choice to get married at Westminister Abbey where Diana's funeral was at?
    2) Could be stereotyping, but that friend that likely referenced the anthropology stories of the hummingbird could be his friend Nacho, he is from Argentina.
    3) The ball he has to make up that hummingbird story knowing full well how people were amazed that there were rainbows at both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle right as the Queen was pronounced dead. Everyone saw the symbolism of those rainbows as the Queen spiritual through God, as she was a very devoted Christian, saying her farewell and it represented the magnificent reign she resided over, to twist it to link it to directly to him using a spirituality that he grasps to as if it just coincidentally lines up for his life. The nerve.
Thank you so much for covering this book, while I'm certain you didn't gain much value from reading this book, you certainly gain some followers here who love to help support our work. I think you best summarized this book by just saying, "What a dumb book!"

Everything you said about Harry and his spirituality and giving himself all to Meghan is true. He was only a 31 y/o man when he met her and a very immature one at that. He gave off the impression that he was a lost soul and had had no real mission in life (except for maybe Invictus). He had just finished his stint in the army - what was he going to do with his life? This is just a tragic case of little boy lost who meets up with the wrong woman and what has happened is a classic tragic result. It just keeps getting worse.

Thank you for this series-I finally listened to the whole thing. I completely agree about self-absorption. My primary takeaway is how absolutely horribly he has treated his family. There is so much in here that we SHOULD NOT BE HEARING. Especially that heartfelt conversation he had with William and his father. Poor William… he spoke those words to his brother in confidence, never dreaming that his trust would be so violated. It’s heartbreaking.

Diana’s grave is in the Spencer Estate. They would need the approval of the Earl Spencer, even though he is Harry’s uncle. Perhaps the Spencer family don’t want her going there willy nilly. They refused her wearing the Spencer family for her wedding. Good on them! 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺

Its astonishing he hadn't taken her to see Diana's grave before 2022: when my sister married a chap whose mother died 2 years before she took her wedding bouquet to place on his mother's grave. Meghan's performance at the grave is mind-boggling: most normal men would have told her off.
Meghan not invited to Balmoral - makes sense since she barely knew the Queen.

And yet he has inherited more money than most people will see in a lifetime, and has more inheritance to come. Granted, life is about much more than money but he has used ‘needing money’ as an excuse to demonstrate his lack of integrity, his utter betrayal of his family, in public, for money. The book is a book of stories, and was supposed to be published when his grandmother was still alive, so much for his love of her, let alone his brother and his very loving family

I believe that they did not want MM to come to Balmoral. It was not her grandmother. They probably only wanted a few people who were close to her there.
People are constantly commenting that Cath. did not go. Well, it was not her grandmother, either. Why should any of them be there when only two of QE2's eight grandchildren were coming? (Yes, QE2 was not the grandmother of W and H only. For some reason I find it upsetting that their cousins do not seem to be considered as important as grandchildren).
When people are on their deathbed, you bring in the people THEY want to see, and you would think her grandchildren would be higher on the wish list (and it would be more important for them, as she had been there for them all their lives) than the spouses of her grandchildren, especially if they have only been around for a few years.
I am not saying that you cannot have a very close relationship with your spouse's grandmother, but their grandchildren will still be closer to their heart, as should be.

I am so grateful to have stumbled across your channel! I have just binged all of your episodes of *Spare* and am looking forward to move on to *Revenge* with you.
A few thoughts i wanted to add myself.
1, firstly you are a fantastic story teller and i would absolutely love to sit and listen to you all day over a glass of wine 😂 you are insightful, fair and very entertaining so thank you for entertaining me!
2, I have a theory that Harry stopped mentally developing at the age of 12 after the trauma of his mums death and because this wasnt properly addressed he grew up as an indulged man child. I think "Pa" (and others) never really challenged him because he felt bad about not being a mother and the father that Harry "felt" he deserved. I also think that Charles is very passive and Harry is aggressive so they clashed. "Pa" could never have lived up to Harrys expectations because they were unreasonable.
3, William comes off as the better of the 2 in this book even when Harry tries his best to make him look like the bad guy.
4, Meghan fed all of harrys paranoia and insecurities until he became depressed and dependent upon her. She is a calculated manipulator who loves the attention and was disappointed to find out "her prince" wasnt quite the rich catch she thought he would be.
5, the royal family are far superior and have incredible dignity.
6, THANK GOD HARRY WAS NOT BORN FIRST 🤯
    Your awesome. Thank you!! 😁

I am new to your channel and enjoyed your commentary. I have a MA in English lit and I sincerely thank you for sparing my retinas from reading such drivel. Poor Harry's travel challenges to get to Balmoral sound like a load of hooey. The staff at Buckingham Palace would've been on high alert for the past 8 DECADES, ever prepared for the eventuality of our dear Queen's untimely passing. Every detail would've been covered (as witnessed by her stately funeral.) Staff would've had precise plans to get everyone where they had to be. This would've included Harry....UNLESS he'd been such a JERK since M's arrival that he was purposefully left to flounder. Sheesh ~ even when I host luncheons, I make sure that all my girlfriends can get here.

Thorough enjoyed your videos and this series. You brought much fun and comedy to the fairytales, and the book is way worse than I thought it was in how it portrays Harold. He's completely under the cult of his wife. The way he treated the Queen at the end of her life was awful, and he wrote all this expecting her to be alive for it. I think they were shocked at the outpouring of grief for her. I watched some of the footage of people passing her coffin to pay their respects. All types of people. Harold just never understood what true service and sacrifice ever meant. What a lost boy.
